As they stepped into the Lui mansion, Sarah felt a mix of apprehension and gratitude towards Martin. Her hand was now sewn and covered with bandage. She is so grateful for his inititave to help and genuine concern.
She looks at him, touched by his caring nature, and whispered, "Thank you for everything, Martin."
Martin smiled warmly, "Don't mention it, Sarah. I'll always be here for you. I was surprised how Adelle treated you. How could Huifen let you wear plain second hand clothes and scrub the floor?"
"You have been nice to me, Martin, and I'm grateful for that. But, I'm just an orphan whose adopted mother got bankcrupt. I pity my Mama Daisy, they said she took her own life because of she got swindeled by business partners and her career turned sour. I'm fortunate enough for uncle Alfred to let me have a shelter and food. And for buying off my mother's business legacy."
"What?! Is that what they told you all these years?" Martin got irritated with what he is hearing.
She was stunned on how Martin reacted with what she said."What do you mean?"
Martin let out a heavy sigh, "I just couldn't believe the lies they fed you. We will deal with that when my dad comes home." There was a hint of anger in his voice. And his expression is serious and as if he wants to hit someone.
As they walk into the living room, they were met with a tense atmosphere. Mr. Alfred Lui and Huifen were seated, their faces strained with worry and confusion. Adelle, with tear-stained cheeks, sat beside them, her emotions visibly in turmoil. And at the same time, Atty. Richard Wane looks at his son, waiting for him to say something.
Sarah's heart sank, realizing that her presence seemed to have caused a family crisis.
She hesitated but decided to speak up, addressing Mr. Lui, "I'm sorry for the commotion, Mr. Lui. It was an accident, and Martin took care of everything. I promise to be more careful in the future."
Martin's father, Richard Wane, was the lawyer of her Mama Daisy.
He is a man of wisdom and compassion, speaks gently, "It's not just about the accident, Sarah. Martin called me how you've been treated here in your own house. And I must say, I'm deeply disappointed in Huifen and Adelle's behavior towards you. I thought, all along everything is doing well for you Sarah."
Huifen tried to interject, but Mr. Wane held up his hand, silencing her.
"No, Huifen, this needs to be addressed. It's clear that Sarah has been mistreated and overlooked, and that's not how family treats one another."
He walks towards Sarah and looks at her from head to feet. "Perhaps you never told Sarah of her rights, which I can see, her clothing and footwwear are not as fine as you wrote in your court reports, Huifen. You must have edited the photos you sent to me."
Sarah was shocked with Martin's father. She never thought there was a court agreement or reports which should be submitted in court. So, all along, she was deceived by her aunt and even her uncle. It would be impossible for him not to know it.
"Mr. Wane, but I never knew about these things." Sarah butts in with a tone of surprise evident on her voice.
"I'm sorry Sarah. I have trusted your uncle and his wife so much, and I never heard you complained not even once. You must know, you are a very rich young lady."
Huifen sniffled, "But she's not even our blood relation, she's just an adopted girl. Why are you defending her!?"
Mr. Wane's voice grew stern, "Huifen, don't ever think of someone as 'just an adopted girl.' Sarah is part of your family, and she deserves respect and love just like anyone else. Her background doesn't define her worth. And she is the lawful daughter of Daisy, which means she is the rightful heiress."
Mr. Wane threw the folders right in front of the Lui couple. "Here's the agreement you signed ten years ago. You have misused her money with your gambling's and excessive way of life through all the years you were here.."
Sarah was taken aback by Mr. Wane's revelations, and she felt tears welling up again, this time not from pain but from the overwhelming emotions stirring within her.
Mr. Lui, who had remained silent until now, finally spoke up, "Richard, I must apologize for my wife's behavior and for how we've treated Sarah. She is right; we've allowed ourselves to forget that she's family too. And from now on, we will give what is due to her."
Huifen seemed resentful and expresses her disapproval of her husband's apology. "You're impossible Alfred! You've worked so hard for the company. And you are Daisy's blood-brother! I won't let this happen. We will make an appeal to the higher court since there is no Last Will and Testament left by Daisy."
Mr. Wane laughs at Huifen. "You must know the extent of your rights. And for your information, when Daisy died, her company has already attained great success. She never had a loan because her career as an actress was at its peak and her businesses were flourishing."
His attention shifts to Alfred, "You're only at the company to represent Sarah, since she's a minor. Everyone in the company knows that, even without you, the board members are very much capable to run the company. And with Sarah's wit and intelligence as reflected in her academic records, I'm sure she would learn to manage everything well."
Sarah found her voice, "I appreciate your words, Mr. Lui. But I think it's best for me to leave after my graduation. I don't want to cause any more trouble."
Martin, who had been standing by Sarah's side, interjected, "Sarah, you don't have to leave. This villa is your home. Your uncle and his family will be leaving this house."
Mr. Wane nodded in agreement, "Martin is right. We won't allow you to be mistreated anymore. You have the right over your inheritance, and we'll make sure you get what is rightfully yours."
Huifen thought of her last card on check and glances at her daughter, who hands her an envelop.
She looks at Mr. Wane before he could continue dishing out about Sarah's inheritance. "Mr. Wane you are a lawyer, right? And you know that my daughter is technically still a minor."
Mr. Wane gave her a puzzling look, "Huifen, do not divert our conversation!"
"Just answer my question, Mr. Wane before we continue." Huifen said with a strained voice.
"What do you exactly mean by that?"
Huifen laughs, "Martin spent a night with my daughter and got her pregnant. In the eyes of law, she is still a child."
Everyone in the room are all eyes on Martin.
But Martin laughs softly, "So, Adelle, this is how you think you can get me. Why don't you tell everyone here how I helped you that night?"
Mr. Lui budges in, "Martin all I want to know, if you truly had sex with my daughter. Your answer should only be yes or no."
"Yes! Now, Mr. Lui, does that satisfy you?" Martin mockingly replies.
Alfred reacted by delivering a forceful punch to Martin's face. "I'll take legal action against you for harming my daughter!"
With bloodied and bruised lips, Martin smirked. "So, Alfred and Huifen, you will take a legal action on me to secure your rights on Sarah's wealth. "
Adelle gets irritated with how Martin treats heer to him, "Don't talk that way to my parents!"
Martin didn't even mind Adelle's words, "Mr. Lui, watch want I've just sent you, and you'll understand what kind of daughter you have." He takes out his phone from his pocket then sends a file in their e-mails.
"Martin, please don't!" Adelle pleaded, trying to intervene.
"Adelle, you wanted chaos, right? You asked for this scenario to happen. It's time they'll know what you are up to, when you go out at night. You are nothing but an addict and a nympho."
Their cellphones buzzed...
"Oh, my God!" gasps Mr. Wane.
Sarah was also shocked watching the video.
She didn't imagine her cousin would do such scandal, with her private parts all over the screen. Since she could not take it much longer, she turned off her phone.
Alfred walked towards her daughter and slapped her twice. "You disgraced yourself and your family. If this goes viral, you'll be nothing!"
Adelle was visibly upset, and tears welled up in her eyes. "I'm sorry, Dad," she choked out. "I didn't mean for things to turn out this way."
Huifen was unable to bear what she witnessed, let out a heartbreaking scream, "Noooohhh!"
Her emotions overwhelmed her, and she felt a deep sense of shock and distress at the situation.
Then, she went to shake her daughter's shoulders, "Tell me, this isn't you, tell me she just looks like you?"
Martin responds, "How could it be not her, look at the guys she's making out with, most of them are her spoiled brat classmates and she even added wanton girls to spice up her carnal fantasies. Look at them doing all sorts to her."
"Mom, I know it was a mistake, and I feel awful about it. Please believe me, this isn't what I want it to be." Adelle exclaimed, while crying.
Huifen continues to shake her daughter, "Adelle, who is the father among them?" the mother questioned anxiously.
"Mom, I don't know. I really don't know. Please forgive me," Adelle responded, her voice filled with uncertainty and remorse.
"You turned yourself into a whore!" Her mother was overcome with emotion, sobbing uncontrollably.
In her anguish, she kicked off her Louboutin shoes and tore her pearls from her neck. The tears ruined her makeup as she found herself sitting on the floor, feeling utterly devastated, much like a child who had been denied of a piece of candy.
"Your daughter is addicted to fentanyl and made out with men and women in the room. They were eight teenage guys and three girl minors like her. It got into media streaming, I immediately contacted the site where it was uploaded and paid for it.
I took her to my pad since she was high with drugs, she couldn't control her urges..."
Adelle shouted, "Stop it Martin!"
But Martin continues, "She was about to jump from the building, so I gave in to her carnal needs. Frankly, Mr. Alfred Lui, I felt so dirty that time because of the number of guys and girls she had made out with. You must know I used condom, so there's no way I would get her pregnant. And it only happened once."
Mr. Lui, removed his glasses, and slaps her daughter again, "How many times have you've gone to that indecent bars with your friends?"
Then he turns his attention to his wife, "I'm totally fed up Huifen, take Adelle with you after her birthday ball and leave!"
Mr. Wane looks at everyone. He lets out a heavy sigh and thought of settling everything once and for all, "Martin, Alfred let's go to the study room and we shall talk. Sarah, go to your room and take a rest."
Huifen and Adelle were left at the living room. Adelle crying, Huifen furious with what her daughter did and slaps her, too. "How could you be so tainted!"
"Mom, please forgive me. I couldn't control myself sometimes, she said crying.
"Who is the father," Huifen asks while still in shock.
"I do not know, Mom! I honestly do not know! If you want, I'll just end my life now!"
She looks at her daughter and couldn't believe this is happening to her. She is so young, much younger compared to her, when she had her. "Adelle, everything was given to you, you had options, I never had that before!"
Torn between her fury and her pity for her daughter. She hugs her and they cried together.
"Mom, please, tell me, what should I do now."
"We'll think of something better," she comforts her daughter.
How hateful she was for her daughter's promiscuity! But she was like that, too, during her younger years. She lost her virginity at 14, and since then, she slept with men of different ages.
But it was poverty that forced her to be that way. Her daughter now has everything she needs and wants, which she never had any of what Adelle have now. There should never be a reason for her to whore around.
All she could do is to blame it all to Sarah. Her daughter should haven't suffered such shame in front of her own father and future father-in-law Mr. Richard Wane, if it weren't for her presence in their lives.
Her hatred towards Sarah is growing stronger. She thoguht of something, and suddenly smiles wickedly for Sarah doesn't know what exactly is instored for her.
"Come here my, baby." She hugs her daughter who's crying profusely. Bawling like a baby in her arms.
Sarah was descending the stairs when she overheard her aunt's voice, engaged in a conversation with her cousin. There was a hint of annoyance in her aunt's tone. Her cousin's bedroom door was slightly ajar, not properly closed by her aunt Huifen. Perhaps she thought that since it was a Saturday, everyone would be busy downstairs and no one would have the courage to listen to their conversation, as all the household staff were afraid of Huifen's wrath. She recalled what happened the previous night, and it made her cringe. She didn't want to dwell on those thoughts because she couldn't accept that her cousin was capable of such promiscuity. She flinched when someone tapped her shoulder. It was Mira, who, like her, had been eavesdropping. In a hushed tone, Mira asked, "Sarah, I heard some gossip among the maids last night. They said your cousin is involved in a scandal. Is it true?""Shhh... Keep your voice down, Mira. Aunt Huifen might hear us. We should stop eavesdropping," Sarah replie
Sarah couldn't shake the feeling of being watched by the bulky men at the back. She tried to remain composed, focusing on her prayers and trying not to mind their lingering gazes. Her thoughts kept drifting to her bandaged palm, a reminder of the previous day's accident, but she tried to push the pain aside and concentrate on the service."Am I in a serious trouble?" she asks herself. She looks at her palm with bandage. It still hurts but not so much as compared with yesterday.Glancing sideways, she noticed that the men were still staring at her, observing her every move. Their intense gaze made her uncomfortable, and she couldn't help but wonder why they were so fixated on her.As the church service progresses, the woman and the little girl beside Sarah moved to the front row, leaving her alone with the mysterious man in the dark suit and tinted glasses. Her heart raced as she noticed a ring on his left ring finger that bore a striking resemblance to her Mama Daisy's precious heirloo
Everyone is busy. And that includes the one who brought pandemonium to her room.Sarah glanced once more at her room. Her meager clothes were all scattered on the floor. Her laptop smashed and her books wrinkled and some were torn into pieces."My goodness! What happened here?!" The first thing her eyes searched is her photo with her Mama Daisy. She cried, with her hands covering her mouth to stop herself from producing sound for she might cry really loud. Who wouldn't be?!Her hands tremble as she picks the photo with the frame badly destroyed. Her room was totally obliterated.Who could have done such injustice to her? This is supposed to be her home, where she would feel safe and cared for. But now, it was a total opposite. The one who came in her room, is evidently looking for something, which she has no idea.It was really a wise decision she made when she was barely 12 years old to let Mira keep all the photo albums, jewelries and memorabilia her Mama Daisy left her. Additionally
While still perched on the thick branch at the top of the century-old oak tree, Sarah could only hope for a turn of events in her favor.Trust was scarce within her so-called family, leaving her uncertain even about her uncle's actions. With a mansion full of potential dangers, she clung to the hope that something positive would come her way.A lightbulb of an idea sparked in her mind—she should call her best friend, Emily.Speaking softly to avoid attracting attention from the men in her room just meters away from her hiding spot, Sarah dialed Emily's number."Em... Hello," she whispered, "I'm on a branch of an oak tree, overlooking my room.""Hey! Lovely head, what's up?" Emily mimicked a commercial, not fully grasping the seriousness of the situation."This is serious, Em. Masked men came to my room, ransacked everything, and this morning, I was chased by men who look like mercenaries," Sarah explained, trying to catch her breath amid her nervousness."OMG! Should I call the police?
"Oh, my baby!" cried Mira in distress."Quick, Peter, we have to carry her. Let's take her to the downstairs garage. We need to be very careful. I'll gather some of her things and pack mine as well. We're leaving tonight." she kneels and hugs Sarah.Peter gently picks up Sarah, being cautious not to attract attention. "We mustn't draw any suspicion. Let's check if there are people outside and use the fire escape."Mira nods in agreement, giving her OK sign. They stealthily move through the hall, hiding behind the large plants and furniture whenever someone passed by."Hey, Jane, have you seen Mira?" asked another maid who was dressed modestly for the party."No, besides Madame Huifen hired a lot of people to work tonight because she wants first-class service," Jane replied while dabbing her makeup."At least we get to take part in the back. Perhaps Mira has her own date," the other maid mocked, and they all laughed.Mira fumed with frustration. "Oh, those creeps. Wait till I get my han
At the debutante's party, anticipation builts as the Toast Master's voice resonated through the hall, announcing the moment everyone had been eagerly waiting for.Martin flashes a celebrity smile to everyone including to Adelle, "Sweetie, you have to enjoy my arms, while your debut ball lasts." He approaches her and angles out his right left arm to his princess.Adelle, didn't get his exact point but she smiles at him anyway. She thoughts, what matters, one of the most sought after rich bachelors in Shanghai is here with him. "I'm glad you came for me, thank you."Martin replies while waving at the guests, "Don't imagine things my dear.""Really? Obviously, you are enjoying every moment with me, as you did that night before." She flashes her sweetest smile, too, and leans on his shoulders for a perfect shot."Ladies and gentlemen, esteemed guests of the marvelous village, please gather around as we proudly present the debutante of the year, the radiant Ms. Adelle Wei Lui. Peter all tied up turns to Mira, and both of them wonder. Then they saw two guys helping them out… Then another two came.A man in full-combat flashes his light, "You're safe now. We'll get you the medical attention you need."Mira relieve and let out a sigh, "Thank you, thank you so much!Peter grateful, "You arrived just in time.""Help, my baby, Please, help Sarah." Mira cries incessantly to the two men in full battle gear.Peter tells them, "Please, save her, They took here at the cabin."The two looks at each other and the other one calls someone to direct them at the cabin.Inside the dusty old cabin…"Well, what do we have here?" She sneers at Sarah all tied up in a chair."For starters, this won't take us long, Let's do something about your face, shall we?!" Huifen laughs at the poor girl the removes the cloth inside her mouth. She wears on iron knuckles and delivers menacing punches on Sarah, each on her eyes twice, then two punches again that cut through her slender sculpted
"This is a private property, you are causing distress! I own this place!" Huifen shouts at them.A uniformed man seizes her hands and pinned her down, "Lady, stop what you are doing. Our boss is going to punish you terribly,""I am the boss here, dumb-ass! Ouch! My gown you will rip it off. This costs millions!"Then the lights were on at the cabin. Huifen saw the badly beaten Sarah being helped by uniformed men."That girl is an outlaw, she stole from me so she is beaten, so badly. Don't help her, instead punish her more!" she tells them like a mad woman.Sarah's feet were untied from the chair by the uniformed men. "Thank you, she said as she is bleeding. In a very soft almost whispering voice she asked, "Did you see my friends in the woods? Please, help them.""Young Lady Master, they are safe now.""Chairman Feng, we're approaching the location," the pilot informed him. The sight of the sprawling estate that belongs to Ms. Daisy Zang Lui filled Chairman Feng with a mix of anxiety a
For three long and painful days, William had barricaded himself from the outside world. The heartache of Sarah's unexplained departure had driven him to isolate himself at the mansion’s bar, leaving him in a state of emotional turmoil. The once-bustling world around him had become a distant and hazy backdrop to his profound despair.William took another glass of scotch, wincing as he felt the effects of the excessive alcohol consumption. His stomach rebelled with an acid reflux, a painful reminder of his self-destructive behavior. In this troubled state, his loyal bodyguards, Tony and James, entered the room, concern etched on their faces. "Chairman Xu, you need to take care of yourself," Tony implored. "This isn't the way to cope with your emotions."James nodded in agreement, adding, "We've been looking for her diligently. We'll find her, but you need to regain control."William's voice was hoarse as he responded, "I can't... I can't think of anything else but her. I need her back."
The cold water was biting, but Sarah didn’t have time to feel it. She swam as fast as her tired body would allow, pushing through the ache in her muscles and the sharp sting of her wounds. The shouting from the men behind her was getting closer, bullets slicing through the air, some splashing into the lake around her.She heard the familiar “whup... whup… whup…” of the helicopter’s blades overhead, growing louder. Sarah dared to look up, water dripping from her hair into her eyes. The helicopter was hovering lower now, just above the water, the downdraft creating ripples across the surface."SARAH!" her uncle’s voice cut through the chaos. "GRAB THE LADDER!"She saw it—metal steps descending from the helicopter, swinging just above the water’s surface. The current made it difficult to get close, but she fought against it, using every last bit of her strength. Her uncle’s men were firing back at Benjie Lao’s goons, the air filled with the sound of gunfire. They were out in the open, hol
"What a filth!" She couldn't contain her disgust as she gagged, the stench of the tunnel overwhelming her senses. She stumbled, her stomach turning, and finally, the inevitable happened. She threw up, her body revolted against the foul odor.As soon as she could, she crawled out of the tunnel, her skirt torn and dirty. The sewer led her to a small, dark hole, which she squeezed through, emerging into a dense, unfamiliar forest."God, I'm still on Lao's property," she groaned, pulling out her phone and dialing her uncle Vincent's number. "Uncle, please help me. I'm in Shanghai, at Lao's mansion.""Sarah?! Oh, God, I've been looking for you! Where are you?""I'm in the woods. I escaped through the sewers.""Hang on. I'll be there with my men immediately. Go and hide!""Okay, please hurry." As she spoke, she looked up and saw towering pine trees. The sound of voices carried through the air, a chilling reminder of her danger. She knew she had to move, or she'd be found."I need to climb th

Glancing at the wall clock, Sarah noticed it was 6:35 AM. Despite their hunger, they eat in silence, sitting across from each other at the table. She ate quickly, knowing that later that afternoon was her grandfather’s funeral. Then, Grayson's phone rang, and he excused himself to answer the call. The conversation that followed left a sense of tension hanging in the air. Sarah couldn't help but overhear parts of it, and it piqued her curiosity even further.Grayson received the call someone mysterious, and his expression turned solemn as he listened to the authoritative voice on the other end of the line. "Bring Sarah back to Shanghai," those words were firm, and his tone conveyed the weight of his authority. The command was clear and left no room for negotiation. Grayson understood that he needed to follow these instructions, and the complexities of their situation seemed to deepen. With a nod, he replied, "Understood, Chairman. I will make the necessary arrangements.""Avoid getting
Grayson woke early and headed to the kitchen to prepare breakfast himself. As he chopped onions, his phone rang—it was his grandfather, Chairman Benjie Lao. Grayson knew immediately that an early morning call like this meant trouble, something urgent and possibly deadly. His stomach tightened as he answered."Grandpa, I’m guessing you’ve got something important to tell me," Grayson says, his voice steady despite his unease. He knew his grandfather well enough to expect the worst."You’re a crazy brat! Deliver Sarah to me!" Benjie’s voice thundered through the phone, punctuated by the loud stomp of his cane. "Don’t defy me, fool. I know you bedded her without consent. Love will take you nowhere. Marry her, then kill her immediately!" His tone left no room for misinterpretation.Grayson's jaw clenched. His eyes darkened as memories of his childhood flashed in his mind—being forced to train with his father's men, getting shot, and enduring a samurai’s blade across his back. The thought of
As they returned to the mansion after their half-day excursion in Nanchang city, Grayson and Sarah found themselves in high spirits as if they have no problems at all. The connection between them had deepened, and curiosity about each other's worlds had grown. The mansion, with its grandeur, was a stark contrast to the bustling streets of the city they had just explored. They decided to plunge into the pool while still in their clothes on, laughter bubbling up between them like the water splashing around. The coolness of the water was a delightful contrast to the heat of their bodies, and they felt carefree, like kids again, giggling as they splashed each other playfully.“Come on, you can’t be scared of a little water!” he teased, his eyes sparkling with mischief as he dunked her lightly, pulling her under for a brief moment before she resurfaced, gasping and laughing.“I’ll get you for that!” she declared, her cheeks flushed with exhilaration. With a quick flick of her wrist, she sen
Sarah's eyes flutter open as she senses a gentle touch against her cheeks. Her heart quickens, and even before she fully comprehends what's happening, the undeniable presence of another person lingers before her. She lies still, her senses on high alert, trying to discern who could be sharing this intimate space with her in the dark.As Sarah slowly opened her eyes and beheld Grayson's impassive face hovering over her, her heart raced, and she instinctively shielded her nearly bare bosom from the gossamer fabric of her silk nightgown. She sat up, her nerves on edge. "Grayson, what a surprise," she managed to utter, attempting to conceal her vulnerability."Well, tomorrow is your Grandpa's burial, and I must take you there," Grayson stated, his emotions turbulent as he observed Sarah's vulnerable yet alluring state. "You have a natural beauty that drives me crazy," he added, reaching out to caress her hair before standing. "It's almost seven. I suppose we should have breakfast together.
