The loud bang on the door for the umpteenth time that morning made Sophie let out a low groan. Her eyes were screwed shut and she was extremely tired. All she wanted at that moment was to sleep in but with the heavy pound on the door, she knew she had to get her ass up.The pound increased followed by a voice she was very familiar with.Sophie groaned loudly to no one in particular as she gripped the tip of her covers, she flung it off her. As she opened her eyes for the first time that morning, a loud startling scream escaped her at the sight of the blue-eyed man lying on the bed beside her. He had his eyes on her, his lips curved up in a sly smirk that almost had her bolting out of the bed.Almost.“Were you aiming to kill me?” She screamed, her hand flying to her chest to steady her now racing heart. She eyed him as his smile grew.“It's not funny, Ty.” She hissed, a bit annoyed that he wasn't taking her seriously. She almost lost her mind at the sight of him. “I almost lost my god
"So, what do you think?” Harper passed her tablet to Joyce who was seated beside her in a roller chair getting her toenails done. They had done their fingernails earlier and it was all dried up.Joyce's eyes scrutinized the different dresses on the screen, taking time to admire every intricate design of the white dresses and what set them apart from each other. Harper hadn't been joking when she said she was going to take charge and Joyce was going to let her. She needed to get her mind off the scum she still thought about.Although Harper had been secretive, they all knew she was still greatly disturbed by everything. If planning a wedding for her was what she needed, then they could go ahead and do it.“Uhm, I love this,” Joyce muttered, pointing at the lacy dress. When the girls passed her looks, she raised the tablet up for them to see and as soon as their eyes fell on the dresses, they all nodded in affirmation.“That will look impeccable on you, darling.” Sophie complimented, a
"This is so beautiful,” Sophie cooed at her Harper when she stepped out of the change room wearing the floral dress she had picked from the rack.“Yeah. It's not even giving maternity style in any way.” Joyce agreed.“I can be pregnant and still wear it,” Willow also added, looking away from the stack of clothes laying on the space beside her.“Ever seen a hot soon to be mom?” Harper grinned, tossing her hair to the back as she sashayed up front and back. The ladies hyped her up on her parade, smiling and laughing.“You are killing it, sis.” Sophie blew her a kiss before she dashed into the change room with the dress she had selected. The designer dress on her skin made her feel like it was made directly for her. She loved how calming the material felt too. “Guys,” she smiled, getting her friend's attention when she stepped out. Three pairs of eyes landed on her and soon, three replicate smiles stretched out on their faces.“Talk about a hot model,” Harper cooed, earning a laugh from
TylerTyler could have sworn that Sophie was avoiding him. She hadn't stepped in the room last night until it was time to get ready for dinner. At dinner, she played her part for their friends but as soon as dinner ended, she had gone up to her room to rest because she was tired even though he could bet his life on it that when he came in, she had just jumped into bed.It didn't make sense to him but again, nothing made sense to him as long as it came to Sophie. He had tried to ignore how his heart would float at the sight of her or how his whole body would go on fire when she was happy. He had excused it for not being involved with other women over the months but he couldn't be so sure anymore. He wasn't so sure anymore. Now, he was in the room getting ready for the trip Harper had planned for them this fine morning but Sophie was nowhere in sight. She hadn't stepped out of the bathroom since she went in over an hour ago and thirty minutes since the shower stopped running. He wasn't
Harper had scheduled for the group a visit to a book store she had sighted in town. She felt that it would give her time to catch up on her business which her assistant was running and she needed a room to breath. Lately, she had taken to doing whatever would make her happy. Anything that would bring her closer to her child, that would strengthen their bond. She had started to put herself first. Prioritize her happiness over anything else. The ride to the bookstore across the road was smooth and filled with comfortable silence. As soon as the car stopped, they all stepped out, filing into the coffee bookstore.“I can't believe you brought us to a book store, Harps.” Joyce chuckled as they walked into the small yet large space. “Really? What's the next thing we will be getting?” She grumbled.“You just wait and see,” Harper winked. She ignored her friends death stare as she walked away to the area she wanted. She wanted to read every book she can find to prepare her to be a mother. T
Sophie let out a babyish giggle as she slammed the book she had just finished reading on the bedside table. Her smile was twice as wide as it was before she started reading and now she just felt a whole lot better. Humming to the tune of a familiar song, she rolled herself down from the bed and went to the wine cabinet to pour herself a shot. She was relaxed, a lot more than she had been a few days ago. She would like to give credit to Harper who had insisted on taking them to the bookstore where she got into her reading phase again but she wasn't exactly sure. She poured the white wine into a tumbler and took a sip.Exhaling in relief, her eyes whisked around the hotel suite. Tyler was nowhere in sight because he had insisted on using the cafeteria for work today thinking he would get a chance to be with her. Unfortunately, she had bursted his bubble by insisting on staying back to work which she wasn't quite sure of anymore. With her hand tightly holding her phone, she walked over t
Sophie raked a hand into her hair as she wailed. How had she gone from relaxing in a beautiful chair to crying all of a sudden? Her heart ached, the act of betrayal hitting her with full force. She hadn't seen this coming. Harry taking her place temporarily, yes.But she hadn't seen this part of the arrangement coming. How convenient was it for her father to just toss her out of a long-time commitment? All her arrangements and plans for herself? After everything she had done even when he had acutely done well to remind her that she wasn't enough for him?It was infuriating to think about it and Sophie felt like pulling her hair out of her scalp and shoving them in his mouth while he got tied up. She wished her father would burn in hell like all the others and that she would never have to deal with him again. Her phone started to ring and she snapped her gaze toward it. The tears streaming down her face had made her sight a little blurry so she brought the sleeves of her clothes up to
If Sophie had envisioned anything about their vacation, it was that there wouldn't be any head-butting or disagreement. Or even any cause for alarm. But once again, her father had proved her wrong by being one step ahead of her. It was in times like this that she hated her very existence. She couldn't deal with awkwardness and she fought everything to always avoid being thrown into scenes like that. But as she dressed up for dinner that evening, Sophie was almost certain that her evening and night had already been ruined just as her day was ruined. After she left Tyler in the pool, he had taken time before he returned to the room. And when he came in, all he had taken was his laptop and some other work material before he ventured out of the room. Sophie had been stunned but as much as she had regretted her actions that moment, she knew it was the right thing to do.What she had to do.She and Tyler had crossed boundaries they weren't supposed to cross and she knew, she just knew that
