CHAPTER 27

Vanya's POV:

I stared right into the spaces of the ceiling, the dim light from the hallway casting cold shadows that danced eternally like restless spirits. Sleep hand long eluded me all night, my thoughts a tangled web of confusion and doubt. My mind was now a troubled storm of many uneasy questions.

The journal now laid open on my oak wooden desk, its pages yellowed with age and fragile, but the words within were anything but soothing to my eyes. I'd spent a great deal of minutes that now felt like years sifting through its cryptic sentences, every inked word seemed to mock the very essence of my sense of reasoning and belief. I could read what they spelt but telling what they meant was now something my head was yet to phantom.

Jacob King. The man I knew you were or the man you actually are?

The journal claimed to be my father's but I found that rather hard to believe. The tone, the reflection and the very meaning of what it kept didn't sound like Him. Those could never be my fathe
