STANLEY’S POV

I was happy as soon as I saw Petals walk into the hospital room with Mimi. I kept playing video games because I was bored to death and I know it would remain like that if Mimi comes back. We rarely talk or even communicate.

The dating news that was released was because of my mother who insisted on marrying someone like her due to the influence of her family. I refused to have anything to do with her but my mother pleaded for just a blind date.

“I am not interested” I insisted firmly

“You will have to forfeit the right to your company” she threatened me

“How can you do that? I am the owner of my company” I objected strongly and she cackled

“Have you forgotten that I am the biggest shareholder? If you want to win over me then you have to fight for it” she remarked and it sank in

She was the one that set up the company for me and funded most of the things I had in the company even though I had been steadily paying her back but if she pull out at this time, I would be in deb

I raised my head to see what I collided with since it was rock hard and firm only to see half naked Stanley in front of me. The fear and shocked that gripped me was beyond control and I didn’t know when I opened up my mouth wide to scream but to my surprise, he kissed my mouth shut. That was another source of shock to me but this time, my throat was voiceless. My mouth hung open in surprise at how he could do that and when he saw that I had no energy to shout anymore, she stepped back.I didn’t think twice before I gave him a hot slap across the face and I was sure that he also wasn’t expecting that kind of reaction from me. It was at the moment when he grabbed his red cheek that I realized what I had done.“My hand moved faster than my brain” I mumbled and my forehead folded into a frown borne out of confusion.I tried crossing into the line of regret but my pride wouldn’t allow me. Something kept screaming that I wasn’t wrong and I decided to follow the voice even if it leads to me

She stood at the entrance when she heard her voice lashing at Stanley who just stood there, absorbing every words from her.“Is something the matter? Did you two get in a fight?” she asked, rushing to meet Petals who was walking angrily back to her room“Pamela, I don’t want to offend you or lash out at you so I’d appreciate it if you don’t talk about Stanley. I don’t want to hear anything about him for now” Petals stated, trying to stay calm and composedWith Pamela’s hand in the air, she backed out and respected her request.“I am sorry for asking, I think it would be best for you to take a rest for now” she advised and closed the doorStanley handled the rest of the cooking and called everyone to eat but Petals didn’t come out of her room. STANLEY’S POVThe thought of losing Petals or her getting hurt was driving me crazy so bad that I wanted to call on the entire security team to have her found in seconds but the team members kept reassuring me that she would be fine.Pamela went in to check if she was back before us and it was then she found her phone lying on the sink in the bathroom.“Petals! You are so frustrating” I gritted between my teeth as I held unto her phoneI was thankful that the mountain had no wild animals because it was reserved for our family so I was sure that she won’t be a prey to any animals and the chance of her falling is low since it’s not steep.“Let’s all go towards her direction and see if we can find her before the sun goes down” I commanded and we all started the journey. After walking for thirty minutes and screaming her name every now and then, we finally saw a help signal flying high in the bush.“Isn’t that where she is? That’s the help flag” Pamela called our attention to it and we en

PETALS’ POVI didn’t know the exact reason why I allowed the kiss in the first place but I am not going to lie, it was worth it. Stanley knew exactly the right thing to do, he knew the right angle to position both my lips and his, and only thing could explain how, which is, he has tried kissing different ladies till he was perfect.“Don’t get carried away. You are just one of the ladies” I warned myself as I ate silently on the table with others, trying my best to avoid his gaze.“Also, he has Joan Mimi by his side. I don’t even stand a chance” I thought, snapping out of the kiss’s remembrance.I made sure I wasn’t in the same space with him till we left the resort and things were also especially awkward between me and the team leader even since Stanley threatened her on my behalf.*****Work resumed and everything began like normal. I was collating the articles for the day when Bea rushed into the office suddenly.“Ma’am, the police sent the report over” she declared and I was lost a

The ride was a bit quiet until he broke the silence by asking how I had been all these years. I contemplated if the past is what I should discuss with him but concluded that talking would be better than the silence.“It wasn’t easy but I pulled through. I had to deal with so many things which you are also aware of some but in the end, here I am doing fine because they molded me into the woman I am today” I responded honestly and he paused for a while“Was I also a part of the painful past that you had to deal with?” he slowly proceededWith a deep sigh, I rested my head on the car’s header.“Well, I don’t know what to say concerning you. I think I had a lot going on for me that I couldn’t dwell on your own part of my life. I had to take care of myself and my sister so thinking about our past was not even in the top priorities. Things happened and we went our way, nothing to hold unto except regrets, guilt and other longing feelings but I overcame that as time went by” I responded onc

We didn’t hesitate to blend in with the other people in the rowdy club. The red lights were busy penetrating into our eyes without permission, giving me so many discomfort but I tried to stay calm and reserved in order not to ruin the operation. After getting a table, we ordered for our drinks and began to snoop around the waiters and waitresses.“Do you know her? I would like to meet with her” I said to one of them, showing them the dead lady’s picture. They all shook their heads as I was asking them one after the other but it was certain that some of them knew whom she was. They were pretending and it was obvious from their unsettled movements and gazes. One of the ladies came around to fill our glasses and Pamela slowly reached out for her spare hand that was on the table. The lady was shocked at first but seeing a wide smile on Pamela’s luscious lips, she got less nervous.“Do you want to help me out sweetie? Embarrassment flushed through my entire system as he played my savior role right there. Why was he always popping up at the moment when I needed intervention? We came here together to have fun as you can see” he stated and walked closer to me.All of a sudden, he smacked the hands that were on my body off and dragged me over to his side by the waist. Gently caressing my hairline and setting the stray hair, he started to say things that almost made me drop my jaws.“Sweetie, how did you get caught up in their net? Since you are for me alone, I utterly detest how their hands are around me. It took a whole week for Gemma to come to her senses. She always cowered in fear whenever anyone came close to her, even to the point of food. Since she was also curious and he wouldn’t come out to tell them why he ran inside, she rushed to the room too to check what was happening.“Did something happen? Did you find out about something?” she asked, staring at her“The news reminded me of a case I found out while I was making some research.
