Stephanie was pissed that Tom was playing hard to get with her. She had decided to abandon her pride and just let him know how she felt, but it was clear as day that he didn’t have a space for her in his heart.

She had done her background check and found out that he didn’t have any crush or girlfriend, so she was confident that she would certainly be able to win his heart. She didn’t entirely blame him though, because she was the one that flunked her chance, he had made his crush obvious to her and even confessed, but she turned him down because she felt he was not up to his standard.

“I feel like a fool”, she muttered to herself, and blinked severely to stop the tears that were about to come out.

She wanted to start the car when she held a knock on her window, she lowered it and saw Tom there heaving as he rested his hand on the car.

“Where do you think you are going at this time?”, he asked, and she raised her confused eyebrows.

“What do you mean? I am going home, of course”, sh

Chairman Holland got dressed and sat down at the dining table to have breakfast that was placed in front of him. He took a spoon of the sauce from his plate and spat it out at the speed of light. A deep frown etched on his forehead as he turned to yell at Anita, who was busy overseeing the other dishes in the kitchen few meters away from the table. “What is this trash? Did you lose your sense of taste? Why have you been cooking rubbish in this house for some time?”, he shouted as he slammed his hand on the table at the mention of each word. Anita was taken aback and enveloped with fear at his fuming site that she didn’t know if she should apologize first or rush over to change his sauce. She wiped her hand continuously on her apron in fear as Chairman rained a heap of insults on her while she just stood there with nothing to say. Joseph, who overheard the commotion from his room, went outside to check what was happening to his father, who was fuming mad in the house. He approached t

Amber and Tom rescheduled their visit to the secret house and went on a Saturday. He had picked her up at a designated point and drove her all the way to the house. They maintained an atmosphere of silence in the car throughout the drive and Amber just enjoyed the view of the city she didn’t even know was that beautiful because she was always lost in her own busy world. They went to the house, and he took her to see the paintings he had previously painted and kept in the secret room in the basement. She could not keep her shocked expression to herself as she walked through the room filled with paintings of different sizes, patterns and colors. She slowly trailed her hand around one of the canvases sitting on the painting stand in the middle of the room and mumbled “This was the last one you posted on the page”, as she gazed at it with love and care. “I painted that one the same day I finished it, but I don’t really like the outcome”, he explained from behind, but she cut him short i

She kept staring at him as she lied on his rock-hard chest while Tom slowly drifted back to sleep. When she came to her senses, she flew up and quickly rushed out of the room back to the studio. She could not understand the feeling that was going on with her body because she was familiar with it, but she knew it shouldn’t be, he’s her boss. It’s not like she hasn’t fallen in love before, so she knew that she was crushing on him right now. She quickly shook her head and slapped her cheeks several times, so she could wake up to reality before puffing out two rounds of air from her tensed lungs. She spent all day catching up with the world of art by reading the books he picked out for her while he was sleeping soundly on the sofa. She was happy to stay in that place because she didn’t want to stay in the same house with Emily, who was always restless and uncomfortable around the house. Although she was enjoying her display of guilty show, she still needed to give herself space because s

Joseph didn’t apologize for the words he said to Anita when they went to eat out and also refused to eat at home even though she didn’t stop making his food. She decided to call his attention on the third day as he was walking out of the house in the morning. “I have set your food on the table, are you not going to eat again today?”, she asked with her hands in front of her apron, and he scoffed before turning to approach her. “Are you just dense, or you want to keep pretending? I don’t like you! You are just someone after my father’s money, and you want your son to take over a company that he doesn’t even have the right to. I know all that you are planning. Do you want to poison me? To die? Or get bedridden for the rest of my life? I am sorry, but I will never fall for such tricks, so don’t bother to use it on me”, he lashed out at her while she stood there looking at him talking down on her with a speechless expression. He marched to the door before stopping to add “Don’t ever cook

Anita had woken up that morning with an extreme pain all over her face. She was having some headaches too, accompanied by a runny nose, but she took a painkiller instead to relieve the pain and planned to visit the doctor when she’s through with her chores for the day in the kitchen. She was the only one at home since the other maid was on vacation and was almost done with her work when Amber came to retrieve the file from Tom’s room. She was led inside by the security and Anita ran to greet her when she entered the house with him. “You are Tom’s secretary, right? Thank you for the other day. I haven’t been able to thank you properly, I am so sorry”, she said with a smile, and Amber returned the warm smile immediately. She moved closer to her and bowed a little, “It was nothing. I am glad that I was able to help out, so you don’t to have to thank me anymore.”, Amber replied and she nodded. “What are you here for?” Anita asked further, and she replied that she was here at Tom’s reque

Anita finished her treatment at the hospital and was discharged, but Joseph didn’t show up throughout her stay. She got home and found him playing games with Charles. She greeted him, and he ignored her, but Charles replied by asking how her health was. “I am now fine, thank you for your concerns”, she told him, and left them to their game. Charles cautioned Joseph by telling him not to take his anger out on the poor woman who had fed him and took care of him like her own son ever since she came to their house, but Joseph was not ready for all his preaching. “She’s only acting pitiful, so she can get as much attention as she can. I don’t care about anyone but myself, so spare me the sermon”, he stated sharply before dropping the game’s console that he'd lost interest in the game, while Charles just sighed, he didn’t even know what to tell him anymore. *** The day for the exhibition was fast approaching and both Tom and Amber were preparing as if their lives depended on it, which

He settled on the chair and blurted out “Why are there so many dishes? Are we having a guest?” in confusion and before his mother could reply, Chairman Holland and Joseph appeared at the table. The dinner ended with Joseph leaving the table, but Tom made sure to stay and finish his food. He was so famished after all, and he wouldn’t let the discussion on the table rob him of his precious food. He went back to his room for the continuation of his office work when he met Joseph rolling on his chair behind the table. He ignored him and opted for the bed instead, before remarking “I don’t think we are close enough to wait for each other in our rooms without permission”, but Joseph scoffed. Standing at his feet and circling the chair before moving to etch his buttocks on the edge of the table for closer communication with Tom, he started to talk about how Tom was never accommodating. “You have always been like this, you were never open to me. You were always anxious about being in the same space with me, and you wouldn’t even spare me a glance. Was I that much of a threat to you?”, he questioned, and Tom cackled before sitting upright. “You? A threat? Why should I see you as a

All of his decisions affected the company negatively, which led to the investors grumbling and so much loss occurred. When Chairman Holland couldn’t contain his disappointment and worry, he started to nag Joseph, who got angry at his nagging and when it became unbearable for him, he had him put on house arrest where he cut off his connections to everyone. He began his move to become the chairman and everything was set in place with the help of Charles. On the day of his announcement, he walked briskly into the company with the will he forced the Chairman to sign a few days ago, naming him as the next chairman by transferring all his shares to him. The meeting was ongoing when Tom marched in with the police, to their surprise. No one was expecting him to show up in that place and at that time. Over the months, Tom’s condition was increasing as he became vibrant and cheerful, unlike when the accident had just occurred. He enjoyed listening to stories of the past from his mother, so he knew some information about himself, and they were enough to know who he was. After seeing Amber in his articles over and over, she caught her attention and wondered who she was, but his mother only told him that she was his secretary without including the relationship they had because she was still angry about how she left abruptly. Anita had gone shopping that fateful day and one pretty lady shifted for her to tender her goods first even though she was not obligated to and in the process of thanking her, she saw that it was who she never expected. The shopping basket fell from Amber’s hand at the sight of Tom’s mother, but she was quickly helped by the stores employees who ran to gather the scattered goods. Joseph called Charles, who had been released on bail out, for a party to celebrate his new position, and they laughed about Tom, who thought he was smart but ended up losing everything. He was so furious about that and Joseph happened to call him at that time that Tom was on the verge of taking everything away from him. Charles and Joseph resolved to the option of causing him an accident on the inauguration day while making him feel he had the upper hand during the preparations. Joseph also pressured Eddy to make sure he blackmailed Amber to get rid of her from his side so that their plans would be perfect. Eddy was the one that provided them with the man whom they paid to mess with Tom’s car and everything went according to their plans without any hitch or trace to them. “Yo! Even though the video was doing so many things for her, she still tried to keep her cool and smiled at Tom, who was waiting to take her home. That very day, he decided to take her on a dinner date, which further complicated things for her because she was eager to get home before her anxiousness burst out in front of Tom. Throughout the dinner, he was laughing and smiling more than usual, maybe because he was anticipating the inauguration day, and she tried her best to match his smile while trying hard not to pick on the food in front of her. After a walk to the restroom, she decided to push the thoughts aside and just enjoy the time with him because there was a probability she would be resigning and fleeing to save his face on that day. At the sound of her mother’s footsteps approaching her room to check up on her, they split apart and bounced to the edge of the room where they both put on their clothes, and they took off in a flash. She placed the pictorial magazine on her dressing table in his hands as he pushed him into the chair and her mother came in at that instant. “You should open the door if you are inside instead of making me go through the stress of passcode. Why do you keep stressing me?” her mother ranted, and immediately her eyes landed on Tom, her lips folded themselves. She was not expecting to see anyone at home with her not to talk of Tom, because she knew they had been in an argument for weeks. Her feet retracted themselves as she went back to the door as quickly as she had come. “You said you won’t be coming until tomorrow, why are you here?”, Amber slammed her, and she had no choice but to stop and answer that the doctor attended to her quickly, so she just thought about coming home instead of

They both got into the car, and they rode for the first few minutes in silence before she tried sparking a conversation between them. “Wow! Did something change in your car? Something looks unfamiliar”, she said, but he only kept his face on the road in silence. “Is it the scent? The seat’s leather or the color of the belts? Something is weird. Has it been that long I got into your car?”, she blabbered, but as much as he wanted to give a response, he held himself back. She knew her tricks to make him talk were not working on him. It was then she realized the extent of the damage she had caused by her hard-headedness. She didn’t even give him any room for explanation, kept on assuming and believing things on her own accord. He also didn’t even make the effort to explain things which he didn’t blame him for because, at that moment, he had requested her trust which she failed in giving to him. The rest of the drive was in silence, and he finally pulled in front of her house after a tw

Even though Mr. Joe offered to drive her back. She declined flatly and told him she would find her way home. She ordered a taxi back home and the thoughts of how Tom could do something drastic at someone’s wedding overflowed her brain. As much as she wanted to laugh so hard at his priceless reaction when his karma came back to bite his ass, the despair the bride must be feeling wouldn’t allow her laugh as much as she wanted. For some reason, she knew within her that Tom only forced her to come, so she could witness the scenario as a payback for what happened back then at the company, but she was still not happy with him. His methods and approach were wrong to her. Nothing could justify the wickedness he had portrayed by ruining someone else’s wedding just for revenge. Time flew by, and she didn’t even know when the taxi would get to her house. The driver had to alert her that they were already at their destination before she jerked out of her deep thoughts. After making payment, she

That very day, Charles and Joseph were having that conversation. Tom had gone back to the kitchen to get himself some water when he heard them discussing Amber and what happened at the company. He wanted to burst in and punch Charles hard, but he restrained himself and thought this would be a perfect way to break his wings that he had been planning to get by getting married to a powerful family like Joy’s. He made sure to record everything that he had said without them knowing before moving back to his room. He had been thinking about how to use it since then and didn’t know until he remembered the wedding coming up. The thought of releasing it on their wedding day crept into his mind, but he also thought about how it would ruin the day of Joy, who is the bride. Kicking against the idea, he hid the recording in his safe at home until one fateful day he had to meet with one of the investors at a golf course. The investor received a call and took a twenty-minute excuse before leaving
