SHOCKED (THREE)

Rafe rushes to the hospital after he gets a call from Wren about the woman who will be carrying his child. It had been a week since he was discharged from the hospital and Wren finally announced that he had found the right woman to be the mother of his child. He came straight to the hospital even though he was in an important meeting. However the most important thing right now was the heir to his entire estate. Meetings and billions of dollars would be of no use if he didn't have an heir to handle all his assets in the future.

"Where is that woman?"

Rafe went straight into Wren's room and bombarded the man with his cold, stiff questions. He became very impatient and rushed.

Wren snorted in annoyance at Rafe's hasty action. He told Rafe to sit down first before telling him the happy news he had brought.

"Cool down, Rafe. Sit down, there's a lot I want to tell you."

Rafe took his place in one of the chairs in Wren's room. His body was leaning forward, his face showed thick lines of seriousness.

"So where is that woman? I want to see her."

"Relax Rafe, I will definitely take you to see the future mother of your child. But before you see her, you must listen to all the explanations I will give you after this. This explanation will be useful to you as long as you take care of the mother of your child, so you should listen carefully.”

"Make it quick, I don't have much time."

Wren opens a blue folder containing data belonging to the woman who will be carrying Rafe's child. All the data in the map was the data he had gathered this week. Starting from a medical history, a history of fertility, and a history of trauma that may have been experienced by the woman. And after examining her, Wren was sure that she was the right woman to give birth to Rafe Wilder's baby.

"So I've been doing an examination on her this week, and from the results of the examination that I got, this woman is very healthy physically and psychologically. She only has a mild low blood disease which will not have much effect on her if she is pregnant. And most importantly she's still a virgin, she hasn't been touched by any man. So I think she is the perfect woman to be the mother of your son Charleston."

Rafe nodded his head in understanding and began to look serious to hear Wren's further explanation.

“Where did you find that woman? What is her name and what is her family like? Will she just be willing to bear my child?”

Wren smile a little. He was confused and couldn't really answer Rafe's questions, since he didn't completely have the answers to them.

“Actually I only found out her name three days ago after she woke up and passed her critical period. I found her lying on the side of the road in a very pathetic condition. Her face was pale and she almost froze to death in the extreme weather in New York. Her name is Lexie Harlow and she is around twenty."

"Damn you! You want to make me look like an asshole pedophile who impregnated a teenage girl. I don't want that woman to be the mother of my child, just find another woman." Rafe snorted harshly.

Wren furrowed his brows in annoyance. He had expected Rafe's response to be that harsh. But he didn't expect that Rafe would tell him to find another woman at this very moment. Finding a woman with high criteria like Rafe's request is very difficult, and finding Lexie as the only candidate who will give birth to Rafe's child is a miracle that he may never find another time. However, Rafe had to accept Lexie as the mother of his child.

“She is the only woman who meets the criteria you created, so just accept it. After all, young or old girls are the same, the important thing is that they can conceive your child safely until the time of delivery arrives. So just accept that woman. After all, she also has a sweet face and beautiful round eyes, your child will definitely be born with a perfect face inherited from his parents." Wren said half forcefully.

Rafe snorted annoyed with Wren's offer which was quite tempting. Even though he didn't agree with the girl, what Wren said was true, age is not a reason to reject the woman, as long as she can get pregnant and give birth to his child, then everything doesn't matter. Now what he has to make sure is, is the girl willing to bear his child?

“Okay, I guess age doesn't matter. Then is she willing to get pregnant with my child? If you call me to come, the woman must be really willing. I don't accept rejection or false hope," Rafe said curtly.

“I… haven't asked that directly, but it looks like she'll agree. She is a single woman who has no place to live. Yesterday when I came to ask some personal questions, she seemed so uneasy about her life because she didn't have any money to live on. She even begged me to pay for her hospital fees first and she promised to pay it back after she got a job. But I haven't given her any answer yet. I thought you could use the opportunity to get something in return for your kindness. After you pay for her treatment at the hospital, she will be indebted to you and she will be willing to do anything to pay off her debt. How? Isn't that a great idea?”

Wren's words sounded tantalizing. It was like an agreement that would be mutually beneficial to both parties. All right, he'll give it a try.

Rafe rose from his seat and looked at Wren arrogantly.

“I want to see her first. I don't want to buy a cat in a sack." Rafe said firmly

Wren stood and tilted his head toward the door.

"I'll take you to see her now."

Rafe watched Lexie's body silently through the thick glass that separated Lexie's treatment room from the waiting room. Next to him, Wren seemed to be waiting for Rafe's reaction, hoping his best friend wouldn't protest too much after seeing Lexie's condition, because he had given up on finding the right woman for Rafe. After all, before he decided to use Lexie, he had been trying to find a female candidate who really suited Rafe. But unfortunately he couldn't find the right woman for Rafe, and only had Lexie as the only woman he could make the mother of Rafe's future child.

"How, isn't she beautiful and suitable to be the mother of your child?"

"Why is she so thin and pale? Are you sure she can bear my child until the time of delivery?" Rafe asked doubtfully.

Wren snorted in annoyance and immediately answered Rafe's question in a curt tone.

“After you made a fuss about her age, now you want to make a fuss about her size? Oh really, for God's sake that's not a problem at all! The important thing is that she is healthy and can conceive a baby without any problems because I have checked her carefully. She's also in her fertile period right now, so if you want, you can impregnate her today."

Rafe's eyes still could not be separated from Lexie's thin body who was lying weakly on the bed. Even though Wren said she was healthy and past her critical period, why was she sleeping now?

"She didn't open her eyes?"

“I purposely gave her a higher dose of sleeping pills so she could take a rest longer. Do you know what her blood pressure was when I found her a week ago? Just fifty. Even I had a little trouble when I wanted to take a blood sample because the number of blood chips was very small. But today her blood pressure is back to normal because of my healing pattern. So how?"

Wren looked at Rafe's face expectantly to wait for his best friend to nod his head and say if he agreed to use the girl, because he had given up on finding Rafe a woman who was willing to bear his child without demanding anything from Rafe.

“Are you sure that she’s really ready to use? I don't want to have to do the insemination procedure many times. I'm very busy, and maybe next time I don’t have this kind of free time.”

“She was more than ready to inseminate today. Do you want to do it now?”

"Isn't the sooner the better?" Rafe said with a meaningful grin on his face and immediately followed Wren to do a series of tests in the lab.

Lexie opened her eyes slowly and she was immediately surprised by the appearance of a strange man who was sitting arrogantly in the corner of her treatment room with both eyes staring intently at her. She suddenly became nervous and she hid her face under the blanket. But her rough voice boomed loudly and told her to lower the blanket. Lexie had no choice but to obey the stranger's orders.

"Put down your blanket, I want to talk to you Lexie Harlow."

Lexie furrowed her brow in confusion when the man found out her name. Yet she was very sure that she had never met the man. Even after she had spent two weeks in this hospital, she had never seen him before. The only man she had seen so far was Doctor Wren, a handsome and kind doctor who had always treated her like a younger sister.

"Who are you? How come you know my name?” Lexie asked awkwardly

Rafe walked over to Lexie’s gurney and he felt like laughing when he heard the way Lexie spoke that sounded like he’s an alien.

"My name is Rafe Wilder, I am the father of the baby you are growing in your womb now."

“Baby? No way! You liar.”

“But it’s real. I’m not lying to you.”
