Shannon’s POV

The sun dipped below the horizon as I approached my father’s house for the father-daughter dinner we’d planned, anticipation bubbling within me.

His welcoming smile greeted me at the door, and I couldn’t help but reciprocate. “Welcome, Shannon! I’m thrilled you’re here,” he beamed, guiding me inside.

He had set a table, the air infused with a nice aroma of a home-cooked meal. A genuine warmth emerged from him as he shared, "I thought I’d make something special for us tonight. Hope you like it.”

Surprised by his dedication to cook for us, I expressed my gratitude. “Thank you for this, Dad, it means a lot,” I smiled, genuinely touched by his efforts.

He poured wine into my glass, the deep crimson liquid inviting a toast to our new connection. Excusing himself to attend to the final touches in the kitchen, left me alone with my thoughts.

Sipping the wine, I wandered around the room, my gaze drawn to a strange carving on the wall. Strange details adorned the piece, hiding se

Finally, the doctor approached us, and we collectively held our breaths.“How are Shannon and the baby?” Myra jumped to ask, her voice strained. The doctor offered a reassuring smile. “They’re both stable. The baby came a little premature, but we’re doing everything we can to ensure their well-being. They’re fighters, Shannon and her little one.”Relief washed over us, but it was short-lived. I noticed Myra, leaning against the wall, looking pale and exhausted. Concern etched the face, I decided it was enough. She needed to get help. “Myra, are you okay?” I asked, placing a hand on her shoulder.“I’m fine,” she dismissed with a weak smile. “Just a little tired.”The doctor, however, had a more discerning gaze. “Let me check on you, just to b

The situation with Matthew had left me unsettled, and I know I had to find a way to make Jules listen to my warnings about him.As I entered the main hall, my eyes immediately fell on Michael, playing innocently with a toy on the floor. Beside him stood Matthew, the man I found so suspicious. My instincts screamed at me to grab Michael and run, but I forced myself to stay calm. I hurried over to my son, scooping him up into my arms protectively. Michael grinned up at me, holding out the toy he had been playing with.I turned to face Matthew, my expression hard and suspicious. “What are you doing here?” I demanded, my voice laced with tension.Matthew blinked in surprise, taken aback by my abruptness. “I came to see Jules,” he replied, gesturing vaguely. “One of the maids told me to wait here, and I saw Michael, so I thought I’d keep him company.”My grip on Michael tightened, my protective instincts in overdrive.

They were all lined up in the living room in a straight line dressed in black and whiteThey had to be at least fifty to a hundred of them. What on earth did we need so many slaves for?I wondered as I scanned their faces.I glanced over at Jukes who seemed a little too confident. I wish I had his confidence. It seemed like he was used to it, unlike me.“These are the palace slaves, they are always at your service, They all have been assigned different stations.
