Night sky… The moon shone so bright. The thick canopy of trees overhead, blocking out most of the moonlight, casting eerie shadows across the forest floor.
Her breath came in ragged gasps as she sprinted through the woods, her heart pounding like a war drum in her chest. Leaves crunched underfoot, and the sharp scent of like filled her nostrils, mingling with the coppery tang of fear on her tongue. Moving through trees, she could not shake the feeling that they were right behind her, that any second she'd feel their hands on her, dragging her back and stopping her from freedom. The pack was located in New Orleans deep within the woods, away from humans. She just needed to keep moving, she could make it. As she kept running, her foot caught on a root, sending her sprawling to the ground with a muffled cry. She wrapped her hand around her mouth as hard as she could, to stop herself from making any sound that might implicate her. Immediately she pushed herself back up, despite the ache she felt all over her body, and kept running. She has hope. She was getting closer, just had to keep going. Furthermore, she could almost taste freedom. But before she could reach it, a dark figure came out from nowhere and stepped into her path, blocking her way. She skidded to a stop, heart plummeting as she met the cold, dark gaze of Aiden. He smiled. But his smile was unpredictable and deadly, it did not reach his cold eyes. Kira moved backwards slowly, almost tripping as her legs felt weak, only to slam into a hard chest. She did not need to turn around to know it was Bryan, as she could already feel his gaze boring into her soul. There was nowhere left to run. Kira's body froze as Bryan's hand gripped her arm, the strength in his hold leaving no room for escape. She felt a cold shiver run down her spine, her heart pounding in her chest. She still tried to pull away, but he didn't flinch, instead his grip tightened with a silent warning. Aiden had notified his warriors and trackers, calling off the search as they had found her. As they were not saying anything, shouting or threatening her, anything at all, it increased the panic that clawed at her throat. Their silence was much more scary as she imagined what they would do to her now. This was the worst thing that could have happened to her. Her being caught. Her legs felt like jelly, threatening to give out beneath her as she was forced to walk beside him. Not only that, but her legs got weaker and were unable to support her. When Kira stumbled, Bryan effortlessly scooped her up, throwing her over his shoulder as if she weighed nothing. The forest blurred as she was carried back, her breath catching in her throat every time a branch snapped under his boots. Aiden was walking side by side with them, none of them saying a word. It was as if they were discussing between themselves. On the other hand, Kira was tempted to ask what they would do to her, but the words stuck in her throat, choked by fear. Every scenario that ran through her mind ended in pain and punishment. She was too scared to know the truth, she did not even know if she should just start pleading or something. Whatever she tried to do, fear did not let her. As they reached the pack, the warriors who were waiting for further orders looked relieved, others curious, but none seemed surprised. It was as if they had always known she would not get far, or rather they trusted the capability of their Alphas. "Those who are on night patrol, stand guard. Things like this should not repeat itself, imagine if it was an enemy. I would really not want to be disappointed next time, that is, if there is a next time," Aiden said. "Understood Alpha!", The warriors echoed "And we also apologize Alphas, we will do our best to make sure it does not happen again!" The head warrior of the night patrol said. "For the rest of you, you can go." Bryan ordered. With everything now in order, they started walking back home, or so Kira thought. Since she was caught, that was the first time she heard their voice, and it was not even directed to her. As they started moving, Kira frowned, confused. "This isn't the path to the mansion," she said to herself, not out loud. Her heart skipped a beat as she started noticing where they were actually taking her too. Her breath quickened, goosebumps all over her body. They were heading to the dungeon, not the mansion. "No, please, not there!", Kira cried out, finally finding her voice. She twisted her body, trying to slip from his grasp as her voice trembled with fear, but his hold was so strong. Even though she kept kicking her feet, her legs flailed in a wild attempt to escape. With a low growl of irritation, Bryan shifted his grip, his hand coming down hard on her back side. The slap echoed, stinging sharply and forcing a yelp from her lips. The sudden sting on her backside made her freeze. The shock and humiliation was almost as sharp as the pain, but it was fear that took over. "Please", she whimpered, her voice breaking. "Please don't do this!" Kira couldn't let them lock her away. As they continued moving, her fear escalated. She began begging, struggling, only for his grip to become tighter. "Okay, I am sorry, I'm sorry! I won't run again, just don't take me there, please!" The words came out of her mouth in a frantic rush, so soft and almost made them give in. Almost. But they didn't slow their pace. The dungeon was dark as they went in. Kira kept begging and the closer they got, the weaker her body felt. The air around the dungeon was just sucking the fight out of her. As Aiden opened the heavy door to the dungeon, she started pleading again after a pause. "You don't have to do this," she whispered, "please… I'll do anything…"Without a word, Bryan brought her down to her feet and tossed her inside. She hit the cold, hard ground with a thud, the strong impact almost knocking the air from her lungs.Pain shot through her side as she landed on the stone floor, a sharp gasp escaping her lips. Kira's hands scrambled against the rough surface, trying to push herself up as tears stung her eyes.As panic surged through her, she scrambled to her feet immediately, wanting to escape. Kira ignored the ache in her body, and bolted towards the dungeon gate before Bryan could slam it shut."Please…", she uttered softly. But before she could reach the opening, the gate crashed shut with a thunderous clang.Due to her behavior, Bryan slammed his hand against the iron bars, his voice showing how much he was frustrated."ENOUGH!" he bellowed, the force of his voice reverberating through the walls.Kira's heart pounded in her ears, her body rigid as she stared up at him in shock. The way he yelled at her and slammed his hand
The next morning, Kira was woken up by the sound of her cell gate opening. She opened her eyes softly, trying to see who it was."Good morning, Luna", The figure bowed. "I have come to get you, by the Alphas order."Kira rubbed her eyes, getting her head in order while she stood up."Good morning", she responded softly, "Are you the one who came yesterday to give me the blankets on the Alpha's order?""Yes, Luna", the man who is also a guard answered."Thank you," she said to him."It is my pleasure, Luna."Kira went on to pick up the blankets and arrange them, but the guard stopped her."Someone will take care of it," he informed her."Ohh, okay then," she said, dropping the blankets and other stuff back on the ground. As they left the dungeon, Kira could not help but be curious."Do you know why they sent for me?", she asked the guard, still adjusting her eyes to the sunlight. The guard shook his head, "Alpha Bryan and Alpha Aiden didn't disclose any information.""Ah!… okay", she n
"Missed me already?" Ryker teased, sliding into an empty chair beside Aiden. "I'm sure you two were doing just fine without me.""Oh please", Bryan scoffed."He wishes," Aiden said to his brother.Bryan just laughed, "Agreed."Ryker chuckled, "I know you guys did, no need to pretend.""Good to have you back Ryker!", Orion said interrupting the boys' teases with a proud smile as his wife concurred."It's good to be home", Ryker smiled back.Kira, on the other hand, had no idea what was happening. Her gaze flickered to Ryker, studying him from beneath her lashes. She tried not to make it known that she was trying to figure out who he was."Who is this person?", she thought to herself. "And why do they seem so comfortable with the Alphas?""So, how did everything go?", Aiden asked but then as soon as he asked, he changed his mind about bringing up that topic, "Scratch that. We will talk about it later in the office. For now, please dig in.""You do not need to tell me twice", Ryker rubbe
Aiden briefly paced around the office, thinking of the right answer to that question, even though there wasn't one at the moment."When the right time comes, we will tell her. Telling her now might scare her off, we just need her to not hate us, and maybe then she might understand more when we tell her." "Hmm…" Ryker hummed. "I understand.""So, speaking about the curse, Did you find anything?"Bryan asked him. They had sent him on this so-called business trip to actually see if he could find answers about their curse."Sadly, nothing," he informed them, "Not a single clue or head start. It's as if this kind of curse does not exist and exists at the same time.""This is really weird", Aiden pondered. "It really is weird."They all agreed. There was no clue about the curse or where it could have come from—just nothing. They needed a head start or a clue to actually know how they were going to break it, but every time they found nothing.Even if they found something, if it was not stron
Kyra almost scoffed, but was able to hold herself back. "I- I didn't even do anyt- okay." she said softly, just accepting it."He was the one who came close to me that way, and now he is… Oh Goddess", she thought to herself."I haven't apologized for what happened between us last time. I want to use this opportunity too", Aiden brought up, remembering about the time he had choked her."I truly am sorry. I would never intentionally hurt you and I know you still hate us, but I think maybe you might consider thinking about my apology and going out with me? Just hang out, get some things and so on," he offered.Kira looked at him, not sure of how to respond, "Do I really have a choice? I'm sure you will just force me if I don't want to.""I won't love, it's your decision. If you don't want to, that's fine. I understand," he told her softly, a small smile on his face."Well, Alpha, I don't think I want to", She responded.Aiden licked his lips and got up, "It's alright, mm, I suppose I sh
Kira actually hesitated before slipping her hand into Aiden's. His grip was steady, firm and a soft warmth that spread through her fingertips. A feeling she tried to ignore, which shot through her at the touch. The sun hung high over the mansion grounds as they walked side by side, Aiden's strides confident and his hand never letting go of hers.Kira wondered why they were going out by this time of the day, but it was still cool. "Plus, it would be nice to step out", she thought to herself with a smile. When they reached the sleek black car, Aiden moved ahead, letting go of her hand to open the door. "After you," he said, his voice smooth and low, as he gestured for her to step inside. Before sliding into the seat, her fingers brushed the edge of the door as she hesitated. She glanced around, realizing that someone was not with them. It was the first time to see Aiden without Bryan or Bryan without Aiden."What about Alpha- I mean Bryan?", she asked, confused."He's at a meeting an
Aiden quickly checked for his phone, and so did Kira."Oh sorry brother. I didn't hear it ringing, and we hung out, went to our favorite ice cream spot." Aiden apologized and explained sincerely.Bryan nodded, "I see. Good for you both."His voice was different, and he seemed a bit cold even to Aiden as he turned to leave."Bryan?" Aiden called out to him, but Bryan ignored him, going upstairs."Bryan??" Aiden called again."Yes?" Bryan finally answered, stopping in his tracks but not turning."What's wrong?" Aiden asked, clearly noticing the change in his behavior."Nothing," Bryan answered and resumed going to his room. "I have some work to do."There was no way Aiden believed him, but he let him be for now. He may truly have some work to do, but he was sure it was not, nothing.Meanwhile, Kira felt somehow as she watched him leave. She also thought something was wrong, but she was not sure if she should care or not.So she just decided to call it a night. "Aiden!""Yes?" Aiden turn
Bryan groaned when another knock came in after close to an hour of Kira leaving."Can't I just work without any disturbance?", he asked himself. This time, a knock didn't come, instead the person opened the door and walked in.Bryan closed his eyes, trying to calm himself down and not get frustrated, before opening them and meeting with Aiden and Kira.He didn't think they were here for him, so he went back to work."Bryan, can we talk? You know, forget I asked. We need to talk", Aiden, more like ordered him. "Let's talk.""About what?", Bryan asked him."You!" was Aiden's response."What about me, Brother?""Can you put a hold on your work first?", Aiden asked him, also getting frustrated with his behavior. "I also have lots of work to get done, but you seem to want to drown yourself in yours."Bryan let out a frustrated breath, showed Aiden the pen in his hand, and let it go, letting the pen drop on his table. "You have my full attention." Bryan relaxed in his seat, his hands folde
As instructed, they all remained seated and waited patiently for her. No one said anything, and surprisingly, the silence wasn't empty. It didn't have any tension; it was comfortable, but still had the feel of emotions that weren't spoken. Along with that, Kira sat still, maybe not too still as she kept tapping her feet on the ground and her fingers lightly on her knee while glancing around and often stealing glances at Bryan and Aiden, who would also look at her from time to time and wink, even though they were all seated on one couch. And then, footsteps. It was soft but firm, quick yet steady in approach.Elara walked back into the room holding books and pens. She moved quietly, her face not giving away anything as she walked toward them."Tear a sheet of paper and place it on your book when given to you," she said, giving all of them instructions as she stopped in front of Orion and gave him a book and a pen. Then, she turned and walked to where Bryan, Aiden, and Kira were seated
Aiden shook his head softly at his mother and sighed, "We were not pretending to be happy. We were genuinely happy.""Yeah," Bryan and Kira murmured, concurring with what Aiden had said."That is what I don't understand," Elara said to them, the confused expression still etched on her face. "How can you be happy? This is very sad news. Extremely sad, and even I, myself, am still trying to wrap my head around the whole situation. So, how?""Mum, I understand you completely," Kira said. "I also cried, then we cuddled and then at dinner everyone was together again. Even my emotions right now are inconsistent because I don't know if I should cry, be sad, be happy or think about it, as we have been given a specific time to be together and so cuddling with them, talking and laughing at dinner helped me realize that it was better to be happy and just forget about the sad stuff for the moment. Leaving you all is already sad for me; you have no idea. But staying… even if it is my last day here
Dinner was great as always—the laughing, the conversation, the playful banter, everything. It was no surprise that manners were forgotten at the dining table, hence the talking while eating, and now everyone was relaxed and chatting as they were all done eating."Dad, Aiden and Bryan are just… they just won't stop messing with me," Kira complained to Orion, gesturing to Aiden and Bryan, who were grinning at first but immediately kept their faces serious when she complained about them."What now?" Orion asked Kira after looking over at his twins. "What are they doing this time?""Nothing," Bryan answered before Kira could. "We are literally not doing anything to her except keeping her on her toes. She can't even stay still on those toes, you know. We are simply just having fun, father.""Exactly," Aiden said and nodded in agreement. "We are not doing anything to her.""Seriously?" Kira asked them, although she hid her smile and feigned annoyance, just so Orion could side with her."So
Kira's mouth dropped open. "You—!"But before she could even finish what she was about to say, Bryan, who was already close to her, leaned down and planted a quick peck on her cheek, making her eyes widen instantly. The audacity! Then, without giving her a chance to retaliate, he moved past her and took his seat at the dining table like nothing had happened.Laughing softly and shaking his head, Aiden stepped closer to Kira and stood beside her. "Bryan, I don't even know what to say to you," he muttered, while still laughing.Meanwhile, Elara and Orion looked at each other with amused expressions before turning their attention back to Kira."Well, at least he was honest about it." Orion said to Kira while chuckling, enjoying how his son teased her. "I'll get back at you, Bryan Tyrell," Kira threatened, narrowing her eyes at Bryan and crossing her arms. "Oh, I will!"Still laughing softly, Aiden leaned in and pressed a soft peck to the side of her head. "Don't mind him," he murmured a
Kira smiled warmly and raised her hand to Aiden's cheek. She caressed his cheeks, her smile growing wider, before she leaned in and gave him a soft peck on the lips. "Let's go," she whispered, her gaze not leaving his.Aiden nodded and smiled back as he started pulling away to stand; his heart warmed from her gentle affection and soft peck.As Kira sat up and got ready to get out of bed, she glanced around, noticing that Bryan wasn't in the room. "Where's Bryan?" She asked Aiden, her brows furrowed slightly. "Did he go somewhere?"Aiden opened his mouth to respond, but before he could speak, the bathroom door opened and Bryan walked out."I'm here," Bryan said in a casual, deep voice. "Missing me already?"Kira turned, a smile creeping up her face again. "Yes. As a matter of fact, I missed you so very much," she admitted as she got up and walked toward him before he could reach the bed.She stood close, Bryan looking at her with a playful smile and a raised eyebrow. He tilted his h
Kira walked slightly ahead of her mates as they returned home together, her heart and mind full.Aiden was the first to take her hand, walking closer and slipping his hand under hers before curling his fingers around hers. His grip was gentle at first, and then he held her closer. As Kira felt his hold, she turned her head slightly, her brown eyes meeting his dark ones, and smiled softly at him before looking ahead again.Meanwhile, Bryan, watching them, walked closer. He decided to do the same as his brother and slid his fingers between Kira's, his hold warm. Kira smiled softly and turned to him, not surprised that he had followed Aiden, her eyes full of love.As they held her hands and walked back home, they didn't let go, and soon they reached the mansion. The house was quiet when they stepped inside, but they didn't stop. They walked up the stairs and entered their bedroom together, still holding hands. It was only when they reached the bed after shutting the door did they final
Leaning into Bryan, Kira took slow, uneven breaths, trying to calm herself. She knew it wasn't their fault for making such a decision, but it didn't help with how she felt inside. She was sad, exhausted and emotionally drained. She knew they would do anything for her, yet those words, "We can't ask you to wait for us," lingered, and it pained her so much. It pained her that there was nothing much she could do but leave. Staying might destroy them even more than leaving. And Kira knew that. She let out a shaky breath as Bryan rubbed her back and whispered sweet, soft words to her, her weight pressing into him as she could no longer really hold herself up. "It's okay," Bryan murmured, his chin resting lightly on the top of her head while he continued rubbing her back in slow, comforting circles. "We are here. We got you."Hearing those words from him almost made her start crying again, but she held back and nodded against his chest, whispering, "I know, and I got you too."Bryan, also
Stepping outside, Bryan leaned against the outer wall. He tilted his head back and closed his eyes, his chest heaving as he tried to calm himself and steady his breathing, but that was impossible. The ache in his heart refused to let up. He took deep breaths and exhaled shakily, his knuckles already white because of how tightly he balled his fists. After some minutes of inhaling and exhaling, he tightened and relaxed his fists, before he felt a hand on his shoulder.Bryan didn't need to check when he felt the hand on his shoulder; he just prepared himself, knowing what was coming, and he knew that whatever was coming was going to be for the best."You know what we have to do." Aiden's voice was low, controlled, and filled with the pain he didn't try to hide. He stepped closer, his hand still on Bryan's shoulder. "It will be for the best.""I know, Aiden," Bryan nodded, his throat tightening as his voice broke slightly. "I know. I just—" He stopped, closed his eyes and sucked in anot
Aiden raked a hand through his hair, the hopelessness of the situation frustrating the life out of him. "I don't understand," he said to Morane, the frustration in his tone fully on display. "There has to be another way! What do you mean, we have to stop being mates?""Look, I am not angry with you. You have done a lot for us, and we are genuinely grateful, but this…this was the last thing I expected to hear. I never even expected to ever hear such," he said as he leaned forward slightly and ran his hands over his face before gripping his hair in desperation. "This curse of a thing is just so exhausting.""I know, I understand," Morane said, raising her hands slightly. "But listen to me first. Please calm down," she said softly, fully understanding what the three of them were currently going through. "The curse can only be broken by the witch who cursed you or someone from her bloodline. Do you understand what that means? We do not even know who the witch is. Talk more about someone f
