*JORDYN’S POV*

A knock on my door snapped me out of my reverie. I straightened in my chair, my eyes narrowing slightly as Josh stepped into the office.

“They are here,” He said, his voice low and controlled, but the tightness in his jaw didn’t escape my notice.

I gave a curt nod, forcing myself to stay composed. “I’ll be there shortly,” I replied.

Josh lingered for a second longer as if waiting for more, but when I offered nothing more, he left as silently as he came, the door clicking shut behind him.

The silence that followed was oppressive. The kind that leaves too much space for unnecessary thoughts to creep in.

What if there really is a traitor in our court, lurking but out of sight?

The possibility gnawed at me as a dull ache settled in my gut.

It was one thing to face enemies outside, but a hidden enemy inside our pack would be far worse.
