Jaxon Ryker, that name has caused more terror in the hearts of many werewolves than anything ever since he took his place as the Alpha of the Blazepelt pack. I am one wild and crazy person but that does not mean that I would like to be in the same place as someone who can literally slash my throat without a single thought or even a bit of remorse. I have never met the guy but the stories of all he has done are enough to make me wish I never meet him but I guess I will have to if I am going to this "event" that our Alpha is hosting.
They could have held it in some other pack but they just had to go with the CruelCrown pack heck they could have even held it in the Blazepelt pack but they are all just scared of being in the territory of one of the most feared Alphas and so they had to go with the Alpha who is more peaceful and not death conceited. Who knows what could happen at the end of this same "event", maybe someone might die or an Alpha, the usual Alpha drama.
I will just have to lay low for the rest of the night, keep a low profile and try my best to not have any drinks containing alcohol, the last thing I need is to be on the blacklist of most of the Alphas and more especially the Alpha of the Blazepelt Pack; I love being alive you know. Alpha Jaxon Ryker is the type of person that is normally in your nightmares and has a huge sword covered with blood. People call him the blood-stained alpha because he has taken the lives of different werewolves, and he has the biggest pack territory than any other pack.
According to the stories, other's say he looks like a huge monster, and others say it's like standing in front of the gods because he has such great looks but my imagination totally processed a totally ugly man with an eye patch and the sword and a distorted face; blame the movies because most of the time the bad guy looks like he was picked up from a space crash, especially Disney.
"I just can't believe it yet." Vera stretched her arms on the bed and looked over at where I was seated on the small and fancy couch in her room.
"You better believe it," I said.
"I'll finally see what Alpha Jaxon looks like." She said and raised her body until she was sitting straight and looking at me. "Maybe he is drop-dead gorgeous." Her eyes were two wide balls that were sparkling in a room that had little lighting because the curtains were still down.
"Maybe he looks like the Hulk," I said.
"Yeah, the Hulk in his pants." She replied and I groaned.
I was usually cut out for anything but believe me when I tell you that I was not cut out for Vera's strong and dirty imaginative mind; she is the literal example of "the quiet and simple looking are the naughtiest and dirty-minded" kind of people. She is the best kind of friend any person would want but I do not take back anything when I say, her brain needs a lot of clean-up and lots of water and soap.
"Vera, you go for the good ones, not the ruthless killers," I said in a teaching tone.
"It's known that a bad boy can turn you on way faster than a good boy." She said and I chuckled.
She was into all these romance stories and I was now convinced that they were getting into her head and if only her parents did not keep her locked in this tower then she would not be imagining Alpha Jaxon's member. I knew that she was a sucker for the typical good girl falls for bad boy type of story and that is why she still had a crush on Lucas but this was getting worse if she was imagining the big bad Alpha's hulk.
"Not every bad boy is good-looking and has THE HULK." I put a lot of emphasis on the last part and Vera chuckled, by the way, I said it and what I meant. She knew that I believed that Lucas' had more of an Ant-man because he was a jerk.
"But Alpha Ryker has not yet found his mate and his 26." She said.
It was going to take longer to get her to snap out of the "Alpha Jaxon Ryker" trance she was in. It normally took a lot of effort to get her out of the "Lucas Colton" trances but this seemed much worse than any of the other trances she has ever been in.
"Don't get too far up in the clouds and the event is tomorrow so I'm borrowing one of your dresses," I said and she finally looked me in the eye.
"Make yourself at home but make sure my mother doesn't see the dress because she almost killed me last night." She had a horrified and tortured look on her face as she described the way her mother reprimanded her.
I stood up and stretched my arms, I rubbed my hands together and smirked before looking over at the door that leads to Vera's closet; how much I love this closet more than any store in the entire pack, it's like having a store nearby where all the clothes I like are free and just for a few favours like sneaking soda and junk food for Vera.
"Don't go imagining Hulks now," I told Vera and wagged my index finger at her in a disapproving way and she laughed.
"I'll try my best." She replied and I walked over to her closet in search of something more presentable since my mother says all my clothes look like they were picked from a trash can.
...///...///...///...
"I don't know why you're complaining."
"I'm not complaining, I'm making my thoughts known." My mother replied and I could see the urge in her to explode in my face and tell me off but shockingly she had not done that yet; take note of the 'yet'.
"But mom Vera doesn't have a problem, I don't have a problem. Why do you have a problem?" I asked while dining on the pasta my mother cooked.
I had just arrived back home with an empty stomach after a long day of visiting Vera and robbing her closet and all I wanted was to have my supper and sleep but thou shall not forget about the wonderful 'momster' by the door waiting to bite immediately when I arrived back.
She had first indirectly scolded me about my dirty shoes on her clean rug and I had to take them off and then she started complaining about how she cooked supper all by herself and now her latest "making her thoughts known" was about how my closet has now become a runoff from Vera's closet just because she saw the dress in the bag I came back with that is still on the couch in the living room.
"You know why." She replied and gave me a side glare before turning back to the plates she was packing.
We've had this talk before and I thought we had wrapped it up but my mother never wrapped anything that involves the Kamdens, especially Mrs Kamden because according to her the woman is a devil. Mrs Kamden had called my mother a beggar when she found out that I "borrow" Vera's clothes and that did not really go well with my mother. I do not know why the two women are always constantly finding a reason to insult each other but it was still entertaining even though it would worry me about Vera and me.
"Both you and I know you aren't a beggar so just let that woman's comments roll over," I advised her even though I too would never let a comment by Mrs Kamden roll over without a huge comeback.
"That woman really pushes my buttons." She fisted her hands and I was scared for the red cloth in her hand. "She's such a....such a...bitch." She finally let it out.
I stood up and washed the plate I was eating on, I turned off the water and passed my mother the plate for her to wipe and place it back in the right place. I wiped my hands on my jeans and looked at my mother who had now finished with everything. I walked out of the kitchen and smiled at my father who was watching the usual news program he normally liked.
"She let it out? He asked and I chuckled.
"Hopefully she won't whine for the whole night," I answered and picked up my bag that was on the couch.
"No unnecessary drinking tomorrow, sweetie." He said and I smiled.
"I'll try," I replied and climbed up the stairs to my room.
The next day was gonna be a very energy-sucking day and even my wolf felt giddy which worried me a bit, I was not going to get drunk for sure maybe a few drinks but not enough to make me drunk. I just pray that I do not encounter any Alphas, especially Alpha Ryker.
I felt like I was doing the wrong thing as I tied my hair up into a French pleat. It was not because I felt like I was doing it wrongly, I was actually acing it but my concern was as to why I was up early.Everything seemed bizarre and I could swear that the morning had a different feel to it than most mornings I had ever experienced and that indicated something.I could feel uneasiness in the pit of my stomach and my wolf seemed more excited to start the day, that meant something since she was not a morning person or wolf. I should know because she's constantly torturing me about how I am always awake.'Sasha, you're giving me a headache from all that excitement.''would you just let me be, it's kinda rare to see you up at this time?" The excitement in her voice rang through my head and I could have experienced a mini migraine.'Why are you so excited?''oh...just nothing.'I decided to shrug her off and went downstairs straight after making sure I had everything I needed for the "ev
I would have probably called it a nightmare if it were not for the fact that I was wide awake and my mind was forcefully awake. The alcohol had suddenly flashed out of my system when my eyes landed on the awful sight.I could feel the bile rising up in my throat but I was more determined to find my parents. As if with the chaos everything and the surroundings had gone dark, I knew that having a group of alphas in one place would only give birth to unfathomable chaos. How had they caused so much chaos? I only went for a drink and to pee.I wiped the sweat off my forehead as I searched for any familiar faces in all the chaos but different bodies of wolves kept on flying in my direction. I tried to mind link my parents but I was totally blocked out and when I tried my mother, it was like...she was not even there. My wolf whimpered as I tried to avoid other wolves and make myself unknown in the vast fields of battle. Most of the wolves had already shifted and those that had not shifted lo
SIXThe awakening of my body was taking longer than usual and was taking a toll on my mental soundness. My eardrums could only pick up the faint sound of a slow beep and muffled voices. Somehow, I knew where I was and felt as if I was awake and my brain felt more awake than ever as if I had taken a full gallon of coffee. But my body felt heavy while my mind felt light and fit. Why was I being held down and not able to move a single muscle but just hear the sounds around me as muffled voices? My eyelids felt heavy and even though I preferred it more when my eyes were closed, I needed to open my eyes because it felt like I was slowly dying. I could not feel Sasha or her constant nagging; I was on pause. Was I dying?Dying?Death? That word raged through my awakened mind until it finally hit the right chord. As if my body had now decided to accept my brain's commands, it woke up. I had never felt more tormented than when memories of my parents flashed through my head, being played back a
SEVENI looked at my hands and felt waves of emotion hit back and forth that the little cell felt too small like a small shoe box. Among the sad emotions, disgust was also vivid. I could not stand being in my own body anymore, my hair was mated to my body with sweat and my forehead and other parts of my body still had splotches of blood; some of it was mine, most of it for the other wolves I killed and the other.....My mother's blood was still on me. I wanted to wash it all away, that dreadful day, meeting him and losing the two most important in my life. I was too young to be going through all this trauma, I was an adult but I was still as young as a little pup in the eyes of my parents and now I could no longer look into their eyes and see their emotions.....because of him.I tried to tie up my dirty hair into a bun but I failed miserably because I was tired and starving. I did not know for how long I had been in this little kinky and dirty cell but I could guess about four to five
EIGHTOne last pull of fuel from the tank and I would make it out of this hell!I was running not because I felt like my life depended on it but I was running because my life actually depended on it, if I could not make a run out of this place only God knows what he would do to me. I could not risk getting caught especially now that I could feel them trailing behind me, I was still in their territory but if I made it out maybe I could survive though they would still be on the chase for me.He would not stop hunting for me especially since I am his mate but making it out of his territory would surely give me an advantage. I was in between a rock and a hard place especially since I did not want to go back to my pack and endanger the whole Cruelcrown pack, I could not do that adding to more problems since the Blazepelt Pack had already pulled an attack on the pack just a week ago. I would not be selfish. I did not even know what state my pack was in and it made it worse that I could not
NINE"Can I at least have a bottle of your strongest wine before you throw me back in that shit hole?" I kept on conversing with them even though I could feel and see the irritation bouncing off of the men.I smiled as they pulled me back in the direction of Blazepelt pack. I was being dragged by a large man who had a permanent frown on his face and his hold on me was hard, I felt like my arm was going to split in half. I think it was mostly my fault that he was out to snap my arm because he was the same one who I had licked earlier. Alpha Ryker was walking silently behind us but his presence sure was not silent and it did not make anything better with my wolf finally awake and getting excited over our killer mate. After this encounter I was more determined to make another run because let us just be honest, I almost outrun the Alpha and his top warriors. I stared back at him and turned back immediately when his hazel eyes met mine. I was very ready to make a run for it again when I s
TENWhen he said, "not in a shit hole" I actually thought that I was no longer going back to the hollow and horrid-smelling cell. The thought made me feel relief beyond measure and some part of me-the more wolf part- expected him to take me to his house. I was not against the thought of being away from that cell but I was not for the idea of being in the same house as him. Everything had started feeling like an internal battle between my wolf and me, especially when it was something that had to do with our so-called mate.Sasha was more in love with the fact of mating with our mate and that meant being ready to forgive him. Hell, I was not ready to even give him a single chance, he had taken away my happiness in a flash. That was something I was not willing to forgive, I was not even given the chance to say goodbye to my parents and give them a befitting burial....this was all because I was paired with a selfish bastard. Mother luna really decided to be unfair on my part. My mate was
"Come on, you don't want to ignore me." Alec's voice cut through my protesting grunts and groans. "I know that I'm your only company." The smugness that was filling his voice made me want to do nothing more than throw a hard punch at his face.I straightened my body on the bed and unveiled my face from the shield of pillows. The smug look was still on his face as I glared at him. I was definitely seeing a new side of him regarding the fact that the other time I talked to him, he sounded like a total creep. His features looked more vibrant and relaxed than when he had a serious and guarded look. He seemed happy and content with his surroundings, unlike me."What do you want?" I tried to seem braver than anything but an inner voice was telling me that this was the moment I was dreading, I tried to reassure myself that Alec could qualify to be a person who could be considered something close to a friend."I just came to keep you company." He replied and I threw him another glare when he
EPILOGUEAnabelle had Jaxon's arm around her, it was the comfort that she needed at that moment. His scent was what she needed more than anything. Everything around her was dull and dark just like the clothes that she was wearing including the weather. Jaxon tightened his hold around her waist and looked down at her because he could feel every emotion that she was feeling. She looked at the graves of the fallen members and guilt and pain swallowed her. How did the loved ones of all these people feel? "It's okay, my love" Jaxon whispered to her and kissed the top of her head. She looked up at him and gave him a sad smile before walking away and going towards Adam's grave. She could not believe that he was gone just like that. He was so young and had not even experienced the joy of having a mate but Anabelle was glad that he had not found his mate because if he had they would have been disappointed and in pain over losing their mate. She remembered how hurt Micah looked and she wished
EIGHTYTAYLOR'S POVIt was like the sky knew of our loss, it was completely dark and the rain was heavily pouring down and hitting the roof. I could hear the strong wind blowing on the leaves of the plants as I looked outside through the window of my and Danielle's room. The turmoil in all our hearts was almost the same as the gloomy weather that swept everything away. I looked down at my fingers and curled them up, trying to keep warm. If only things had turned out differently. My heart clenched with every memory that rang through my head. Her laugh, and those shiny green eyes, haunted my dreams every time...when I slept and when I was awake. Every thought of mine always trailed back to her. Whenever I cooked something I thought about what she would think about it. When I said something I wondered if she would agree with my words. If she were here with me, would she wake me up and tell me that I was having a horrible nightmare because it sure felt like one?The rain poured and swept
SEVENTY-NINEAnabelle could not comprehend what she was looking at. Bodies were lying everywhere, it was a terrible massacre. She could tell that Amaris was no longer holding back and was indeed doing what she promised to do, to wipe off werewolves. The smell of blood was heavy in the air and the number of bodies only seemed to increase as they drove to the pack house. Amaris had attacked the pack's centre and killed anyone she spotted. Guilt ate at Anabelle as she looked at the cadavers of people that were once so alive. 'Ana, where are you? I've tried to evacuate as many people from the pack house as I can but Amaris is killing the warriors that are trying to hold her off like they are mosquitoes.' 'We are almost there,'Cora's words haunted her mind, Amaris was on a killing spree and she would not stop until she killed the last werewolf. Her leg started moving and she constantly chewed on her bottom lip as they drew closer to the pack house. Anabelle gasped when the house came in
SEVENTY-EIGHT"We lost three men, and if we include the library caretaker, Mr Cray...then we have lost four pack members." Alec gave the report to Jaxon and sank back into his seat. "We were able to retrieve the bodies of the warriors, they were horribly scorched because of the fire but hopefully we can give them proper burials.""And the witch, Mr Cray's sister?" Anabelle asked."Well, that is none of our concern. She was banished from the pack for practising dark magic and we are not responsible for her as a pack, we have certain customs to follow as a pack." Alec replied and shrugged at the end.Anabelle wanted to argue with that decision, surely the woman deserved a proper burial too. Despite being a witch she had also been killed by the person that killed the men of Blazepelt. Anabelle wanted to speak out on what she thought but Jaxon held her hand and when she turned to look at him he shook his head. She understood from the look in his eyes that she should not argue, his eyes pl
SEVENTY-SEVEN"Are they actually having sex?" Adam whispered horribly next to Danielle's ear. Danielle turned to look at him and hit his arm."What do you want them to do? It's a man and a woman in the same room and they are mates by the way." Taylor looked up at Adam from the pan. "This day has been quite eventful and despite the time no one knows how long it is going to be night," she added and continued stirring the food that she was preparing. With the Alpha and the Luna in the pack house, she had to include them too in the meal plans, not to forget she had hungry warriors waiting to be fed. "They've been going at it for quite some time now," Adam commented and looked up at the stairs. "You will not be able to get enough of your mate when you find her and then maybe you will understand." Micah joined in the conversation and took out a seat around the kitchen counter. He was finally in clean clothes and had washed off what had happened earlier. "Thank you," Taylor smiled up at M
SEVENTY-SIXAnabelle was crying hysterically and kept on shaking Jaxon's body to get a response from him. Even a twitch of his fingers would have been enough for her. The temperature was getting higher as more trees caught the fire that Amaris had started and the fire circled around them. She could see the others trying to fight against the flames, trying to find a way to get everyone out safely. Two men had come to her and told her that they hard to get out of the place, they wanted to carry Jaxon but she could not let go of his body. She kept crying and wailing because she felt empty without him, if this was how Jaxon had felt when she was unconscious then he was strong. She already felt like she could not live anymore but he had dealt with her going into and out of unconsciousness. She pulled him closer to her and hugged him to her body, his head on her chest. She could hear the beating of his heart but she was so worried because Amaris had cast a spell on him. What if she had don
SEVENTY-FIVEAmaris knew that he could win with one move but he decided to let Anabelle have her fun. In the end, whether he won or "lost" he would continue with his plans, nothing could stop him. He considered this fight as a little treat before the actual meal, it was a way to pass the time as his mind came up with more ways to end Jaxon Ryker and the werewolves. He could defeat Anabelle with his eyes closed, he was her after all. Whatever she knew, he knew...all the knowledge of fighting that she had gained from those two warriors. He was definitely better at fighting compared to her because he had learnt over the years of roaming the mortal world. Anabelle and Amaris had been going at each other for quite some time, and none of them was yet to land a hit. While Anabelle was the one throwing all the attacks, Amaris continued to easily avoid her hits smoothly. It seemed to everyone that was watching that Amaris knew Anabelle's moves more than herself. Amaris was smiling while Anabe
SEVENTY-FOURVera's leg was shaking nonstop, the heel of her shoe making noise and her arms were crossed in front of her arms. Millions of thoughts and possibilities were going through her mind. She knew that if Anabelle had been in her place she would have been the first one to fight for her, she would not be seated and waiting on news as she was. Anabelle would not have been in this room like her, she would have risked everything to save her. She was angry at herself for staying back when her best friend needed her. She should have guessed before that either Jaxon or Alec would try to stop her in some way or another. Alec had called Milo to look after Vera and that meant not letting her out of his sight. Vera could not blame Milo as he sat on the bed eyeing her, he was only carrying out the Beta's order and keeping his mate safe. She was angry at him because he did not understand a word she had said since he locked her in this room. Milo kept on saying that he was doing it in order
SEVENTY-THREEJaxon wanted to plunge his claws into Amaris, he had felt anger before but he was livid. All his life when people angered him there was no Anabelle but now she was there and this person had dared to mess with his mate. He glared at Amaris and growled, a loud and vicious growl filled the air. Amaris only smirked more when he knew that he had angered Jaxon. Everything around him was starting to blur and the only thing he could see was the glowing person in the air, his anger had fully clouded his sense of judgement. He was about to stand to attack when he realised that there was a weight in his arms, he looked down and his anger dissipated when his eyes fell on his mate's beautiful face. Jaxon knew that he could not afford to lose his cool, although he did not trust any other person except for himself to protect his mate he carried her and ushered her into Micah's arms because he was the closest to him. He turned back to face the threat while Micah knew what he had to do
