CHAPTER 5

I turned around and I saw his father glaring at us.

I watched Matthew's father rush towards us.

"Rhea, hide on my back, I am the only one who can confront my dad!"

I hide on his back and he bravely confronted his father.

"How did you find us?" he asked his father.

"Do you really think I'm stupid not to trace your location? I know that you were sneaking into this place these past few days and that alone is enough for me to effortlessly find you!"

All Matthew can do is let out a frustrated sigh.

"What do you think you are doing, Matthew?" Lorenzo said with a deep and serious voice.

"Please, I cannot simply let go of my fated mate. She is my childhood sweetheart and I wanted to be with her for the rest of my life!"

"Let her go! I cannot afford a cursed Omega to tarnish the reputation of our family!"

"You don't have any right to tell me what to do," Matthew exclaimed. "Haven't you heard what the Moon Goddess said? She is my fated mate and it won't change! If you separate us, it would be against the Moon Goddess' decision!"

"Don't be so ridiculous! Don't you see? She's nothing but a curse wolf so don't let her fool you! She will ruin our lives!"

"I told you, she is not like that!" he tightened his grip on me. "She might be receiving backlash and mockery from other people but I don't give a damn about their shallow opinions!"

Alpha Lorenzo wiped the dust on his coat. "Don't make me repeat myself, my only favorite son! I did not send you to school just so you can marry a cursed Omega! I am the most powerful Alpha in the pack and I'll do everything to protect our family from the pests like the one hiding in your back!"

I wanted to cry but I don't want Matthew to think that I am losing my faith in him.

"Dad please... give her a chance to prove herself worthy to become my mate!"

Alpha Lorenzo glanced at me, "Hey cursed Omega! What did you do to make my son disobey his father? This is the very first time he rebels against me! From what I can remember earlier, he adamantly rejected you in front of everyone. But the wind has changed its direction and I seriously don't like it!"

I was terrified by the way Lorenzo looked at me with his sharp golden eyes. I trembled in fear because of extreme nervousness. I decided not to reply.

"If you are not going to say anything, you'd better watch how I punish my son for being disobedient!"

Another black car arrived and five men in white suits approached us.

Matthew shifted his gaze at me, "Whatever happens, we are on this together! I am not going anywhere and I swear that you and I are still together till the bitter end!"

Tears kept pouring down my cheek and all I could do is for a miracle to happen.

"My father can't make me leave you. I will disobey him because I need to fight for our love!"

He kissed my forehead with his sweet crimson lips.

"I don't want you to be punished by your father so please just obey him!" I said, still crying because I know any minute, they will take away Matthew from me.

He gave me a warm hug that makes me feel how much he cares for me. Our hug was interrupted when the bodyguards started pulling him away from me. I slipped from his hug and watch the men drag him towards his dad. This time, I feel that my heart is now being taken away from me as well.

"I begged you, Sir! Don't hurt your son...!"

Alpha Lorenzo looked at me as if I were an imbecile. "And who do you think you are to dictate to me WHAT TO DO WITH MY DAMN DISOBEDIENT SON?"

I could really feel the anger with the way he shouted at me. When they brought Matthew in front of his father, he spoke again.

"I want you to reject her for the sake of me and our family!"

I heard Matthew chuckle as if he was not afraid of what his father is going to do to him.

"Sorry Father, I owed you my life and everything that I have but I cannot grant your request of rejecting my fated mate! She's the best thing that ever happened in my life!"

"You dared to speak to me like that?" Alpha Lorenzo clenched his fist and throw a punch on Mathew's face.

I approached Matthew but one of the men blocked my path and gave me a scornful look.

"Now, you need to watch how your knight in shining armor gets beaten by his own cold-blooded father!"

He held me in his hand and I cannot break free. He has an unimaginable amount of strength.

"I'm going to repeat it once again, you should say to that cursed wolf that you are rejecting her as her fated mate!"

Matthew turned his gaze at me and I saw that his mouth was bleeding.

"Even if I say I am rejecting her, she knows that it's the opposite of what I really wanted to happen so what is the point of forcing me to speak against my will?"

"Because that's what I want her to hear before you parted ways. And I'll make sure that she won't see your face ever again!"

Despite his father's warnings, Matthew uttered no words and accepts beatings without screaming. I could not stomach seeing his father taking pleasure in beating his own son.

"How long are you planning to resist me? Do you think I will show pity on you just because you are my son?"

"Please stop!" Matthew said, then he slowly dragged his feet towards me while tears ran down his face. The words coming from his mouth crumbled my world.
