80. GHOST OF THE ABYSS

VINCENT'S POV

I walked back to the table, and for a short while, she didn't retaliate or create any sort of reaction. My goodness, I was so grateful for that. I began to move the papers, but my peace and quiet didn't last for long. Within the blink of an eye, I noticed that she was standing right beside me, and this forced me to drop my pen against the table with frustration.

"Oh my God. What can a man do to just have some peace and quiet, even if it's just for 2 minutes?" I muttered to myself as I looked at the table completely worked up, not knowing what else to do.

"I'm not going to bother you anymore; I just want an answer from you," she said, and I shut my eyes before taking a deep breath. I then tilted my head to look at her. "And what is it?" I asked, and she bit her lip, seeming as though she was thinking of how to answer the question.

"Are you perhaps drifting from me a little bit?" she asked, and I raised my eyebrows, a shocked expression on my face. I thought for a while,
