CHAPTER SEVEN

Her husband stares at her in confusion and he laughs and says . “ Wow! my wife now jokes now, well anyways I will take that as a good morning, we’ve got to get ready for our honeymoon” he says and toss the duvet away from his body and gets out of the bed and he walks towards the bathroom.

“ honeymoon? What honeymoon and did I got married you? Her husband turns around and stares at his wife.

“ What kind of prank is this today? He asks her. “ That joke isn’t funny” he says smiling.

“ And who says I am joking? You kidnapped me and wait we …… you took advantage of my situation right? How did I even get to you? She says and her husband stood staring at her with his hand folded across his chest.

“ When you are done with your jokes let me know” he says staring at her.

“ Does this sound like some joke you? She asks and she quickly gets out of the bed dressed up and she began to murmur to herself.

“ How did I get here, I am sure I didn’t go to the bar last night, how I ended up in his bed , I don’t know” she mumbled to herself and at this point her husband began to suspect something was wrong and he walked closer to her and stood in front of her as she sees that she was naked and she quickly pulls up the duvet to cover herself and she wraps it around herself and stood up and she looks around and she spotted a walk in closet and she strode towards the place. “I need to be at the airport , there must be a woman’s dress there and she goes to the closet and she found lots of ladies clothes and she picks one and quickly wears it in a haste and she picks some shoe from the shoe rack and wears it.

“ Sorry, I had to wear one of those clothes” she says. “ When I get to United state of America and start working I will send back your money” she says while her husband stood confused and she strode towards the door.

“ Evelyn! Are you okay? I mean you are being strange this morning, sort of weird” he asks.

“ Evelyn? Who is Evelyn, I am Marylin and I am suppose to be in my dream country United States of America not some Godforsaken country” she says and she places her hand on the door knob to pull it down to open the door and she sees the wedding dress where it was in front of the mirror and she removes her on the knob staring at the wedding dress and she walks towards where the dress was and she took it from the floor and she pulls up the dress staring at it and she remembers she bought the wedding dress and got married to the same man that was standing and just staring at her.

She puts the wedding dress to her neck and she remembers she was at the Airport with the securities leading her out the Airport and next she took went to a house to pick an ATM card to buy a wedding dress and she sits and looks into her husband’s eyes while he stares at her in surprise and she remember she and Manuel exchanges ring and she lifts her finger up and looks at her finger and she looks at her husband’s finger.

“ I don’t even know you” she says. “ How did we meet? I mean It’s kind of surprising to wake up and find myself here” she says.

“ You know you are being weird right now and you are already scaring the shit out of me, if all of this is a joke please stop it and we need to get ready for our honeymoon, the jet will be ready in few hours time” Manuel says.

“ I am also being serious because I do not know how everything happen, I have never met you before in my life “ she says and drops the wedding dress on the floor. “ I was suppose to be in United States of America, do you know how long I have been trying the visa to that country and I finally got one to be there since yesterday only for me to wake up again in this country” she says.

“ You know what I was going to brush my teeth, take my bath but right now, you are causing a lot of heat to flow over me right now, I need to cool my brain somewhere because I am getting confuse” he says and he goes to into his walk I closet and he picks a casual pant and top and walks out of the room while Evelyn flashes back to herself waking up very early in the morning in her two bedroom flat that she shares with her grandma and her siblings.

“ Marylyn you better bathe quickly so that you don’t get late for your flight” her grandma says.

“ Yes ma, I am almost done with bathing” she replies from the bathroom.

Her grandma peeped into their small kitchen where Marylyn younger sister was cooking.

“ You don’t have to fry everything now, just dish the potatoes you have fried and help her put some salad beside it, I don’t want her loosing her flight, this is one opportunity that comes in a lifetime” she says to the 17 years old girl who was cooking in the kitchen.

“ Yes grandma” she replies and she quickly picks a plate and she dish Marylyn’s food while Marylyn picks a trouser and an off shoulder top that she had hung in her wardrobe since last night and she quickly wears it and she turns around staring at herself in the standing mirror and she looks down at her shape in the mirror and she says to herself. “ Figure eight” and she laughs and she goes to her box , place it on the bed and opens it and she has some few clothes in it already and she slides her hand into one side of the box and she brings out her passport with her ticket that was in the middle of the international passport, she opens it and smiles.

“ America here I come” she says to herself and she walks to the sitting room and she goes to sit at the dining and her grandma comes to sit besides her.

“ dear, do not forget us” her grandma says while she quickly swallow and the potato she was chewing in her mouth.

“ Ofcourse I cannot forget you and my siblings, grandma as soon as I reach there I will go and search for a job so that I can start sending some money to you for my siblings” she says and her grandma embrace.
