NORA’S POV

I sank to the filthy cell floor, my trembling legs unable to support me any longer. Tears streamed down my face, my whole body shaking with the weight of my actions. I never meant for any of this to happen. I never meant to shoot my own sister. But now, with the news of Gina's death hanging over me, I couldn't stop the stream of tears, and I could barely breathe.

The other cellmates stared at me, their eyes burning with curiosity and judgment. But I didn't have the energy to care. All I could see was Gina's lifeless body on the ground when I removed the bean bag and the flash of my finger pulling the trigger replaying in my mind like a broken record.

In the blink of an eye, Thomas appeared at the cell gate with his face contorted with anger and grief, his eyes filled with venom as he started hurling accusations at me. "You fucking monster! You killed her, didn't you? I know what you are capable of, you sick bitch!"

I cried out through my sobs, my voice hoarse. "It was an accident! I would never hurt Gina. I was trying to save her from some thugs!"

"Shut up!" he yelled at the top of his lungs, refusing to listen, his rage spiraling out of control. "I will make sure you rot in this fucking jail! You killed my mate because I wanted to get married to her instead of you! You did this to bring me pain, you disgust me! I hope you are happy now, because I can't sleep or do anything, my wolf and I are going through a lot of pain!"

My heart shattered into a thousand pieces. This was not how I expected him to react. I watched as he grabbed a fistful of his own hair, shaking his head like a madman. I got up from the floor and walked closer to the gate so I could talk to him.

"I didn't mean to kill her, it was an accident, please believe me!" I shouted in his face. Before I could process what was happening, he pulled out a pocketknife. His fingers trembled with rage, and time stood still as he moved closer to me and attempted to shove the knife into my stomach. But cops surrounded him, dragging him away from my cell.

"Let me go!" he shouted in their arms. "Let me kill her, she deserves to die!!!" His voice echoed in the station as they went out of view.

I collapsed to the floor, my body limp, and a burden I never asked for weighed heavily on my shoulders — a mother in need of surgery, a lost job, and now the unbearable weight that I might be sentenced to life in prison. It felt like the moon goddess was punishing me for the things I did in my past life. I cried harder than ever. My sobs carried the weight of my shattered life.

***

As I sat in the cold, dank cell with my cellmates, their voices mixing into a symphony of chaos, they were talking to me, trying to get me to crack through my silence. I had been here for three days, and I hadn't opened my mouth yet.

"Hey, new girl!" one of them called out, her voice gruff. "You gonna keep playing the mute card, or you finally gonna talk to us?"

I ignored her, my eyes fixed on the cobwebs in the corner of the cell. They seemed to be mocking me, reminding me of the tangled mess my life had become.

"Just a little chit-chat, sweetheart," another cellmate chimed in. "We all doing time here. Might as well get to know each other, right?"

I clenched my fists, my nails digging into my palms. I didn't want to be here; I never wanted any of this.

Suddenly, the sound of boots echoing through the hallway broke through the cacophony of the cell. The heavy metal door creaked open, revealing a disinterested cop. He looked at me with his eyes filled with pity.

"You are free to go," he grumbled, tossing a set of keys onto the ground.

I blinked, my heart racing as I slowly stood up, my legs feeling weak beneath me. Free? Was this some sick joke? I glanced at the cellmates, and they all glared at me out of jealousy.

"Who bailed me?" I demanded, my voice sharper and louder than ever before.

The cop shrugged. "Some friend or whatever. I don't know how you knew someone so powerful, but they are waiting for you at the front desk."

Without a second thought, I dashed out of the cell, my feet carrying me as fast as I could towards the front desk. As I burst through the glass doors of the station, my eyes fell upon Alicia. Standing there, her arms crossed and a look of concern on her face. The sight took my breath away.

"What the heck, Your Highness? How did you even know I was here? I—"

She cut in. "Shh, come with me," she said and pulled me aside to a corner of the station. "Listen, Nora. I can help you. I can prevent you from going to prison, and I will pay your mother's medical bills. But there is something you have to do for me, something big." She said quickly.

"What do you mean, something big?" I asked, my voice barely a whisper. "I don't have any other choice, do I?"

She nodded and let out a sigh. "No, you don't. I need you to be my surrogate. Carry my child. I will take care of everything, I promise. Just say you will do it."

I hesitated, my mind a jumbled mess. The thought of renting out my body for a year felt overwhelming, but I realized this might be the only chance to save my mother, to make things right.

"Fine," I finally said. "I will do it. But you better keep your promise."

"Thank you. You won't regret it, I promise." She beamed and pulled me in for a tight hug, but our moment was abruptly interrupted by a deep, commanding voice.

We both turned to see Alpha George, the soon-to-be alpha of the Darkfire Pack, one of the most feared alphas in all the lands and also known as the God of War, standing there with an intense gaze. I couldn't help but feel captivated by his presence, my breath catching in my throat.

"What the heck is going on here, Alicia?" Alpha George's voice was low and filled with authority, his piercing gray eyes only on her.

Alicia forced a smile and composed herself. "Just visiting a friend, honey. Nothing to worry about," she replied, her voice steady.

"I didn't know you had a friend in jail. I was surprised when my beta told me you were coming here," he said. "Let's go home; I have something to show you." he concluded. My heart pounded in my chest, fear creeping up my spine as I realized that he had no idea what his fiancée was up to.

Alicia leaned closer to me and whispered in my ear. "Go with my bodyguards; they will take you to a place where you can have the baby."

"Right now? I thought you were supposed to give me time to…" she pulled away, before I could finish my speech, and I swallowed hard.

She walked over to him, and he took her hand in his, leading her away without even stealing a glance at me. What more did I expect? He was an alpha male, and I was a fucking nobody.

NORA’S POVAs I walked up the hill towards the beautiful mansion, guided by Alicia's intimidating bodyguards, my heart pounded hard in my chest. The rumors surrounding this place were wild, but here I was about to find out the truth. We entered the lavish living room, adorned with elegant furniture and artifacts from around the world. There, standing in the center of it was a doctor."Welcome, Nora. I am Doctor Laura, I will be in charge of the whole process," she greeted me with a smile. "I assume you are ready for this life-changing opportunity?"I nodded, although I was scared, and this all felt surreal. I had to do it to earn my freedom back. "Yes, I am. Let's do this.""Come with me," she said, leading me to one of the many expensive couches in the living room and handed me a pen and a thick paper."That's the contract; you can go through it if you want," she said and took a seat on the couch, and I sat down on the three-seater couch in front of her. I opened the pen with my mout

Present… Nora’s POV I took a deep breath, trying to steady my racing heartbeat. My mind was a whirlwind of confusion, embarrassment, and guilt. The sound of the water echoed in the shower, its soothing rhythm trying to wash away the taint of my recklessness. I scrubbed vigorously as if I could scrub away the shame that clung to my skin. My body shivered under the hot water, not from the heat but from the memories that flashed through my mind. The feel of his lips on mine and the way his hands roamed my body with an intensity that made my knees weak. As I stepped out of the shower, I reached for the arsenal of beauty products—makeup to conceal the hickies that disfigured my neck and jaw and perfume to drown out the intoxicating scent of Alpha George that still clung like a possessive lover. The mirror reflected back a girl I didn’t recognize. I slipped into a cute pink dress, hoping it would take my mind off things. With my head hanging low, I made my way to the living room and st

Nora’s POV My chest rose and fell as Dr. Laura’s hand invaded my most intimate spaces. She was giving me a pelvic examination with my legs wide open under the sheets. The whole process was uncomfortable, but I was thinking of the words to say to Alicia when she found out. “All done.” Dr. Laura said and started scribbling some words in her journal. She had a blank expression on her face, so I couldn’t tell what she was thinking. “Is something wrong? You don’t look so happy was it not a success?” Alicia asked and released her grip on my hand. I closed my eyes and felt awful for making them do the checkup when I already knew the result. “Guess what!?” Dr. Laura exclaimed, and there was a short pause. “She is pregnant! Two months in!” My eyes fluttered open in shock, and my mind went blank. Pregnant? How the hell was that possible? Does this mean what Leo was saying was all bullshit and just his strategy to get into my pants? “Yes!” Alicia squealed with joy. She was overwhelmed with

Alpha George’s POV I watched him from behind the one-way mirror. He was the bomber who had destroyed one of my factories, killing dozens of innocent people. He was tied to a chair, covered in blood and bruises. He looked scared, but not scared enough. I entered the room, wearing a bloody apron and holding a dagger. My beta, Jack, followed me, ready to assist. The bomber’s eyes widened when he saw me. He knew who I was. He knew what I was capable of. I walked up to him and stared into his eyes. “Who sent you to bomb my factory?” I asked in a cold and calm voice. “Do you know how many people died because of you? How many families are crying for justice?” He spat on the floor. He was a skinny man with a scruffy beard and a bandana around his head. He had cuts all over his arm, and his fingers were bleeding. He looked defiant, even though he was helpless. “I can’t tell you," he said. “Just kill me and get it over with.” I shook my head in disbelief. “You don’t get to die that easily

Alpha George’s POV I stormed back into the torture room, ready to end this once and for all. I saw Jack slapping the face of the bomber, who was still tied to the chair. His eyes were bloodshot, and his lips were swollen. He looked like he had been through hell. “Any progress?” I asked Jack, hoping for a miracle. “No, alpha. He is still loyal to his master. He won’t tell me who hired him, and it’s getting on my nerves.” Jack replied with frustration in his voice. I clenched my fists and grabbed the dagger from Jack’s belt. I walked towards the bomber, who glared at me with defiance. I raised the dagger, ready to stab him in the heart. “George, wait!” Jack shouted, grabbing me from behind. “Don’t do it, please. You are better than this. We can still try to get him to talk he is our only lead.” I struggled to free myself, but Jack was at an advantage. He pulled me back and knocked the dagger to the floor. He hugged me and whispered in my ear. “Thank you," he muttered. He had been

I locked the door behind me and leaned against it, looking at her with a lot of desire. “Listen, you have to break up with Leo,” I blurted out. She blinked at me, her eyes wide and confused. “What? Why?” she inquired. “Because I like you, damn it. I want you to be my mistress. I can take care of you, and I can give you a good apartment, a nice car, and anything else you want. Just say yes, please.” She stared at me as if I had grown a second head, and then she shook her head and stood up, trying to get past me. “Are you crazy? You have a fiancée. And she is pregnant, she is downstairs waiting for you. How can you say something like that to me?" She raised her voice. I followed her and grabbed her hand. “I don’t care, she is nothing to me, you are the one that makes me feel alive!” I snapped. Nora’s POV I was pacing back and forth in my room, wondering why Alpha George wanted me out of the villa. What did I do to piss him off? Was it because I refused to be his mistress? A knock sounded on the door, and I opened it. It was Leo. He looked sad and guilty, as if he had something to do with the alpha’s decision. “Hey, what’s up?” I asked, trying to sound casual. “Huh, can I come in?” he asked softly. “Sure, why not? It’s not like you ever knock before barging in anyway,” I joked, hoping to lighten the mood. He gave me a weak smile and walked into my room. He went straight to my closet and started packing my clothes into a black bag. “What are you doing?” I asked, confused. He stole a glance at me and continued, taking out the clothes. “I’m sorry, but we have to go. Now.” He said, his voice trembling. “Go where?” I inquired with my hands on my hips. “To one of Alicia’s houses in the pack, she is the only one who can protect you from the alpha since he doesn’t want you

How have you hired this... this gold digger to carry our child?” He turned his gaze to me, and I felt a chill run down my spine. He looked at me with contempt and disgust, as if I was nothing but dirt. He reached into his pocket and pulled out a bundle of money. He threw it at my face, hard. It hit me on the nose, and I felt a sharp pain and a warm trickle of blood. “Here bitch! Take your money and get out of our lives,” he spat. “You did everything for money, right? Well, here is your reward. Now Leo, give her back her children.” He ordered,

AUTHOR’S POV A year later, A year had passed since Nora lost Leo, bringing her to this moment, seated in the dressing room, staring at herself in a wedding dress. Mrs. Williams, who had once been a wicked mother, now stood before her, offering jewels as tokens of acceptance and regret. The nightstand was filled with daily gifts from her and her husband, each one a silent plea for forgiveness. Nora’s gaze lingered on the jewels, her voice soft but strong. “I cannot accept these anymore,” she remarked. “Like I said before, I have already forgiven you a long time ago. These gifts aren’t necessary.” Regret formed a jagged rock in Mrs. Williams's stomach, and emotion flickered across her face. “These gifts are my punishment,” she declared. “I did a lot of awful things in the past, and I forgot that love doesn’t care about social status. The moon goddess herself would agree to that; that is why she made you my son’s mate. And no one is more suited for him than you.” The knock at the do

Make his sacrifice meaningful.” A smile lit up his broad face, softening his harsh features. Overwhelmed by their kindness, Nora felt a tear streak down her fac

And why did you guys make everyone think you were dead?” A masculine chuckle escaped his lungs. “We didn’t fake our deaths, Nora.” He said, shaking his head. “It was a bizarre twist of fate. We were attacked on our way out of the pack, and now that I think about it, the attacker was probably Dante.” Her mind raced through a thousand questions and possibilities. “That does make sense. Dante would want George out of the way to make kidnapping the kids easier. He must have seen him as a threat.” She muttered and frowned a little. “I still can’t believe George left the pack behi

A cold laugh escaped Alicia’s throat and echoed in the cramped space. “I don’t want your money, old man, I just need to grab some supplies.” She replied and obtained a coil of rope from one of the shelves. She kept the man caged in the sights of her rifle as she closed the distance. “Stay here and don’t make a sound, if you try to act smart, I will have no option but to kill you,” she threatened as she used the rope to tie his hands behind him, securing him to the shelf like a display of h

The shower area itself was just a single room, blocked by a small door. There was no cover between the five or six showers, so they both had plenty of space to mess around and get each other clean. The whole shower room was tiled, so the two would have to try hard not to fall over because of how slippery everything was. “I have always wanted to do this with someone, but I haven’t had a proper girlfriend in a long time.” His voice was silky as velvet. The guard pushed Alicia against the cold tiled wall, his body squishing up against hers. Her nipples were hard and almost carved into his chest, but he didn't care. Her breasts squeezed and contoured around his chest as they both continued kissing. Their legs were moving constantly, trying to find a good footing, before eventually finding a good rhythm.
