Chapter 14
Federico faced the tall, intricate doors to his father's chamber, his expression indifferent yet his mind in a whirlwind. He was aware of what was waiting for him behind the door - his father and probably his brothers. It was impossible to avoid. Inhaling deeply, he pushed open the door and walked into the room. Predictably, Leandro and Thomas, his siblings, were already present beside their father, King Marcos. The room remained magnificent, with tall columns and walls decorated with luxurious tapestries, yet the mood was uneasy. Upon his arrival, Federico quickly spotted the annoyance visible on his brothers' faces, with their eyes narrowing in response. He couldn't care less, despite their clear resentment. King Marcos was seated in his tall chair, looking intently at Federico as he entered the room. His father appeared calm, yet there was an indiscernible heaviness in his eyes, casting a somber atmosphere over the room. "Federico," his father started, speaking with a steady voice but without any warmth. I do not want to pass the throne to you. However, custom requires that the eldest son receive the crown. Federico stood proudly, with his chin raised a bit. "I am the eldest," he answered confidently, making eye contact with his father. He disregarded the disapproving looks of his brothers while sensing their hidden anger. Leandro, always the one who spoke up more, smirked. Federico, you behave as if you believe you deserve it. Have you ever considered that the kingdom could thrive under a different ruler?" "Someone with better qualifications," Thomas said, speaking quietly yet with bitterness in his tone. Federico looked at his brothers, showing no sign of being bothered by their words. "Are you qualified?" he asked, mocking in his tone. Do you believe you are better suited for this position than me? Please, do not cause me to laugh. He turned his eyes back to their father. "I have the entitlement to inherit the throne, Father, and I’m happy you acknowledge that fact." Leandro sneered. "You are just as conceited as always. Full of arrogance and insolence, believing that everything centers around you. Federico replied firmly, stating that if you prioritized your responsibilities as much as you did your goals, you would recognize that the throne is rightfully his. However, some things cannot be learned through education. Thomas's hands tightened at his sides, his knuckles pale as he attempted to control his rage. Do you believe you are superior to us? "Is that all?" he snarled. "You've always acted this way—believing you're superior to everyone else." Federico arched an eyebrow, his face showing no signs of giving in. "I don't have to contemplate it," he said calmly. I *stand* higher than you. And it would be wise to keep that in mind." He confidently moved forward, his stance authoritative. I did not show disrespect to our father. However, it appears that you have forgotten where you belong. I am still above both of you, and I have the power to punish you immediately for your disrespect if I choose to do so. A thick silence enveloped the room. Federico's words hovered in the atmosphere like an impending storm. Leandro and Thomas shared intense glances, yet neither dared to speak once more. Federico was about to leave, content with their lack of conversation, when his father's voice halted him at the door. "Before your departure, there is a piece of information you need to be aware of," King Marcos stated, his voice a bit gentler yet determined. "Tomorrow is when your bride will arrive." Federico stopped briefly but didn't look back. "So quickly?" he whispered, more for his benefit than for anyone else's ears. "Indeed," his father added. We've deployed some members of our clan to verify her situation and make sure everything is okay. Once they verify, she will be brought to this place. Federico sneered, struggling to control his contempt. "I understand," he said in a chilly tone while still facing away from them. "You are so considerate." He exited the chamber without saying anything, with the sound of the door closing behind him reverberating in the spacious room. While walking down the corridor, his face showed no emotion, yet turmoil boiled inside him. The thought of marrying a woman he wasn't attracted to bothered him, but he was forced to do it. His father had made sure of that. However, Federico was sure that nobody, not even his father, would be able to dominate him. In the chamber, Leandro and Thomas observed their brother depart, their faces growing darker with each step he took. Leandro whispered, "He's a threat," as he looked toward their father. "You must observe that." Federico is careless, overconfident, and full of arrogance. He is not readily predictable. Who can predict his next actions? Thomas agreed with a nod, his face contorted in frustration. "He has no concern for the kingdom, Father. His sole focus is on himself and his influence. If you aren't cautious, he might revolt against you - against every one of us. "And that would not be a positive outcome" King Marcos did not respond right away. He stayed quiet, staring at the door where Federico had just left. Although his face gave no clues, his sons could tell from his body language that there was tension. At last, the king let out a sigh and massaged his temple, trying to alleviate the burden of the decision he had to make. He spoke slowly, almost as if reminding himself, that Federico was his oldest child. "Customs need to be maintained." Despite my frustration with him, he is entitled to the throne due to his birth. Leandro argued that this does not guarantee he will be a good king. Should he ever obtain complete power, he has the potential to ruin everything. "Thomas agreed with Leandro, his voice filled with tension." "Federico is not capable of leading." He is overly fixated on seeking revenge, on pursuing his vendettas. "He is not reliable." King Marcos stayed quiet, with his mind focused elsewhere as he listened to his son's words. He was aware of Federico's aspirations, his rage, and his desire for retribution—particularly regarding his mother's passing. He was aware that Federico's allegiance to the monarch, and himself, was on thin ice. However, even with all of that considered, tradition was not a factor he could easily ignore. Opposing it would involve challenging generations of royal heritage, and that was a serious choice that should not be made hastily. "I will closely monitor him," declared King Marcos in a hushed tone. At this moment, there is no alternative. He is going to get married, and then we will observe what happens next. Leandro and Thomas shared concerned looks, yet they understood it was best not to delve deeper into the topic. Their father had made up his mind, and it was pointless to challenge it at this moment. "Father, just watch out," Leandro whispered, his eyes narrowing. "Federico is someone you should not underestimate." The king agreed by nodding, but his face still showed signs of distress.Chapter 15Soft beams were cast across the walls in Azalea's room as the morning light filtered through the large windows. Lying in bed, she gazed at the ceiling, absorbed in thoughts about what lay ahead for her. The manor was suddenly filled with the reverberating sound of loud, joyous music coming from outside. She became rigid, understanding immediately the implication. Federico's bundle had been delivered.Azalea abruptly sat up, her muscles tight, and cast the blankets aside. The beat of her heart quickened in her chest, and she sensed the usual surge of anxiety starting to rise within her. Today was the long-awaited day, the one she had been anxious about for weeks. The way she lived was going to be forever altered. With hardly any time to collect her thoughts, she saw the door to her room slowly open, and two maids entered with their heads down in deference."Miss Azalea, good morning," greeted one of the maids with a soft tone, exhibiting formality in her voice.Azalea gave a
Chapter 16Federico remained in his quarters, his eyes fixed as he looked out the window, observing the sun rising higher in the sky. He had become used to the weight of his duties as the upcoming ruler, but that didn't mean he had to enjoy it. Thoughts of his impending marriage, responsibilities, and family tensions filled his mind, clouding his thoughts. The sudden rap at the door interrupted his train of thought."Enter," he invited, his voice crisp.Jones bowing, entered the room with his trusted advisor. "Your Majesty, did you ask for a status report on the princess?"Federico gave a confirming gesture, his jaw tightly closed. "Did my dad send agents to check on her?" He spoke in a curt tone, showing his annoyance with the whole situation.Jones remained still, his expression showing no emotion. "Yes, Your Majesty. The monarch dispatched a small number of reliable scouts to investigate the princess's history and her present condition. All appears to be in place for the wedding to
Chapter 17Azalea knew it was time for her to go down and face the life Mack and Ophelia had chosen for her; she regretted all her past events right from crowning Mark the alpha of the pack and not standing up for herself when Ophelia spoke to her without respect. Now as she thought about it she wished she had done something to change her fate and to change the way things were happening now but nothing could be done. Not anymore. Two maids walked into her bedroom with a smile on their faces and she rolled her eyes mentally.Azalea stood at the top of the magnificent staircase, feeling her heart race as she gazed down at the spectacle unfolding below. Ophelia and Mack were by the entrance, showing respect by bowing to Federico's pack members. Seeing the two of them together, smiling and being friendly, caused her anger to rise. Her claws' sharp edges trembled, her fingers moving involuntarily, as her inner wolf became agitated. However, she couldn't allow that to occur at this moment,
Chapter 18Azalea moved with several emotions in her mind while she trailed behind the guards and elders towards the car that was waiting, with a jumble of conflicting thoughts in her mind, the elders of the Red Moon Pack were friendly, and the guards showed respect, but none of it eased the turmoil she felt. A combination of fear, anger, and anticipation of the unfamiliar tightened in her chest.Taking her place in the back seat of the car, Mrs. Allysa, who had stayed mostly silent during their previous talks, smiled warmly at her. "Dear, you should feel honored," Mrs. Allysa started, her voice gentle with a touch of pride. Marrying the oldest prince is a wonderful honor. In the past, I was presented as a present to the monarch. It is a custom, one that enhances the connection among packs.Azalea hardly noticed her, her gaze locked onto the path ahead. She couldn't shake off the echoes of "gift" and "tradition", leaving a bitter taste in her mouth. She was not considered a present. S
Chapter 19Azalea remained seated in the car while it slowly made its way toward the imposing gates of the Red Moon Pack's domain. The scenery transformed significantly from the familiar forests of her homeland to the immense, daunting buildings that now encircled her. Looking out of the window, she was filled with thoughts about what was waiting for her. It was rumored that the lifestyle in this realm was distinct - more rigid, and severe. She pondered what part she would play in this situation, aside from being Federico's wife. Could she expect to receive respect? Is it simply viewed as yet another device for the kingdom to profit from? The carriage slowly stopped, causing Azalea's heart to race. She inhaled deeply, preparing herself for what was about to happen. One of the guards opened the door, and she emerged gracefully, attempting to conceal the anxiety that seized her.The courtyard was filled with people, including members of Federico's group and individuals who appeared to b
Chapter OneAZALEA POVThe early morning sun cast a golden glow over the training grounds. I, Azalea Primrose, the soon-to-be female Alpha of the Dynamite Pack. I knew the weight of expectations resting on my shoulders- but I also felt the gnawing doubt of my own perceived weakness. "Again." My mentor said as he watched me. "Shift Again."I closed my eyes trying hard to connect to my wolf Kina, but each time I tried to connect with her I got disconnected immediately without even doing much. I felt a wave of energy slap me and I took a few steps back. "Shit.""Azalea, the strength is not always measured by the muscles in your arm. It's measured by the fire and drive in your spirit." Roberto, my mentor said. His sharp gaze pierced through me. "You and your wolf are one, but you need to connect yourselves before you can be one. Try again."I closed my eyes trying to focus on the primal energy within me but to my dismay... Nothing happened. Being able to shift into wolf form was a crucia
Chapter TwoAfter the walk with Mack, I went to my room to freshen up. When I was done I stepped out of the palace to take fresh air that's when I saw my sister Ophelia training in the open space. Unlike me, Ophelia could easily change into her wolf and control it. Her wolf Sylvia had grey fur and brown eyes. She was beautiful, I watched how Sylvia and Ophelia became one and worked together. She had the strength I didn't, have and the courage that I lacked. Even though I was the older twin. I always looked up to her and admired her. We were twins but it's quite obvious who won the genetic lottery. Unlike me who had silky midnight black hair, green eyes, and a petite female body appearance that appeared weak. Ophelia had beautiful silly brunette hair she took from her mother, green eyes, and a strong dominant female appearance. She was also taller with 2 inches. "Hey, Ophelia!" I waved at her when I noticed she had shifted back to human. My nice greeting was returned with a scowl.
Chapter Three"Learn to stop being hard on yourself Azalea, you didn't make yourself to be this way. Why are hurting yourself with negative things?""You aren't in my shoes that's why it's easy for you to talk." I snorted. I know he was right but fuck it! It's not easy. He stopped walking and took a very deep breath. "I know challenges to Azalea, I have hard choices to make, I have things to do but sometimes I feel I'm not capable of doing them, but you know why I don't give up? Because I can't. The harder you try, the better. ""Wow!""What?""I never knew you were so smart." I joked. He held his heart with his hand and gasped. "Oh my gosh! That hurt my pride!"I laughed at his reaction."But thank you and you're right.""Of course I am, I'm always right.""Which is why you should be the Alpha." I stopped walking and faced him. His eyes looked like it was about to pop out of their sockets. "Enough jokes Azalea, come on be serious.""Do I joke around? I'm being serious Mack."He had
