Avalynn woke up from her sleep as the gentle light of the morning sun streamed through the curtains.

With a gentle flicker, her eyes opened, revealing Jace standing near the balcony with his back to her.

She didn't even need to see his face to feel the intensity of his feelings at that very instant.

She was almost able to sense the turmoil rising within him.

Avalynn sat up and slink out of bed, taking care not to wake him. Gently, she moved across the floor until she was standing next to Jace on the balcony.

Avalynn lightly touched Jace's shoulder with her hand. "You were unable to fall asleep?" she inquired in a soothing, low voice.
