Dixon stared at the apartment he was quite familiar with, he felt like he was back to five years ago. Hanging out in the tall tree beside her house. Where they would sit and laugh and cuddle, underneath the tree. His ran run through the tree. Feeling it. Bringing back the memories of their romance.
He smiled but a sad one.
He moved away, staring at the brown wooden door. Remembering when he had helped her moved into this house. Asking her why she choose this apartment.
She loved the serenity and nature. That was her reply then.
He had grown to love her then, at first when Linda brought her to him. He hadn’t had any interest in her then.
"Hold on. I'll be there in a sec" her tiny voice yelled, the burning sensation came running down his spine as he held her voice, he felt nervous all of a sudden and rubbed his palm together. she was with him few weeks back in prison.
She opened the door and the smile on her face fell.
"Beryl" he called. Then look down at her cloth. Her T-shirt was big and obviously a man wares which could barely cover her butt, She follow his gaze.
And froze.
"Its just a temporary stuff.."
she blurt out.
“Temporary stuff huh! Why did you visit me, why did you pretend you love me, why? That’s all I want to know.”
She tried to shut the door behind her
"When did you get .."
“You visited recently, didn’t you?”
“Dixon, it’s “
“Please Beryl. You didn’t love me did you.”
“I did, I couldn’t wait—I “
He covered his mouth with his left hand. Muffled his panting sound.
“You shouldn’t have given me hope. You should have broke up with me, right there in the prison. I loved you....You—“
"Is everything okay babe" he held the door with his hand and poke out his head. Just before she could close it.
"Roy" she whispered his name.
"Who?" He glance at Dixon then at Beryl. Dixon stared down at her fingers.
"Where's your ring?"
"What ring, what's he talking about, who are you?" He rasped, shoving Beryl aside and stepping in front her
"Am her..?" he clamped his lips shut and look over at Beryl.
" Its erm, you know, erm" she spur itching her neck.....
“There’s Nothing between us, sorry I came here. I shouldn’t have”
“Dixon”
“Am sorry” she ran back inside shutting the door. Roy gave him an unwelcome glare.
“Don’t wanna see you around here. She’s mine now. Stay away from her.”
Dixon watched him, without uttering a word. And slowly walked away....
Dixon threads his way out to the streets. It was pitched dark already and no doubt he was gonna sleep on the street, with nothing on him, just his shirt and pants from five years ago. The cloth he wore when he was taken to prison.
He picked up a few stones and began hurling them, across the street.
He was humming to the song. And his eyes were glistening with tears. The song he wrote while he was in prison. He sighed and wiping every trace of tears off.
“What’s wrong with me. I need to be strong. I need to get over this. I made a promise to Eamon I need to keep it.”
“Of course you should. Stop behaving like a chicken and stood your ground.”
“It easier said than done. I stood my ground and I was sent to prison. I stood my ground and I was disown. I stood my ground and everything I worked hard for. Fell in front of my very own eyes.
I’ve tried all I could to be accepted. No! He doesn’t want me, he doesn’t wanna accept me!”
“It’s okay. Everything has a reason you’re following destiny. This is your fate.”
Fate? That’s bullshit.. there’s isn’t anything like fate.. who are you ?A ghost? Am angel? Tell me why my fate was wretched, tell me why I had to suffer!”
He was screaming his pains out.
“You will know soon enough.”
“Where are you?”
He glanced around.
“Am right behind you.”
“Wwhat.”
Argh!” He screams, staring at the old woman.
This isn’t happening, he isn’t filming a movie or something.
What or who the hell Is she?
“Am ms Teresa. You don’t need to be scared, Am human like you.”
He slumped on the floor, breaking down In tears.
“You can rise again, Dixon, you can be the...”
“It’s never gonna happen.” Ms Teresa hunkered down beside him. The black gown she wore was long, covering her feet, she had no shoes on.
“Have faith, that’s what you said remember, this life we’re all in, we face a lot of trials. But not enough to give up. Love will come when you least expect. And everything, just every single thing will fall into place. The sun will shine on you again. Don’t give up! And don’t see any reason to. But see a reason to keep going, that’s what kept me alive till now.”
“Are you ready to come with me?”
“I don’t have a choice do I?”
“Well you do”
He scoffed and stood up. Facing Ms Teresa. He smiled and took her hand in his.
“Shall we?”
********
After running for a long time, she sat on a rock, caressing her sole feet. It has been days she has been running, running from the demon she was becoming, if it was possible, she would run forever, so she don’t end up killing everybody she came across with.
She was some where in the wood but had no idea how she got there. Neither did she know she was close to the city.
The thought of how she killed Lucas came flashing through her. How he look so innocent but she shouldn’t feel guilty for what she did.
He deserves it.
She was back to normal. To herself again. Is this how she’s gonna live. What if she hadn’t changed back.
Was this what the person talked about.
She been an half-demon and half-human.
Her skin was clothed in blood and her eyes was still having the same. Black color. Feeling there was humans close.
She growls.
"You heard that didn't you?"
"I did" the approaching security men said as they walked towards where she was, flashing their torch light.
"It was a human feet, let's go further"
"I don't think that's a good idea. Let's go back to the cabin"
“Come on, we can save a life.”
“Don’t be stupid, we could be attack by anything if we go further.”
“But...”
“Come on, let’s go back.”
he urge his colleague and they retreated.
Her body sprawled, her tanned skin was dark with her prodding vein clothing her bare self. Rising from her hideout she tail behind them. One of the security return to the cabin and the other was seated on a fallen log of wood. Before he could blink, he felt a hush of wind past through him and the next thing was, she splashed her fingers across his chest.
He cried out. Seeing his own blood. He lifted his head and she hit him with her feet, he fell on his face and she squat and began feeding from him. Drawing blood to her mouth.
The other came out of the cabin when he heard his screams, the sight he saw was beyond him.
He race back instantly picking his walkie talkie
" We're under attack over!" Before he could drop it, his feet was lifted from the ground her fingers grub into his neck.
Her hands went deeper into his neck and blood was streaming down from it. He tried fighting her hands of. And in a second, he thought she had let go of him but her hand score into his chest, making blood splash against the wall of the cabin.
"Ah!" He let out a tight gasp. She was distracted by a light pointed directly to her eyes. Another man crawled into the cabin. He smiled weakly at her. Then, he mumbled.
"Its you"
“The demon coming to destroy us. This was not supposed to happen. It’s was history. Year 1983.
How come it’s happening now.”
She dropped the other man and picked up the other man from the floor he was obviously old though his head was bald, there was a lot of wrinkles on his face. Hw wasn’t a security man. Who is he? A farmer?
She doesn’t know.
turning him upside down.
She dabbed his eyes out and hurled him towards his colleagues.
and he slumped, since he was already weakened.
A wave of dizziness swept over her, tottering her on her feet. She staggered out of the cabin getting weaker every minute.
After a small walk, she toppled over in a dead faint.
A dumpy figure came out of nowhere and watched her, she sighed sadly, this wasn’t what she wanted for her but it turned out differently, she wasn’t supposed to suffer this much.
Tears stings at her eyes, she could only do what she can for her.
She’s gonna be there for her, in the best way she can.
Hunkered beside her, covering her with a coat and drag her away from sight.
"This is it?" Dixon asked, staring at the old house. Slightly bent to the side. Like it was gonna fall anytime soon. The walls having a crinkle lines on it, making the house look like a crone. It was the least of what he was expecting. " What were you expecting" she retorted" A beggar has no choice" she scorn at him, pulling out the crispy notes from his hands. “You’re still taking this from me! It all I have left..and am not a beggar, if I am a beggar it will be a beggar with choice.”Though she was old, she wasn't anything like it." Ho-ho" she snickered at what he said."Dixon, the supposed heir.. you’re one proud animal.”
Her hands quake on the table and she shuddered in fright. Her eyes flattered on its own. When she opened them, it was black. Slowly she let out a low growl. Racing out of the kitchen.Running into the room she came out from, quickly she hid behind the bed, curling in a tight ball. She need to control herself. It felt like her body was tearing apart. She was getting larger. And larger her taste for blood was so No, no she needs to control herself. She’s not a demon, she doesn’t want to be one.She hugged herself, buried her head in between her thighs. She couldn’t control it, it was bigger and larger than she was. Slowly, crawling out from beneath the bed. Looking for the nearest exit. And that was the back door.
Albert gaze at his reflection in the mirror. His eyes were small and having some dark circles around it. Fixing his tie. He throw a glance at the bed. It was empty as it has been the past days. Linda had choose to sleep in the guest room. Ever since he sent Dixon out. She just can’t understand. Fixing his tie properly, took the briefcase on the table and began walking out of the room. “Good mm—m.....”“Is your mother up yet?”“She hasn’t been ou—out of her room sin-“ Bruce stutters in fear. The sight of Albert is something he couldn’t behold. He deadly look he gets from him every single time. The fear was still in him. He doubt if he would ever get over it.
Dixon hands over the cup of coffee to ms Teresa and slump on the seat next to her. While munching the cookies he made. Staring absentmindedly on the TV set. “Why the glum look?”“Why won’t there be a glum look.” He retorted.“Calm down Dixon, will you. Just smile a bit. You’re look threatening.” “So she could leave! My heart is as hard as stone. I might end up killing her.”Do you mean to say she might end up killing you. Cause she doesn’t look like someone who has a heart. He force a smile which turns out to be a grimace. Ms Teresa chuckles.“You should be happy, you a
Having washed up and change into something new. He checked his wrist watch. He was getting late. He hurried down stairs, still thinking of the best way to approach alien. He kind of like calling her that. Though Something she looks intimidating. And sometimes, small and innocent. What’s he gonna do to her?Nothing! Not like he could do anything. Than try understand her.As ms Teresa said.Which seems like a workload. That’s never gonna easy. She was still seated on the dining table where they had left
She was staring hard at the dress wondering what she’s gonna do with it. She had seen Anika in something like this. Looking like she was trapped and couldn’t move properly. He wants to trapped her too?So she could stay with him.Oh!That’s why he’s forcing her to wear themHours upon hours she was trying to figure out what the dress means. But she wasn’t getting it.Her eyes were still fixed on it. It was familiar. But she couldn’t seems to remember anything at all. Nothing she remember. The more she force herself the more her head hurts badly.
The look in her eyes. She meant it. She was gonna kill him.He jumped away from her.“Argh! This a nightmare! Wake up! Wake up” He Began sprinkling water on himself. He steal a glance at her. She was looking at him. Innocently. And that was what annoys him. He screamed. Getting more and more paranoid. Couldn’t think of anything else except the fact that she was gonna kill him.“Do you mean what you just said?”“What I said..” “That you’re gonna kill me. You don’t mean it do you?” She shrugged, returning his look with a puzzled one.
“Am so sorry am late.” He quickly draw out chair and sat down. Detective Sean looked up from the magazine he was reading, and scanned him, his sleeve wasn’t properly buttoned, the face cap covered a bit of his face. And was drenched with perspiration.“Went beyond time, what happened.... to you?” He mouthed an oh and began fixing his shirt properly, clean off his face with a hanky.“Something happened.”“Something happened you mean, you were so deep into her, you completely forgot about time. I understand.” He wave him off with his hands.“It’s not that.. it’s, well” What Sean was
“Cheers to a good life,” Mark said lifting his glass on the table. Everyone seated at the table lifted their glasses with a smile, Dixon's hands were intertwined with Maeve as he kept caressing them over the table. She smiled at him.“Cheers.” They clicked their glasses. And sips from it.Dixon stood up, still holding his glass.“I wanna make a toast to the ones we lost on the way, the two important persons in my life, my first go to Ms... Theresa, without her playing her major role in our lives, this won’t have happened, and to the one who was more of a brother to me...”“I still can’t believe you had another brother aside from me.”“Shut up Bruce.” Linda laughed.
Roy ran into the house. Shutting the door immediately he entered. He was panting, he had been so scared a while ago, so scared, he didn’t expect to see her like that. And everything now had been in vain. Just like that. Now, this happened. She must be dead now, she must have killed her, Anika was probably dead. There are no two ways about it because of the looks she has on her face. There’s no way anyone survives that.He raced to the bedroom and slumped on the bed. With his hands on his chest. What a narrow escape, it was still late in the night, dark and awfully quiet. Beryl stole a glance at him. And looked away, she didn’t say anything. She pretended that she was still chained to the bed. Still, glued to where he left her, she shut her eyes pretending not to notice him or do anything or say anything to him. The bastard, this was his night. She remained on spot Waiting for him to come to her."Hey babe"
When Dixon woke up, he was in the hospital, his head was bandaged, Bruce was by his side. And he felt so weak and tired.“You’re awake.”He nods.“How long have I been here?”“Twenty hours.”“what?” He tried standing up from the bed.“Hey, stop, don’t try standing.”“It’s the almost full eclipse. I need to go.”“You ain’t going anywhere.”“What’s the time?”
“Are you the only one in here?” Maeve asked as she was still glancing around.“No, I had just a help from someone you would know, here, have your seat.”Maeve sat down with her gaze on the broken chains and cracked walls, which were still stained with blood.“Who is that?”“Roy, I think you need to show yourself here. Someone needs to see you”Roy, the name was familiar, but she couldn’t sure remember who that was, while she was seated she played with her fingers.Roy came in with a plain look, he didn’t stare at her but looked over her head.&nb
A car slow down in front of her, then stopped, he stare at her through the window. “Maeve!” He called, she turned and stare at him. It was Mark. “What are you doing here?” “Taking a walk.” “Where’s Dixon?” “He isn’t here.” “He left you alone?” “I left him.” “What do you mean, get in the car, I’ll give you a room ride.” “I told you I’m taking a walk. You should leave, you didn’t see me today.” “Maeve, What’s...” The look in her eyes made him silence, he said nothing else and watched her walking away like the dead. She didn’t stare back at him or wave. Unlike the Maeve he knew. Something was wrong then. He didn’t know if he had to follow her or just go away. She left Dixon, because he would never leave her alone. He was always buy her side like glue and now he wasn’t. He searched through his contact list, if he had his contact, but the prick was being a prick, so he doesn’t have it. He didn’t have any of their contacts. Now calling them that he saw her was out of it. He had t
“Why didn’t you tell him!” Eamon yelled at Green, he keeps hitting his fist on the table, biting his lips in annoyance.“You should have told him, how do you expect him to feel when he wakes up and she’s gone. He has every right to know!”Green was pacing in front of him, with so much quilt in him.“I wanted to tell him. She won’t let me, I made a promise to her. That I wasn’t gonna tell him, she told me she was gonna tell him herself. I don’t know. I..”“Dixon will be so mad when he finds out what you’ve done. There were days you could have let it slip out but hell no! You held it in. Told no one. You allow her to bear the pains alone. She alone on that painful and lonely
Dixon stirs and turns to his sides, slowly his eyes open. It was still quite dark and he wasn’t so sure of what the time was yet. But he could guess, it was past four in the morning. He sighed and stood up. Naked. Searching for his pants. Then it hits him.Maeve! She wasn’t by his side.He walked back to the spot where they slept. She wasn’t there. He ran shortly to take up his clothes and slide them on.Where’s she?Her clothes weren’t there either.“Alien!” He yelled. His voice echoed as he shouted.
“Still ain’t gonna tell him anything.” Dr. Green said, making breakfast. He tossed the egg and flipped. Maeve was in the kitchen with him. Drinking the green tea, he had made. Her gaze was elsewhere as she kept on exhaling. While taking the tea.“You don’t seems too good.”He studied her. She was still brooding over something. Her hair was almost white now. Just a little remaining.Today was the last day to him. Since it was the second day, she had to leave Dixon side before the cock crock. And then, he sighed as well.He couldn’t find anything else other than the sacrifice of death. That was the only thing he got. And nothing else.He moved to her side
Maeve watched Dixon sleeps. Staring at his face caressing it with her fingers. He stirred and looked at her with a smile, though still sleepy.“Ain’t you asleep yet. Come lay beside me.”“Ain’t sleepy yet. I’ll join you soon though. I had to go somewhere first.”“Where to? It’s late already.”“I’ll be fine. And it would be a quick meeting.”“Humm. Don’t stay out too late, it would be too cold without you In here.” He closed his eyes again and slept off. She chuckled and brought her head down and kissed his lips.A day was gone.
