Louis started towards his office, forgetting his wife there in the elevator. And Barbara followed him. But not before she gave Wendy one last look of disdain.

Wendy stood there in the elevator feeling like a fool. Her husband had forgotten about her and it hurt like hell to watch her husband and his overly touchy personal assistant walk off like she didn't exist.

Barbara's hands were always on his body. Right in front of her, Barbara was holding on to his arms like her life depended on it. Why did Barbara always have to touch him?

They're obviously still fucking. He is going to have to explain to me his relationship with that girl, she thought as she marched to her office, seething.

When she sank into her chair, she was already burning with anger. Angry at Louis, his side chick. More especially, she was so pissed at herself.

What exactly was she doing?

The weekend must have been so thrilling that she had forgotten her place in the entire situation. She was still Louis' unwanted

Wendy sat in her office for hours, doing nothing and seeing no one. She was so bored and wondered why she had thought it was not so bad of an idea to go to work and yet do absolutely nothing. She was so used to having more than enough work at the library. Children would always be a handful. Now she had absolutely nothing to do, no one to talk to. She had had absolutely no human contact since the elevator earlier. And yeah, she was getting so hungry.Maybe she should get out and get food. At least she deserved to eat and stay alive even if she was not doing any work. She stood up from the seat and headed for the door. Stepping out, she shut the door behind her. Everyone she saw was so busy that she felt so useless and inadequate. She was sure that to the smart ones, it was damn obvious that she was just a spectator in the office.'This wasn't so much of a smart choice.' She said to herself.Yes, Louis had given her a bogus title:C.O.O., put her in an office that she knows nothing abou

Wendy had escaped by cat whiskers and she knew it. She knew it would have been over if he hadn't seemed so trusting for few minutes. He didn't ask her any pushy questions. He didn't interrogate he did on much less compromising situations he had caught her in, in the past. She had clutched her phone so tightly because she had half expected that he would suspect she had taken pictures. But he didn't. He even seemed genuinely sorry that she didn't get lunch because he was out. He hadn't even gotten her lunch once since she had started to work at Schelling's but he had apologized, regardless. There it was again. She always had reasons to think the worst of him and then he still gave her reasons to see him as a good person. He was the husband the husband that abandoned her and ran off with his secretary. Then he was also the sweet one who got her lunch and was ready to deal with anyone who spoke less of her.Why couldn't he be consistent? Or was his constant toggling between being a beas

He knew she had cried a lot. He had heard her through the night. The overly puffy eyes she had the next morning were telltales on their own. Plus the fact that she wouldn't even look him in the face. Oh how he wanted to hold her. He had wanted to break into her room that night, pull her close and comfort her. But if he did that, it would mean he was agreeing to her terms. Why did women always want more? He always made clear to the women that were ever in his life that he was not committing. Most of them agreed at first, or maybe pretended they agreed. They always wanted more. Who could resist having a piece of Louis Shelling? They always felt they would eventually get him to change his mind. Wendy was just different. She made him question a lot about himself. For years he had basked in the euphoria that he was the catch. Everything had always been on his terms. The ladies didn't have any other choice but to conform.Wendy had butted out, like he was nothing. And damn, those thre

Wendy rushed into the bathroom, panting hard. She stared at her reflection in the bathroom mirror. She has come to get one drink to clear her head. To get away from all the 'Louis-ness' in Schelling Global Cooperation. Still he had found her. He had brought the same aura to the bar where she was having a decent conversation with someone else. Someone new. When there was a hard knock on the bathroom door, she knew exactly who it was, without even asking. Why the hell would he follow her to the ladies bathroom?'I know you're in there and you can hear me.' He sounded like he was about to explode with anger. 'Can you behave yourself and just get back to whatever you were doing?' Wendy advised. 'This is a public space, Louis. This is a ladies bathroom. You can't come in here.'The door swung open immediately as if to prove her wrong. He stepped into the bathroom and the large room seemed so small to Wendy all of a sudden'This is what we're doing now? This is what we are doing now, Wend

Louis barked. She didn't even slow down. 'Well, I am done talking to you.' Wendy insisted and walked into her room. Louis followed. 'You don't get to throw yourself at any man because the first man you slept with, isn't into love. That's self destructive!'Wendy turned to face him. 'That's the issue with you. You think everything is about you. I wasn't having sex before I met you. I had sex with you first. So? You don't think I can move on from that? I never said I want love. I just wanted a committed partner. You made it obvious that I can't get it from you and I have moved on, Louis. If you think it is self destruction, I don't care.' Everything else happened like a movie. A box of new clothes, a box of shoes and a little box of jewellery were delivered to Wendy's room. An envelope containing a credit card was equally handed over to her.She was hurt. She had assumed something good was already coming out of their arrangement but she had been so wrong. It had been aborted as soon as it had began and Louis had moved on rather too quickly. He already had that hot girl over and they had obviously showered together. Wendy wondered if she shouldn't have gone with the relationship on his terms. At least he didn't have that bored look or the accusing look he always had when he spoke to her in the past. He even treated her like a queen. Bought her lunch. Plus the sex was great. Now he had gone back to stone cold. He had moved on like he had promised. Ordering her around like she was still that excort that had tried to set him up. When she had gotten back into her room, she had one thing in mind. To make him regret tossin

She had briefly looked up and returned back to her meal, quietly.Louis did not act like there was another person on the table. Louis nodded to his father's question and urged Wendy with his hand on her bare back to say something.Wendy did not know what to say to the man. So she went with an opening greeting.'Good day, sir.' Entering the dinning area, it was obvious to Wendy that the Mayor meant business. Everything was exquisite. The decor, the ambience, the food. It was a feast. Everyone was had a tinge of emerald green in their outfits. It was not an ordinary dinner. The cameras were enough proof. Wendy held on to her husband. He had told her that was all she had to do. And she really hoped so. She could see she wasn't the preferred wife and neither was she the wife of the preferred son. Mark was. And he had a lawyer fiancée, Vanessa, who everyone loved. She knew she couldn't compete with that but she hoped she wouldn't be embarrassed either. The lady of the house, Tiana, was as usual ignored by her step son. She didn't flinch. Instead, she wrapped Wendy in a warm hug. "I saw the videos, darling. I'm so sorry you had to go through that. " Tiana whispered. "Thanks." Wendy muttered stiffly. While she was comforted by the fact that the woman sympathised with her, she knew Louis did not app

When Wendy received the package from Louis, she didn't know how to react. She was still stinging from his distasteful announcement that she was nothing to him but an arsenal in the nasty battle between two parents. It was not like she wasn't aware her entire situation was temporary, but hearing it from Louis stung as hell.He probably didn't know what effect that statement had on her. He was out there about his normal business, casually sending in huge gift packages to serenade her. Or maybe he knew. That was why he was sending in the gifts. To make up for everything. The public damage on her image. The fact that he had basically incarcerated her in his house and had in clear terms referred to her as a fucking piece on their chessboard. She sat on the across the room and stared at the large gift packages that sat on the classic antique table in the room. She stared at the package with mixed feelings of curiosity and distaste. She wanted to know what he got for her and at the same ti

The mayor called.Louis was already getting pissed with the entire thing. The man would not take Louis calls but he had the luxury of calling Louis whenever he pleased and getting an answer. Now, it seemed Louis was back under his control. The old man was now involved with his relationship and Louis wasn't even allowed to do anything about the issue on ground. It was annoying. • THE CEO'S SLUTTY WIFE   A Pawn in the Game

Wendy had, as usual, carried on with her life like nothing has happened. At first, Louis was disturbed. And it threw Louis off, completely. And they had ended up never talking about the incident again. How would they? The woman treated him like he had been overacting. If he had not held her shaking body in his arms through the night, he would have started to doubt of the incident really happened. But today, Louis decided to play her game. I'm actually trying to figure out what you're chattering on about.''You have not seen the news? Your little wife is being eaten up everywhere. The doctor checked her up and concluded that nothing serious had happened to her. 'Nothing serious? Her eyes were white. See the way she's shivering under a blanket. This is a frigging heated blanket. Do you see how hot this place is?' Louis questioned the man. The doctor scratched his head quickly, thinking of the right words to say to get Louis off his neck.
