"I... I didn't realize," Alexander managed to say, his voice choked with emotion. "I never meant to make her feel alone. I thought... I thought I was doing enough by providing for her, by taking care of the practicalities."

Maria's anger began to dissipate, replaced by a mixture of empathy and understanding. She reached out to touch Alexander's arm gently. "Sometimes, it's not just about the practicalities. Emma needs your emotional support, your presence by her side. She needs to know she's not alone at all but all you both have been doing is making her worry more than she should be."

As the weight of his mistakes sank in, Alexander's shoulders slumped, and he let out a deep sigh. "You're right, Maria. I've been so focused on work and depressing matters that I neglected what truly matters. I need to be there for her, not just physically, but emotionally as well.
