Everyone looked at me, confused. “Is something wrong?”My wife asked but I'm struggling to form anywords, my thoughts was a chaotic mess.

Wait, did he just say that Maya… no Ariel Roderigo… my ex-wife? Is going to be the one in charge now? If she was the new representative for A&R, that meant our entire contract was in her hands.

The very woman I’d walked away from was now the gatekeeper to my company’s future. But how could I explain any of this to anyone? How could I admit that the poised, powerful woman on stage was once my wife whom I abandoned for their daughter?

No matters how i put it, I think it will be a letting insane.

I managed to stammer, “No, it’s… it’s nothing.”

I turned back to Henry, desperation lacing my voice. “This isn’t confirmed, right? I mean, Marcus… he can’t really be putting her in charge of everything.”Henry gave me a look that was both grave and resigned. “It’s already a done deal. Marcus approved it himself, so there is nothing for her to do about it

Pacing to and fro with my hands in my pockets, I patiently waited for her to come out to come out of the female restroom. Minutes later, the door opened and Maya came out of the restroom, turning towards the hall again. “Maya!” I called out and she stopped in her tracks and slowly turned around to me. Her eyes widened slightly in surprise. “Are you referring to me?” she asked in a cold and distant tone as she pointed to herself. “Yes, of course. How can I not recognize you when we spent four years together? You have changed a lot, but…” I tried to move closer to her, but she stepped back, and I could see fear on her face as she seemed scared of me. “What do you think you are doing? Are you trying to harass me?” “Hell no! Why the fuck would I do that?” “I don’t know who you think I am, but you must be mistaken. I am Ariel Roderigo.” She denied bluntly and then turned to leave. “Maya Wells.” I called her full name, which she lived by for the four years she had been married t

******MAYA / ARIEL'S POV***** “Ariel, there you are," Mom called out as I entered the dining, while everyone turned their attention back to me. "Come and join us." I smiled politely and walked over to the table. Kingsley and I exchanged smiles as he quickly stood up from his seat and pulled out a chair for me. "You look beautiful," he whispered behind me as I sat down. "Thanks" I replied, a warmth feeling spreading through me. I glanced around the table at my parents, Richard Bane, Abigail Bane, who was Kingsley's mother, and Nora Bane, who was Kingsley's sister. The all smile kindly at me, which I returned. Kingsley's family was here today to talk about our engagement and wedding. I already insisted that there was no need for an engagement ceremony once the wedding date was set, but both my parents and his parents refused, claiming they wanted this to be a grand affair, a world wedding that everyone would talk about. That was what brought me here, to this gathering. Nora co

Everyone at the table smiled and nodded and the mood lightened once more. They continued discussing the engagement party, and I tried to push the incident out of my mind. But I couldn't help feeling a sense of unease. What if the truth came out? What if my secret was revealed? But I knew one thing: before the truth came out, I would have ruined Lance's life. After dinner, Kingsley and I excused ourselves from the table. The evening air embraced us as we made our way to the balcony, the stars twinkling above us and casting a soft glow over the garden. "Are you okay?" Kingsley asked gently, leaning against the railing with concern evident in his voice. I sighed, looking up at the night sky. "I'm fine. Just... thinking about everything." "Like you're not comfortable with the wedding?" "No. Of course, I am. It's just that everything is moving so fast as I just returned yesterday, and now this," I said, lowering my gaze and fidgeting with my fingers. Kingsley reached out, gently

I increased my pace and hurried to the living room. Getting there, I was shocked to see Mom slapping Mia hard across the face. Each slap sent Mia back, and she would quickly regain her composure and rush to the front of my mom again, standing in the same spot, and Mom would slap her again. My heart ached at the sight of this, and even Bella was on her knees begging Mom with tears streaming down her face. How could Mom be this cruel to do this right in front of her own granddaughter? "Please, Mrs. Roderigo, let my mother go," Bella cried, her face wet with tears. "It's all my fault. I shouldn't have gone outside. Mummy told me to stay inside, but I didn't listen. I promise I'll never leave my room again, I promise." I felt my heart shatter into a thousand pieces as I watched them get punished all because Bella stepped outside and met Kingsley. Rage boiled inside me as I watched my mother continue to strike Mia without even considering poor Bella, who was begging her. I couldn't st

M-Mom," I whispered, holding my stinging cheek, my voice barely audible over the sharp, painful throb radiating across my skin. "How dare you say that to me after everything I’ve done for you? How dare you!" Her voice thundered. I couldn’t look at her, lowering my gaze as tears slipped down my cheeks. "I don’t care if you wed her father or whatever foolish choices you’ve made," she hissed, her words laced with venom. "But mark my words—nothing good will come if you continue defying me. I forgave you once; don’t think I’ll do it again. Choose your words and actions wisely, or you’ll regret it." With that, she turned on her heel, her footsteps echoing as she stormed out of the room. I stood there, rooted in place, unable to move, my heart pounding. I wasn’t sure how I finally managed to make my way to my bedroom, but before I knew it, I was slamming the door shut behind me. I stumbled over to the bed and collapsed onto it, burying my face in the pillows as a fresh wave of tears overt

~~ASHLEY~~I adjusted the collar of my blouse, trying to keep my composure as I sat across from Nora Bane who was on the phone, talking with someone. With the bright smile on her face, I could guess she's a close friend of hers. “ Oh you mean that? Of course it is.” As they were talking, Nora suddenly glanced at me, clicking her tongue and then smiled, to which I quickly returned.I was actually called this morning to take on the modeling job for their new project called mEgan3 which they wanted to launch soon. Turning to the left side, I suddenly collided headfirst into a broad, solid chest, and I lost my balance, already falling to the ground.I shut my eyes close as my mind raced with the embarrassing image of me sprawling on the floor. But then, a strong arm quickly caught me, pulling me back from the brink of shame.I breathe out in relief, knowing that I had been saved. I slowly opened my eyes to see my savior, only to see deep blue eyes staring back at me. Nah, there's definitely no way he would know.Rubbing his temples, Lance sighed heavily. “You know what? Let’s not talk about this because I might really vent out my anger on you now.”He continued unbuttoning his shirt, while I stood at the same spot, looking at him as I was stunned by the way he had raised his voice at me. His words hit like a slap, but I refused to falter as I didn't regret the decision I had made. I straightened my shoulders and met his cold stare. “I never said I wasn’t part of this family, Dad. I’m still your daughter and I will always be. But it's just that I’ve chosen not to follow your rules blindly anymore. That doesn’t make me any less a Roderigo.” “And yet, you dare to lecture me about the company I keep? Or about what my brother has done?” His voice dropped dangerously low. “You, who abandoned us? Atleast he's still with us ” “Abandoned?” I repeated, my voice trembling with anger. “I stood up for myself after you forced your decision on me. For once, I chose to live on my own terms, and if that offends you, so be it. But seeing you laugh and drink with the man who almost destroyed you..almost took away what belonged to you while calling himself your brother—don’t you see how hypocritical that is?” “Maya, stop,” Mom whispered, tugging at my arm gently. “Please.” But I

As the nurse entered Mia's ward, I quickly rushed after her, feeling the heat rushing to my face. My cheeks burned like wildfire, and I clenched my fists as I stormed into Mia’s ward, slamming the door shut behind me. Leaning against the door, I pressed my back against the cool wood, my chest heaving. What the fuck did I just do? Are you insane? He's your ex, how could you even think of doing that?I squeezed my eyes shut, willing myself to calm down, but it was useless. The memory of his lips on mine, the way he held me so firmly, the warmth of his breath—it all came rushing back. I raised my fingers to my lips, brushing over them lightly. They still tingled, and I hated it. Butterflies swirled in my stomach, making me feel both nauseous and... something else I didn’t want to name. And then suddenly, I felt the weight of several gazes on me, only to open my eyes and see Mia, Bella, and the nurse all staring at me. Their expressions ranged from confusion to amusement, and I ins

Ever since I lost a match made in heaven, I lost my entire life. And now… I want it all back. Everything.” His eyes didn’t leave mine, as though searching for something more—for me to say something. But I couldn’t find anything to say. “Is that all you have to say?” He asked.“Yes, it is. Do you want me to say something else?” My tone was sharp, each word a deliberate dagger. “I thought you’d be happy about it… I thought you’d be… you know, fine that I got what I deserved.” He’s right. I was supposed to be happy seeing them broken apart and losing everything. But now… I really didn’t feel much. But minutes later, a man arrived and asked the wife, ‘Is your husband home?’ The wife replied, ‘Oh, he’s traveled far, and I doubt he’ll ever return back to this house.’ Then the man sighed and said, ‘That’s unfortunate. I came to repay a debt I owe him, but since he’s not here, I’ll keep the money.’Bella paused dramatically, leaning closer as if sharing a secret. "Hearing this, the tortoise shouted from his hiding place, ‘Wait! I’m home!’ He rushed out from his hiding place to collect the money but on seeing the man, the tortoise's smile faded as the man was actually one of his debtors.” Mia and I couldn’t help but smile as Bella acted out each character with exaggerated expressions. ***ASHLEY'S POV***I never imagined it would end like this—a quiet, heart-wrenching conclusion where we walked away from each other for good. When I decided to step back into Lance’s life six years ago, I was determined never to let him go, never to let anyone take him from me again. But now… it’s over. Standing on the courthouse steps, I watched his figure retreating, growing smaller with each step he took down the stairs. The crisp autumn air bit at my skin, but the cold I felt ran deeper. It wasn’t the chill of the weather—it was the weight of everything that had just happened. The closure I thought I wanted had left me feeling emptier than I ever imagined. The divorce was final. The court had granted it without a fight. Lance had surprised me by agreeing to sign the papers, though he made it clear I wouldn’t get a cent of his property. I didn’t care. I never wanted anything from him but this divorce… even if getting it meant resorting to things I never thought I’d be capable of

****KINGSLEY'S POV****“Here.” Lysol’s voice broke through my thoughts as he pressed a cool glass of wine into my hand. I looked up, meeting his gaze. The wine burned sweetly, its warmth settling in my chest, but it wasn’t enough to distract me from the weight pressing on my shoulders. We stood side by side at the balcony, wrapped in bathrobes as we just showered together not long. A soft groan escaped my lips, as I clutched my head with both hands, trying to will the pain away. The world felt off-kilter, like I was trapped in some twisted dream, and it took what felt like an eternity for my senses to clear. After some minutes, I felt a little but relief and I slowly rolled onto my back, my gaze locking onto the ceiling above. A faint crack in the plaster caught my eye—a detail that only deepened the gnawing unease in my chest. I sighned in anger as the memory crashed into me like a tidal wave: the dining table, the satisfying smirk on her face, and the humiliation that had burned me from the inside out. "That bitch," I muttered, the words laced with venom as I swung my legs over the side of the bed. My feet hit the cold floor, grounding me, but my head still felt like it was stuffed with cotton.
