CAILA'S POV

I was back in my studio, and the familiar scent of paint and canvas enveloping me had reduced the anxiety I had been having for days.

This was my safe space, where I could escape the stupid drama and toxicity that seemed to follow me everywhere.

I was done with Jace, done with his manipulative games and his condescending attitude. I was done with being treated like a random piece in his twisted game of power and control.

And I was done with my sister Aria, too. Done with the way she looked at me, like I was some kind of monster who had committed the worst crime in the universe. She was supposed to be my rock, my confidante, my supporter but she had turned on me, judging me without even listening to my side of the story.

I had to focus on the one thing that never disappointed me: my art.

There was a slight knock on the door to the studio but I didn't reply. It had been days since anyone bothered to check up on me and I wasn't in a hurry to see anyone yet. I sat down and t

ARIA'S POVThe scene I had seen was leaving rent free in my mind and there was literally nothing I could do to remove it.I had decided to take the day off, hoping to escape the chaos that had been brewing inside me. But even that couldn't calm the storm that raged within. The thought of Lucas's manipulation, how he had used me to get information about Jace, made my blood boil and my temples throb intensely. How could he do that to me? Didn't he care about my feelings? Of course he didn't. It was crazy how obvious it had been. The Lucas I knew never did anything that would inconvenience him but this one had kept coming back and I should have known that it was for an ulterior motive. And Jace... Jace hadn't helped either. He had held my face, his eyes burning with this intensity… an intensity that had left me breathless, and then left without a word. It was as if he had unlocked a door in my mind, and then walked away, leaving me to deal with the chaos that had spilled out.As evenin

CAILA'S POVI was under the shower and the hot water had turned cold because of how long I had stayed in it. Probably two hours or more and I didn't know how it had managed to stay long hot for this long.I was confused. Very confused. Never been as confused as I was right now. This was why I had stayed away from romantic relationships and focused on my art - it made everything very complicated. I had lost all my ability to think straight. I could be in my studio and flashes of what he did to me would fill my thought and I'd turn to butter. Jace was seriously messing with my head and my… my thoughts were totally jumbled. One second he was nice to me, treating me nice like I mean the world to him and the next he was treating me like I worth nothing. Then now he was back and I had fallen for him like I was some handicap, weak in the knees. It had just taken a step and a kiss and I had fallen with reckless abandon. “You've been there for hours, do you want to come out now or you want m

JACE's POVI could see the look on her face when she stared at herself in the mirror after she wore the dress I had gotten for her. As I had suspected, the dress had fitted nicely. It wasn't a tight or short dress but she still managed to pull off the hot look in it. Caila was beautiful and she needed to hear that more but today wasn't for that. I had been postponing the meeting with Darius for several days all because I wanted him to be emotional and under an environment I had control over. So when I had finally given him a location and a time, he had been more than eager to be there. That was the effect Caila had on him. Immediately Caila said his name I could see the look on his face. He was impressed that she remembered him. Even Caila did not know the degree of hold she had over him.Caila turned to look at me with an accusatory stare but I pulled her close. “Be a good girl,” I whispered and kiss her cheek. Darius led us back to where he was sitting. “This place is empty,” C

ARIA'S POVIt was just another Saturday. Another Saturday for me and my friends to hang out at Ristorante Mare e Vino.I had missed seeing them because of this - they couldn't stop assaulting me with questions about Jace and my sister. Rita wasn't helping. Ever since she knew about how Jace had broken Lucas nose with his fist, she had concluded he was a great guy so when I told him about how we rarely spoke to each other, she was nearly pulling out her hair. “Chill Rita,” Jessica cautioned. “She can't beg the man to speak to her.”“Come on! Hear me out!” Rita shouted before bringing her voice to a whisper. “He is literally her husband, they should do more than speak to each other.”“Well… if Aaron stopped speaking to me, I don't know what I'd do,” Lydia stated. “You're in love, your opinions don't matter.” Jessica said as she gave her a side eye and rolled her eyes. “How's your sister taking the whole thing, I know Caila, she's probably suffering in silence,” Jessica added sadly.

JACE's POVI had been so focused on Darius and his AI driven quantum computing project that I had almost forgotten about the unresolved issue of Lucas' and Maya's threat. I was on my way to getting the code through Caila and on my way to making Sharpe Tech the number one company in the tech industry. But first I had to deal with Maya. I was in her office waiting for her. It was on the third floor of a brilliant building. Her father had spent several years building the company, till it was one of the most popular fashion brand in Italy - El Vistoria and when he had died, he had given her everything as she was the only child he had. She was a smart woman and had built on the works of her father and had led to expanding the brand to other parts of Europe and the UK. I knew all investors who had invested in the company or were planning to invest in the company. I knew how she had been evading heavy taxes. That was one thing I prided in. When I found an enemy, I made sure I knew every

ARIA's POVI had finally returned to work after a few days of staying away even though I was taking care of issues from home. I would have said it was fun while it lasted but was anything but fun. It was just a disaster. Jace was making my life hell and Caila was still ignoring me at every chance she got. He had probably told her about Lucas, just to make me look like the hypocrite I was. I had told her to be careful around Jace but I had fallen for Lucas stupid trick. Tricks that were too obvious. I had tried to talk to her but she was making it hard and I was already tired of trying. The office was the only place that had given me some kind of peace. I was replying to some important emails when the door to my office opened. At first I thought it was Jace coming in to ruin my day like he did the last time but it was someone worse - my father. Just when I thought I was going to have a few hours of peace he was coming.I had forgotten the last time I had seen him and I was more than

ARIA'S POVThe house was quiet when I arrived which was perfect for me. All I needed now was to get into my room, have a bath and sleep for several hours. Caila was probably in her studio or she had gone out with Jace again. The talk I had with my father had affected me in several ways, making me doubt myself and my actions. He had gotten a better side of the deal and I just had to live with the bad side. I hadn't seen Jace for a while and I was grateful for that because he wasn't around to speak down on me to feel worse. After I had gotten out of the bathroom, I heard a knock on my door. I had not heard any car arrive and when I passed through Caila's room, the light was turned off. Had someone gone come into the house? The knock continued and my heart raced. “Who's there?” I shouted and waited to get a reply but I got nothing. I rushed to check my bag to call 911 but then I remembered I had left my phone in the kitchen when I went to take water. What was I going to do? I had st

CAILA'S POVI laid in my bed thinking about how easily I had just gotten a trip to Paris and yes, I should have felt bad about how I had just handed the Darius project to Jace. When Jace first introduced me to Darius, I knew something was up, I just didn't know exactly what was up. Then when Darius had gone mad with excitement while explaining some AI driven related concepts, I knew that Jace wasn't introducing me to him for no reason. Jace didn't seem like the type to do things without reason and I had just confirmed it.When we had gotten back from the first dinner we had with Darius, Jace was so happy about what I had done that he fulfilled my dirty wishes because I was his little good girl. Then he had explained everything to me. How he planned to take over the project from Darius company - Dynamo Tech.At that point, I felt bad for Darius. Then I had gone to Darius' company to get as much information about the project as possible.10AM THAT SAME DAYI stood outside in front of

I wasn't surprised when Kai broke into Dynamo Tech systems in barely two hour. This wasn't the first time I had seen him do way harder things, I wasn't too surprised when I was placed on a blacklist to the private party either. But what had shocked me was how I reacted to Jake telling me that he wasn't having sex with his female friend anymore. It shocked me in ways I didn't expect. Like why was I blushing. Then he had raised it up by asking me if I would have said “No,” if he wanted to raise my… who says that?! But then it had affected me to. I couldn't lie that I had not imagined it. Me bent over his large table. I was already scared that he was going to look into my eyes and see my dirty thoughts. That was why I had gotten up to leave because of the intensity of the embarrassment. But he didn't even let me go. He had spinned me on my feet and had moved so close to my lips like wanted to kiss me. A little tremor on the earth and our lips would have collided, that was how close we

JACE'S POV“Are you sure he's the one?” I asked Aria for what might have been the tenth time but this time, she just gave me a side eye but did not reply. But no one could blame me. Kai didn't look like much. He was wearing a shirt and a jeans but the way they hung on his tall frame was off. It looked so weird on some much that it seemed like he never really wore them. He also had a buzz cut but an over grown beard. Then there was the part where he seemed overly excited like he had never seen computers in his life. “Sure about this, Boss?” Frank asked when I told him to let Kai use his computer for a while. I nodded and he finally stood up. Kai sat down in Frank's seat. He looked at all the monitors around him and smiled before he turned his attention back to me. “Aria told me that you needed to hack your way into the system of Dynamo Tech, right?” he asked. “Yes, I wouldn't put it like that but yes I need to get lots of information from their system. JACE'S POVI expected Caila to understand the risks of being involved in something like this but it turns out she didn't and was only interested in throwing a tantrum like a child. She had gotten herself in a dangerous situation and I was trying to take her away from it and she was getting pissed. At least Aria was talking to her to make her understand because I couldn't. I didn't have that patience. And I had other issues to take care of. When I got into the office, I saw Edward sitting grimly on the sofa waiting for me. I instantly knew that something was wrong. He hated being the one to deliver bad news. After greeting me, he told me that he got some pictures that he wanted me to see, then handed an envelope to me and leaving before opening it. Few minutes after he left, I was about to tear open the envelope when Aria walked into the office angrily. “I half expected you to come in with your sister,” I snorted.“You brought her into this mess in the first place!” Aria shouted. ARIA'S POVI had suspected that Caila was going to be having night mares after the incident but I had hoped that it didn't happen, that I was wrong but I wasn't. I had been in bed, thinking about the best way to get Darius to leave his protective bubble when a loud scream pierced through the quiet night and into my thoughts, making my heart skip several beats. I jumped up from my bed and headed to Caila's room because we were the only ones at home apart from the additional security team Jace had placed around the house. When I entered her room, my eyes scanned it to see if someone had broken into her room but when I saw no one I was relieved but the look on Caila's face my heart clench. I knew she had a night mare again. It had happened last night and it had happened again.I had stayed with her for a while to console her but even after consoling her, before I left her room, I could still see the fear in her eyes. Even the marks around her neck was yet to go off completely and it ju

CAILA'S POVI had been scrambling around on the bed and kicking when I jerked awake with a scream. This was the second night this was happening. My whole body was trembling, completely drenched in sweat and tears fell freely from my eyes. I had been back at the restroom with Darius and this time he choked me till I was lying lifeless on the ground, I had tried to move but I couldn't. Then when I woke up, even after a few seconds, I'd try to move but I'd just lay down there, motionless as if a huge weight had been placed on me.Aria bursted into my room her eyes scanning the room and when she saw that there was no threat, she rushed towards me. “Night mare, again?” she asked. I nodded as teardrops fell on the bed. I hated this feeling of repeating the whole incident all over again. It was already depressing that one day that it happened in reality and I didn't have to get into the whole process again. I was tired of this. Tired of it all. “I'm so tired of it. I'm… I'm…” I struggled t

ARIA'S POVI had been sitting down still for hours in Jace lead engineer's office as the system check was going on, but my mind had been spinning with thoughts of what I wanted to do to Darius. To make sure he regretted ever breathing the same air as my sister. Tie his legs up so that his head is facing down till blood pops out of his eyes? Shocking him till death? But none of them involved calling the police. They were going to treat it in a legal way but I didn't care about that. I wanted to take care of him by myself. The confusion at the event hall had caught my attention for a few seconds and that was the only time he needed to slip into his car and drive off before I could call security. I couldn't go home for a whole lot of reasons. There was a little part of my heart that cared about what happened to Jace's company. I didn't care about Jace himself but all his employees that would be on the street if anything happened to the company. That would lead to lots of problems in the

JACE'S POVIt's 2am and I'm in my lead engineer's office, the only sound permeating the air is a soft hum of computers.I've been pacing over the past few hours that I had been there because that was the only thing that I could do. I didn't want to do the system check by myself and had my lead engineer do it. There had to have been an issue because why would the screen at the event hall just show “We are coming”Before it happened, I had been talking to Ethan and he had continued his advice on how I should have approached Darius more aggressively, than giving him time to think. That was when I heard the commotion - guests suddenly whispering and talking loudly. It wasn't even hard to figure out what the problem had been because immediately I turned around, right on the screen, I could see, in very bright and weird colour combinations the words “We are coming.”I would have remembered if I had approved this as part of the slideshow. My eyes moved through the crowd and found my lead e

ARIA'S POVI had gotten back from work early when Caila told me about the program that Jace company had built and how it was going to be launched that day. She told me it was the program she told me about and that she wanted me to be there. But I didn't want to go. Apart from the stress I was feeling, that had a huge influence in increasing my reluctance, there was also the part that I wasn't Jace's wife in the eyes of the public so there wasn't any formal reason for me to go for the event. But me and Caila were now on the same page and I didn't want it to seem like we were still fighting so after several hours after they had left, I had changed my mind. I had to go. After preparing myself and was about leaving, Edward had stepped into the house. “Ma'am, you're home,” he bowed.“It's Aria, not ma'am. I'm not your Boss. I'm not Jace so loose the 'Ma'am'. Is it over?” I asked, surprised to see him back home without Jace and Caila. They were lots of reason that could make them stay outs

CAILA'S POVMy heart pounded loudly in my chest and my pulse hammered away in my ears as I stared at him. The look on his face was very disturbing and I didn't know how to react. I had seen him leave and had forgotten about him to take any precautionary measures. I couldn't think of how to get away and I couldn't even kick straight. This particular restroom was one of the private ones and people rarely came by here and it was too far from the loud event hall and the possibility of anyone hearing me shout was very low. “I told you. I said you'd regret what you did but you thought I was bluffing?” he laughed. “I never bluff, Caila.”“Look, you don't have to hurt me,” I begged. That was the only way I believed I could deescalate the situation. “I know what we did… I'm sorry… I...”“That's it! That is it, Caila! I don't have to do anything but I want to.
