All she could think of was the last phrase the man had said. “Mr. Muriel was coming.” Of course she knew what it meant. Mr. Muriel was going to be there in any second, Mr. Muriel was going to be there to take her to the celebration, show her off to the world and then, take her body as she was a prostitute. Maybe she wasn’t a prostitute but she was indeed a mother who needed the money they were offering her.
