Devon woke up feeling useless he wanted to get up from his bed and use the restroom but he couldn't.he felt hopeless. The events of the past two days playing over in his head."Man, this sucks big time." He said to himself. If someone had told him he will be stuck in a wheelchair he would have at least left a punch on the person's face.but here he was looking helpless. He got his job taking and all his plans gone. It's been a while he had felt this helpless the last time he had felt like this was five years ago when he lost his aunt Maya. She had been his only parent. When she died he had been devastated. Music had been the only thing to keep him going now he can't even perform.Trying not to dwell too much on his negative thoughts, He tried to at least sit up but he couldn't do that either, the lower part of his body was partially dead. From his waist down felt useless. The reality of his situation dawn on him again and he couldn't keep the tears away he let them drop. Crying wasn't
Laura closed the door and rested her back on it. Her heart was racing so fast. She placed her hand on her chest to calm it down."What happened there, Lau?" She questioned herself."Why did you tell him that?"It's was his fault for saying she had a beautiful smile. She had almost lost her head thereShe moved to her bed and laid face down on it."I must be out of my mind," she said to herself. Before the phone had rung was had been going over his report and the precautions listed in the note sent with him from the hospital.Going by what was written on his injury wasn't that severe but it is nothing to be ignored. More than his injury he needed rest which was why he needed at least three months to heal. His body was exhausted he just doesn't feel it yet. Even if he had not had the accident he might have still ended in the hospital. He should be able to move his legs with the aid of crutches in a few weeks. She sat up and picked up the file she had been going through.Going over the n
Running into Devon's room Laura was surprised to find them both talking normally, she looked at them confused."You want anything, Laura?" Mark asked"No, I thought I heard you scream." She replied trying to catch her breath."Me? Not me Devon did." He disclosed."Oh, I missed your voices, what happened?" She asked sitting down to calm herself."Don't mind him, he tried moving his legs on his own and the pain he felt made him scream," Mark explained."You guys almost gave me a heart attack I thought he was having a late post-surgery compilation."Turning to her patient she scolded him."Dev, I told you before you can't move your legs anyhow, for now, it may rip off and you would have to go back for a restitch which will not be good cuz a restitch is twice as painful as the actual surgery.""I didn't do it deliberately, "He replied scratching his ears. He looked tired even though he just woke up."Did you sleep well last night?"She asked walking close to his bed and examining his pul
Devon stared up at the ceiling in his room, he had been looking at it for more than two hours now. His Nurse abandoned him, that was the only logical conclusion since she has been missing for almost two hours now. She had come back into his room bearing food, made sure he ate every bit of it while watching him with the most beautiful sets of eyes he has ever seen, he could get lost in them, they were prettier than he has ever seen. She let him eat and when he had finished the food she had given him medicine, made sure he was lying properly, and disappeared with the parting words"Make sure to get a rest and by rest I mean sleep." She had said the words so firmly. He had tried to fall asleep but sleep wasn't one of his best friends because he has not closed his eyes for one bit since she left. He was exhausted and trying so hard not to get depressed because of his present situation, but the loneliness he was feeling didn't do anything to help him so he pushed himself gently up to a s
"I am fine," he replied."Are you sure?" She probed."Yes, I am sure, I thought you ran away." He said finally coming to his senses. She laughed and sat down on the seat she had used before."Why would you think that?" she asked"Because you were missing for almost two hours." He responded, eyeing her."Sorry about that I lost my way in the garden." She explained."Oh my God, you could have just called and asked for direction.""Yeah, I know but I didn't bring my phone with me.She said face-palming herself. She was cute. He couldn't help but smile."How did you get back here?"He asked, laughing."Don't laugh, it wasn't funny earlier," she replied."Sorry, my bad." He apologized covering his mouth and trying hard not to laugh."How did I get back? I don't know, all I know is that your garden is beautiful but very big."she complimented and complained."I will take the compliment and leave out the complaint," he answered."How are you feeling now?"She asked, changing the topic."Are
Laura watched her patient and newfound friend sleep, she moved over to his side when she heard his restless breathing and gently tried to smoothen him. When his breath was even again, she moved her hands from his body and stared at his face. He had beautiful sets of brows and perfectly shaped lips, his face in general was a work of art, no wonder he was a celebrity and everyone liked him, who wouldn’t like someone as perfect as he looked? Even with all her reservations she couldn’t even help but admire his physical features that were top notch.Catching herself, she quickly moved back to her seat and sat down picking up the book she had been reading. How she and Devon could get along so well despite just meeting amazed her. Not to get her wrong, she had always been able to build some kind of relationship with her past patients, it comes easy with her, she loved those quality times with her patients and the little tmi they give about themselves always made her day but the fact that Dev
"Yeah, it was but we already knew so we tried to prepare for it though it still hit us bad when she passed on, she had cancer and struggled with it for years."He said sadness filling his eyes, she didn’t know what to say to him so she just kept quiet and kept peeling the carrots"This place used to be so lively but now it only became a vacation home and Devon rarely takes a break so most times it is just me, Percy and Ray. We used to be more than this but the other left either to start a family or to take up new careers."Robert said and the sadness in his voice could not be mistaken."Wow, you must miss the old here a lot.""Yes, I miss it but I am glad you guys came around even though it is because of an unfortunate accident.""I am sorry for bringing back sad memories Robert."She apologized when he looked on with a sad expression."No, don't apologize. It's okay, those memories are nice too, even though they are sad we just have to keep remembering."He replied."Recently, about
The touch of the morning sun on his face and skin felt so nice, he raised his face and allow the sun to bathe him. This was his first time out since he was released from the hospital five days ago. The last four days have been pretty much a routine, he wakes up each morning, clean-up with the aid of his nurse, eats, takes his drugs, and sleeps. The medicine he has been taking was effective cuz he could feel his legs again though they were still in the huge plaster cast, the doctor was scheduled to come around today so by the end of today he might not have the cast on again. Though he wasn't so sure about it.Laura has been an angel, she has been doing everything to make him feel better sometimes when he felt uncomfortable at night she would come around and help him. Talking to her help smoothen him."You are glad you agreed right?"Came the voice he had gotten used to in the last couple of days a voice that he has memorized, she was there when he woke up every morning and also there w
