My thoughts keep returning to Rory even as I sit here with Lucas, watching reruns of Peppa Pig at seven in the morning. I woke up three times during the previous night to check my phone, but there was no communication. It scares me that I might have to be the one to give in."I am sorry about what happened last night." I text. When it shows as read, it takes me by surprise. After that, I am irritated when he does not answer for more than half an hour."Me too. Are we still planning on getting together tonight?"I give some thought to keeping him waiting, but the truth is that I'm trying to avoid these kinds of games and all the drama that isn't necessary. So I immediately responded to his text with, "Yes, 7 pm?""Until then, x," you said. The tone of a text message can be easily misunderstood. I prefer the traditional method of calling someone; you can learn much more from their voice than from a text message.I'm looking forward to the date tonight, but at the same time, I can't help
He made reservations for us at an incredible tapas restaurant, and I ate some of the very best foods I have ever had in my life there. I don't understand how he has only been living in this city for a few weeks, but he already knows where the best place to eat is. The first bar we go to is one that I am also unfamiliar with, but it turns out to be a superb pick with an amazing variety of drinks and an atmosphere to match. As we finish our fifth or possibly sixth round of drinks, I chuckle and say, "You're more Manc than me."He chuckles and says, "Trip Advisor." The cocktails seem to have had a calming effect on him, and we have scarcely talked about the argument we had the night before because I don't want to bring it up now that we are getting along so well. He seems to be in a better mood. After a few drinks, though, what I intend to say and what comes out of my mouth are two different things. As I lean into him, the warmth of his body provides a reassuring feeling against my bare
My lips hurt when I wake up, and I have the impression that they have gotten significantly larger due to all the kissing that took place the night before. I can't think of another time when a kiss from another person had such an effect on me.As his eyes slowly began to open, he greeted her with, "Hey there, sexy."He gets a grin from me. I am overjoyed and appreciative to be with him at this very moment. Because of what he shared with me the night before, I understood that we had progressed and that I now know him better."I love you," I say. I have the need to turn away, but at the same time, I want to watch how he reacts. His grin broadens, and he beckons for me to join him. While kissing the top of my head, he murmurs, "I love you too." He continues by saying, "But you already knew that."Where do you see us going from here? Since he has been back in my life for only a week, all the feelings I had the first time suddenly surfaced. This is not to say that they ever truly disappeare
Two days have passed, and Rory has not communicated with me in any way; although I have found some composure, I will not initiate contact with him.As we prepare for lunch, Kerry yells, "Come on, Darcy!" at me. "Cheer up. I'm sure he will come back. He's like a boomerang, that guy. Just when you think he's gone, he resurfaces," the speaker said to the person. "He's like a boomerang, that guy.""Oh, is this the new fella in your life?" Liam asks. When we need assistance with the evaluations, or in this week's case, when we need his assistance with particular regulations and procedures, we call on Liam, the local vet that we work with."Not my new fella, but a fella," I say in response. "Are you joining us? ”Liam laughs as he stands up and puts his coat on before responding to the question, "I thought you would never ask."We all get ready to leave, and because we have some spare time, we decide to eat at the neighborhood pub and have a real lunch for a change."Come on, guys, what ca
My strategy was successful; Rory couldn't get enough of me the following week. He texted me daily to see how I was doing and even visited me for tea one evening. It was a bit bothersome that he appeared content to just sit there and watch a movie. This was not what I had in mind for my strategy to accomplish, as I already had a sufficient number of pals. When I see Liam at the office, I fill him in on everything that happened, and we come to the conclusion that the next time Rory is in the area, Liam should force his way in, hijack our evening, and flirt with me to drive Rory into a fit of jealous rage.On Wednesday, Rory asked if I would like to grab a takeaway, and he indicated that he would be around at approximately eight o'clock in the evening. Because Liam has no obligations, we have deliberated his arrival to coincide with ours. I know this is childish, but I don't see how else to put it. I don't want to be parted from Rory, and I hope that in the years to come when we are both
Rory has been somewhat quiet recently, but he did ask me to his place whenever I have a free Friday night with Lucas. Sincdidn'ton't have someone to help me around the house, I gladly accepted his offer to prepare my tea. I knocked on the door at almost 7 o'clock; he told me to get to him by half past six, so I thought I would keep him on his toes (I had actually arrived at this location at 6:20 o'clock but didn't want to appear too eager to arrive early, so I sat in the car; here I am now, rocking up fashionably late). The nerve of him to say something like that! "You're late."I snarl, "At least I showed," and walk away. He gives me a friendly smile and a peck on the cheek before rushing off to the kitchen. After that, I open the bottle of wine that I brought along because whatever he is preparing smells incredible."Are those glasses in your possession?" As I look over the bottle of wine in my palm, I pose the question. I open the cabinet behind him, move toward it, take out two gl
I have spent all week on edge, as I typically do. A peaceful evening at home is the last thing I need right now, so I've decided to accompany Kerry and Ben to the movie theater tonight instead. We are going to see a movie that they both choose, which likely means there will be a lot of aggressive and violent scenes. This is probably just what I need, as it was mushy romance movies that got me into this issue in the first place. As I approach Ben in the Costa Coffee shop inside the movie theater, Ben yells, "Hey, I got you a ticket!""Please accept my thanks, and where is Kerry?" I ask.Ben's response is that she is "on her way." He glances at the watch on his wrist. But she's going to make it just in the nick of time. She makes it in just in time for the movie, and as we step inside to claim our seats, the rest of us grab some food from the crowded concession stand. As was to be expected, the movie has gore and firearms; nevertheless, there are a few dashing service members, so it's n
Since it had been almost a week since I had last heard from Rory, I was beginning to feel concerned; in fact, I had even contemplated asking Kerry to get in touch with farmer John to find out how things stood. It seemed as though Rory's phone was turned off because none of his calls picked up, and all of my messages were delivered to his voicemail, even when I called from a different number (just in case I was blocked). Before taking drastic measures like getting Jen checked out by a professional, I thought I'd look at his Facebook profile. When the first post I see is about her and him, I'm delighted I checked the thread. Yes, it's possible that her family intimidated him, but from what I could see, they didn't actually put a pistol to his head when they took the image I was looking at. It was him riding a horse while she was in front of him, their bodies pressed against one other, making me feel physically ill. My hero is what the caption underneath it says. If that doesn't give aw
