*JORDYN'S POV*
I stared into blank space with my legs crossed as if the weight of my thoughts anchored me to the spot.
I kept my composure in front of her but deep down, I was a whirlwind of emotions.
I had a lot to drink last night but I could recall what happened, although not clearly.
The moment I laid my eyes on her at the noble’s party, a strange sensation cursed through my veins. It was something I had never felt before, something new. Underneath my composure, I felt my wolf tearing through my skin and trying to break free from my control as if desperate to claim this mysterious woman as its own.
I had snuck out of the noble’s party because I felt suffocated in there. It was quite shocking that I also met her at the club. It wasn't love at first sight, Maybe I was just sexually attracted but there was something about her I couldn’t quite understand.
It’s even more tragic that she couldn’t remember grabbing my wrist so tight and throwing me on that bed with a strength that belied her slender frame. Her hands had roamed my body with a hunger that left me breathless, igniting a fire that threatened to incinerate us both. And yet, she remembers none of it. Her scents still lingered in my nostrils and the memory of her touch haunted my skin.
All this is hard to process because ever since I came of age, I have never smelled my mate. If this omega happens to be…
“What’s up with you man?” Josh’s voice suddenly echoed, cutting off my deranged thoughts.
I let out an exhale that was barely audible. “Josh, what would you do if you drunkenly slept with a girl at a club?” I asked him with my head still down.
I could feel Josh’s eyes on me.
“So you slept with a girl at a club?” He asked in a mocking tone.
I shot him a glare. “I didn’t say it was me” I tried to defend myself.
He paused before answering. “Well, I guess I’d try to talk to her and see what she feels about it,” He said slowly. “Well people do it all the time, it’s not a big deal” His reply was rather nonchalant.
“What she feels about it…” I murmured. ‘She clearly feels raped’
An idea suddenly struck me. “Josh” I called out with calmness that didn’t match my growing unease. Yes! I feel uneasy— and I have no idea why. “Could you dig up some information on that girl I saw you talking to yesterday?” I asked, trying to sound nonchalant. It came out rather wrong because I could see the twist on Josh’s face immediately after I said that.
His eyes narrowed slightly as he took a step back as if sensing something else lurking beneath my casual question.
“At the noble’s party?” He asked with a look full of inquisitiveness and concern.
“Yeah—what do you know about her?”
“Why?” He prompted.
I attempted to cover up my interest with a feeble excuse, but the words tasted like ash in my mouth. “Nothing much, I heard a rumor about her, I just wanted to confirm if it’s true—you know…always keeping an eye on the people of my pack” I lied. This is probably the most childish lie I’ve ever told.
Josh’s heavy exhale made it obvious that he wasn’t buying it. He had a squinty look on his face that seemed to say ‘save it, I’m not fooled’
Well I needed to know more about this omega. What was it about her that triggered my senses and awakened an hunger I never knew existed. I needed to get close to her, even if it means forcing her to be my girlfriend.

*BRIANNE’S POV*
“Jordyn?!! You slept with Alpha Jordyn?” Mary yell echoed in the silent corridor.
“Be quiet Mary do you want someone to hear you?” I shushed her as we walked down the college corridor. Being done with classes for the day, I finally had the chance to speak with Mary one on one.
“Oh my God! So what did he say about it?”
“What should he say about it? of course he thinks I'm some prostitute” I bantered.
According to Mary, the guy she met at the club texted her the next day and told her he had dropped her home because she was too drunk to drive.
A memory suddenly flashed, and I grasped Mary’s arm, my voice barely above a whisper.
“Mary you remember the guy I told you about? The one I met at the noble’s party?” I asked with my eyes locked on hers.
“The cute one? Yes why?” She replied, a hint of teasing in her voice.
“His name is Josh” I said.
“So what should I do with that information” Mary’s expression turned sarcastic.
“Him and Jordyn seems close” I replied with a clogged voice.
“What?!” Mary’s eyes widened. “Your potential boyfriend is BFFs with the guy you had a one night stand with at a club?” She exclaimed with a voice laced with disbelief.
“What do you mean by ‘potential boyfriend’?” I questioned with a little blushing creeping on my face.
“Well you sounded like you were really into him” she teased.
I rolled my eyes at her. We were already outside the college building.
“Can we just go home? I’m tired” I said to her. But fate had other plans…
Just as I said that, a sleek car pulled up, honking loudly in front of us. The tinted windows rolled down, revealing the driver.
Jordyn?!
Not only was I shocked to see him at my school, why was he stopping in front of us?
He looked straight at me, ignoring the girl standing beside me,
“Get in” He ordered with a stoic face.
I couldn’t believe my eyes, nor my ears.
‘Get in?’ I scoffed. Maybe he isn’t referring to me.
I held onto Mary’s hand and pulled her with me.
“Bri what’s going on?, why is he here? And why is he telling you to get into his car?”
I knew she was curious, but this is not the time for any explanation. Besides, I couldn’t even provide an explanation even if I wanted to.
The car drove and stopped in front of us again. “I said, get—in” His voice was even more cold this time, his eyes looked like they were going to swallow me.
I stopped abruptly. I need to take care of this right now. This man needs to be stopped and I can’t be seen too close to an alpha, not to mention that the feeling of hatred I harbor towards him still hasn’t died down.
“Mary, I’m sorry but can you go home without me? I’ll explain. Later” I said before turning back to get into Jordyn’s car.
“What are you doing here?” I asked him the moment I got into the car.
“Aren’t you supposed to be taking responsibility?—I told you, you are my girlfriend for three weeks. This is how I’m also going to make up for what happened, although it was your fault” He replied, making clear his point.
“But I didn’t agree to this” I tried to be lenient.
“Do you have to?” He asked calmly. “You called me a rapist, I’m just trying to clear my guilty conscience” He continued.
“Well don’t come to my school again” I said rudely.
I heard him chuckle. “Don’t you think you’re being too brave for an omega?” His voice turned cold, he looked at me, taking his eyes off the road. “I could skin you alive if I wanted” He threatened.
“I don’t think you have a choice… i’ll make you mine either ways” He continued. The air in the car seemed to thicken as I felt a jolt of fear.
I totally must have forgotten that the man next to me was not just an alpha but the alpha of our pack, a man who could crush me with a mere thought.
‘What trouble have I gotten into?’
*BRIANNE’S POV*His threat sent cold chills down my throat. Is he literally forcing me to be his girlfriend?Well, what would I expect from an alpha of his reputation. Why would he even bother himself with me in the first place?“Where is your house?” His husky voice asked calmly.Another reason why I regret getting into this car. What would my father say when he sees me with him.“The second house on the ninth street” I answered, almost choking on my own saliva.Today would be the day my father would finally kill me. He’ll probably think I’m finally into some kind of hook up business after been rejected by my mate, because there’s no way in hell an Alpha of Jordyn’s caliber would have any sort of interest in me.The thought of me, an omega, catching the eye of someone like Jordyn was laughable. It is inconceivable that someone of Jordyn’s stature would be interested in me.The closer we drew to my house, the more scared I became. I silently prayed for a miracle to happen—any miracle,
*BRIANNE’S POV*I stood frozen in the darkness of my room, staring at my phone screen. The coldness in Jordyn’s voice kept me glued to the spot. I couldn’t shake off the feeling that he was watching me; even though I could not see him, my spine tingled.Out of fright, I hastily rushed to my window and slammed it shut. His words echoed in my head. ‘We’re not done yet.’What did he mean by that? I thought this whole charade was only going to last three weeks. Wasn’t that the deal? I was starting to doubt because Jordyn’s voice hinted at something more sinister, as if he was extending the agreed timeframe.“This is exhausting” I let out a deep sigh, my shoulders slumping in fatigue. I wondered if I had underestimated Jordyn’s intentions, why did I have to be caught up in an Alpha’s world? I had always tried to stay unnoticed, to blend into the background, and not draw unnecessary attention to myself. So where could I have gone wrong? His words ‘we’re not done yet’ sounded more like a pro
*BRIANNE’S POV*“Why do I have to train at the pack house?, can’t I train somewhere else?” I asked as my anxiousness skyrocketed.“So you’ve agreed to train?” My mother asked, her tone laced with surprise.I held myself from rolling my eyes. “Did I have a choice in the first place?” I retorted.“The pack house is the best and the safest,” she said, her mood seemed to have been elevated. “You could even get the chance to be trained by the Alpha’s mother. Then maybe you could transform into your wolf form” she continued, the last part came out in a whisper.“Not again” I groaned in annoyance. “ do we have to do this all the time?” I stomped.“You need your wolf Bri,” she persuaded.“No I don’t,” I said, the volume of my voice going higher as I took a step back. “Why can’t you see me for who I am instead of sending me off to some combat training? I can’t shift... Wolf wolf wolf, You all make me so sick. I don’t need my wolf,” I yelled.“Then you’re nothing more than a human,” my mother y
*BRIANNE’S POV*“That is bad news,” Mary said.I rolled my eyes at her. “That’s the whole point, of course, it’s bad news,” I said perplexed.Mary chuckled. “Your life is full of unexpected surprises, Bri. You have to admit, it’s never boring” Mary added, her voice laced with sarcasm.I groaned. “They are driving me nuts, Mary. Just because my brother now has his wolf, my father suddenly decided it would be better for me to train at the pack house?” I complainedMary tried to offer a reassuring smile. “Your father might just be trying to push you to your full potential” she tried to reason with me.“Full potential?” I repeated, my voice rising. “You know as well as I do that people training at the pack house all have their wolves already. They are not struggling like I am” I said, devastated.“This whole thing is weird” Mary’s voice became low. “Do you think he told your father to make you train at the pack house?” Mary’s question sounded more like she was talking to herself.“I doub
*BRIANNE’S POV*I stood at the entrance gate, my heart beating fast in my chest. My gaze locked onto the sign above, the logo of the silver-black pack. The metallic letters gleamed in the sunlight as my mind clouded with a sense of unease.I glanced back, my anxiety taking the better of me.The line was longer than I expected, I guess I wasn’t the only one training. The realization only added to my unease. I gripped my gate pass and training form firmly, trying to keep the papers from rustling too much.“Brianne Preston..”I almost jumped when I suddenly heard my name. Without hesitating or wasting any time, I rushed forward. The chubby lady scrutinized my forms, her eyes scanning through the pages with curiosity. Then she looked up at me, her gaze navigating my face and body with a discerning intensity. I felt a slight flutter in my chest as she seemed to take in every detail, her expression unreadable. Her eyes lingered on my face as if searching for something. I straightened my po
*BRIANNE’S POV*I scanned the crowd, my gaze awkwardly darting from one face to another. Their waiting eyes stared back at me, gleaming with anticipation. His thunderous voice boomed again. “You, pretty girl, Come up here”The lady turned to me with a faint but encouraging smile. “Go on, show us what you’ve got”My legs stayed rooted to the spot. ‘But I’ve got nothing to show’“I..sorry I think I’ll pass,” I said shakily. The lady chuckled. “You don’t get to pass.” She said. “Be an honorable wolf and go on” She encouraged. But how…how do I tell them I don’t have my wolf? How do I tell them I’m not strong enough? I tried to move my legs but they stayed stuck to the ground, refusing to budge. I knew that once I stepped into that ring, my fate was sealed. The crowd’s cheers grew louder, but their enthusiasm wasn’t for me— It was for my opponent. A tall, slender girl in her mid-20s. She snarled, glaring at me with a fierce intensity. Her eyes seemed to dare me to step forward. My legs fi
*JORDYN’S POV*I was in a deep conversation with Josh in my office when a sudden, intense sensation washed over me, sending waves down my spine. My senses came to life all at once, It was as if my senses had been hijacked, and I was hit with a familiar sweet scent. That unmistakable scent. It was her!! The sweet smell that hasn’t left my nostrils since the very day I met her. It was Brianne. This weird feeling—I could feel my wolf on a total rampage. But wait… what is she doing in the pack house? As I struggled to regain my composure, a chill crept up my spine at the mere thought of seeing her.“You okay bro?” Josh’s voice suddenly pulled me out of my confusion.I turned to him, but my mind was blank and unable to form a coherent response.“What’s wrong?” He asked, the concern visible on his face. “You seem out of it lately, I think you need some time off” He advised.I exhaled awkwardly, “yeah… I think I need some time off” I agreed unhesitatingly.Josh nodded “So I’ll see you later,
*BRIANNE’S POV*He carried me to a room, his strides purposeful and swift. He carefully laid me on the bed, his touch gentler than I expected.I didn’t know what to say to him, my mind raced with uncertainty. Should I apologize? Explain? Remain silent? I didn’t even know if I should say anything at all. His eyes flashed with anger and his jaw clenched. As he towered over me, his gaze pierced through me as if searching for answers to the questions that filled his mind. I felt a shiver run through my spine under his intense scrutiny. He walked to the telephone without saying anything and made a call.“Call in Doctor El” I heard him say over the phone.I wondered why he was calling a doctor—we werewolves heal quickly, and I could already feel my wounds closing, which was a painful, slow process for me. My healings are always excruciating and prolonged, unlike others of our kind. After making the call, he turned and leaned against the table behind him. His eyes fixed intently on me. His g
I could still hear Mary’s voice in my head, teasing me about how I owed her a proper date. It played on repeat as I sat on the couch, flipping through ideas for something special. I wasn’t the type to go all out—fancy dates and grand gestures weren’t really my thing—but for Mary, I wanted this to feel different. She deserved different. The past few days in the clinic had been torture, not because of the pain, but because I couldn’t stop thinking about her. The memory of her hand in mine, the way her cheeks flushed when I’d asked her to be my girlfriend, was burned into my mind. She’d told me to wait, to get better first, but that didn’t stop me from imagining her answer. With a plan finally forming in my head, I grabbed my phone and sent her a quick text.Me: Don’t forget, Friday night. Dress fancy. Her reply came almost instantly:Mary: It better be worth it.I laughed under my breath, shaking my head. She always knew how to keep me on my toes.*** Friday rolled around faster than I
*MARY'S POV*I stood outside Josh’s room in the clinic, the door slightly ajar. It had been two days since the accident, and though his wounds were healing, I still couldn’t shake the image of him lying unconscious and bloodied. I’d barely slept since Brianne called me with the news. Every time I closed my eyes, I saw him in that state. The sound of his voice pulled me from my thoughts.“Mary, you planning to just stand there, or are you coming in?”I pushed the door open, trying to mask the relief that flooded through me at seeing him awake and smirking. Typical Josh—always ready with a grin, even when he was banged up.“How long were you watching me?” I asked, stepping in and closing the door behind me.“Long enough to see you pacing like a worried mom,” he teased, his voice hoarse but warm.I rolled my eyes, pulling the chair closer to his bed. “You’re insufferable, you know that?”“And yet, here you are.”I couldn’t argue with that.*** *JOSH'S POV*Mary looked tired, like she ha
*MARY'S POV*Walking into the room, I felt my chest tighten at the sight of him. Josh was lying on the bed, his face pale, his breathing steady but shallow. Bandages covered his arms and chest, and there was a faint bruise along his jawline.I pulled up a chair beside his bed, my eyes welling up with tears. “You idiot,” I muttered, my voice shaking. “Why did you have to be so reckless?”He didn’t respond, of course. He was unconscious, his body working overtime to heal itself. I reached out, hesitating for a moment before taking his hand in mine.“You’re going to be fine,” I whispered, more to myself than to him. “You have to be. I’m not done yelling at you yet.”*** Hours passed, though it felt like days. Brianne came in to check on me a few times, offering food or water, but I couldn’t bring myself to leave Josh’s side.As the first rays of dawn filtered through the window, I felt a slight movement in his hand. My heart leaped, and I leaned forward.“Josh?” I whispered, my voice ba
*MARY'S POV*I groaned again, burying my face in the pillow. “Why am I like this? Why can’t I just enjoy it and move on?”It wasn’t like I hadn’t been with other guys before. But with Josh, it felt different. There was a connection, something deeper that I couldn’t quite put into words. And that scared me.“Do you think I’m falling for him, Mr. Fluffy?” I whispered. The teddy bear, of course, didn’t respond, but I could almost imagine him giving me a knowing look.I laughed softly, shaking my head. “No, no, no. This is just… it’s a phase. A momentary lapse in judgment. I’ll get over it. I mean, it’s Josh. He’s annoying and cocky and—”My phone buzzed on the nightstand, cutting off my train of thought. I reached over to grab it, my heart skipping a beat when I saw his name on the screen.Josh: Hope you’re not overthinking last night. I know I’m irresistible, but try to focus on other things.I rolled my eyes, though I couldn’t help the smile that tugged at my lips.Me: You wish. I’m pe
*JOSH'S POV*Mary stirred slightly, her lashes fluttering against her cheeks before her eyes opened. The sunlight caught her hair, making it shine in soft waves, and for a moment, I just stared. She blinked a few times, her gaze landing on me, and a sleepy smile curved her lips.“Morning,” she murmured, her voice husky from sleep.“Morning,” I replied, leaning against the headboard, my arms crossed casually. “You’re not a morning person, are you?”She stretched, groaning softly as she did. “Not in the slightest. You’re lucky you’re cute, or I’d complain about how bright it is in here.”I smirked. “Noted. Next time, I’ll keep the blinds closed.”Her head tilted, a mischievous glint in her eyes. “Next time, huh?”“Well, that depends,” I said, my tone teasing. “Do I get a ‘next time,’ or was this a one-time deal?”Mary propped herself up on one elbow, her expression playfully stern. “Don’t fish for compliments this early, Josh. It’s too much effort.”I laughed, the sound filling the room
*JOSH'S POV*We walked back to the car in a comfortable silence, the sound of the waves fading behind us. Mary’s steps were light, her head tilted slightly as she took in the surroundings. I couldn’t help but watch her, admiring the way the wind played with her hair and how her eyes seemed to hold a certain spark. When we reached the car, she turned to me, crossing her arms with a mock-serious expression. “So, Mr. Beta-Hybrid, what’s next on this grand plan of yours?”I smirked, opening the passenger door for her. “You’ll have to wait and see.”She raised an eyebrow, sliding into the seat. “You’re enjoying this way too much, aren’t you?”“Absolutely,” I said with a grin before shutting the door and walking around to the driver’s side.As I started the engine, the warmth of the moment lingered. The drive back was quiet at first, the soft hum of the car filling the air. I could feel Mary glancing at me every now and then, her curiosity practically radiating. Finally, she broke the silen
*JOSH'S POV*“After I was born, there was a lot of fear about what it would mean to have a half-human wolf in the pack. The elders were worried about what people would say, how they’d react. Jordyn’s mother—well, she was the one who stepped in. She wanted to protect me from the inevitable gossip and judgment.”Mary’s eyes widened. “So, she just… hid it?”“Sort of,” I said, leaning forward to rest my elbows on my knees. “She went to a soothsayer. Someone with strong abilities. They found a way to mask the hybrid part of me. That’s why no one’s ever been able to tell I’m different. No one can smell it or sense it. As far as anyone in the pack is concerned, I’m just a regular beta.”“That’s… incredible,” Mary whispered, her voice filled with amazement. “But why? Why go to all that trouble?”I sighed, running a hand through my hair. “Because being a hybrid in the wolf world isn’t easy. Humans and wolves… they’re not supposed to mix. If people knew, there’d be questions, doubts about my lo
*JOSH'S POV*“Actually… there’s something else you should know,” I said, swinging my hands in a playful manner as we strolled across the beach. The breeze was gentle, the sun starting to dip lower, casting a golden glow across the waves. We walked in comfortable silence, but I could feel the weight of what I needed to share building inside me.Mary glanced at me, her curiosity piqued. “Oh? More secrets, huh? You’re full of surprises.”I chuckled, though this was heavier than the usual banter. “Yeah, and this one’s… kind of a big deal.”Her teasing smile faltered slightly, but she stayed lighthearted. “Don’t tell me you’re some sort of vampire-werewolf hybrid. ‘Cause that’s too much for me to handle today.”I laughed, though her joke hit closer to the truth than she knew. “Not quite that dramatic, but close.”We eventually found a shaded spot under a large tree near the shoreline. The wind rustled the leaves, offering a quiet retreat from the rest of the world. I sat down on the sand,
*JOSH’S POV*I reached the pack house and headed straight to Jordyn’s office. He was already behind his desk, looking over a set of documents when I walked in.“Morning,” I said, stepping inside and closing the door behind me.Jordyn glanced up, raising an eyebrow. “You seem in a good mood.”I shrugged, trying to play it off. “Just a good night, I guess.”He didn’t push for details, which was probably for the best. I wasn’t sure I was ready to explain why I couldn’t stop grinning like an idiot. Instead, he handed me a file, the lightness in the air quickly replaced by the seriousness of pack duties.“Here,” he said. “Take a look. We’ve had a few reports of rogue wolves in the north, near the river. We need to adjust the patrols in that area, make sure we’ve got enough coverage.”I nodded, flipping through the papers, but the focus I usually had for work was a little off today. No matter how hard I tried to concentrate, my thoughts kept drifting back to Mary.Jordyn must’ve noticed bec
