JASMINE’S POV
"No secrets; remember your pinky swear?" He scanned my face for any reactions. “Common, honey.” I sighed. "Like I said, it's nothing. What could possibly be wrong?” I threw the question back at him. "Anything..." He shrugged. "And in this case, I’m sure something is up.” He doesn't change his foot. I exhaled and groaned loudly, so he knew how frustrating this was getting.I thought I was gaining his sympathy until he chuckled and went silent. That's all?! I frowned. “Asher, you're beating yourself up for nothing.” I squeezed his arms roughly."I’m fine.” I insisted. “You ain't fine, and we both know it.” His brows furrowed. Gush! Could this be any easier? For the umpteenth time, I told him I was fine, but he just wouldn't indulge me. And the more I didn't budge, the more he didn't go weak on his stance. He let go of my waist and started for the centre table. “Where are you going? This is the way to the kitchen, remember?” I rolled my eyes. He ignored me and kept up with the act. This was weird—him walking out on me and acting up. I kept silent and watched him closely. He picked up his phone and flipped through the sky. "What are you doing?" I scoffed. "You're joking, right?” I licked my parched lips. "This has to be the biggest joke of the century.” "Sadly, it's not. It would interest you to know that I'm pulling a call across to Liam; he should have a fine grasp. "Asher, seriously?” I lost control of my emotions. "You're calling Liam to report me as a kindergartener? Or to squeeze out words from him because he happened to work in the same space as myself?” He stopped scrolling through his phone and looked at me.I only called him by his first name when I was either serious or riled up. Right now, I am both riled up and chaotic. A bad mix of both. He looked shocked. He never saw my outburst coming. I feel like a dumb person merely looming over him. I did scare the shit out of him. "I’m sorry,” I whispered, wide-eyed. He merely nodded, still clearly shaken. “Was it necessary?” I said it calmly and turned to leave. “Fine.” He called after me. "We shouldn't fight over trivial things like this." I stopped on my spot, but I still gave him my back. "Please." He said this as he approached me. I smiled like I had had another successful surgery.Another feather to my hat. "You know I only care about you.” Asher doesn't stop in his act of conviction. “I’m just going to freshen up.” I didn't allow us to visit the issue again. "Hey." He held my arm and turned me to face him slowly. He wrapped me up in a warm hug. "This should ease the tension for now." I smiled, enjoying every moment of his pampering. “Am I forgiven?” His hands rested on the small of my back. I swallowed dryly. I should be the one seeking his forgiveness after keeping such a secret from him after our promise to one another and then acting up. Not the other way around. “Please, that was nasty of me... It would never repeat itself, I promise." "Fine." I leaned forward and pecked his sharp nose, then giggled. “I see what you're doing.” He held onto me tightly. "You want all of my attention and myself, yeah?" "I don't know what you're talking about.” I squirmed and tried to free myself. His grip got tighter as I collapsed onto him, and he kissed the length of my neck haphazardly. "Are you sure you don’t?” He mocked me subtly. "Jeez! Asher, I need to go freshen up. I bet you love your meals neat and freshly baked.” I teased. "Uhhh..." I love the sound of that. "Naughty boy.” I smacked his bicep when he finally let me go and took me upstairs. I wouldn't want to be trapped in his arms again, all sweaty and disoriented. “Can you bring the kids along when coming down for dinner? They must be famished." "Sure, I will.” I muttered and kept walking. I rushed through a quick shower and returned downstairs with the kids, as ordered. On the dinner table were plates of honey-laced waffles, egg bacon toast, slices of oranges, and some raspberries. In Penny's bowl, there were pink crispies. Everyone got to be treated specially. We sat down and began feasting.Asher was a good cook, except that some days he felt like he was being punished by celestial beings. In those times, he would never get it right, no matter the effort he put in.And the kids showed no mercy when criticising the horrible meals, while I sat and gulped down the sawdust, teary-eyed. Typical of Emily and drama, she resumed her nasty habit of picking on her food. She started separating the well-diced veggies from the egg bacon and occasionally throwing them in Penny's bowl. "Can you stop that and eat decently, Emily?" “But mum..." "Penny has hers; it's tiring watching you..." I trailed off when Asher's hand dropped on mine. With my mood being weird, I was taking it out on a much safer object. Transference was never safe. Not in a happy home for a start. "Sweetie, you know veggies are healthy for you to grow, right?” I took another calm approach. "She loves being petite.” Ethan teased her. “Mind your business.” Emily sighed and frowned at Ethan. After the sumptuous meal, I monitored them to brush their teeth, bathe, and settle in bed for the night after settling in their pajamas. I would be damned if I only instructed them and left. For a million years, my order would only accumulate dirt, as Ethan and Ezra would bury themselves in their video games and Emily would baby Penny. “Mum, tell us a bedtime story.” Ezra pleaded. Defeated, I began my tale of the legendary Wolf's King and his Luna. It happened to be their favourite story, and they never grew weary of it. In less than ten minutes, they were all fast asleep, like wasted adults. I tucked them into bed and watched them sleep for a while before turning off the light. When I returned to our bedroom, Asher and I were already fast asleep. He must be truly exhausted. Calmly, I slipped beneath the duvet and adjusted till I was right next to his heart, where I belonged. In his bosom, I laid my head and happily watched the rise and fall of his chest cavity as I listened to his heartbeat and the duration of his respiration. Asher was an angel, sent from the moon goddess herself. He was nothing short of a good lover and father. Flushed, I admired the perfect lines of his thin lips, long and sharp nose, and thick black and long eyelashes that adorned his face. He was beautiful. I reached up and planted a soft, feather-like kiss on his forehead. If Sebastian doesn't quit his stupid games, I would have to buy a solid rock and slip it on my ring finger, so he would see from miles away that I had a happy home, No one could ruin it, not even himself. "What if I choose you? Would it still count?” I sniffled and whispered to the sleeping Asher. His eyelashes flickered lazily, and then they flew open. Freaking wide open!Sebastian’s POV _I want her so bad..._ It scared the crap out of me as I would do anything and go to any length just to claim her... My hands beneath her thighs, where they belonged, her head peacefully laid on my bosom, and my nose buried in the length of her neck, as I sniffed her sweet vanilla scent. "You’re mine,” I murmured. If I can't have her, nobody would. I was ready to make up for all those years I hurt her so badly. I was naive and stupid and helpless. Everyone deserves a second chance, I won't be ripped off. Back then, she was this soft-spoken, calm, and quiet weak girl. Eight years was enough to change your whole personality. She was no longer the girl I knew her to be. The Jasmine I was faced with was fierce, stubborn, and more beautiful than I imagined. It made it even more difficult to think of the best way to win her over...She was a totally different person. Life was going fine for her, I didn't need a seer to know that; being in a big city, and a good doctor
Jasmine's POV _8: 00 AM_ I was already late and I was sure to get scolded by Brandy. _Silver paws and fur so wild,_ _A gentle heart, yet fierce and mild._ _Underneath the stars so high,_ _A lullaby for the moonlit sky._ “Argh.” I groaned, about to explode because I needed peace and quiet and the kids' singing was not helping matters. “Easy, darling.” Asher nudged my elbow. "They're just having fun.” “If fun means ruining my mental health, then I don't want it.” Asher just chuckled, having more tolerance than myself. They didn't seem to care as they jumped and clapped in excitement, with Emily taking the lead. She would definitely be the death of me aside from Sebastian. For about an hour and a half, we drove around the city, navigating our way through hounding traffic and road workers. I couldn’t keep up with the number of rules Asher broke ever since we started this less than two-hour journey. If I told him that the kids were watching and might pick up from this bad habit of h
Jasmine's POV _Miss Bianca?!_ Nurse Carol’s voice rang like a siren in my head. Miss Bianca, and emergency in the same sentence? I couldn't think what could possibly go wrong with her. I was her personal doctor, and we had a good relationship outside of the work environment. The last time she came, she did a full body check and she was doing just fine. It's just weeks after... Or was it an accident? “When did she arrive?” I spoke up for the first time even though my words mocked me after. She obviously came in a while ago. The hospital wasn't her home."Yeah, a while ago." Nurse Carol responded anyway and turned to leave. "Dear moon,” I murmured. "Please keep her safe.” Miss Bianca was such a sweet soul, and one client who would stick with you no matter how messy things got, just like she stayed true to me even after the scandal on the miracle doctor. In haste, I shoved Sebastian aside and hurried after Nurse Carol who led the way. My patient's health meant more to me, and if it
Jasmine's POV“In my office,” Brady instructed further. “Don't keep me waiting.” Stern gaze, chiselled jaws, and hands crossed behind his lanky frame, he walked out of my office. Not even an 'excuse or pardon.’ He nudged my shoulder with his, as he walked past me. Was I that invisible? That was a quarter of my worry right now, though. Brady didn't allow me to defend myself before he left, which meant there was no guarantee that I stood a chance for a fair fight in his office. How did my mistake get out of the operating room with such speed? Was I being watched all those while? I guess no one believed in me that much to allow me to handle something as basic as appendectomy without being watched like a dog. Or... My heart skipped meaningful beats. Was that freaking loser the one that sent Brady my errors? Was it Dr. Jenkins? Dr. Kylie? Nurse Sam? One of those desperate interns?... Brady had left for a while now, yet I was confused and on the same spot his shoulder shove kept me at.
Jasmine's POV _"It's him, right?"_ Those words sent me jolting for the skies like an eel, scared to my bones. Dear goddess. In haste, I wiped my face with the back of my palms, pat drying it and acting like not a tear dropped a while ago. Satisfied with my not-so-damp damp face, I turned to see Dr. Liam standing beside me, erected like a rock. "I’m sorry, I didn't mean to startle you.” He made a baby face, one that was impossible to stay mad at. What was he doing here? Clearly, Liam doesn't know much about 'let her be’ or 'she needs her space and time to think’ shit... Just the random privacy needs for patients and that's that. "It's okay, not like it's your fault.” I made a great effort to be as normal as I could. He looked at me like he was waiting for a response that he had yet to get. And I, on the other hand, acted too suspicious to let it slide. "What?" I demanded, still feigning pretence. "It's him, right?” He repeated those words that got me spiralling. Asher knew my
Jasmine's POVLiam's facial expression changed from jovial to shocked to angry, in split seconds. “That wasn't what I meant.” I retraced my steps. "I was trying to point out what you and Asher had in common. The other day he wanted to call you about my work-related stress.”"Oh." He raised an eyebrow, and his face calmed down in realization. "Yeah." I nodded in relief. There was no life safer than a smart white lie. Thrown in the wild, I had to prepare myself for the hard life ahead, and now, it was funny how I boasted of my lying ability. “Besides, why would Mr. Carter threaten me?” Now that I succeeded in getting the tension off the table, I pried further. If he ever suspected anything, now was the time to clear his doubt and feed him with more from where the previous came from. "Why not Brady?" I prompted him when he didn't respond with the much needed pace. “Because Brady is capable of anything but a threat.” He paused. I scoffed. "Don't swear on your life, boy. You'd be go
Sebastian's POV Her eyes were no longer cool, pretty amber. They burned furiously with flashes of green—ones that could paralyze a man on the spot, ones that sent deadly threats down anyone's spine. She pretty much looked like a predator about to launch on its prey, and to be honest, I was taken aback for a moment. "Stay away from me and my family; consider this my last warning.” She turned to leave. I had bitten her on a spot that hurt the most: her family, Hurting them wasn't part of the plan; I only wanted to take Jasmine back, and together we would return to the werewolf's world, our pack... Not war. But I would gladly give it if that was the sacrifice to get her back. "And if I don’t?” I dared. Halfway gone, she turned to face me; irritation was very noticeable in her gaze. "How about you find out?” She smirked. I sneered in return, loving the outcome of things. If there was anything I got lately, it was being mischievous. My father made me promise him that I would become a
Asher's POV Jasmine gasped as I sped up and drive past two cars at a go. “Babe, can you not get us arrested?” Jasmine lashed out. I chuckled. Not to exaggerate, driving was a game to me... A live video game and I got to enjoy it. And in my defense, I wasn't past the speed limit. Jasmine was one scarecrow when it came to driving. She drive at a snail's pace, and even Ezra found it boring. "I wonder how we didn't get in trouble earlier today.” She sighed. I stopped laughing and looked at her. "Relax, please.” I mumbled. "I'm in control, okay?”"Look at the road." She yelled. Swiftly, I returned my gaze to the road and found it very free of any obstacle. Just a spoilt trailer a few meters away. She was freaking out, and I tried not to laugh. Gosh. She looked so pretty even when angry. Unable to resist her, I stole side glances and she frowned at it. It made me laugh my brains out. "Jeez, loosen up... A little bit.” I requested. "Whatever." She snorted a response and slumped in her
Jasmine's POV "Welcome, Alpha Finley!" My mother excitedly welcomed the guests and even though there were ushers all over the place, she still made it her duty to welcome people, especially her special guests; allies of our packs, noble alphas, and a few old buddies. Today was the final day Asher would be coronated as Alpha of his pack and the merging of our packs together. My parents made a long list of guests they would invite. I, Liam, and Rylee on the other hand just received soft treatment, ate, and enjoyed the weekend. Their presence in the pack and hospital had relieved me of stress. Liam made sure a few agents I sent partnership deeds to collaborate with me. He also helped in the hospital and took on the role of training intern doctors. Rylee wasn't left out, she took care of the kids a few times and helped with the non-medical management of the hospital. She was a good manager, so I made her take on the role of the head of our PR team. Alpha Finley followed my mother as
Chapter 162 Resurrection Of The Miracle Doctor Jasmine's POV "Dr. Jasmine!" A random voice screamed. I turned in the direction and found a man in his mid-thirties, groaning in pain. He nursed his left arm with his right and looked a bit battered. His shirt was torn in a few places, and so were his pants, in addition, they were dirty. "Hello," I smiled genuinely when I got to where he was standing. "Dr. Jasmine, my body aches." He groaned in severe pain. "What happened to you, if I may ask?" I began integrating him, still observing him closely. "I fell off a cliff while hiking." He said briefly. "It feels like all my bones are broken." He continued to cry out. "Oh, I'm sorry to hear that." I offered my sympathy. "Thank you, Dr. Jasmine." He sniffled. "Will I be able to use my arm again?" He asked genuinely. It must be a strong fall because most times our wolf abilities helped in the healing process and made it faster. If he was this concerned, then we had a lot of work to do,
Chapter 161 Multiple Blessings As A Comeback Jasmine's POV Last night was a very emotional one for us. After we spoke to Sebastian on the phone, I didn't even let the call drop before I ran like a thief into my parent's room for the second time. Initially, they were reluctant to indulge me, but when Sebastian spoke up again, they were caught up in their disbelief as they sprang up from bed, wanting to snatch the phone from me. My mother didn't mind if she was in a skimpy gown and with her mate in bed, and so did my father, and it was even better since I was the only one around. After much battle, I handed the phone over to them in tears and they spoke at length with their son, asking for forgiveness, and also pleaded that he had a change of mind and returned for the full moon holidays. Sebastian on the other hand, was quite repentant than I had figured him to be. He also apologized to his parents and myself and Asher, and we bonded like one big family. Throughout last night, my
Chapter 160 Merry Go Round Jasmine's POV "Ah!" I groaned, a loud deafening cry. Sebastian was freaking alive?! Damn it! I flung the paper from Asher's hand in disbelief... The news was a good one, but I was still living in denial, it was too good to be true. "Oh my!" I whimpered, my hands were visibly shaky. By now, my sweaty palms had left brown maps on the pure white sheet. "It's Sebastian," Asher spoke after a long pause. He was still clearly in shock like myself, if not more. Without prior thoughts, I got off the bed and rushed out of the room, headed to my parent's room. I couldn't wait to see their reaction. Even though they seemed to have moved on, it was no denying that they missed him so much. First, he was their son, their only biological child, and second, everything around them reminded them of Sebastian... The throne, food, events he was unable to meet up because of his sudden demise... They would be over the moon, I could stake my life on it. "Mother!" I cried as
Chapter 159 An Unexpected Visitor From The Past Jasmine's POV I remained in Asher's bosom as we cuddled up in bed all day. It was the full moon period and the pack were preparing for a splendid celebration. The kids were at their father's pack, they remained with their grandparents after the visit to his pack to show me the surprise. It was already a week after that wonderful day, and I had yet to fully shake off it. Who would have expected? From day one, I knew Asher's love was unbeatable but I never saw that coming. He kept raising the bar over and over again every freaking day. I finally get to be a doctor, I finally get to live in my dreams all day without fear of waking up from it prematurely! Damn! "I just called the manager in charge of the construction." Asher dropped the phone and played with my hair, running his hand through it and lacing multiple strands around his fingers. "Okay?" I titled my chin upward so it was leaning directly on his bosom. I was so invested in
Asher's POV "Babe!" I got into the bedroom and dived into it, missing her by an inch. "Jeez!" She exclaimed and adjusted swiftly, preventing the wrecking of her toes and limbs. "What was that for?" She frowned, looking at me sternly like she would kill me with her gaze if she could. "I'm sorry," I chuckled. "I'm just super excited for you," I added. "For me?" She rolled her eyes in a 'what for?' way. "So, you know that I keep going to my pack every weekend, huh?" I waited for her to respond and she nodded her head in affirmation. "The thing is that I have a surprise for you." I finished, the excitement palpable in my voice. "You need to see it!" I beamed. "In your pack?" "Yup." I nodded furiously, with a goofy grin plastered across my cheeks. "Nah," She frowned, collapsing back in the bed. "I'm tired." She grumbled."Up, up." I spanked her hips. "We have to get going, time is not on our side." I urged her. "Which is why I can't go." She sighed. "The day is far gone, you can
Chapter 157 A New Chapter Jasmine's POV Two Years Later. Asher went to his pack for the weekend. Like me, he had accepted to become the alpha, but he just did recently, and it was because he was rendering a helping hand and solid support to me. Together, we helped my parents, and never did we stop treating them like family, because they deserved much more than we could give. "Mum? I can't find Penny." Emily cried in frustration. "Have you checked around?" I waited for her to respond and she nodded. "Maybe check the garden? She may be in love with nature.""Not really," She frowned. "I doubt she will be outside, I didn't let her out." She sighed. "You could ask the servants to help you out... respectfully," I added. "Okay." She shrugged and bobbed out.I laughed shortly as I watched her leave. The kids had moved down to the pack with us, as we couldn't leave them with Liam and Rylee for a long period of time. Initially, they were sad, as they had changed schools for the umptee
Chapter 156 The Saving Jasmine's POV I remained curled up in bed, still in a beaten state. It had been days since Sebastian's death and we were yet to shake off the sad reality... There was no getting of this ill fate. Asher came into the room, holding a cup of tea on a saucer. He looked pretty much stressed, the whole household was practically in distress. Neither I nor Asher got to play with the kids like we used to, or even make them the nice meals we usually do. Although Asher tried his best to be present, it would never be the same as it used to be. Our existence of late was basically bland and without flavor. The kids only went to school, are and remained in their room, the only person that managed to escape the claws of boredom was Emily as she had Penny. Their grandparents were even more grieved than me. "Babe, you should have something in your system." He set the cup of tea beside me and sat at the foot of the bed, just close to my toes. "I'm fine," I brushed his offer
Jasmine's POVIt was an early Saturday morning, I was sorting out dirty clothes in the hamper as I prepared to do the laundry. This was something I hated about weekends, I basically had to do all of what I wasn't able to do during weekdays and there was no way I would leave the laundry till the upper week. Since my parents got discharged from the hospital, we agreed to allow them to stay with us for about three months and see how things go. Next week would make it three months, and so far, they were going perfectly, especially for my father who was seriously ill. And next, I would make food for the kids and my parents. Jeez! It was overwhelming. Not like Asher wasn't helping, but I just got lazy over the week. Plus, Asher went out to do some inquiries for the new company he was starting, which meant he would not be home anytime soon and when he returned, it's proper he gets fed. "Mum?!" I heard the kids scream. I sighed loudly, partly irritated. They would never cease to annoy me
