CHAPTER FOUR

KACE’S POV

“ What plans? “ Tessa asked, looking confused at both Drake and me as her mom walked to stand beside her.

Before I got the chance to utter a word Drake took long strides to Tessa and confessed love to her. I was flabbergasted. In all my years of living, I didn't know Drake could lie this much.

When did he become this insensitive? This poor girl already lost so much and now Drake is lying to her just to lure her to his bed? What pissed me off the most is that this girl had been his close friend since childhood.

“He is lying, Tessa!! don't believe him!! “ I wanted to tell Tessa but decided to keep my mouth shut. It would be best if she finds out by herself.

I just stood looking at the whole scenario with furrowed brows and saw that Tessa’s mom was looking at Drake warily. Thank goodness at least her mom is sharp in thinking, I thought to myself.

I felt sorry for Tessa, if it were within my powers to help her without this arranged marriage thing I would, but I could only access my wealth fully only when I get married.

“ Get your hands off her Drake “ My dad yelled angrily and I turned to see him and Mom coming out of the house. I guess they heard about the commotion going on here.

“ What the hell do you think you are doing huh? “ Mom asked angrily.

“ Mom, Dad, how can you guys do this to me? You know Tessa loves me. Why don't you arrange a marriage between me and her instead, why does it have to be Kace who gets her in the end, huh? I love her!! I'm the one who loves her so much!! “ Drake said with fake tears rolling down his eyes.

Oh my!! I didn't know Drake could act this well, all this act just so he would have sex with her. Wow.

The poor girl just froze all the while and after Drake just confronted my parents and confessed his love to her she shook her head vigorously with tears beginning to fall down her eyes as she turned her back and ran out of our manor.

“ Tessa wait!! “ Mrs. Montgomery called out to her daughter but Tessa had already run out of our manor.

“ See what you caused? You better stop this nonsense you want to start, she will get married to your brother and that is final. “ My dad said and I nodded in agreement to what my dad said.

“ Adelle please come in, “ My mom said to Tessa’s mom and walked over to use her hands and guided her in.

Drake just stood on the spot where he was, glaring at us all while we all went into the house, but before I entered I gave him a disappointed look before following my parents and Tessa’s mom inside.

We all sat in our guest parlor before my mom began to speak, “ So what brings you and Tessa to our humble abode? “ she asked and I struggled not to roll my eyes at her.

“ Tessa wanted to ask you when the signing of the marriage certificate would take place before Drake started saying all those things and so she ran. I know she is indecisive now, but I'm sure she'll come to her senses. She's just overly emotional right now and we all seated here right now know why she is “ Mrs. Montgomery said.

“ It's alright we understand, “ My mom said with a smile.

“ How have you and Tessa been coping? “ My dad asked Mrs. Montogomery while I just sat listening and observing everything that was going on.

“ The bank took away all our cars. We had to come in a Cab, “ Mr. Montgomery said sadly.

“ I'm sorry about that Adelle, from today Kace would pick up and drop her off school pending when we pay the bank okay? “ My dad answered Mr. Montgomery who nodded her head.

“ Cheer up Adelle, let's go to the garden and have a chat. It's been a while since we talked about things, “ my mom said and winked at Tessa’s mom which made her smile. They left leaving my dad and me sitting.

“ But why Dad? “ I asked him the question I have been wanting to ask since this whole ordeal started. I didn't have the chance to ask him until now because each time I met him he was always with Mom, and Mom had a great influence on him.

“ Son it's for your good, your mom wants you to marry from their family because we have been friends with Tessa's parents since college days. “ my dad said with a sad smile on his face.

“ Then why not just help rather than putting marriage as the price they have to pay for you helping them, “ I asked him looking displeased.

“ I was going to help them anyways because of the relationship we have with their family, but your mom brought an idea that as the first son you should get married to Tessa so our companies would be merged with theirs and that's a good idea “ Dad explained.

“ Look son, I know you haven't always gotten along with Tessa but you have to just try to get along with her and with time you'll grow to love her, Tessa is a sweet and lively girl. If not for our sake for Tessa's sake the poor girl is going through a lot, please “ My dad urged me.

“ Alright Dad I'll try, “ I said and he smiled. We switched to business talks but when I began tired, I said good night to my dad seeing that it was already dark and intended to go upstairs to my room to sleep.

“ Alright, good night Mark and Kace. I'll be on my way now “ Tessa's mom said while standing at the door with my mom standing beside her, which made me stop midway.

“ Alright Goodnight Ma “ I answered with the best and most comforting smile I could give.

“ Alright, Adelle, I hope my driver is the one dropping you off at home. “ My dad asked.

“ Yes he is thank you and Kace, don't forget to come pick up Tessa early tomorrow she hates going to school late, “ She said and winked before walking away with my mom accompanying her.

Wait, did Tessa’s mom just wink at me? Wow! I couldn't help the smile that crawled onto my face, I had to suppress it because that smile wanted to turn into a grin, and why the fuck was I even reacting this way.

My Dad left his room and when I was walking towards the stair Drake from nowhere came to stand in my front.

“ You’ll never have. Not while I live “ he said and left. I just rolled my eyes at his childishness and went straight to my room. I sat on my bed with my laptop after taking my bath to check some business mail but dozed off to sleep.
