Chapter Three
"Learn to stop being hard on yourself Azalea, you didn't make yourself to be this way. Why are hurting yourself with negative things?"
"You aren't in my shoes that's why it's easy for you to talk." I snorted. I know he was right but fuck it! It's not easy.
He stopped walking and took a very deep breath. "I know challenges to Azalea, I have hard choices to make, I have things to do but sometimes I feel I'm not capable of doing them, but you know why I don't give up? Because I can't. The harder you try, the better. "
"Wow!"
"What?"
"I never knew you were so smart." I joked.
He held his heart with his hand and gasped. "Oh my gosh! That hurt my pride!"
I laughed at his reaction."But thank you and you're right."
"Of course I am, I'm always right."
"Which is why you should be the Alpha." I stopped walking and faced him.
His eyes looked like it was about to pop out of their sockets. "Enough jokes Azalea, come on be serious."
"Do I joke around? I'm being serious Mack."
He had an expression on his face which I couldn't make out.
I sighed and continued talking. "I can't rule this kingdom alone and unfortunately I'm too weak to do that. But you, you are my fiancee and mate, you're also a beta. You have higher potential and strength than I do. I may be born with the Alpha blood running through my veins but I'm not fit to be one. "
"So, you want me to rule instead? I'm already by your side supporting you."
"I know and I appreciate it, but I need more and only you can do that, I'll be your submissive Luna. Together we will rule this kingdom as one."
He took a step back and sat on the floor lost in thought. "Azalea this is much to take in."
I bent down to his level placing a hand on his shoulder. "I know, but please consider this."
His eyes met mine and he smiled. "As you wish Your Highness, I'll accept it."
"Thank you, Mack, I love you."
"I love you too."
He stood up and wrapped his arms around me. "This is a very big decision Azalea."
"I know, but hey I trust you."
"Have I ever given a reason not to?" He laughed.
"Nope, not for once."

"Are you insane Azalea?!" The elders screamed at me. "That's your position! Not some play toy you can easily toss around."
The next morning, I called for an urgent meeting between me and the elders. Exactly by 10 am, they arrived as I instructed them to. After exchanging greetings I announced my plan of having Mack the Alpha and passing down my position to him.
"I understand, but I'm not fit for that role!" I defended myself
"Then make yourself fit!" Miller screamed at me. "What would your father say?"
"A lot after he should see the rubbish I'd make of a kingdom as an Alpha, I believe in myself but I know the limit of my strength which is why I need Mack in this."
"He is already by your side!" Miller screamed even louder, I feared that his vocal cords might cut.
"No! He is a perfect fit for this, believe me, my judgment is never wrong. Mack will be Alpha and I'll be his Luna. Together we will rule this kingdom."
Miller walked up to me and placed his hand on my shoulder. "Look Azalea, I understand that you care so much for your people and want the best but this isn't the right way."
I was about to object but another elder. Elder Simon spoke up. "It's not best but it's a good idea, either way, they will both rule the kingdom. If our enemies was to know that our Alpha can't shift or control her wolf state, it would be chaos for us."
I felt bad that he just downgraded me but he was right. I looked at Miller.
"I know you care about me so much, you're like a father to me, but know that I'm doing this for the betterment of us all."
He sighed in defeat and removed his hand from my shoulder. "As your wish, Your Highness. I just pray you don't regret this."
"I won't trust me."
"Okay then, we will need to discuss the rites, rituals, and preparations," Miller announced as he sat down, his face had a frown on it but he tried to sound supportive.
"Can we get this done in a week?" I asked
"Not only are you throwing away your title but you want to rush it?"
I was taken aback by Miller's comment, but I ignored it. "We don't have time to waste, we need someone who should be sitting on the throne, moreover wasn't I to be crowned next week?"
Miller pressed his lips together. "Ten days then."
"That is fine by me."
We discussed everything and finally concluded, other members seemed happy about it. I can't blame them I wouldn't want me as an Alpha either. I sighed and rested on my chair, only Miller stayed behind.
"You have ten days to make a final decision Azalea. End this madness."
Here we go again.
"I already made one."
"No you were overthinking and you just looked for the best and easiest way out. This is your duty Azalea, don't run from it."
"I'm not running from it!" I yelled. "I'm protecting it and my people."
"Azalea, you're like my own child to me, I wouldn't want to watch you go astray or hurt yourself."
"I won't watch me."
He stood up and pleaded. "Please reconsider, it's not too late to withdraw that order."
"I'm sorry, Miller but my mind has been made up. It's either you go by it or just leave it." I said and walked out on him, I felt guilty for doing so but I couldn't take it anymore.
My decision is final, Mack will be the Alpha and things will go perfectly as I planned.
Chapter FourTen days laterIt was time, everything had been done. Today, Mack was finally going to be crowned the Alpha, words couldn't explain how happy I was, a big party was thrown. The people also seemed happy, at first I feared that I may have to face an angry mob but everyone liked the idea. I felt so proud and happy. Everyone seemed to be having a nice time, everyone minus Miller. I noticed him sitting down in a corner sipping a glass of wine, I walked over to him and smiled. "Looks like someone is the Grinch." I joked but he just ignored me. I frowned. "Look Miller, I know to you this seems crazy, but it's the only way.""You could have worked harder Azalea, but no, you chose to run away. If you had put that faith you have in him in you, Dear heavens I fear the kind of courage and power you would have. I believed in you Azalea."I almost teared up while listening to him but I held it in. "You can't throw away your title just like that.""Exactly Miller, it's just a title,
Chapter FiveTwo months Later. It's been two months, two freaking fucking months! I sighed as I sat on my chair with my head hung up staring at the ceiling. Miller is dead. I couldn't help but tear up just thinking about it, he was found dead in his apartment unfortunately it was murder but no one knew who did it. We tried all possible ways to find the killer but we couldn't, no traces, just nothing. Things were just going south, in just two months my life started falling apart. Mack, on the other hand, became different immediately after he was crowned. A few days after the ceremony he changed towards me. He stopped caring, stopped sleeping in the same room with and on top of that, he still hasn't marked me or made me his Luna. Each day I've asked him countless times and he just ignored my question saying 'he is busy?'I tried hard to remain possible but I couldn't. Ever since Miller died I felt so alone and lost, I can't even confide in Ophelia. She is my twin but she is also lik
Chapter 6I felt my body go numb as if my veins were filled with ice. *Pregnant?* My sister, pregnant... carrying Mack's baby? It seemed too good to be true. Perhaps I had misunderstood. Perhaps my thoughts were deceiving me.However, I was aware of the truth deep inside. I heard it. Every word. The pain struck me with the force of a blow to the stomach, leaving me breathless. What possible reasons could have led them to do this? What could have driven *him* to do such a thing?I couldn't remain in that spot anymore. The burden of what I had heard was overwhelming. I spun around and clumsily made my way back to my room, feeling my heart beating rapidly in my chest. My mind was filled with swirling questions, each one more painful than the previous one. What is the reason? How could Mack betray me in such a way? And with Ophelia, of all individuals?I fell onto my bed and buried my face in the pillow, feeling as if the walls of my room were closing in on me. Tears clouded my sight, yet
Chapter 7 Ophelia remained in the poorly lit room, running her fingers along the boundaries of the spellbook placed on the table in front of her. She possessed a peaceful and sharp mind. She had completed the necessary tasks, but now she must guarantee that everything went as planned. There was one final move left to do—and she would require Mack's assistance to achieve it.Mack stepped into the room, feeling the noticeable tension between them following their recent discussion with Azalea. Closing the door softly, he looked at Ophelia's face searching for any emotion. However, as per usual, she was impossible to interpret."What is the reason for summoning me?" Mack inquired quietly. Since Azalea's confrontation, he had hardly gotten any sleep. He felt guilty, but he couldn't allow himself to lose focus at this moment. Not while there was so much on the line.Ophelia kept her gaze downward. "We must discuss Azalea."At the mention of her name, he became rigid. "How about her?"Ophel
Chapter EightFederico walked back and forth in his study, his keen eyes scanning the large room, which was softly lit by the flickering fireplace. He mulled over the recent news he had gotten from Mack's group - a proposal of marriage. Addressing *Azalea.*"Incredible," muttered Federico through gritted teeth, his fists tightly clenched. After years of hard work, he had built up his empire and gained the admiration and intimidation of both Lycans and wolves. Getting married was the least of his concerns, especially to a woman whose family had nothing to bring to the table besides the diminishing status of an old lineage. The large man named Gabe, his most trusted ally, entered through the creaking door. Having been by Federico's side during numerous battles and shady negotiations, Gabe understood the Prince better than anyone else."O Great One," Gabe started, speaking with a quiet and deferential tone. Mack's message was received earlier today. "They're advocating for the marriage p
Chapter Nine Azalea remained seated near the window, gazing at the moonlit forest outside of the pack house. The night was eerily silent, yet her thoughts were far from calm. Recollections of her past vibrant existence replayed continuously, teasing her. Her dreams were once filled with visions of a future where she would find a loving partner, a soulmate who would value her and see her true self, beyond the complexities of family dynamics. However, destiny had different intentions. Her life fell apart like sand slipping through her hand. She lost everything due to a single mistake, a moment of anger and arrogance. Reflecting on the time before the betrayal, she remembered a world brimming with hope. She had always been a little bit of a dreamer, eagerly waiting for her soulmate to show up soon. Azalea had frequently envisioned the instant she would make eye contact with him - her genuine match - and experience the attraction, the connection that linked them. It was the solitary comm
Chapter 10Federico walked confidently through the impressive corridors of his father's palace, with the tall columns and shiny marble floors mirroring his movements. The smell of new polish lingered in the atmosphere, blending with the subtle floral scent coming from the garden in the courtyard. But none of that was important to him. The grandeur of the palace, the symbols of monarchy and authority, seemed empty. He had visited this place so often that he was no longer impressed by it.He gritted his teeth while walking past the portraits of his predecessors, each with a stern look of power as if the burden of royalty had taken away any happiness they once had. It seemed like a caution, a hint of the consequences if he allowed his father to get his way.He was heading towards the throne room, where his father, the Lycan King, was waiting. Federico was aware of what this visit would involve. There would be no courtesies, no friendliness. Purely cold analysis and predictions, as usual.
Chapter 11Federico walked briskly through the thick forest, his mind racing, feeling frustrated like a relentless itch he couldn't relieve. He felt the cool night air on his skin, with only the distant chirping of crickets disturbing the silence. However, he quickly acknowledged that he was not by himself."Without looking, he said 'Maya,' anticipating her arrival before she even spoke. Her quiet, shadow-like movements always caught his attention.Moving ahead, she came out from behind the trees. Maya, the daughter of the king's most trusted advisor, tended to show up when Federico was most cautious. Her black hair flowed over her shoulders, and her eyes, consistently gentle when gazing at him, expressed a blend of worry and another emotion."Did you anticipate my arrival?" she inquired, her voice tinged with sadness but accompanied by a small smile. "I've never been good at being sneaky."Federico eventually shifted his gaze towards her, its intensity softening a bit as he looked at
