Chapter Three
When Selena came out of the changing room, Michael Knowles was there leaning against the wall waiting for her.He was kind and attractive with light blonde hair and baby blue eyes, yet Selena was still wary of him. Actually she was wary of anything that looked like a man.
"Please let me drive you home" he said as he pushed off the wall.
Selena nervously tucked a lock of hair behind one ear and answered "thank you Mr Knowles....""Michael" he corrected."Thank you Michael but I would rather find my own way home" she said as she nervously toyed with the pendant on her neck.
"I can see you've let down your hair. Unfortunately just literally and not metaphorically," Michael observed, dipping both hands into his pockets.
Selena had nothing to say to that."Thanks for coming to my rescue earlier, goodnight,” Michael smiled ruefully and watched bewildered as she walked off.
At the last minute, he huffed out of breath and followed her out of the building.
"I don't bite you know. I'm not going to hurt you or anything. I promise I'm going to love and care for you, all I ask is a chance."
Selena thought that that must have been exactly what her father had told her mum when he was still wooing her.
He must have seemed nice. Maybe he had even been, but she had experienced firsthand how a man could look nice on the outside but be a terrible person on the inside.
Their neighbors thought her dad was a kind man. He was always helping to fix things. She stopped walking and turned to face him, Michael.
"I don't doubt that you love and care for me, but I'm sorry I'm just not interested Mr Knowles." He ran his hand through his hair in exasperation.
"Am I not attractive or rich enough for you?"
"It's not that."He suddenly paused. "Or are you a lesbian?"
Selena nearly burst out laughing."No I'm not. I'm just not interested in being in a relationship with anyone." "Not in this lifetime at least," she added silently in her head.
"I'm sorry" she repeated leaving him standing there and looking after her dejectedly.
Later that night as Selena lay in bed, the image of Gabriel rose unbidden in her mind. "A god has come to dine with us" was the first thought she had had when she saw him immediately followed by the confusing magnetic pull towards him.
There had been another diner that had entered the restaurant before him, whom she was first supposed to wait on, but she couldn't resist the force that led her towards Gabriel.
She had to clench her fingers at her side to keep from reaching out to run her fingers through his lustrous wavy silver grey hair.
He had a strong chiseled jawline and inviting sensuous lips. She had wanted to kiss them so bad that her mouth had suddenly become dry. She had run the tip of her tongue over her lips and had seen the answering gleam in his brilliant blue eyes fringed with sinfully long lashes the same colour as his hair.
Those eyes had locked her in place and a vague part of her mind had been shocked by her reaction. She was sure even a major earthquake would not have been able to pull them out of their trance.
Until he had gently placed his fingers on her neck. The intensity of the electric tingles she had felt along the length of her body had been shock enough to have brought her out of her trance.
But more shocking was what she had seen. A succession of images in a flash– a full blood red moon, a white magnificent large wolf and a small pool of blood.
She sat upright and rubbed at her temple trying to make sense of what she had felt and seen. There was still a silent hum of the rush of shingles she had felt earlier.
"Oh sleep my good friend why hast thou abandoned me?" Selena muttered silently. She reached for her phone and on her search engine typed in the words, visions of moon, wolf and blood.
Thirty minutes later she was exhausted and her eyes ached. No sane person believes in vampires and werewolves and witches.
They're just myths. Make-believe stories. They don't exist. Selena told herself.
Maybe she was just hallucinating or something. She had not be sleeping so well recently. It could be the cause of her hallucinations. She poured herself a tall glass of milk and ten minutes later, she was fast asleep.

Gabriel was beginning to realise that a lot could go wrong in three months when you had an inefficient beta. He blamed himself for trusting his cousin and beta, Shawn Adams, to take care of things while he was away on a business trip.At first, Shawn hadn't been his choice of a beta. The blood suckers had launched a surprise attack on the Blood Moon Pack.
The other pack members had to join the warriors in the fight. They had won but at a terrible cost. The former alpha, Gabriel's dad, lost his daughter and her mate in the fight. The former beta, Gabriel's uncle, also lost his mate in the fight.
His uncle and father had both being devastated by their losses and decided to hand over their positions to the next in line.
Gabriel had known Shawn was deeply traumatized by the death of his mother and was going to choose another, his best friend who was the Gamma's son as his beta.
But Shawn had sworn that he was emotionally stable enough and had gone on and on about legacy. In the end, Grabriel had obliged mostly because he had been tired of Shawn's whining.
He himself had been devastated by the loss of his only sibling and her mate. He felt especially sorry for the pups, his niece and nephew, that had been orphaned so young. But he guessed some people were just made of stronger stuff than others.
He was naturally a born leader and had always prepared himself for this position. His mother had worried that he was too serious as a kid.
His father had allowed him most times to sit in on meetings concerning the pack and its business. He had also learnt first-hand from his father how emotions must never be allowed to affect the decision making of a leader. His niece and nephew, Raphael who was nine and Clara who was six, were both presently looking up at him with pouts on their faces.
How in the goddess's name had he forgotten the bag that contained their stuff at the hotel he had been staying in. They had both specifically asked for comic books and chocolates.
He decided that to pacify them he was going to have take them to the mall later to get anything they wanted.
Raphael and Clara whopped excitedly when he told them about it.
Chapter FourBeans and onions are of course healthy and meant to be eaten and not carefully picked out of one's food as Gabriel was presently doing. He couldn't help it. He had hated those two since childhood."Grandma, isn't an alpha supposed to eat all kinds of food to be healthy and strong?" Clara asked as she gobbled up spoonfuls of wild rice and beans.Raphael rolled his eyes and gave his sister a look. Beatrice Adams nodded and positively glowered at both Gabriel and her husband Nicholas Adams who was also guilty of doing the same thing."Of course baby, refusing to eat healthy food won't do an alpha any good." Both father and son rolled their eyes. Beatrice was nothing if not obsessed with good nutrition. Her grandkids were allowed to have sweets only twice in a month.Beatrice's glowering should have been warning enough, but both Nicholas and Gabriel paid no heed until she gave them her famous sinister smile."Uh oh" Raphael muttered. The duo began gobbling up their food. Ric
Chapter Five Selena's eyes flew open as a mother's screams roused her from her deep slumber. The first thing she registered was the rolling blades of the ceiling fan so close to her face. She screamed in panic and landed with a thud on her bed. Her father appeared in the doorway alarmed by their screams. He gave his wife and daughter a quick glance and scanned Selena's room for any sign of a threat. "What in God's name made you two scream like that?" He questioned after confirming they were unharmed and that there was nothing scary or dangerous in the room. Her mother pointed one shaky finger at her, not saying a word. Selena herself was still trying to make sense of what had happened. She was still in shock to have been so close to death. Gerald's gaze ping-ponged between his wife and daughter. "Nancy what's going on?" He placed his hands on her arms and shook her. "She was up there. Just about to sliced by the fans blades" she managed to say amidst sobs. "You mean she was t
CHAPTER SIX Gabriel silently uttered a curse . He was supposed to keep her at arm's length until he figured out the best decision to make about their situation. The job he had in mind was going to make it difficult for him to keep from marking her. Not that his wolf minded. He could even sense him smiling. "Traitor." He watched silently as her eyes first betrayed excitement, relief then disbelief. They suddenly narrowed in suspicion. "Why are you being so kind to me? What do you want from me? He grinned wolfishly and her heart raced faster and beat harder. He had straight white teeth. His canines were longer and sharper than usual, giving off primal and dangerous vibes which only made him sexier. The heady combination of great looks and danger was exciting to most women. Selena wasn't immune. "What do you think I want Selena?" His blue eyes burned brighter as his gaze moved from her eyes to her lips to the generous swell of her breasts under her t-shirt. The heat of his gaze le
RUDE AWAKENING Selena had lain on the bed and had already begun to slowly drift off into sleep when she heard the door creak open. Slowly she opened her eyes, heart already pounding and inspite of herself nearly gave a cry of alarm when her father's image filled the doorway. He brought one finger to his lips in time and gently shut the door. Selena scrambled off the bed, her back against the wall as her father advanced on her. She knew what was coming. It had happened before. The first and last time a boy from school had walked her home. It was his own way of absolving her of her sins. She wondered how his flock could not see that their priest was evil. A religious monster was exactly what he was. He was one of the reasons she didn't believe in God. Or how could the pure and holy God watch an evil man serve him, feed the congregation communion, without striking him dead? She had waited and watched every time she attended mass for her father to suddenly drop dead, but here he was abou
SECRETSSelena groaned in pain as she sat up on the bed.She tried to gingerly feel her back with her fingers and winced when she touched a swollen bruise. She dreaded how much it was going to hurt when she took a bath. The events of the previous night came back to her, including the dream she had had. It had felt so real. As she mulled over the events of the dream, trying to decode it's hidden meaning, she heard her father's footsteps as he walked past her door.At once she was filled with dread about facing her father. She debated about staying in her room all day and concluded that it was an act of cowardice. She was almost twenty. A grown woman. She thought. She must learn to be bold and start trying to address uncomfortable situations instead of ignoring them.On the bright side, she had a new job and a seemingly nice boss who was so sexy, as attractive as hell and…. She mentally shook her head. There were far more important things to ponder on than the good looks of Gabriel Adam
ARRIVALGabriel woke up just in time to find his cousin and beta, Shawn Adams, holding up a bowl of water over his face. His eyes betrayed his intent and immediately clouded with disappointment when he discovered that Gabriel's eyes were open. They stared at each other for a full minute before Shawn burst out laughing. His best friend, the future gamma of the pack, Adrian McCall, appeared holding his cell phone. "Shit! We could have caught some action on camera. Why the hell did you wake up now?""Really? I worry about Clara's and Raphael's pranks. I never thought that I would have to add my cousin's and bestfriend's to the list."Adrian stared at him wide eyed and open mouthed."What?" Gabriel demanded."You succeeded in doing the same thing to me while I was asleep just last week. You even caught it on camera and now you…""Oh please, everyone should have their own fair share of getting pranked. Those kids are my fair share. You were much easier to hide since you were just a baby. One of our own,who was banished for unjustly killing a human, betrayed us. He joined the Alkyaries, our greatest enemies, and gave them our secrets. But he was also killed. He was foolish enough to have trusted his enemies. Trust me you'll
A FRESH STARTNo sooner had Gabriel descended the stairs than Shawn, Adrian and Mitchell burst through the door."She needs to rest," he said before any of them could say a word."We'll wait," Shawn grinned, earning him a suspicious look from Mitchell."Suit yourselves" he said and walked towards the bar."Why do you seem so eager to see another woman?" Mitchell grumbled playfully."Oops my bad. You can make me wear a blindfold." Shawn began, grinning. "Or… better still…" he continued, turning to face Gabriel. I change my mind Gabriel. I'm no longer interested in seeing your mate.Gabriel rolled his eyes and Mitchell chuckled."Fix me a drink too" Adrian called out to Gabriel."Yes my Lord." Gabriel murmured. He sat on one of the bar stools and examined the strand of fur.Mitchell suddenly gave a moan of pleasure and Adrian who had been so intent on reading a message on his phone looked up, and to his horror, Shawn and Mitchell were having a makeout session."You guys should get a roo
LOVE HER NOTSelena gave him a dubious look. "Really?""Yeah. I didn't…. " He suddenly frowned."Where exactly did you find the rose?""In my bathroom." She answered somewhat confused."If you didn't drop it there, who did?" She wondered.Gabriel's jaw tightened and his eyes hardened."What?" She asked."I think I know who did it." He answered through gritted teeth."Are you going to tell me who it is?""No. I have to be very sure.""Alright. If you say so."They both fell silent and Selena thought of what to say next."Aren't you hungry? I made lunch."He ran his eyes along the length of her."I'm so damn hungry." He murmured. His brilliant blue eyes blazing.Selena swallowed as she felt the heat of his gaze. She tugged at the hem of her shirt."Do you want me to bring the food to your room or would you prefer to eat downstairs?" She asked slightly breathless."Honey, I can eat anywhere. Anytime." He answered.Selena felt the heat rise to her cheeks."You have to be more specific." Sh
THE PARENTS"Selena," Gabriel whispered.Selena found herself relaxing against him and had to bite back a moan.He bent his head and his lips brushed the side of her neck. "You have no idea how good you smell."She felt her knees buckle as Gabriel grazed her neck with his canines. He spun her around to face him.She let out a gasp as she gazed into his bright silver eyes."You're mine." He whispered into her ear. "Say it."He took her earlobe between his teeth and tugged gently.Selena moaned and her hold tightened on his arms."Say it Selena." He urged and sucked gently on her neck."I'm yours Gabriel," she moaned. "I'm all yours."Gabriel growled in satisfaction. She shivered as she felt his stubble graze the side of her face. His mouth was just a whisper away from hers. Her eyes fell closed in anticipation.Selena's stomach dropped in disappointment as she felt his chaste kiss on her forehead. She slowly opened her eyes. He was looking at her intently with his brilliant blues."Thi
THE NECKLACE OF TRANSITIONAsides their super strength, super speed and fast healing ability, werewolves are also known for their super hearing. But no matter how much Gabriel tried, he couldn't hear the conversation between his mate and Esmeralda.Even when he silently walked to the door of the room they were conversing in despite his parents disapproving stares. He looked at his parents in frustration. "Why can't I hear them?""The witch…" Nicholas said by way of explanation.Beatrice rolled her eyes. "Remember she said she wanted a private conversation." Beatrice reminded with emphasis on the word 'private'Gabriel paced the living room restlessly, occasionally returning the cat's evil stare. He was already considering going to pound on the door, when Esmeralda and Selena walked into the living room. His eyes ran through the length of Selena as though he was trying to confirm if the witch had done something to her."I'll take you to the siren's sea." Esmeralda announced."You want
"So what happened next?" Selena asked impatiently.Beatrice had paused, returning her full attention to the road.Nicholas and Gabriel had allowed her to be the one behind the wheel only because she was the only one who knew exactly where they were headed. They both also understood that Beatrice was particular about being so proper. She preached the full attention of the driver during the drive. No distractions whatsoever. This included no talking except when necessary. She only indulged Selena because she pitied the situation of her late friends' daughter."The Alkyaries had been so intent on ending our lives that they hadn't noticed the approach of the two fairies, Celeste and Abel— your parents." Beatrice continued."They worked their magic and voila! we were delivered."Goddess! They had looked so scary doing their thing that I thought they were like a higher level of predators who had come to destroy the competition in order to claim their prey." Beatrice chuckled."When we becam
MYSTERYChapter 12"Come with me" Gabriel ordered when he breezed back into Selena's room."Give me a minute" she said and rushed to the bathroom to hurriedly don a bathrobe."Where are we going?" She asked."My study""Why does your study seem so far away from civilization?"Selena was forced to ask because they had passed two long dark passages already."Don't blame me. I merely inherited it from my father.""I need to meet him""You definitely will"At last they were at the study.Gabriel swiped open the impressive door made out of sturdy oak with a key card and Selena cocked an eyebrow."Really? Restricted access? What did your father stash in here?"Gabriel gave her a look. "Some people are just so particular about their privacy"Selena's mouth hung open as her eyes took in the shelves of books. So many books.A whole computer system stood in one corner of the spacious room. From the high ceiling hung an ornate, elegant chandelier. The finely carved chair and table were also made
