Morane could not answer, her body trembled as she fought the power that refused to release her.
Her breath came in short, her vision getting blurred, the blood in her eyes clouding her sight, but she could still feel the twins' presence within the circle. "MORANE STOPPP, RIGHT NOW!" Aiden shouted right after his brother. "I… can't…" she gasped. Her arms were already aching, her head also throbbing, and the pain was nearly unbearable. But despite the pain she felt, she fought to stay conscious. Bryan and Aiden could not stand there anymore and tried to run to her. But as they tried, she picked up the sound from their footsteps, immediately she forced herself to scream, "DON'T LEAVE THE CIRCLE." Bryan and Aiden stopped in their tracks, all the while staring at her. "We have to do something, Morane," Bryan said to her. Before she could respond, the energy within the circle and around her surged violently, and with a powerful force blasted through the space and flung her backward like a rag doll. Morane hit the trunk of a nearby tree with a bone-shattering thud, her body crumpling to the ground heaped. She let out a sharp gasp as she collided with the tree, pain exploding throughout her body, in her ribs and shoulders. She groaned and tried to push herself up, but she was weak, and she knew she was going to go unconscious if she didn't push herself to stay awake. Furthermore, she did not want to leave Bryan and Aiden here alone either because it was not over yet. She forced her eyes open, her gaze blurry but sharp enough to see Bryan and Aiden rushing toward her. As they ran toward her, their instincts screaming to help her, just as they reached the edge of the circle, they slammed into something invisible. A Barrier. It made them stumble backwards. Bryan moved his hands through the air. There was nothing there, yet the barrier was there. "What is this?" he muttered to himself under his breath as he tried to figure out what was going on and what exactly they could do next. They were trapped in the circle. This was not exactly how they thought things would end. Even though they were not sure of it working, this was highly unexpected. Suddenly, both Bryan and Aiden felt their throats tighten. It was as if the very oxygen around them was being sucked away. They could not breathe no matter how hard they tried. Bryan clawed at his throat, his lungs trying to scream for air. "Aiden…" he choked out, his voice very low and barely above a whisper. He tried reaching for Aiden who had collapsed to his knees, him also collapsing to his knees. Their vision started getting blurry from the lack of oxygen. Morane, who was on the other side, trying to stay conscious, watched in horror as they began to choke. Their eyes had started turning pale. She knew she had to act. There was no time to hesitate. With every ounce of energy left in her battered body, she dragged herself up onto her knees, the pain she felt increased with every movement. Her voice was weak, but the desperation she felt was undeniable. Morane extended her trembling hands toward the circle. She had to break it, or they would die. Through her bloodied lips, she began to speak. Her voice was filled with so much desperation and anger. "Vincula tenent quae... Aperite circulum umbrarum potestas..." Each world that left her mouth was filled with intent, raw energy. Watching Bryan and Aiden, trying so hard to breathe, increased her desperation. She could not let them die. "Vitae aspirate iterum...seit iterum." As the spell left her mouth, the salt that formed the circle blew apart instantly, the barrier collapsing on itself. As soon as the barrier fell, she went for Bryan and Aiden, who were still struggling to breathe and on the verge of collapsing totally. "Vitae redde... flatus vitae… respirate!" She shouted, her hands trembling with exhaustion as the final words left her mouth. Immediately, the energy in the air shifted. Bryan and Aiden gasped once more, this time, air rushed into their lungs. They were finally able to breathe. "Are you good?" Aiden asked Bryan. "Yes, yes," Bryan nodded. "What about you? What… what just happened?" he asked between breaths. Aiden coughed violently before answering. "Morane… she saved us, she was able to stop it," he muttered, his voice hoarse. Seeing that they were okay now, Morane smiled proudly to herself before she collapsed to the ground, allowing the darkness to claim her. Once Bryan and Aiden regained their breath and self, they exchanged a brief glance before their instincts kicked in. Without a word, they both ran toward her. She was still lying on the ground, motionless. "Morane!" Bryan called out as he dropped to his knees beside her, his hands reaching for her shoulders, shaking her gently. "Morane, wake up! Can you hear me?" Her body remained limp, her head lolling to the side. "She is still breathing. I can hear her heart beat, but it is faint. She seems to be in a very critical condition," Aiden said to Bryan. "We need to take her back to the pack. We need to move now!" Without wasting much time, Bryan lifted her up as they rushed to their car. Aiden jumped into the driver's seat, while Bryan was with Morane at the back, her head on his lap. "Come on, Morane," he whispered, "just hang in there." Blood still streaked her face from where it had dropped from her nose and ears during the ritual. "How is she?" Aiden asked, glancing at Bryan in the rearview mirror, his voice tight. "Still the same," Bryan shook his head slightly. "She is alive but not waking up. Just drive faster." Aiden sped up, and soon they reached the pack and got down from the car, Morane in Bryan's arms. Some warriors ran up to them, noticing that something was off. "Get me the healer, now!" Aiden ordered. The healer was the one who handled magical or supernatural injuries, and so on, and was the best option for what had happened to Morane than going to their Pack hospital. The Pack Doctors deal with regular physical injuries, illness, and so on.Aiden slammed open the door after giving orders to some guards and telling them to inform Ryker. His breath was heavy as Bryan walked in and carefully laid Morane on the soft couch, her body still fragile. The soft fabric of the couch sagged slightly as Bryan gently placed her down, her breathing shallow and her face pale and stained with blood."Please get me some water," Bryan said to Aiden, taking out his handkerchief which was in his pocket.Aiden went into Morane's kitchen to look for some water and came back with water in a bowl. Then Bryan dipped his handkerchief, soaking it.When the handkerchief was soaked to how he wanted it to be. He used it to clean the blood stain from Morane's face. She was no longer bleeding, it had stopped.Mome
"What is that?" Kira asked Bryan, turning to look at him."The mark under your left arm," he answered."What mark? Let me see," Aiden jumped in and took a look. "How come I haven't seen it before?""Me neither." Bryan said."I don't know?" Kira laughed softly. "To answer your question, yes. That mark has always been there, it's a birthmark. Since I was born, I have had it.""It's beautiful," Bryan said while smiling at her."Thank you, sweetie," Kira said, blushing. It might be the first time she called him that, or any of them even."Now you both, close your eyes and sleep," She said right after, urging them to sleep while their arms were now wrapped around her in a comfortable position."Yes ma'am!" Bryan and Aiden stated as they did as she said.In no time, they slept off. Although Kira was still awake. She smiled as she looked at their faces, before closing her eyes and also sleeping off.Later, Kira woke up before both of them and slipped out of bed. When she woke up, breakfast w
Once the whole family was done with breakfast, as usual, everyone went their separate ways. Bryan and Aiden went to see Morane, discussed a few things before they both left, and Aiden left for his meeting.Bryan also had some work to do in the pack, and Kira had started training. One of the best male warriors in the pack was assigned to train her, their Beta, Ryker and sporadically Bryan and Aiden decided they would also assist in training her and knowing about her improvements. By right she should have trained before breakfast and all, but because of her visit to see Morane she missed it. Bryan asked her to start the next day, but she insisted on starting some hours after her breakfast had been digested. Her training was taking place on a reserved training ground just for her. Not many people would be able to see her train unless allowed to. For now, that was more appropriate for her and her mates."Are you ready for this?" Ryker asked, his voice gruff but not unkind. Ryker was seri
Bryan tried to keep his face serious after Kira had asked him if he was also laughing at her, but the corners of his mouth twitched uncontrollably and his cheeks flushed with the effort of him trying so hard not to laugh. The laughter dancing in his eyes despite his attempt to be serious was very obvious.Kira playfully smacked his shoulder and detached herself from him. "I will walk myself, thank you very much," she said as she started making her way to the stairs.Bryan, barely holding back his laughter, called after her as he followed her, "Sorry, my love! I didn't mean to laugh, really!""Oh, stop it," Kira said to him, not turning back to look at him as she kept walking."You are still laughing, and it's so obvious," she stated as she took a few shaky steps toward the stairs. Her leg wobbled dangerously, and she almost fell, but she caught herself just in time."Whoa, that was close," she said to herself, releasing a relieved breath. As she steadied herself and wanted to start wa
Kira ended up settling for a light, olive-green dress with nice tie-up shoulder straps and a soft flowy skirt. Her dress was textured with tiny dots, adding to its beauty and paired with white sneakers, letting her hair flow freely.Kira came downstairs, glancing around the living room, but could not find Bryan."Bryan?" She called out softly, her brow furrowed, confused. "Bryan? Where are you?"A moment later, Bryan came out from the kitchen, a smile on his face as he saw her looking so beautiful, waiting for him."Beautiful as always," he complimented, giving her a kiss on her cheek as he held a large black bag over his shoulder."Thank you," Kira blushed, her heart skipping a beat. "You look handsome as always, too, very hot." "Thank you my love," Bryan said, giving her another kiss on her cheek. "Now, please turn around and close your eyes," he instructed."Okayy?" Kira chuckled and complied, her heart fluttering with excitement as she heard him search through the bag. Then she f
After they finished their meal, Bryan reached over and grabbed a soft blanket from the bag, wrapping it around both of them."This is really nice," Kira murmured and snuggled into his chest, resting her head against his shoulder as they watched how the river moved silently. Bryan smiled to himself and held her closer, caressing her hair, "It's perfect, especially with you here," he said to her. They sat in comfortable silence for a little while, just enjoying the tranquility of the night and their company."You know, I always dreamed of a place like this," Kira said softly, breaking the silence as she snuggled closer. "A quiet, beautiful spot where I could just… escape for a while.""This could be that spot for you. It's also my spot, but I don't mind sharing it with you," He told her, still rubbing her hair softly.Kira nodded and closed her eyes, feeling very relaxed. "Can I see them?" She asked after some minutes."Who?" Bryan asked, not sure of what she was talking about."My par
Their date night had finally come to an end after a cool swim, and now Bryan and Kira were heading back home. They arranged and packed up their stuff before leaving and when they got back to the room, they noticed that Aiden was back and everyone had already had dinner. Well, that was not a problem as they had already eaten too."So lovebirds, how was your little date?" Aiden asked them immediately as they walked into the room."It was fantastic, I absolutely loved it," Kira said, smiling widely, answering for both herself and Bryan."More than mine?" Aiden inquired teasingly."Stop it, I loved both. I like that my first dates were unique, different, sweet and all. Don't even think about comparing, even you too Bryan," Kira warned them, not wanting that vibe."I know, I know, just pulling your little legs, nothing more," Aiden laughed and got on his bed, laying on his end."My legs are not little," she shook her head at Aiden, "And I will freshen up and get ready for the night," Kira
The werewolf curse, a legacy of the origin of werewolves, was what defined their existence. To trigger this curse, one would have to have killed someone. It does not matter whether it was a mistake or not, when once one has killed someone, your curse is automatically activated or rather triggered. Not everyone in Packs have triggered their curse yet, like kids, teenagers, and so on, but it will happen because it was meant to happen, no matter how long it takes or how long one tries to avoid it. And for those who have not triggered their curse yet, they don't transform on the full moon until their curse is triggered. So until then, they remain unaffected. But one can feel when their inner wolf is with them, especially when they have turned eighteen and they can also smell their mate. The werewolf curse is sure as hell tricky and can be confusing at times. Many werewolves decide to trigger their curse on their own, intentionally, no mistakes, so they can train and be able to learn contr
Dinner was great as always—the laughing, the conversation, the playful banter, everything. It was no surprise that manners were forgotten at the dining table, hence the talking while eating, and now everyone was relaxed and chatting as they were all done eating."Dad, Aiden and Bryan are just… they just won't stop messing with me," Kira complained to Orion, gesturing to Aiden and Bryan, who were grinning at first but immediately kept their faces serious when she complained about them."What now?" Orion asked Kira after looking over at his twins. "What are they doing this time?""Nothing," Bryan answered before Kira could. "We are literally not doing anything to her except keeping her on her toes. She can't even stay still on those toes, you know. We are simply just having fun, father.""Exactly," Aiden said and nodded in agreement. "We are not doing anything to her.""Seriously?" Kira asked them, although she hid her smile and feigned annoyance, just so Orion could side with her."So
Kira's mouth dropped open. "You—!"But before she could even finish what she was about to say, Bryan, who was already close to her, leaned down and planted a quick peck on her cheek, making her eyes widen instantly. The audacity! Then, without giving her a chance to retaliate, he moved past her and took his seat at the dining table like nothing had happened.Laughing softly and shaking his head, Aiden stepped closer to Kira and stood beside her. "Bryan, I don't even know what to say to you," he muttered, while still laughing.Meanwhile, Elara and Orion looked at each other with amused expressions before turning their attention back to Kira."Well, at least he was honest about it." Orion said to Kira while chuckling, enjoying how his son teased her. "I'll get back at you, Bryan Tyrell," Kira threatened, narrowing her eyes at Bryan and crossing her arms. "Oh, I will!"Still laughing softly, Aiden leaned in and pressed a soft peck to the side of her head. "Don't mind him," he murmured a
Kira smiled warmly and raised her hand to Aiden's cheek. She caressed his cheeks, her smile growing wider, before she leaned in and gave him a soft peck on the lips. "Let's go," she whispered, her gaze not leaving his.Aiden nodded and smiled back as he started pulling away to stand; his heart warmed from her gentle affection and soft peck.As Kira sat up and got ready to get out of bed, she glanced around, noticing that Bryan wasn't in the room. "Where's Bryan?" She asked Aiden, her brows furrowed slightly. "Did he go somewhere?"Aiden opened his mouth to respond, but before he could speak, the bathroom door opened and Bryan walked out."I'm here," Bryan said in a casual, deep voice. "Missing me already?"Kira turned, a smile creeping up her face again. "Yes. As a matter of fact, I missed you so very much," she admitted as she got up and walked toward him before he could reach the bed.She stood close, Bryan looking at her with a playful smile and a raised eyebrow. He tilted his h
Kira walked slightly ahead of her mates as they returned home together, her heart and mind full.Aiden was the first to take her hand, walking closer and slipping his hand under hers before curling his fingers around hers. His grip was gentle at first, and then he held her closer. As Kira felt his hold, she turned her head slightly, her brown eyes meeting his dark ones, and smiled softly at him before looking ahead again.Meanwhile, Bryan, watching them, walked closer. He decided to do the same as his brother and slid his fingers between Kira's, his hold warm. Kira smiled softly and turned to him, not surprised that he had followed Aiden, her eyes full of love.As they held her hands and walked back home, they didn't let go, and soon they reached the mansion. The house was quiet when they stepped inside, but they didn't stop. They walked up the stairs and entered their bedroom together, still holding hands. It was only when they reached the bed after shutting the door did they final
Leaning into Bryan, Kira took slow, uneven breaths, trying to calm herself. She knew it wasn't their fault for making such a decision, but it didn't help with how she felt inside. She was sad, exhausted and emotionally drained. She knew they would do anything for her, yet those words, "We can't ask you to wait for us," lingered, and it pained her so much. It pained her that there was nothing much she could do but leave. Staying might destroy them even more than leaving. And Kira knew that. She let out a shaky breath as Bryan rubbed her back and whispered sweet, soft words to her, her weight pressing into him as she could no longer really hold herself up. "It's okay," Bryan murmured, his chin resting lightly on the top of her head while he continued rubbing her back in slow, comforting circles. "We are here. We got you."Hearing those words from him almost made her start crying again, but she held back and nodded against his chest, whispering, "I know, and I got you too."Bryan, also
Stepping outside, Bryan leaned against the outer wall. He tilted his head back and closed his eyes, his chest heaving as he tried to calm himself and steady his breathing, but that was impossible. The ache in his heart refused to let up. He took deep breaths and exhaled shakily, his knuckles already white because of how tightly he balled his fists. After some minutes of inhaling and exhaling, he tightened and relaxed his fists, before he felt a hand on his shoulder.Bryan didn't need to check when he felt the hand on his shoulder; he just prepared himself, knowing what was coming, and he knew that whatever was coming was going to be for the best."You know what we have to do." Aiden's voice was low, controlled, and filled with the pain he didn't try to hide. He stepped closer, his hand still on Bryan's shoulder. "It will be for the best.""I know, Aiden," Bryan nodded, his throat tightening as his voice broke slightly. "I know. I just—" He stopped, closed his eyes and sucked in anot
Aiden raked a hand through his hair, the hopelessness of the situation frustrating the life out of him. "I don't understand," he said to Morane, the frustration in his tone fully on display. "There has to be another way! What do you mean, we have to stop being mates?""Look, I am not angry with you. You have done a lot for us, and we are genuinely grateful, but this…this was the last thing I expected to hear. I never even expected to ever hear such," he said as he leaned forward slightly and ran his hands over his face before gripping his hair in desperation. "This curse of a thing is just so exhausting.""I know, I understand," Morane said, raising her hands slightly. "But listen to me first. Please calm down," she said softly, fully understanding what the three of them were currently going through. "The curse can only be broken by the witch who cursed you or someone from her bloodline. Do you understand what that means? We do not even know who the witch is. Talk more about someone f
Bryan, Aiden, and Kira immediately rose from their seats, shocked by what they had just heard. They exchanged quick glances as each of them waited to hear what Morane would say next."What is it?" Aiden asked, stepping forward slightly. "What is the curse?""This is not a matter to be discussed here," Morane said with a shake of her head. "Please, come with me.""That is true," Aiden said, nodding in agreement. "Alright, let's go."At that moment, the maid Kira had instructed earlier came out of the kitchen, carrying the reheated dishes on a tray. "Alphas, Luna," the maid called out as she began placing them on the table. "Are you going somewhere? The food is ready.""About the food," Kira said. "Just put it back for now. We will eat later.""Okay, Luna," the maid replied and nodded obediently. Then, the maid gathered the dishes back on the tray and returned to the kitchen.Morane, who was about to leave, stopped when the maid called out to the Alphas and Kira. And when Kira was done
Bryan and Aiden agreed without hesitation, and Kira followed them out of the room, down the passage until they stopped in front of the hidden room door.Aiden pushed it open and stepped aside so she could enter first. As Kira entered, she looked around, and it was definitely not what she had expected. The room felt too impersonal, too functional. It felt like a cell to her. Her eyes scanned the room, and then she noticed the shelf on one side.On the shelf, she saw small bottles filled with liquids. The contents themselves looked quite strange as she picked it up carefully and asked, "What is this?""Morane made that for us," Bryan explained as he stepped closer, watching her calm expression to everything. "It is meant to help us for the curse. She is also the one who told us to prepare a room like this when she first found out about the curse. She wanted us to be prepared just in case, because she had a very bad feeling about everything.""I see," Kira nodded, turning the bottle in h
