She hastily set the glass on the bar counter, stood to leave, and then abruptly sat back down. When she stood up, she felt dizzy all of a sudden. He helped her sit up straight right away.
His smile vanished when he inquired, "Are you okay?"
She shook her head. She was feeling better once again, yet something felt off. She sighed once more.
"I-I'm alright,"
He told the bartender, "Give me a glass of water," and handed her the glass of water.
She accepted it right away and drank everything. She was quite thirsty.
He was worried. "Have you had too much to drink."
Maybe that was merely the result of her allowing the hunger to pass.
She reasoned, "N-not yet."
Her phone vibrated as she was about to say goodbye. She noticed that it was Mhariel calling once more when she gave it a closer look. She hung up the phone in frustration, but Mhariel didn't seem to want to stop.
He took another sip of wine, curious, "Who's that? A jealous boyfriend?"
She paused when she unintentionally accepted Mhariel's video call. "N-no, it was just-"
She was fixated on the screen of her phone. Dino was drinking a beer while lounging in the living room of his leased home. Mhariel could be seen approaching the man. Mhariel continues to glare at the camera as if to aggravate her.
Dino did not object as Mhariel stood close to her ex and kissed him. He instead gave Mhariel a bear hug at the waist.
In an effort to prevent the woman from calling her again, she angrily shut off the video call and the phone.
He inquired, "Problem with your lover?"
She wasn't sure if he was simply inferring from the expression on her face or if he had actually seen what had been on her phone's screen earlier. She returned her gaze to the man's attractive face.
She didn't agree to it merely to spend the rest of the night contemplating the two traitors. She had already stated that she would pretend to be someone else for at least that evening before returning to her heart's ache the following day.
She closed the bag after she placed her phone inside it. Without looking away from the man in front of her, she took the glass that was next to her and drank it immediately.
She believes that the man understood what she was trying to say with her eyes because he continued to drink wine alongside her without averting his gaze.
She was able to notice his clingy expression on her.
When she dropped the empty glass, she wasn't even aware that her lips had begun to smile. She believes the water's relaxing influence, which Sheena claims has made her feel lighter, is to blame.
"Sean, right?" She was the one who voluntarily offered her hand.
"I'm Carina." She had confirmed the name Sheena mentioned earlier.
He gripped her hand firmly and nearly didn't want to let go. She simply extended the time he had her hand instead of taking it away.
Because she enjoyed the sensation that drinking gave her, she didn't stop. She was like a bird out of a cage for the first time. There wasn't even a concept of right or wrong. She simply does what she wants to do. And that night, all she wanted to do was smile constantly and flirt with the man sitting next to her.
Even her voice seemed to be flirting with the man because of how glowing her eyes were. She doesn't often flirt with men and doesn't particularly enjoy it.
Mhariel might have felt this whenever she flirted with other men.
She was unable to take her gaze away from his attractive face. It appears to be pleasant to caress it. She didn't realize one of her hands had reached up to touch his lovely face as he laughed.
"I suppose you're already drunk," he grinned as his face appeared to be too close.
"Sure, I suppose I'm drunk. Your lovely face is intoxicating." Her laughter could be heard when she said that.
He laughed and looked at her face. In an instant, he brought his mouth to her ear.
"Would you like to come with me?
"Yesh... yesh, t-take me with you."
He stood to leave with her, but he remained silent further. Miguel approached them before they walked out of the room.
He grinned and remarked, "So you've met her already," to Sean, who then turned to face her.
Sean gripped her by the waist so she wouldn't lose her balance from the intoxication and inquired in shock, "Who?"
Miguel motioned to her with his hand, "Her. She's our gift to you. Will you open your package right now?"
She, on the other hand, was averting her eyes since she couldn't figure out what the two were saying.
"Gift? You mean to say she's a..." Sean paused before he could finish his thought and returned his attention to her.
While her eyes were still half open, she lifted her face and gave them a beautiful smile.
"Yep! But it's not obvious, is it? Are you going to flee with your gift right now?"
Sean's voice was silent, but Miguel's quiet laugh could be heard.
She suddenly came up to the two, saying, "G-gift. Is it your birthday?"
She waited a long time before the man responded.
"I hope every day is my birthday if you're my gift."
She chuckled unexpectedly. She was unaware of why, but she felt as though she were floating. She couldn't help but laugh nonstop.
She guessed Sheena was right; her coming out was a big help in forgetting for a while the anguish she felt because of her ex and her closest friend.
Sean, I'll take care of telling them. Go now, you two," Miguel said once again.
When Sean began to bring her into the elevator, she simply held on to him. She didn't ask about their destination. She had closed her eyes in his car.
She was simply shocked as she felt her body being lifted. She was being carried by him as they prepared to enter a room. She believes that they are in his house.
He carefully lowered her to the bed and stared at her as she lay. She immediately felt her spirit awaken, and as she slowly rose to sit on the bed, she gazed at him.
She watched him remove each button on his polo shirt one at a time. When she got a glimpse of his hairy chest, she even gasped. She could easily see his gorgeous body when he pulled off his clothes and tossed them on the floor.
As he stopped undressing, he stated seriously, "You can still stop me if you want to."
She was still looking at him when she abruptly wet her mouth with her tongue, something she was unaware of. She saw his strange reaction when he saw what she had done.
"Damn! I don't want you to stop me now!" He muttered as if he had just gasped for air.
Even though their hearts already knew that Baby Alyanah was their child, they still needed to have a DNA test done to comply with protocol. Once it was proven that the baby was indeed their child, they could formally file charges against those responsible at St. Therese Maternity Clinic, including Latonia, Patrick, and the mother-daughter pair of Manang Minda and Divina. Both of them were nervous as they looked at the test results. Their eyes widened in disbelief when they saw the confirmation that Baby Alyanah was truly theirs. Sean embraced her tightly, and a mix of emotions overwhelmed them at that moment. Visitors flocked to their home when they heard the news that their real child was alive. Their parents, siblings, and even their relatives brought their families to their home. They held a baptism for Baby Alyanah alongside a welcome and thanksgiving party for her. Even the young woman who was the biological mother of the deceased baby attended as a guest. They rep
Because crying doesn't help, even though she was scared, she tried to stay calm. She looked out the window and watched the scenery as they passed by.Even the smallest details, she crammed into her mind, hoping they'd be useful if she ever got the chance to escape the man.Her gaze shifted back to the floor of the man’s car. She suddenly felt a surge of hope when she saw something that could help her if he tried to harm her. They had passed mostly wooded areas, and it was still very dark. She noticed Patrick glancing at her now and then."If you agree, we can run away. You can forget about your husband and kids. We can start our own family somewhere no one knows us. Where do you want? London? Australia?"She looked at him in disbelief. He must truly be insane.Instead of rejecting him, she just played along. It’s hard to anger people who seem to have mental problems."What about your job? What about Latonia?" She surprised herself by saying this calmly. She saw the excitement on his f
"Miss, if you don't give me the details of the woman who gave birth before me that night, you might get involved in the case even though you have nothing to do with it," she threatened the receptionist at St. Therese Maternity Clinic. She didn't contact Patrick anymore, especially when she saw that he was the one who spilled water with oil on the floor. She was afraid to confront him, not knowing what could happen to her if he found out that she knew. She went to the police and submitted the evidence she had about the man. He was already listed in the blotter at the station, and she was just waiting for instructions on the next steps. She wanted to inform Sean so that he could accompany her. She knew he would get angry once he found out. He might even go after the man, which was another thing she was afraid of.When she got home, she would tell her husband everything she had discovered and show him the video of the incident at Rajah Hotel. She really needed to know who the woman was w
His forehead furrowed as he read the information provided by the investigator about Patrick de Asis. He already felt a strong aversion toward him when he saw him again with Yazmin. However, it wasn't just jealousy that drove him to have the man investigated. Apparently, Patrick was doing quite well in life. In fact, he was a business partner in one of Latonia's father's enterprises. His brows furrowed even deeper. Could the two of them know each other? What a small world! But why did they seem like strangers when they were in the clinic together? He shrugged. Maybe it was only Latonia's father and Patrick who were acquainted. He shook his head as he discovered that Patrick had three settled cases. He had been reported by three women for stalking them. He knew it! There was something off about the man, especially the way he looked at Yazmin. Based on the report, the man had an obsession with the women he fancied. He wouldn't stop to the point of stalking them, which ex
She slammed the cards down on the table in frustration. "Damn it!" Minda exclaimed angrily. It seemed like she had only won once that day. Bad luck was following her around. Suddenly, the baby lying on her lap, held with just one hand, let out a piercing cry. The sound grated on her nerves. If she weren’t earning money because of this child, she would have gotten rid of it long ago. Besides, she was waiting for the one million pesos payment from Miss Beautiful. Finally, she could get out of this babysitting job. She had never dreamed of taking care of a child at her age. In fact, she had once persuaded Divina to abort her first pregnancy. She almost jumped when the baby's cries grew louder. "Hey, Minda! Feed your grandchild already. It looks starving!" yelled a driver, annoyed by the noise. She was still at the jeepney stop. Even though she wasn’t begging anymore—thanks to the generous woman interested in the baby—she still hung around there. Why? Because she had be
She stayed in that dark corner while holding the baby. She didn’t know what to do with it. It was all Patrick’s fault—letting the baby live. She only used the man when she noticed how much he idolized her, practically worshiping the ground she walked on.It all started with a dummy account. She couldn’t move on after learning that Sean’s employee, whom she thought was an ordinary staff member, was actually his wife. Her father had been hoping Sean would end up with her. When she and Sean were together, everything seemed fine. Even though she heard rumors of him flirting with others, she didn’t mind much. After all, they played the same game. She didn’t want to be tied to one person either. She had her fair share of flings while in a relationship with Sean. But over time, she began to hope that he would take her seriously.
