It would be midnight soon and all those who were waiting to be mated were outside, chattering excitedly around a large bonfire. This was the most beautiful part of the ceremony. People were already making new friends, especially with the opposite sex, hoping that the person they clicked with would be their mate. Sometimes, it did work like that but sometimes, people were mated with whom they least expected. It was exciting both ways.
