Tanya's POV

"Calm down and speak slowly, mother," I said, trying to steady her voice.

"I can't calm down, Tanya! I can't!" she screamed, her voice loud and cracked.

I could tell she was crying, but I had no idea why. She was rambling, saying things that didn't make sense.

"Mother, I'm close to the house, and I'm driving," I said.

"Then park your fucking car!" she screamed at the top of her lungs.

I sighed heavily, steering the car toward a parking spot close to the house. I parked and took a deep breath.

"Mother, please calm down and tell me what happened," I said softly.

"I don't know what's going on, but August... Oh my God," she cried loudly.

"What did he do?" I asked, my heart racing.

"I went to check on him after he wouldn’t pick up my calls. I was so worried. When I got there and saw him, I hugged him—maybe I shouldn’t have," she said, her voice trembling.

"He didn’t hug me back," she whispered, and I frowned.

"That’s why you’re crying?" I asked, confused.
