The CEO

.

He clenched his fist, his face contorted with uncontained rage, and bellowed with a voice that could shatter mountains, “Damon!”

The dam broke, and the fury I had been bottling up for so long surged forth. “Mr. Williams!” I roared back, matching his intensity.

My father leaned back, a sinister chuckle escaping his lips, echoing in the room like the taunt of a villain. "You’ve finally lost your mind, haven’t you?"

“Yes, I have!” I shot back, my voice trembling with fury. “All you do is push me, over and over again, until my back’s against the wall. Now, with nowhere left to retreat, all I can do is fight back!” My eyes narrowed, and veins bulged on my neck as I spoke.

“It’s foolish to fight back, Damon,” he said, his tone brimming with unshakable confidence. “A battle you can’t win. You’ll never defeat me.” At that moment, there was nothing I desired more than to shatter that confidence, to crush it beneath the weight of my defiance.

I chuckled, running my hand through my

Aria..A groan escaped as I shut Aria’s diary. The snap fills the otherwise silent room in Damon’s villa. My head was spinning, and an ache had inhabited it, making a home out of my head. Detective Andrew had told me when he went to Twinkle Company they had told him it was a long time ago, so they had lost the records, making it difficult for him to get any more information. Knowing Damon’s name was the one actually used, I told him we could find more clues, and that was what I had been doing from her diary. But her description was so vague. Never did she mention the man’s name once—not even a physical description. I turned on the bed, casting my gaze on the ceiling like there was some hidden clue in there. Sighing, I shut my eyes, sifting through my thoughts for any methods that could be used to get more details about him. After a while, Elaina popped into my head. She was the closest to Aria and the only one I know who knew Aria.I reached for my phone beneath the pillow and d

The toy . . I dashed into the café, the door swinging shut behind me with a soft jingle. The rich aroma of freshly brewed coffee intertwined with the scent of warm pastries, curling into my nostrils like a familiar embrace. It awakened something deep in my belly, a growl of hunger that stirred but quickly died as if my appetite had forgotten how to wake up properly. My grip tightened on my bag as it threatened to slip from my shoulder. I made my way to the table tucked in the far corner of the café. The soft chatter of other patrons buzzed around me. I approached Mr. Andrew, who was seated at a table, clad in a sharp green suit paired with a black long-sleeve underneath. He was sipping American coffee from his mug, the steam curling lazily into the air. "Good afternoon, Mr. Andrew. I'm sorry I'm late," I said, offering a slight bow of apology before taking a seat across from him at the same table. "Hello, Ms. Aria. How have you been?" He asked, his eyes pausing on my face, sc

Instead, my heart pounding intensified. “Tell him to come in.” As soon as I said those words, Mr. Hudson appeared right behind my P.A. With his lazy gait, he strode in and settled in the seat across me. “Good morning, Mr. Wesley.” “Good morning, Mr. Hudson.” I leaned in and clasped my hand beneath my chin, My stubble was pricking the back of my palm subtly. “You had something to tell me?”“Yeah, I found the man you are looking for.” A raspy sound brushed against the sudden silence in the room as he rubbed his beard. “I could have said it over the phone or text, but I prefer to give important information in person.

The toy...The cool Saturday morning breeze swept across the picnic ground, carrying the scent of grass and chatters of the other girls who sat a distance away from us. Jessie, Eliana, and I sat on a picnic mat, encircling the different snacks—a big juice and a bottle of wine. With the whole tension from the investigation, Eliana decided we should hang out to take my mind off things. “How’s the investigation going?” Jessie asked, pouring juice into her glass. Eliana nudged her. “We brought her out to take her mind off things and not remind her of it.” She glanced at me. “Look at her, the puffy eyes and pale face. She needs to take her mind off things.”“The only thing that can take Ari’s mind off anything is work.” Jessie sipped from her juice. “This is wonderful.” She whipped her toward me and poured the juice into my empty glass. “Try this; you would love it.”Jessie was right; this picnic wasn’t going to take my mind off things, not when things were not making progress. The CEO..My car headlights pierced through the night, casting partial shadows on me as they merged with the darkness cloaking the path to my villa. The gates opened, and I drove in, my eyes immediately catching sight of the black car. Fear gripped me as I recognized it as my father's. I bolted out of my car, sprinting towards the house. "Why is he here?" I thought, my heart pounding. "Did he come to hurt Binky?" My body betrayed my fear, every movement tense and jittery. The more I thought about it, the more my fear gave way to anger. As I opened the door, my fist tightened at the sight of my father sitting in the living room. He was seated across from Binky. "Are you alright?" I asked as I hurried to her. I dropped to my knees beside her, cupping her face. "Did he hurt you?" I repeated, my eyes narrowing as I scanned her for any sign of distress. The blood trickled down and tainted my white dress shirt. The shards of broken bottles that carpet the corner behind me. I forced a smile in an attempt to pacify her fear that was palpable. “It’s not that serious.” I tried wiping the coagulated blood on my head. She scurried towards me and cupped my hands between her palms. A frown formed on her face. “I hate when you do this; trying to act tough all the time.” Her tone dripped with seriousness. “You are only going to break.” Going to break, I chuckled inwardly; I might already be broken. My expression darkened. “What did he tell you before I came?” I remember the look in her eyes when I stepped in. The way fear tainted it made my heart ache. I needed to know if he had threatened her. The CEO..I swiveled in Tracy’s chair, waiting for her to arrive at her office. She had called me to meet her up at the office, and I hurried here, thinking she would be there. I had called her multiple times and even laid the threat that I was leaving, but an hour had gone by and she was still not here.“Oh God.” I smacked my forehead. “Remind me never to show up early whenever I meet up with her,” I muttered to myself. With boredom eating my soul, I opened the drawer, and a black album caught my eye. I took it out and opened it. The first picture was an old picture of her and my dad. They were probably in their early 20s and in college. They sat on a bench beneath a big tree with an extensive canopy. I hadn’t seen a picture of my father when he was young; this was the first time, and really the resemblance was uncanny. At first or a second glance, I could have passed as him. An image of him slipped into my mind; that’s how I am going to look when I’m older. I grimaced.I flippe

He handed me a bouquet of yellow roses.I smiled and accepted it. “How’s your sister?” I faced him. “Tell me you have stopped smoking.”It’s been a long time since I had a conversation with the outside world. I had no family and no friends ever came to visit. My friend had asked, and I told them that I ended it after discovering Damon wanted to absorb my company just like his father did to other companies.Leaning back on my office chair, I sighed. I was this close to having him. I jolted up as the door opened. “There’s a meeting with the board of directors,” Tina announced. “Now?” I raised a brow. “Why?” She adjusted her glasses. “Yes, Ma’am. The toy ..I dragged the last luggage down the stairs and placed it at the door. I was tired of being his toy. I was stupid to think that we would end up together. I had enough savings to start up my life. I need to run away from Manhattan, from New York. I need to move far away, to another place.I glanced around the apartment; so many beautiful and ugly memories; both of them haunted me.Opening the door, I gasped as my eyes fell on Damon. I held the tears that welled in my eyes. My heart twisted yet fluttered. Pain and relief fought to dominate my chest—neither won.His eyes fell on my luggage, and he frowned. “Where are you going?” What is he going to say to me? No, stay here and watch me get married to another woman. I rolled my wet eyes. “I’m leaving Damon.” I tried to bolster my voice, to show resolve. He inched closer and shut the door behind him. His beautiful amber eyes burned into mine. The eyes I had loved so much, that had caused me so much pain. Now one of my babies

The CEO..I climbed the stairs, each step feeling as heavy as the weight pressing down on my heart. Pearl had handed over the remaining 10 percent of the company shares to me, knowing that once the engagement and merger were finalized, the Wesley Corporation would likely dissolve Beckham Construction. The certificate was cold in my hands, but it felt meaningless now.As I passed by Lucy's room, the sound of her soft chuckle drifted out, followed by her mother's voice. I glared at the door. The thought of me spending the rest of my life with her was mentally gnawing. I was doing this for the child; once the child is enough, I'll get a divorce and just focus on my child. The memories of my childhood after my mother flooded in—just me and my father. "Damon isn’t around, right?" Mrs. Beckham asked. "Are you sure he is?"I was about to walk away, but the question glued my feet to the floor and, like a magnet, pulled my ears to the door."He isn't," Lucy replied, a note of excitement bub

The room around me was silent like it was holding its breath, waiting for me to break. And I did.I muffled my sobs, pressing the back of my hand against my mouth, trying to keep it together, even though no one was around to witness. My elbows dug into my thighs as I leaned forward, staring at the two red lines on the pregnancy test. They glared back at me, mocking me. I shook my head, refusing to believe it. This couldn’t be real. What now? My mind raced, thoughts crashing into each other like waves against a rock. Damon’s wedding was just two days away. Two days. Even if I told him, what would change? I could hear Mr. Brian's voice in my head, loud and clear. The wind whipped through my hair as the convertible glided down the winding road, the sun casting a golden glow over everything it touched. The expression on my father when I testified against him in court felt like an award—a medal.Opening the door to my house, my gaze fell on Mrs. Beckham and Lucy.Mrs. Beckham stood in the center of the room, her presence cold.My smile faded, “Mrs. Beckham,” I greeted her with a curt nod. Mrs. Beckham was the female version of my father, so I spoke, a knot formed in my stomach as her presence gnawed at me.She didn’t return my pleasantries. Instead, she placed a crisp white envelope on the burly wood table, her eyes boring into mine. “Open it,” she instructed, her tone strict and firm. I hesitated for a second before crossing the room.I hardened my gaze as I snatched up the envelope, the paper cool and smooth against my skin. I tore it open and pulled

I smacked my head with my hand, letting out a grunt. Tracy trudged in. She only kept thinner and paler. “How are you doing?” “How is Zach? Is he up?” My fingers fidgeted. “No.” She tossed a file to me. “That’s the rest of my company.” “Why are you giving me?” Tracy’s expression softened. “Damon, I can die any moment. I need to leave my company with someone competent.” A weak smile stretched her lip. “Now let go and take your freedom from your father.” She gripped my hand, a failed attempt to pull me up. Binky's tears haunted me; her face burned into my thoughts. But it was my father’s smile that truly kept me awake—the coldness, the quiet satisfaction he always had when things went his way. My hand gripped the bedsheet, twisting it, hoping it could ease my pain— but nothing.I couldn’t shake the thought—if only I’d been better, if only I’d been stronger if only I could’ve been more than this... this puppet he so easily manipulated. But I wasn’t. I was nothing more than a piece on his board and moved around to suit his game. The bitterness of it tore me from the inside out, choking with helplessness. • THE CEO’S TOY   CHAPTER 143 The toy

Toy..I sat in the large, imposing courtroom. The air thickened with tension, but Nope still hung over, hoping Justice could be served. The murmurs of spectators seized as the proceedings began, leaving the shuffle of the papers. My eyes fixed on Damon’s father, who stood in the defendant box. Occasionally, he would stare at me and flash a smile that aggravated me. His words still rang in my ears, the way he casually told me how I looked softer than Aria outside the courtroom. I clenched my fist, hoping he would rot in jail for eternity. Mr. Jackson stood at the defendant's box. His eyes constantly darted between me and Mr. Wesley. My chest was tight like I was carrying the weight of the world on my chest. The flutters in my stomach were so grave that I might have developed stomach cancer. I sighed, hoping Damon’s threat should have walked in. Damon had messaged Mr. Jackson once he confessed to Mr. Wesley. He would protect him as Mr. Wesley would be powerless and be behind bars.
