Chapter 78

The smell of coffee was beginning to feel unappealing as I was getting way too used to it in the mornings. Alexander stood by the counter, a smile playing on his lips. His eyes twinkled with excitement, and I couldn't help but feel my heart skip a beat.

"Good morning, Emma," he greeted, leaning in to give me a gentle kiss on the cheek. "I have something important to tell you."

I raised an eyebrow, curious. "What is it?"

Alexander's smile widened. "We're going on a small vacation."

I couldn't hide my excitement. "That sounds amazing! When are we leaving and to where?"

"Next week," he replied. "Which is why I've decided to take a few days off from work. I want us to make the most of our time together."

A mix of emotions washed over me. I was thrilled at the prospect of spending quality time with Alexander, but at the same time, a pang of guilt surfaced. My mind raced with thoughts of the workload Alexander would be leaving behind.
