Mistakes and leftovers

We were invited to dinner again tonight and called up to sit with Mr Vanderbilt himself at the highest table, thanks to our 'relationships' with the Vanderbilt twins.

I kept glaring in Shawn and Maddie's direction, anger curdling my blood. They were sitting so close and giggling and whispering to each other right across from me and I had twisted my fork into mangled metal three times tonight now.

I noticed... I noticed everything about Maddie tonight. She had gone for a more conservative dress than last time with a Cleopatra style neckline, and a sparkling silver dress that clung to every part of her svelte, slender figure. She was wearing a diamond bracelet that she had told me was gifted to her by Shawn and I simmered in rage and told her it looked nice.

They were talking in low, hushed tones and his hand was clasped over hers on the table for everyone to see. She was looking up at him with literal stars in her eyes, looking like she was intereste
