Ten

Chapter ten

Our hands were together,and we were happy.not untill he came, the Alpha sped past us grabbing Adam with him while I gasped in shock at what just happened.

Before I could open up my mouth to say a word , he tossed him away like her was some piece of trash making Adam fall roughly on the ground and wincing in so much pain .

I covered my mouth using my palm in suprise and fear,as the basket of clothes I was holding fell from my hands.

I really thought Adam would be fine ,not until I saw him spit out blood from his mouth while holding his limbs and coughing on the floor.

I wanted to run over to him and help him,but then the alpha turned towards me and began walking.

Seeing that he was approaching me and almost getting closer to me, I could see his eyes which had turned red from rage and I staggared backwards. He was growling and the vains on his forehead were visible, making me understand that I had gotten him really furious by seeing Adam.

I kept on staggering backwards and lost my balance stepping a rock. I was about to fall,when he suddenly sped towards me catching me before I did .

I was in his arms looking at him straight in the eyes. My dear increased as I tried to push him away, but he was just too powerful and he wouldn't even move an inch.

I looked towards the direction of Adams and found him on the floor,his body wasn't moving as he remained still on the floor.

This was the worst sight to behold, I tried freeing myself from him and go meet Adam,but he wouldn't let go of me and before I knew it ,I slapped him across the face with tears gushing down my eyes.

" You monster, you killed him ! You killed my best friend". I yelled and when I couldn't scream I passed out immediately.

Alpha Dane

I didn't let her leave.. I kept holding her tightly to myself as I glared maliciously at the unconscious body of Adam.

Then I felt a sting on my cheek as she managed to wiggle herself out of my hold. My mate just slapped me and it's all because of him.

I turned my gaze to her in anger but she returned it with an even harsher glare. They were tears in her eyes.

" You monster, you killed him ! You killed my best friend". She yelled and passed out immediately.

I was fast enough to catch her, preventing her from falling to the group.

"Whoa?!.. What the hell happened?" Red said walking towards us and staring at Adam's body.

"I see someone got beaten up to a pulp.. Tell me, is he dead?" Red said in a mocking tone.

"Take him to the pack's infirmary" I simply said and carried my mate in a bridal style.

"What about your mate, Won't she be taken to the infirmary?" Red asked.

"Send a doctor to my room.. He should be here within seconds" I ordered.

"Yes Alpha!"

With that, I turned and walked away still having great anger buried inside me.

I stood with my hands tucked into my pants and watched keenly as the doctor worked on my mate, rendering some medications. Soon, he was done. He turned to me and bowed a little.

"Alpha Dane, She fell unconscious due to shock and with all the tests I've rendered, she's fine and is bound to regain consciousness any time soon" He explained.

I nodded and hummed in response.

"I'll take my leave now Alpha!" He said, picked up his suitcase, bowed and left.

I sighed then took slow steps towards her. I sat on the sofa close to her bed the took her hands in mine.

"Ericka!!" I called softly. All the anger I had in me, all disappeared immediately I held her hands.

"Why does it have to be him? Why do you still choose him over me? I'm your mate Ericka, the moon goddess paired us together. You belong to me.. Me alone" I said aloud, even though she couldn't here me.

I lifted my hands to her hair and brushed it.

Then I felt someone trying to mind link me. I knew instantly that it's Red.. I opened up to him instantly.

"Buddy!!"

"Tell me Red" I said, going straight to the point. My mate's unconscious and I don't have the strength to chit chat.

"Well, we're still at the infirmary and I just got a tip about his condition" Red said. I kept quiet, waiting for him to continue.

"The doctor said his condition is quite critical since he sustained some deep cuts and it will take some time to heal since he's an omega" Red said.

"Is he conscious?" I asked.

"I guess so. I'll go check up on him once I'm done talking to you. I must say Alpha Dane, you did quite a number on him"

I scoffed as I recalled everything that happened.. The closeness between my mate and him..crap!!

"I'll do more numbers on him if he tries to messes with my mate the next time"

"Someone's over protective of his once rejected mate" Red teased.

"Go check up on Adam and make sure he's okay!" I said and cut off the mind link.

"I don't care how much you slap me Ericka.. But no one goes close to my mate" I said to her.

Beta Red

I let the doctors take charge of Adam as I stood outside the door.

I'm really bored! I hate infirmary... No sexy ladies to have fun with. Just then, my eyes landed on one of the nurses. She looks kinda hot. I smirked as I walked stylishly to her.

"Hello there beautiful" I said, making her look up from whatever she was doing.

I wagged my eyebrows while she flashed me a seductive look.

"Has anyone ever told you that you look hot and sexy?"

"Oh my! Really?" She giggled.

"Of course! Like and angel from above" I added. She flipped her lashes and looked away shyly.

"How about we get to know each other more? You know, in a quite place perhaps"

"Sure!" She replied.

I smirked even more.. I always shoot my shot nicely.

"Alpha Roberts Pack.. 9pm, this night"

"Absolutely!!"

I smiled victoriously.

"Excuse me?" I turned to see the doctor that attended to Adam.

"Yes Doctor? Is everything okay?" I asked.

"Yes! We managed to stop the bleeding.. Although, his condition is quite critical. His winds are gonna heal but it will take some time because he's an omega" He explained. I nodded.

"Is he awake?Can I see him now?"

"Yes. I'll attend to some other patients" I nodded and he walked away.

Without wasting time, I mind linked Alpha Dane and explained everything to him. After that, I walked to Adam's ward.

Getting in, I saw how he managed to sit up while enduring the pains he was feeling.

I cleared my throat, gaining his attention.

"Beta Red!" He said and bowed.

"How are you feeling now Adam?" I asked.

"I'm okay"

I ran my eyes through his entire body and shook my head.

"I hope this serves as a lesson to you Adam.. No one messes with the Alpha's mate. Ericka belongs to Alpha Dane. I'll advice you to let her be to prevent the angry side of the Alpha. You might be lucky this time Adam, but next time,

you won't" His head remained bowed as I spoke.

"I believe you're mated to Alpha Roberts daughter, Mayna, Correct?"

"Yes Beta Red!"

"Stick to your mate!" He nodded.

"Your bills have been settled. Go home when you're fit to" I said, stared one last time and walked out.

Ericka

I opened my eyes but the bright light from the room made my shit it back. Then slowly, I opened them as it adjusts to the lights.

I stared around the room then noticed it doesn't look like mine. Memories of what happened came rushing in. The unconscious state of Adam, how profusely he was bleeding..

I gasped and sat upright as my eyes landed directly on Dane. He was seated just beside me and staring at me.

Anger surge through me.

"You killed him.. You killed Adam" I said through gritted teeth as tears rolled down my cheeks.

He raised an eyebrow at me but I cared less. Adam's gone, there's nothing to be afraid of.

I began to land punches on his chest. "You killed my best friend.. You're a murderer!" I ranted.

"Ericka.. Ericka.." He tried to hold me but I didn't let him. Instead I continued hitting him hard.

"You killed him.. You.."

"Enough!!" I kept mute as he growled loudly, holding my hands.

"I didn't kill him okay!... It would have been better if I did" He yelled.

I blinked rapidly.. He, I mean Adam Isn't dead. I must go see him.

"I need to see him.." I said and made to leave but Dane pulled me back. His eyes held so much anger as I stared at him.

"Move an inch Ericka and I'll have Adam killed Even before you get there"

I stayed rooted to a spot as he said those words.

He left my hands and brushed his hands through his hair and sighed deeply.

"I made sure Red took Adam to the infirmary and he's fine now.. There's no need to panic" I stared at him blankly.

"I'm your mate Ericka and as one, you are not permitted to see or talk to Adam if you want his safety. We'll be leaving tomorrow to my pack..So get ready. I'll get someone to lead you home" Dane said and head out, leaving me in my own thoughts.

For Adam's safety, I must stay away. I closed my eyes and let the tears flow freely.

Mayna

"No! No.. This mustn't happen.. Alpha Dane can't leave with that slave. No!" I lamented as I walked towards dad's office.

I'd wanted to spend sometime with Dane. perhaps, make him see that I'm more preferable over his mate.

I was close to his room when I began to hear voices. I stopped and evesdropped.. That was how I knew he planned on leaving with Ericka and that mustn't happen.

I barged into Dad's office, stopping him from attending to some files.

"Ericka dear, what..."

"Dad, we need to do something. We can't let them leave" I said.

"Who's leaving?"

"Alpha Dane and Ericka!"

Dad stood up and banged the table.. "I knew this was going to happen"

"Do something Dad"

"Do not worry my dear... There's a solution!" Dad said and brought out a white substance wrapped firmly.

"This is what you'd need Mayna.."

I walked close to him and collected it from him then perceived it. My eyes widened as I stared at Dad who only had an evil smirk on.

"This..?" I asked and he nodded.

"I'll leave it to you Mayna.. Do not be careless" I smiled at Dad.

"I'll do it properly Dad. Thank you"

"Anything to make you happy dear!"

I walked majestically out of Dad's office.. ready to execute the plan.

Ericka

I walked into the pack house and met Mayna sitting comfortably on the sofa while filling her nails. She was humming a song and smiling to herself. I wonder what's making her happy!

In order not to disturb her happy moment, I decided to walk past her and get down with some chores.

"Ericka!!" I heard her voice just when I walked past her. I stopped walking and turned to face her.

"There's a served dish in the kitchen, get it for me" She ordered. I turned and walked into the kitchen and almost immediately, I saw the dish already served. I took it and walked back to her.

I don't know how it happened or what made me tripped but I saw myself falling to the ground with the meal, spilling on the floor.

"How Ridiculous!!, You clumsy fool" Mayna growled loudly.

"I'm sorry" I said and made to pack it.

"Stop! I don't want you to clean those... I want you to eat those!"

My eyes widened...

"Are you gonna eat them or I'll have you locked up in the dungeon?" She threatened.

C'mon Ericka, you just have to eat!

I scooped some of the meal into my hands and right into my mouth. It's kinda disgusting but I had to do it.

I glanced at Mayna to see she had a wide smirk plastered on her face.

I continued eating the meal until it's just few grains left on the floor.

"You can clean those up now" I stopped eating and cleaned up then walked away to the kitchen.

I placed the dishes into the sink and turned to leave. Just then, I felt something sting me hard in my Tommy.

I winced and held my Tommy tightly. The sting came again and let out a yelp before crouching to the floor.

I felt my entire system on fire and my head became heavy. I was shaking visibly and I felt weak. I let my body drop weakly on the floor as I had no strength in me to call for help.

What is wrong with me? I was okay just a while ago. I'd seen cases like this in the infirmary so many times and cases like this is just because of one thing. My mind drifted to the meal Mayna asked me to eat.. Now it's all clear.

I was poisoned.

Hot tears gushed from my eyes. I felt a foamy liquid gush out of my mouth as I struggled to breath.

My weak, blurry eyes trailed to the door as I saw Mayna walk in. She stood and smirked at me.

That was the last thing I recalled before darkness overwhelmed me.
