MARCUS'S POV

I thought Adrian was the man for me. I really did. From the moment we got together, I believed he was the one. I gave him everything— my love, my time, my trust. I didn’t hold anything back. But he betrayed me. Not once, not twice, but again and again.

At first, I blamed myself. Maybe I wasn’t good enough. Maybe I wasn’t attractive enough or exciting enough to keep him satisfied. Maybe I was doing something wrong. But over time, I realized that it wasn’t me. It was him. That’s just the kind of person he is— a liar, a cheater. Someone who can never truly love anyone but himself.

And yet, even after everything, he still says he loves me. As if those words mean anything when they come from him.

Adrian is rich. He owns one of the biggest restaurants here in Hell’s Kitchen. Everyone knows his place, and everyone knows who protects it— the Dogs of Hell. They are dangerous, violent, and completely unpredictable. But Adrian doesn’t care. As long as his business is safe, he doesn’t mind working with criminals.

I tried to hold on. I told myself that maybe he would change. Maybe, if I just loved him enough, he would stop cheating. But I was only lying to myself. And when the cheating became too much, I knew I had to walk away.

So, I did.

Or at least, I thought I did.

But Adrian never agreed to the breakup.

I told him it was over. I made it clear that I wanted nothing to do with him anymore. But somehow, he acted like I never said those words. He still comes to my store like we’re together. He still checks up on me, still brings me food. When I’m not around, he sneaks in and leaves meals for me. He even cleans up the place sometimes.

I don’t know why he does it. Maybe he feels guilty. Maybe he thinks he can win me back with these little acts of kindness. And maybe, deep down, I start to believe it too. Maybe he does love me. Maybe I should give him another chance.

Then, the Dogs of Hell lose control.

It happens so fast. One minute, I’m organizing my store like any other day. The next, they barge in like wild animals. They grab whatever they can, knocking things over, breaking shelves, stealing anything that looks valuable.

I stand frozen, my heart pounding in my chest. I want to scream, to fight back, but I know better. No one fights the Dogs of Hell and wins.

And then, he walks in.

Daniel.

The first time I see him in person, everything changes.

Everyone knows who he is. The Demon of Hell’s Kitchen. The most feared man in New York. He controls everything— the streets, the businesses, even the police. His name alone is enough to make grown men shake with fear.

When he steps into my store, the air feels different. Heavy. Like the entire room is holding its breath.

His men move fast. Gunshots echo through the store as they take down the Dogs of Hell one by one. Bodies hit the ground. The chaos is over in seconds.

And then, Daniel looks at me.

Really looks at me.

His eyes are dark, unreadable. He steps forward, slow and controlled, like he has all the time in the world. Then, he speaks.

"Can I get your phone number?"

I blink, unsure if I heard him right. "What for?"

He tilts his head slightly, almost amused. "I saved your store. Shouldn’t I get something in return?"

I should say no. I should turn around and walk away. But I don’t.

Instead, I pull out my phone and, before I can think twice, I give him my number.

That night, I nearly drop my phone when it rings.

I wasn’t expecting him to actually call. But he does. And we talk. For hours.

And to my surprise, I’m not bored. Not even for a second.

Daniel is... different. He’s not just some criminal. He’s smart. He’s interesting. He listens when I talk. He makes me laugh. And by the time we hang up, I find myself wondering— how can this be the same man that everyone in New York whispers about?

"This guy is interesting," I say to myself.

The next day, he asks me out.

I don’t say yes right away. I play hard to get. Of course, I do. I have standards. And besides, dating a man like Daniel? That’s asking for trouble. Big trouble. His enemies would become my enemies.

And I don’t even have time to prepare for it, because trouble finds me first.

So this night, I’m deep in sleep when a gunshot jolts me awake.

I sit up, my heart slamming against my ribs. Maybe I imagined it. Maybe I’m still dreaming.

Then— another shot.

And another.

Loud. Close. Real.

Fear grips my chest like an iron fist.

Before I can even move, my front door is kicked open with a deafening crash.

I freeze.

Heavy footsteps. Shadows moving.

Then, hands grab me. Strong, rough hands. I try to struggle, but they’re too powerful. They drag me out of my room, down the hall, into the living room.

And that’s when I see him.

Gideon.

The leader of the Dogs of Hell.

He’s worse than Daniel, I think. A true monster. A man who doesn’t just kill— he enjoys it. According to what I have heard.

He stands in front of me now, a wicked grin stretching across his face. In his hand, he holds a gun. And it’s pointed straight at my head.

"If I can’t get to Daniel," he says, his voice cold and mocking, "at least I have you—his man."

My breath catches.

His man?

I wanted to lie to him. That I’m not with Daniel. That I’m nobody.

But the words won’t come.

Gideon cocks the gun.

My heart pounds so hard I feel it in my throat.

I don’t know what’s worse— the fear of dying or the terrifying realization that I might not be able to escape this life.

And then, I understand.

This isn’t just about me.

This is about Daniel.

This is about war.

And I am caught in the middle.

I don’t have time for delays. Something doesn’t feel right, and I need to get there as soon as possible. The ride feels longer than usual. LIAM’S POVThe day was supposed to be perfect.I stood in front of the mirror, my hands trembling slightly as I adjusted my tie. My reflection stared back at me— dark eyes filled with excitement and just a touch of nervousness. Today, I was marrying the love of my life, Marcus."Liam, you look like you’re about to pass out."I turned to see Jonah, my best friend, standing in the doorway with a smirk.I chuckled, shaking my head. "Can you blame me? It’s my wedding day.""Yeah, but you should be happy, not looking like you’re about to run for your life." He walked over, fixing my tie for me. "Marcus loves you. We all know it. After everything, you both deserve this happiness."I smiled, feeling my nerves settle. Jonah was right. Marcus and I had been through so much to get to this point. LIAM'S POVI sat in the car, watching Marcus as he drove. The sound of the engine filled the silence between us, but my mind was anything but quiet. I couldn’t take my eyes off him. Every time he shifted gears or glanced at the rearview mirror, memories of us together came rushing back— the soft touches, the warm hugs, the deep kisses. But more than anything, I remembered the nights we spent tangled in each other, whispering secrets in the dark, promising things that no longer held meaning in this timeline. My chest tightened painfully.I had come back to this time to change things, to prevent the inevitable. Yet, sitting next to him now, I felt the weight of everything all over again. The overwhelming realization that I was here, in this moment, reliving something that was both familiar and foreign at the same time, made it hard to breathe."Why are you staring at me?" Marcus asked suddenly. His voice wasn’t harsh, but it wasn’t soft either. It was just... Marcus. Firm, steady, and f

"And when I didn’t see you, I decided to prepare your favorite meal."His voice was too calm, too familiar, as if nothing had changed. Normally, Adrian and Marcus had broken up two months before I originally met Marcus. Adrian owned one of the biggest restaurants in Hell’s Kitchen. He was a chef, successful and confident, but right now, he seemed desperate. I could tell he wanted something— another chance."Adrian, I want you out of my house," Marcus said, his voice sharp with anger.Adrian exhaled heavily and pulled off his apron. "I’m sorry, Marcus," he said, stepping forward. "It was a mistake. I was drunk that night.""Don’t come any closer. LIAM'S POVI kneel on the cold floor, my hands slightly raised, my breath coming in short, uneven gasps. The gun pointed at my head makes my heartbeat loud in my ears. This wasn’t what I expected. I knew coming here would be dangerous, but I didn’t think I would be staring down the barrel of a gun this soon.Daniel’s eyes bore into mine as he drags a chair across the room and sits down, the gun never wavering. His grip is firm, steady— it is so obvious he is good at it. His eyes are cold, filled with suspicion and something else I can’t quite place. He is waiting for me to speak, but I stay silent, trying to calm my racing thoughts.“I’ll advise you to remove my face, Gideon,” he says, his voice eerily calm. “I know it’s you. Transform back to yourself, or I’ll put a bullet in your head.”I take a slow, deep breath, forcing myself to stay calm. DANIEL'S POVPeople always wonder how I have become so successful in the hard drug business. They whisper about it in dark corners, trying to figure out my secret. Some think I have powerful connections, others believe I am just lucky. They make up stories, crafting theories about how I rose to the top. But none of them know the truth.Luck has nothing to do with it.I tricked nature itself. This world isn’t just a place for humans to live, work, and die. It is more than just land, water, and air. It is bound by forces that most people cannot see— forces that shape everything around us, guiding our lives in ways we do not understand. These forces are more than ideas; they are beings, real and powerful. They walk among us, unseen and unheard, yet always present.Luck, Mistake, Lie, Truth, Death, Life, and many more. They are the invisible hands keeping the world in balance, whether we realize it or not.And years ago, I made a deal with one of them— Mistake. The deal was simple. I woul

  • THE OTHER ME WANT MY MAN   Chapter 12: THREE MONTHS TO LIVE… AND A BULLET TO DODGE

LIAM'S POVAfter what Rainbow said, my mind refuses to rest. The thought of Gideon going after Marcus keeps circling in my head like a vulture waiting for its prey. It doesn’t make sense— at least not to me. In my world, Gideon is my best friend. We graduated together from NYC, both of us young and ambitious chemists who had the world at our feet. We had plans— big ones. We spent late nights in the lab, pushing boundaries, dreaming of making breakthroughs in science. So what changed? Why does Gideon want Marcus dead?I rack my brain for answers, but nothing fits. This version of reality feels like a puzzle with missing pieces. But one thing is clear— I can’t let Marcus die.Scott pulls up outside the mansion, the tires crunching softly against the gravel driveway. He parks smoothly, killing the engine before turning to look at me. His face is unreadable, but his voice is even when he speaks.“The box, sir?” He gestures toward the heavy case filled with cash, his tone professional.I g

LAIM'S POVI stood outside Marcus’s house, my heart pounding hard in my chest. The cool night air brushed against my skin, but it did nothing to calm the heat of panic rising inside me. The scent of flowers I had carefully arranged still lingered, mixing with the rich, savory aroma of the meal I had spent hours preparing. Every detail had been planned perfectly— every candle placed with purpose, every decoration arranged just right. I had cleaned every corner, making sure the place looked exactly as I imagined. Tonight was supposed to be special. A night Marcus would never forget. But everything changed the moment he arrived.I heard the familiar sound of his car pulling into the driveway, the low hum of the engine sending shivers down my spine. I had been excited at first, ready to surprise him, ready to see the look on his face when he stepped inside. But then, another sound reached my ears— the unmistakable voice of a voice that sounds like mine.Daniel was with him.A wave of pani

GIDEON'S POVI sit in my dimly lit office, the only source of light coming from the streetlamps outside. The scent of burning tobacco fills the air, thick and heavy, clinging to my clothes, my skin, my thoughts. I take a slow drag from my cigarette and exhale, watching the smoke curl toward the ceiling. Beyond the glass windows, the city stretches before me like a living beast— dark, restless, unforgiving.Hell’s Kitchen. My battlefield. My home. My prison. And at the center of it all is him.Daniel.The man who was once my best friend. The man I should have left for dead a long time ago.We started this journey together. Two young men, full of dreams and ambition, fresh out of NYC. Two brilliant chemists ready to change the world. We had the knowledge, the talent, the drive. But the world didn’t change because of us.
