Lara, on the other hand, wasn't nearly as obedient. She thought about denying it, and simply going back to the salon, but she did not know the risks she would be taking. It would be like a shot in the dark.

"After you sir" Alex said, and then opened the door for his boss to pass through.

Aaron came out of the bathroom, with Lara right behind him. She remained close to the man, feeling a huge dose of fear infiltrate her body. However, for some unknown reason, the woman felt protected with Aaron.

It was as if he was made of steel, unable to be pierced.

They made their way to the elevator, passing by people and trying not to attract attention.

Alex was right behind, always looking at the four corners of the party room.

The trio entered the steel cubicle, and went up to the top floor, where Aaron's room was located.

"You have one hour, Alex," Granger stipulated.

"I won't be any longer, sir," the official assured.

The doors opened on the top floor of the Bellagio hotel, and Aaron stepped o

Lara looked at the standing blonde, and the analysis she made was almost instinctive. She was a beautiful girl, as much as the models who were always at Aaron's side. She was in uniform, but then, just then, Lara realized that that uniform wasn't decent enough for an employee. It seemed to be a fantasy, or something. The blonde's breasts were evident, and the length of the piece was certainly shorter than ideal."Is there anything I can do for you, Mr. Granger?" the standing blonde asked, directing a mischievous look at the man in black."No," he was monosyllabic in her response."As far as I am concerned, you can take off those clothes" Joseph took the opportunity to respond."Joseph" Aaron said his friend's name like a reprimand. His tone was cold and measured, but still strong enough to seem like a threat. The blonde, in fact, began to unbutton her small t-shirt. However, all it took was one look from Aaron in her direction for her to give up on the idea.Joseph let out a heavy sig

Lana needed to return to the real world, and just got up. She walked out of the office receiving as much attention as she had upon her entrance. The truth was, Granger did not have time for distractions while she worked. Commanding an empire demanded everything from you, without fail.Aaron looked away from the computer when he saw the large doors to his office open again. His secretary did not make a formal announcement, and the person did not knock on the door before entering. It was Joseph Carter, for no other man would be as petulant as that one."Knocking is polite, Carter," the man in the dark suit behind the desk commented, and expressed no sign of humor in his skeptical speech."I am sorry, I wasn't educated at Harvard""Harvard isn't a daycare," Aaron muttered, looking back at the computer screen.Joseph walked to the chair in front of Granger's desk and sat down. He carried a folder, and placed it on his friend's desk. The truth was that Carter had no manners when he was wit

"Consider done""No. I just wanted to take you home," Aaron said, looking at the woman before him with nothing short of admiration. “I owe you”She looked beautiful in a checkered dress, which hugged her curves and outlined her body in an attractive way. Lara was wearing sneakers, which was a departure from her elegant style, but she seemed to glow, as if her skin was covered in gold. The qualities she had were more than Aaron could conceive."The fact that I know where I am is scary enough," she teased."I am not going to kidnap you""I am very calm now"The conversations between the couple were private. There was no place for third parties in that dialogue. The lovely lady waved to one of the yellow cars in traffic, knowing she should end the call. And when the taxi pulled up in front of her, she bid farewell:"I need time to get organized. See you later, Granger.""I am counting on it."**Los Angeles was naturally illuminated by urban lights. The view from the Bel-Air condominium was absurdly beautiful; part of the skyline was tinged with green, while the other part was composed of several gleaming buildings. No one could say it wasn't one of the best landscapes in the world!Aaron was on the helipad above the Granger mansion, and the strong wind swayed his clothes and hair strands. Beside him, one of his security guards also awaited the family helicopter. And when the aircraft appeared in their sight, Aaron could not understand the accelerated beats of his heart. "He's not coming down for dinner," Aaron informed him.He looked at Lara, and noticed a certain familiarity in her. It was as if the beautiful lady lived in that house, and she was always walking the halls with her enchanting beauty. Aaron enjoyed that moment. It was the first time in his life that he enjoyed having someone close to him.Being alone suddenly felt so empty.Aaron only stopped thinking about Lara when his mother said:"Okay. I will ask for dinner to be served"Dorothy left the dining room, realizing her son needed some privacy. It was the first time she had seen him admire a woman, and not just with greed."She's great" Lara commented."She likes you""I think I would learn a lot from her" the woman said, rambling.Granger approached the beautiful lady. It was inevitable to put your hands on her, feel her soft skin and sweet aroma. Aaron felt like he would lose his brain cells if he spent a few more minutes away from Lara. Aaron took advantage of the proximity to hug Lara. She did not resist, and made the man's arms her refuge. What the woman did not imagine was that she was doing more good for him than for herself. That conversation was all that was needed to break down Aaron's barriers. Although she had told a story, it was he who felt exposed. The man kissed Lara's forehead and held her against him as if he were grasping his last chance to live. He knew their attraction was absurd, but he could not imagine that the connection between their broken souls was even greater. Aaron realized, then, that Lara wasn't the opposite of him, she was exactly the same thing."You will never go through anything like that again, I promise."**Aaron woke up in the middle of the night. At first, the man was puzzled by the scent he smelled, but soon he realized he was holding Lara in his arms. Aaron's mind was cluttered. All Granger wanted was to live his life. Not the life he could have, but the life he wanted to have.Aaron approached Lara. He still felt he was too dirty to touch her, so he just got close enough to smell her perfume. He wished he could have that woman forever, but he knew that wasn't an option, not for him."I promise by all that I am, Little Angel. When things go wrong, you won't be with me. I will be the only one to pay for the secrets I've chosen to keep," Aaron wished he wasn't so rooted in that feeling. He wished he could simply shut it off, as he had done before. He wanted to extinguish the flame in his heart, but he could not. It was too late not to feel, even though it was too dangerous to feel."When you find out who I really am, I hope you've forgotten my name," the man could not resist. Aaron grabbed Lara's hands and brought them to the top of her head. He used just one of her hands to press her wrists against the door. The woman had no immediate reaction. "If you do not let go of me, I am going to scream"Aaron ran the tip of his nose along the expanse of exposed skin on Lara's throat. And despite hating her own reaction, she got goosebumps. In turn, the man placed one of his hands on the woman's waist, and then whispered: "Yes, I bet you are going to scream"Aaron buried his face in the crook of Lara's neck. The smell she gave off was enough to dismantle the man. He slid his nose along her skin, bringing out her already heightened senses. Lara sighed, losing herself more by the second. She tried to free her hands, but the man was countlessly stronger. And when Aaron noticed that lingering shivers ran through the woman's body, he slapped her on the butt. The thin fabric of the robe allowed them both to feel the impact of the touch. She let out a startled but not ent

And so his trip was over.**When Lara woke up, her mind seemed out of tune with the rest of the world. She felt a headache the minute she opened her eyes, and then had to close them.Lara did not remember the night before, and had no idea where she was. The bed beneath him was very soft, and probably very large. The sheets had an exquisite scent, so she assumed the room was a luxury hotel. The beautiful woman decided to open her eyes, although the light that infiltrated the panoramic windows was uncomfortable. She analyzed the landscape that unfolded through the glass and realized that she was on one of the highest floors of the building. Lara stood up with some difficulty, feeling her body soften as her feet touched the floor. The room was impersonal, and the bed took up a large part of it. Lara tried to recognize the details, but nothing made sense in her mind. She remembered being upset after her conversation with Kisha. She remembered traveling with Ana for work and ending up dri

"Think on the bright side. You do not have a woman for life, but you can have one a day" Carter murmured, was ignored and smiled.Aaron decided he would not deal with the mess Joseph made. It was not his obligation to pay attention to those women. He felt claustrophobic when he walked past a woman and she touched him, trying to draw him to her.Aaron turned to his friend, and noticed that he was very pleased with all the available women. "I hope you can handle them all" Granger commented, and received a smile from Joseph in response.Carter did not understand Aaron's personality. He was too closed off for someone who could swim in dollars, for someone who could have whatever he wanted, for someone who could have anyone he wanted.Aaron Granger was unknown even to those who knew him.Aaron walked to one of the apartment's three bedrooms, the closest one. The suite was empty, and he entered it. There was a bed with white sheets, as well as fabric curtains. And despite the mild climate,

"You will rot in a fetid cell, I promise.""Put me in the cell, then" just like the inspector, Aaron knew how to provoke.Granger's blue eyes sparkled with challenge. The way he joked with Spencer whenever he could made the inspector's hatred increase. Aaron knew that the police were far from fully discovering the truth, and he would not be the one to put his cards on the table."Why was Benedict killed?" Spencer asked, leaning forward as he stared at the man before him."Isn't it your job to find out?" Aaron returned it."I have access to a very revealing recording about you. Do you know how close I am to incriminating you?" and then the officer began to bluff, hopeful that he would get something. "This is your last chance to confess the truth, Granger. Because if I have to find out everything that happened that night… I won't be merciful."By now, they were both tired of the chase game. Aaron was fed up with being the villain who ruined someone's day. Spencer was tired of running in

She did not trust herself to speak, the weight of Greyson's words pressing down on her like a suffocating blanket. Without a word, she turned on her heel and fled up the stairs, the echo of her racing footsteps the only sound in the tense silence that hung over the house.Lara stepped into her room, weary from the day's events. Kisha entered and closed the door with a decisive click, her expression expectant. "Do you see how much Greyson cares about me? Granger poured himself a third shot of tequila, hoping he would not be conscious for much longer. There was a side table next to the window, and he used it as support for the bottle. The man lifted the glass to his lips and drank all the flammable liquid as if it were water. Aaron did not mind getting drunk, as he would spend many hours on a flight and would have enough time to recover."You are at rock bottom," Volkov, a mysterious man, commented. He did not respond, not even looking at the other man in his office. Aaron was standing by the office window, while Volkov was seated on the couch on the other side of the same room. Granger observed people walking along the Strip; free people, bound by the commitments they had to fulfill."Are your businesses in America coming to an end?" Aaron inquired."For now, yes."Aaron nodded in agreement, indicating that he had heard Volkov. He poured another alcoholic shot for himself, not caring about the consequences he would face. That day had

Among the countless pleasures in Sin City, the police departments also did not rest. The phones rang incessantly in the station, especially on Saturday mornings. And in the midst of the whirlwind that the department proved to be, Lara Carson walked through the reception, alongside Greyson. She felt out of place in that tumultuous environment, with people moving briskly as they raced against time to fulfill their duties."What are we doing here?" she whispered to her husband."You will find out soon," he said, placing his hand on Lara's lower back and guiding her forward. She felt disgusted by that touch, but she did not pull away.Lara approached the reception desk."Hello," Greyson greeted the receptionist, who was typing rapidly on the keyboard in front of her."Good morning. "For your own good, please understand. A relationship with you would be marked by tragedies."Lara smiled humorlessly, a weak and melancholic smile. Aaron was the worst kind of man she had the pleasure of meeting. A perfect gentleman, capable of laying the world at her feet or pulling the rug out from under them. She knew that sudden breakup was directly related to George. The woman thought about how dirty that family would have to be for Aaron to push her away so unkindly."If you wanted to have a relationship with me, you would. You do not need to explain, Aaron, I understand that I was just a distraction of the moment.""That's ridiculous," he scoffed. The man wanted to be clear, but there were too many gaps that he would not be able to fill. Perhaps an explanation would leave even more doubts."So ridiculous that you offered me a contract to prove that I would never be more than a signature," Lara accused, turning to Aaron again. The disappointment was evident in her gaze, but no
