WELCOME PARTY

Mira walked over to the coffee machine when Andrew showed up beside her. 

"I'm sorry for the way I hugged you. It was sudden. You must have been shocked"he said shyly. 

Mira smiled"It's okay. Teammates can do that much for one another, right?"

"You're right. Anyways, I and some others would be throwing you a welcome party since you didn't get one before. Make sure to show up, okay?"

Mira nodded her head with a smile."Okay"

Valentina walked in on them as Andrew turned and left. 

Valentina grabbed a cup as she fixed some coffee for herself. 

"Why did you come back suddenly though? Did boss come to meet you that day?" Valentina asked

Mira furrowed her brows in confusion "What day?"

"The day it rained. He ran out so I thought he was going to apologize to you. Didn't he?"

Mira shook her head."No, he didn't"

"Anyways, I'm glad you are back. I would like us to be close being the only two girls on the team"

Mira laughed. "Me too". As they left the coffee machine and headed back to their desk Mira couldn't help but wonder if Kyle had seen her that day with her sister. 

She stopped in her tracks as she reached her desk. 

"Is something the matter?" Valentina asked. 

"I have to meet the boss. I'm coming"Mira replied before rushing towards his office. She knocked softly on his door. 

"Come in" Kyle ordered as Mira turned on the knob and walked in. 

"Is something the matter?" He asked. 

"Actually.." she dragged unsure of how to ask her question. "I heard you came looking for me the day it rained. Did you see me?"

Kyle looked away from her. "No. I came to the conclusion that I had better things to do that worry about an officer worker. Is that all?"

"Huh?Yes"

"Then please close the door behind you"

Mira closed his door as she left. She sighed in relief. He hadn't seen her with Mirabel. 

She didn't know why she was relieved though. Maybe it was because him confusing her for her sister finally made him pay attention to her. 

She sat down on her desk as she turned over to Valentina. "Is there something I can do"

"Yes. Actually, check this out" Valentina said showing her a file. "I think that.."Mira listened to Valentina carefully and infixed her points where needed. 

Time went by fast and soon it was 7pm. 

"Let's go People"Valentina called out with a clap on her hands. 

"To where?"Mira asked

"Your welcome party, silly". Valentina replied with a smile as she held her hand.

"Should we invite boss?" Dwayne asked looking towards Kyle's office. 

"You know he doesn't really come to all this gatherings plus we know he would say no"Andrew interjected "So let's go". 

They turned around to leave when they encountered people from the fashion team

Each team in the company were at war with eachother although they all worked hard for the benefit of the company's growth. 

"I see you guys have a new colleague. It still doesn't matter, we are still going to win the award of the best department this year" Hazel, the leader of the fashion team  said with crossed arms. 

"Well, enjoy yourselves then"Valentina replied curtly before walking out with her teammates. 

Outside the office, Dwayne clapped for Valentina. "I'm impressed, Val. On a normal day, you would have been pulling out Hazel's hair"

"I have to look normal to Mira here, so I held back"

They got into a nearby restaurant where they placed their orders. 

"Who were those people back there?"Mira asked. 

"The fashion team. The most prideful department in the company. Because their dresses always gets sold out quickly and they get good reviews, they think they are the"IT" team" Valentina downed down a bottle of water. "They just make my blood boil"

Dwayne rubbed Valentina's shoulders. "Relax,we can still do it this year"

Valentina smacked Dwayne's hands off from her shoulders. "You ruined our chances already with that watermelon taste 'Enchantuer' ". 

Their food and wine arrived shortly afterwards as Valentina opened up the wine and filled three glasses. "Welcome to the loosing team, Mira"

Ten minutes later, Valentina could be seen spewing a bunch of rubbish. 

Mira smiled. "She's cute"

"That's Valentina for you" Andrew replied. "Wait here, let me call a cab to take them home"

She nodded her head as Andrew called a cab and dumped Dwayne and Valentina in it. "Take care of them, sir"

The driver nodded his head before driving off. 

Andrew walked back inside the restaurant and faced Mira. "Let's go, I'll take you home"

"That won't be necessary" A strong voice said beside Mira. She turned around to see that it was Kyle. 

"Boss"

"You've had a long day so you need to get going in order to turn up early for work tomorrow" he said to Andrew. "I'll take Miss Messa home"

"Okay sir"Andrew turned to face Mira."Get home safe"

"You too, Andrew". Kyle waited for Andrew to leave before facing Mira. "let's go"

Mira climbed into his car as he became lost in thought. She didn't understand why Kyle had come.

I mean, they'd said he didn't usually turn up for these gatherings so why had he come?  

"How did you know we were here?" Mira asked Kyle. 

"This is where the marketing team always hold their welcoming party" Kyle replied with his eyes on the road. 

"You didn't have to come and drop me home. I could get home just fine by myself"

"But I came"he faced her. "Do you have a problem with that?"

Mira shook her head hurriedly. "No"

In truth, she had a problem with that. She was in the same space with Kyle! Her crush of 10years!. 

Damn, she was starting to feel hot all over so she'd rolled down the window. 

When his car got to her driveway, Mira's eyes widened as she saw Mirabel making out with a stranger out front. 

She gasped. "Is she insane?" She muttered. 

She impulsively placed her hands over Kyle's eyes. "Reverse"

"What?" Kyle asked confused. 

"Back up"

"But I can't see"

"I'll direct you, then" Mira looked behind the car. "Move back"

Kyle slowly backed up his car, leaving her driveway and entering the next street. 

Mira sighed in relief as she removed her hands from his eyes and was met with a cold stare from Kyle. 

"What was that all about?" He asked. 

"Ah-" she stuttered. "My neighbors were making out in the front yard"she bowed head. "I apologize".

She removed the strap of her belt. "Anyways, thank you for driving me home and get home safe". 

She hopped out of his car and ran home where she saw Mirabel bidding the stranger goodbye. 

She dragged Mirabel inside. "Are you insane? Why would you make out Infront of the house?"

Mirabel shyed away. "You saw us?"

"Yes and I'm sure 20 other people did"Mira threw herself down on the couch. "So I'm guessing your date went well?"

Mirabel sat close to her sister. "Yes and I like this guy. I mean, I really do"

Mira rolled her eyes. "That's what you said about the three other guys before him"

"I mean it Mira. When would you be free? I want to introduce you to him"

Mira's eyes brightened up. Her sister must really like this guy. "I'll look forward to clearing my schedule"
