"Oh yes, over my dead body." Alpha Darek shouted.
"It was our ancestor's land; you had no right to claim it." Alpha Diaz shouted from the other side.
From last one hour these two crazy alphas were fighting for a stupid piece of land. The same piece for which their ancestors fought for and eventually died and now looking at the present scenario, I could bet they would meet the same end.
Dumeny was still absent, which was an issue because he was the one who summoned the meeting on the first hand.
Every year, all the seven alphas across the world united under the same roof to resolve conflicts; to preserve harmony and peace. But looking at these two, peace seems to be a short word. The other two alphas were unable to attend this meeting so they sent their betas.
"You arrogant bastard, you thought you could win against me?" Darek said in pride. "you would hardly last one minute."
"Are you calling for a war?" Diaz said showing his canines.
The atmosphere was already thick with tension. None of us three dared to interfere between these two. Nobody wanted any additional trouble. I was new and the remaining betas neither had balls nor courage to stop them. Both the alphas stood on their places.
"YOU..."
That's when the door wide opened and Dumeny entered along with the only person I hated most. The tyrant alpha, my mate, Alpha Reed Xander.
All the people present in the room suddenly tensed, as if they hated the mere existence of him, like me. His eyes quickly scanned the room and stopped at mine. He smirked when the realization dawned upon him about my identity.
"Sorry for the delay friends, let's get the meeting started." Dumeny said hurriedly and start walking towards his seat.
All of us sat on their respective positions, leaving only one chair at the farthest corner of the room. Reed went for it without breaking the eye-contact with me. His every moves cries for attention. Something about him was so dangerous, so carnal yet, so indulging.
Nobody looked at his direction. He sat on the last chair and crossed his one leg over the another. The air suddenly changed. Even Diaz and Darek were sitting quietly which seems to be impossible five minutes ago.
"Thank you every one to come at the very short notice." Dumeny said nodding towards Reed.
"No offense, Dumeny but what he is doing here?" Derek said pointing towards Reed.
"Derek for what I am going to tell you, I am pretty sure you'll understand why we needed the presence of all the alphas."
"But..."
"Just shut up Derek." Dumeny cut his statement. I looked at their exchange, it must be important if Dumeny wanted Reed's help. From the little knowledge I have gained, Reed doesn't do meeting.
Reed smirked but neither he nor I break the eye-contact for a second. After all these years, I couldn't make myself to forget him for a second and now watching him in flesh all the emotions stirred inside me I thought I had buried so deep. Anger on his audacity to still smirking in my direction. Relief, to see his face after a long time.
He looked more handsome from the last time I saw him. His ocean blue eyes captivated me and for a moment I forget I was in the meeting. I straighten myself and shake my head.
This isn't the time to check out my ex-mate.
I turned my attention towards the meeting. Dumeny was already looking at me.
"All of you already know when we stood as the alpha, we had to undergo some ceremonies and rituals, one of which was blood ceremonies." All nodded in unison.
Blood ceremony was very crucial, it binds us to every member of the pack. Blood ceremony ties everything, not only their thoughts but their loyalty and dedication.
"But very few of us knew it isn't enough," Dumeny continued. "By binding the blood of every member of your pack, you are not only gaining their loyalty but their strength and vigor. It is like a constant power source for us. You probably thought that it was a tradition, but it's still far away from the truth. Dumeny completed the last sentence and took out the knife out of his pocket.
"The pack worked in hierarchy. Without the alphas the pack fall. And with the greater threat like vampires and witches, we were once come to the brink of extinction. So, years back our ancestors did a ritual making us, the alpha blood lines merely immortal." With that Dumeny shoved the knife straight to his heart.
I gasped and sprinted towards Dumeny only to saw his wound healing surprisingly with the immense speed. Within seconds his wound healed and stopped bleeding. I looked back at the other alphas only to catch them looking at me amusingly. I duped my head low and sat back at my place.
"Thank you Esma." Dumeny winked at me and I lowered my head more in embarrassment. Dumeny cleared his throat. "The alphas couldn't die, not until they stepped down from their title."
We are immortals? If my father was not in coma, he would have told me about this. And suddenly this all started making sense. This was the very reason why alphas were hungry for land. It was their natural instinct to be more powerful. More land means more power.
"But you are forgetting something." Diaz said in dark tone. "There was a weapon that is so powerful which could kill anybody, even the alpha."
By listening to these people, I wonder how much I had to learn. But still they were more than twice of my age at the same time.
"Yes, last time it was used ten years ago." Dumeny agreed with Diaz. Everyone looked towards Reed. He clenched his jaw. He looked lost in thoughts as if replaying a memory over and over in his mind.
"Now Mr. Xander would tell you more about it."
Reed stood on his seat. He eyed everyone. "That weapon was a blade forged in the fire by elves, made from the tooth of the last shape shifting dragon." He said without missing the beat. "But as you know the magic comes with the cost. So, it requires a great sacrifice to activate the power of the blade. I am suggesting whoever got that blade had a high grudge towards any of us."
Everyone looked deep in thoughts. At this moment saying that I was overwhelmed by so much information would be an understatement. Immortality? Blade? Sacrifice? Killing the alphas? But the top of that the question which catch my attention was how did Reed knew so much about it? As if reading my thoughts, I found Reed already looking at me.
"The meeting is adjourned for now. Meet you at the dinner tonight." With that all the alphas leave the meeting room. Dumeny signaled me to wait.
The room was soon cleared leaving only two of us. We hugged and then only I remember how much I missed him. He was my best friend and my keeper just like I was his.
"Thank you for saving me." Dumeny said repressing the smile.
"Actually, I was trying to finish the job." And with that we both started laughing.
"You had not found your mate yet?" Dumeny asked still laughing. I thought about Reed.
"No. you?"
"Same."
"I know you had so many questions. Shoot." Dumeny said. That's why I love Dumeny, he could read me so well.
"Why all the alphas hated Reed so much?" I asked out of curiosity. From the first day, his name is said with so much hatred and loath.
"Well, firstly he is not an alpha, he is an outcast. And secondly, he is the man who started this mess." Dumeny said tiredly. After gauging my expression, he continues further.
"He was the first and the only one to used that blade." He killed the alpha in cold-blood and slaughtered his whole family. He sealed the borders, for first three years, nobody from the outside get to know what was happening there. Even now, no outsider is allowed to enter his territory. Dumeny said as if stating the facts.
I nodded and decided not to indulge further. Reed was a mystery and goddess know how much I hated mysteries. Why did Reed kill his alpha? If he killed him, how come he became an alpha? Only one who was from the alpha blood line could become the alpha. If considering he used that blade, what sacrifice did he make? So many questions. after saying goodbye to Dumeny I went to my room and locked it behind me.
I showered and pick out a red dress for the dinner tonight. I had three hours before I would start dressing for dinner so, I decided to research about Reed but after one hour of browsing and continuously going through the same three old adjectives I already knew, I decided to sleep before setting the alarm.
I closed my eyes only to saw his face and hear the words ringing in my mind. Heartless. Tyrant. Outcast.
Phew... This is the longest chapter I have written so far. I can only say Devil is in the details baby;)

It took me almost an hour before I changed from my work attire and wore one of my dresses I had gotten and did my party makeup. Once I was done, I stood motionless, glaring at my own reflection and feeling a little disheartened. Knowing Dumeny, I was already prepared for something fancy. He never hosts just dinners. Dinner was just for the sake of name for him.Dumeny came behind me and stood silently looking at my reflection. "You look great.""Thanks," I whispered back, the undazzled look still not leaving my face."What's wrong." Dumeny asked, voice lased with concern.I shake my head; I don't want to spoil his mood. I couldn't talk to him about Reed. God knows what he would do then."Nothing." I faked smile and hold his hand. "let's go to the dinner." I said quickly changing the topic and crossed my hand with his. We walked through the stairs of the hall only to entered in the hotel's dining room."You booked it already?" I asked grinnin
Reed's pov"Refill it and leave the bottle." I ordered the waitress. She silently nodded and sprinted back to the counter. I gulped the first glass like it was water and refill the glass quickly. Today was one of the longest day of my life.I hated that Asher ditched me at the last second otherwise I won't be here at the first place tolerating the presence of these scumbags. I doubted if Asher's presence would make any difference now. After all, she was here.As if in queue, she walked through the stairs, walking in her own glory. Her red dress was not helping either. Her hazel brown eyes were the first thing that always caught my attention. So vibrant, fierce but still laced with innocence. Her deep brown hairs were longer than I last remember. My hands ached to play with her hairs' curls.I shake my head. I was acting like some love sick teenager. I decided to leave the room before I would do something I regret.I w
“Are you sure you are alright?” Dumeny asked for the fiftieth time.I nodded. And with that he started pacing around the room again.“Why were they after her?” Diaz asked the most obvious question everyone were thinking about right now.“Hell, she is the alpha, and the top of that she is a female, making her the easy target.” Darek said lamely as if stating the facts. Was I really an easy target?“I guess we should deliver her…” before Darek would have completed that sentence, Dumeny backed him to the wall by his neck.“Say the word and that would be your last sentence before death.” Dumeny said, baring his canines, showing his wolf on the surface. Darek was fighting to loose himself from his hold, his face turning blue with every second.“Dumeny stop it. I don’t want anybody fighting for me.”Surely not after when the witches al
Reed was gone as soon I completed the whole story covering every single detail from the hooded lady, the veiny guard and a head of beta Casper of Dumeny's pack. I gulped the water to ease the functioning of my brain, it was already past midnight and I doubted anybody wanted to sleep.Dumeny was sitting beside me. After his incident with Diaz, he had his guards up, any movement and he will be changed into his wolf. Reed returned sooner than I anticipated. He threw two bags on the table. I easily recognized one because it was mine. He quickly placed some papers, zipped it close and turned towards me.“You are going with me.” He said as a matter of factly. Before I would say something Darek interrupted. “Then what? They want her blood; they wouldn’t stop until we hand over her to them, they had the blade of Zydus.” Dumeny looked at Darek as if he was out of his mind.“Have you heard yourself? They wanted us to turn back on each o
I opened my eyes only to greeted by the sunlight peeking through the window. I blinked twice before I realized it was not my bed, and yesterday’s events flashed in my mind. The witches, blade, Oracle. I shake my head and hoped it was just some sick dream. But my conscience already knew the answer.I pulled myself from the bed and stand near the window. The sun was peeking from the clouds painting the whole sky gold. Last night I slept like baby. I don’t recall the last time I have such a peaceful sleep. I felt refreshed.I freshen up and called August to check on pack, I had already lied about the postponement of the meeting but I am not quite sure how he will react when he know that I am at Reed’s house, but now I don’t want to think about that. I quickly changed in black shots and put my hairs in a bun. I haven’t eaten anything since last night and my stomach growled in agreement. The castle was huge. It was not like the nor
It’s been one week since I have arrived here. Since I last seen him. Living away from him was never been an easy task but the fact that now we were living under the same roof and on the same floor was worse. I have rejected him but can still feel the mate bond. Diana told me it was because the rejection has to be from both sides and Reed never rejected me. He simply accepted it and flied.I know the bastard did it on purpose. Diana on the other hand had more respectful approach, she told he saved me from the pain of being rejected which I hardly doubt was his slightest intention. The pain of the rejection was much worse than the pain of my first transformation. And now living under the same roof, knowing your mate would probably in the next room was nothing more than torture. Reed kept distance from me from the first minute I entered the castle. He would leave early in the morning before I would be awake and come late at nights. He would send Asher to chec
“Diana?” I shouted the name of the only person I wanted to meet. I was tired and excited at the same time; I want to spill every single detail of our journey to Diana. Reed and I had made some progress, unlike other times, we talked like properly talked and he not ignored me.Reed had to check on the borders so he left me on the main gate. On the top of that he bid me goodbye. I was grinning like a mad teenage girl, who had first time talked to her crush.“Diana?” I asked checking each room. The lights were off, the servants were probably gone by now. After looking through each room I opened my bed room. A white note was placed at the middle of the bed. I sat on the bed lazily and opened the note. I know who wrote the letter.Dear Esma,It seems that the work for which I had gone would probably take some time and I doubted you had to live without me for few days. I hope Reed will not give you hard time (b
Reed’s pov“Yes, Asher I am on my way.” I hung up the phone and drive fast to the outskirts of the city. He had called me hundredth time but this time his voice was on edge. Today I took Esma to my favorite restaurant for lunch. I could take her to the nearest bakery on the next street but I can’t make myself to do that. Somehow, I liked to spend time with her. but I can’t speak it on her face. I like her instantly when I first saw her. she is perfect in every way.She was everything a man needed; she should be worshipped. And this gives me another reason to hate myself. But I can’t make myself to tell her all the horrible things I have done, how I shred the blood of innocents. I am not worth enough for him. I am a monster.Cursed.After lunch Asher was calling me non-stop. I drop Esma on the gates and left only after ensuring she had entered the castle. She was totally opposite of me, ev
Reed’s pov “You got to be fucking kidding me moon goddess.” I said under my breath and sprinted to my room. Diana? Seriously out of all the people, Diana? And that to with Esma’s brother? That shitty, good for nothing brother of hers. I closed the door behind me so hard that it could break open from the ceiling. I washed my face several time trying to cool down my anger and closed my eyes. You are afraid Reed. Words of moon goddess rings in my head again and again. Suddenly, an idea struck to my brain and I walked back to the room and pulled out my bag under the bed. I know Luna is playing a game with me, she sure knows how to push my buttons. Today is Friday, which means Blood moon is six days away. After blood moon, I will lose her. I have to meet her today only. I have to know what is in her mind. I quickly wore a black hoody; I don’t want other people to know that I going out. I opened the la
Hey lovely people! Thank you once again for picking my book and showering so much love on Esma and Reed. I am really glad for everyone who made it till here. This book is on the board because of all your love and support. I am truly and deeply thankful for it! Love you guys to the moon and back. It's been a joy ride writing this book and sharing with you people. Thank you for sticking till the end with me and tolerating my grammar and other mistakes. I am grateful to you guys for your kind comments. Your constant support have pushed me to write this book and motivated me to write the second one in the cursed series. I read many Werewolf stories, or at least enough for me to plot something that no one did, I will let you people decide if I am succeeded or not. Now, back to the work. 1. What happened to Reed and Esma? will they ever meet again? 2. Who or what really was theDarkness
“WHAT?” August asked-shouted and I slammed my hand on his mouth to shut him up immediately.“Can’s you keep your tone low for a second?” I removed my hand from his face and sat back on my chair. It was already half past twelve so technically it was morning. Diana was still unconscious. I walked in the kitchen to prepare some coffee.August followed me silently, I looked at him from the corner of my eye, he was equally restless. I put the coffee on the stove and turned to face him.“When did you think parents will return?” I asked trying to change the topic. He didn’t look at me, his eyes fixed on the stove as if he was in the deep thoughts.“August?” I snapped my fingers in front of him and he finally acknowledged my presence.“Huh? I don’t know, we have a house in the city, it is already late, they must have stayed there only.” He said and
I closed the door behind me as soon as I entered the house. My eyes were searching for the only person who was responsible for all of it.I quickly sprinted in the direction of kitchen; August’s scent was the most prominent there.“Why did you do this to me?” I bellowed. August looked perplexed by my sudden outbreak; his face was covered in confusion. He must have noticed my swelled eyes and tears-stained cheeks because in the next moment he was by my side.“What happened Emmy?” he asked and I know he was purely intact from the whole situation.“Where is Diana?” I asked instead and he jolted back a little hearing the anger and hatred in my voice.“She has locked herself in her room since morning. I tired to asked her but she only asked me to go away.” He said and his face fall momentarily. As soon the words were out of his mouth, I was quick on my heels and knocked on the door. august sil
Esma’s povI quickly transformed in my wolf as soon as Reed left me alone in the house. My wolf was bugging me whole day to let loose and let her run. It has been ages since I changed into my wolf.Last time I transformed in my wolf it was when I showed it to Reed on the night when he took me out for our date. I quickly piled off my clothes and put them in a carry bag and soon let my wolf took over my senses. The bones twisted, turned and snapped and in the next second, I was standing in all four. Elsa let an ear-piercing howl and with that we ran in the direction of the forest. My paws rugged through the ground as I pushed myself more and more to run faster.Other wolves bowed in front of me as soon as they sensed me. I didn’t stop and continued running deeper into the forest till I reached the borders. Suddenly Elsa stopped on the tracks and started sniffing around. Her ears straightened and she growled lowly as if sensing s
“What did you just say?” Reed asked and I could already feel he was trying to control his anger, trying not lose his calm but failing miserably.“I…” I gulped soundly and looked around for someone, anyone for my rescue.Fuck, not Diana, not even August.“I met Hecate last night.” I said and pursed my lips. I don’t know why but for some reason he intimidates me so much. Suddenly I felt like I was standing in a principal’s office and he was not my mate but the old grumpy teacher. He closes his eyes and tried to take deep breaths. “I am not grumpy.” he grumbled and suddenly I started giggling. He looked annoyed and… embarrassed.I giggled and soon they turned into full-on hysterical laughs. He didn’t say anything then, just kept looking at me amusingly.“What did you find amusing?” he asked and I could feel he was also trying to supress his smile.
“What are you doing here Esma?” A very familiar voice interrupted my train of thoughts. I turned to the owner of the voice which revealed to be none other than that of Dumeny. He looked amused and happy at the same time. I must be clutching the door knob with so much force because in the next moment Dumeny walked towards me and touched my hand to release it.Immediately the door opened and a pair of hands wrapped around my waist trying to pull me again to the bedroom.“No running, kitten.” Reed chuckled and pulled me more towards him but stopped as soon his eyes collided with Dumeny’s and finally set on his hand on mine.Without wasting any second I lose my hand from his hold and chuckled nervously.“Hey Dumeny. What a surprise visit. Huh?” I said and rubbed my neck nervously. The two alphas were staring into each other’s eyes, demanding authority and trying to prove the
I woke up as the sun shined down at my face from the window. My eyes blinking the harshness of the bright sun away and trying to focus. Reed’s arms were wrapped around me. His hands clutching my waist, keeping my bottom close to his and his other hand under my head acting as a pillow. His scent surrounded me. I admired his features. He is so sexy in his sleep. I gently put my hand on his wrist and as slowly as carefully I could, tried to lift and remove it. I had succeeded halfway when his hand grabbed mine and turned me over, pulling down underneath himself and climbing on top of me. I gasped in surprise, barely managing to hold my scream. “What?” I whispered as my eyes widened and shot up to look at his beautiful face. “Why did you wake me up?” Reed growled in a sleepy voice and dropped his face in my neck, leaving a trail of kisses from the blade of my shoulder to the insides of my neck. I twitched instantly, the ticklish feeling of
“You have to be more specific when telling the directions.” I said reaching the same cliff where I first met her, few days ago. So much have happened since then.I have seen Reed’s past, his life, his struggles and his curse. We were marked now. We were officially mates now. I knew she was already here as I could sense her. she was hiding in the woods. But this time she was alone.“I don’t want unwanted arrivals.” Hecate said emerging from the woods. Her eyes were the first thing that capture my attention whenever we meet. They were still purple and I sighed in relief internally. Her gaze collided with me and for some reason I could sense her smile.“You have seen it haven’t you?” she asked. I tried my best to look smug and obvious but I know she was a witch and probably seen it before meeting me here.“Why did you send the human on my territory? And that to severely injured. You could send me th
