CHAPTER TWENTY TWO

"Who is it?" Luna held on to her phone tightly, and inched forward, one leg in front of the other. Her heart skipped beats, as she moved even closer than she planned to.

"Who.." She stopped talking when she saw two rats run out of the building. Her brows furrowed, as she watched them go.

She released her grip on the phone and checked if she had any message from Jess. Of course, she did.

He asked her if she was alone. She replied with a yes, her eyes darting around to confirm. After that, she sent another yes.

All she got after she sent that was a simple okay, written as "ok." She frowned at that, because she didn't know what to do after it. She couldn't go back home, and there was no way she would go into the building in the hope of seeing him there.

A sigh escaped from Luna's lips, as she glanced at the phone again, expecting a message from him. For the first time, she really did long for a message from him.
