Nora’s POV

Continuation of flashback

I clutched my sons to my chest as the cab driver drove through the Stormchaser pack after I left the Wolfsong pack. I had heard this pack was more tolerant of outsiders, but I still felt nervous. I had been turned away by so many shelters in the Wolfsong pack, where I had hoped to find a safe place since it was Alicia’s father's pack, but they had no room for a single mother with no mate, money, or connection.

I had spent the last few nights at saunas, where I could pay a small fee to use the showers and the beds. But it was not enough, I needed a place to call home and to raise my sons. I had saved up enough money to rent a small apartment with the money George insulted me with. The apartment was in a poor neighborhood, it was a place where only rogues and omegas lived, a place where no one cared about your status or past.

During the day, I dropped my sons off at a daycare while I went to work at a bar as a waitress. The apartm

Alpha George’s POV Anger bubbled up inside my head and into my throat. I stared at the employee in disbelief, feeling veins throbbing in my neck. How dare Nora claim not to know me? After all I went through to find her? “Look, buddy, I don’t know what you are talking about,” the employee said, putting his phone back in his pants pocket. He tried to push past Jack, who was standing next to me. “I just work here, okay? I don’t have anything to do with Nora or her kids. I am just a colleague, not even a friend.” Jack blocked his way, his face stern and serious. He grabbed his arm and pulled him back. "Listen, you don’t fucking get it, do you? This is George, the alpha of the Darkfire pack. He is Nora’s mate and the father of her twins, he has been looking for them for over a decade, ever since she ran away with his kids.” The employee’s eyes widened, and he looked at me with a mix of fear and awe. A gasp escaped from his lips, and his mouth fell open. “No way,” he whispered. “Y-You

Alpha George’s POV I slammed my fist on the door, ringing the doorbell over and over again. Jack went to the windows of the apartment, peering inside. He shook his head slowly and said, “There is no one home, she left with the kids.” My heart sank at the thought that Nora had run away after hearing that we were coming. Rage started boiling from my feet and made its way upward, and I punched the door again, harder this time. The wood cracked under my blow, but the door didn’t budge. I let out a primal scream and collapsed on the floor in front of the door, burying my face in my hands. “She ran away with our sons, and whose fault is that, George?” Knight asked in anger. “We shouldn’t have let that fucking employee call her,” I said, my voice muffled by my palms. “I don’t think she has anywhere else to go, she will be back with the kids, I am sure of it. We just have to wait.” I leaned my head against the door and wrapped my arms around my chest to warm myself. The cold night air w

Nora's POV Back to present....I felt a sharp sting on my arm and jerked awake. I looked at the tiny red spot on my skin and cursed under my breath. “Fucking mosquitoes.” They were everywhere in this cheap motel room, buzzing around and biting us mercilessly. My eyes drifted to my sons, who were sleeping next to me on the small bed. They were covered with red welts and scratches, and they tossed and turned in their sleep. My face contorted in anger and guilt. How did we end up here? I pulled the thin blanket off me and draped it over them, tucking it around their bodies. It was barely enough to cover them both, let alone me. I got up and walked to the window, hoping for some fresh air. But all I saw was a dusty parking lot and a neon sign that flickered “Motel.” The sun was already rising, casting pale orange light over the horizon. It was morning, but it felt like night. I leaned against the window and felt hot tears well up in my eyes. I thought of Zane, I h

I burst into tears as my mind came to the conclusion that Zane only used me and lost interest after having sex with me.Hot tears ran down my cheeks as I placed my hands and head against the steering wheel and continued to cry wholeheartedly with my hands pressing the brakes continuously and making a lot of noise. I didn’t care about anything anymore. I only cared about the fact that Zane, or whatever his real name was, had shattered my heart into pieces.***The salty tears burned my eyes as I gazed at my sons, who were happily crunching on the stale chips and candy bars that were our dinner. I was so caught up in my own world that I forgot to prepare dinner, and I didn’t even go to work today. We were holed up in the dingy motel room.“Matt, stop it!” Asher snapped, grabbing the bag of chips from his brother’s hand. “You are eating too fast, yo

He came over and asked what I wanted. "Your...strongest drink,” I mumbled, my words slurring. He gave a lopsided grin and said, “It’s coming right up.” He walked away and came back with a drink that glowed like molten lava. He handed it to me, and I collected it. I took a sip, feeling it scorch my throat, and gulped it down. I ordered a few more. Shot! I couldn’t believe Zane, thought I was forgettable after all we had been through together, the cases we solved together, the hours we spent teasing and flirting with each other, and the number of times he hit on me. After shot! He didn’t even consider all the love we shared and how my heart fucking aches right now, just thinking about him. And all that stuff he said about loving me and my sons was bullshit! Nora’s POV A groan escaped from my lips as I saw the faces of Jack and the other warriors blocking my way. They looked like they were ready to pounce on me if I made a wrong move. I glanced back at George, who was standing behind me with a smug expression on his face. He knew I had no choice but to listen to him. “Let me go!” I shouted, trying to push past them. “I don’t want to talk to you, George! You have no right to keep me here or treat me this way!” “Calm down, Little Bird,” George said, his voice calm and authoritative. “You are not a prisoner here, you are my guest and the mother of my sons.” I snorted. I was fucking tired of hearing him call me the stupid nickname he just made up a few minutes ago. “Your sons?” I spat, feeling my chest rise in anger. “What sons? Do you mean the ones you rejected? The sons you didn’t want to see or take care of right after they were born?” I inquired, looking into his eyes. “That’s not true,” George said, shaking his head. “I made a mist

Alpha George’s POV The door of the hotel room burst open with a loud bang, making me jump. Jack stumbled in, panting and sweating. His face was ashen, and his eyes were wide with terror. He looked like he had just finished running a marathon. “Bro, we have a problem,” he gasped, clutching his chest. “What is it?” I inquired, feeling a knot form in my stomach. He let out a harsh breath and said, “It’s Nora, she is gone.” “Gone? What do you mean gone?” I snapped, getting up from the bed and walking towards him. “Are you trying to tell me that a little she-wolf outsmarted a bunch of you guys?” He opened his mouth to speak, and unspoken words lingered on his lips. “…I don’t know how she did it, but I heard she clawed one of the warriors like a beast and ran down the corridor. My boys are still looking for her all over the hotel, but it seems she is nowhere to be found.” Anger boiled in my chest, and I shook my head in disbelief. How could she slip away from them? Alpha George’s POV My chest rose and fell as I knocked on the door of room 316, and it swung open with a creak. I stepped inside and froze. There they were on the bed, a man and a woman, entangled in the sheets of the bed, kissing passionately and groping each other. My heart clenched at the sight, and Knight slurred inside of me at the thought that it was Nora. I didn’t think, I just acted. I ran towards them and pulled them apart, ready to confront the bastard who had stolen her from me. But as I looked at their faces, I realized they were not who I thought they were. They were strangers, with no resemblance to Nora or the man I had seen her on the news with before. They looked at me with shock and fear, as if I was a madman. “Who the hell are you?” the man yelled, pushing me away from the woman. His eyes flashed yellow, a sign of his anger and his wolf. He was ready to fight me, but I didn’t care. I only cared about Nora. “Where is Nora?” I demanded, scanning the room for any cl

AUTHOR’S POV A year later, A year had passed since Nora lost Leo, bringing her to this moment, seated in the dressing room, staring at herself in a wedding dress. Mrs. Williams, who had once been a wicked mother, now stood before her, offering jewels as tokens of acceptance and regret. The nightstand was filled with daily gifts from her and her husband, each one a silent plea for forgiveness. Nora’s gaze lingered on the jewels, her voice soft but strong. “I cannot accept these anymore,” she remarked. “Like I said before, I have already forgiven you a long time ago. These gifts aren’t necessary.” Regret formed a jagged rock in Mrs. Williams's stomach, and emotion flickered across her face. “These gifts are my punishment,” she declared. “I did a lot of awful things in the past, and I forgot that love doesn’t care about social status. The moon goddess herself would agree to that; that is why she made you my son’s mate. And no one is more suited for him than you.” The knock at the do

Leo’s parents, their faces covered with grief, stood beside her, each adding their own floral tribute. Nora turned to them, but her eyes pointed at the ground, the guilt still weighing on her. She dropped to her knees and whispered, “I’m the reason your son is gone. I took him away from you. If he hadn’t saved me, he would still be here.” But Leo’s parents would hear none of it. His mother lifted Nora gently, her voice soft yet firm. “No, honey. It was not your doing. It was the will of the moon goddess, and our son chose to save you.” His father added, “You must live for him now. Make his sacrifice meaningful.” A smile lit up his broad face, softening his harsh features. Overwhelmed by their kindness, Nora felt a tear streak down her fac

AUTHOR’S POV The afternoon sun streamed through the open windows, brightening the inside of the lab. Nora sat on the makeshift bed of clothes, her stomach growling in protest as she awaited George’s return with food. Jack busied himself with the windows, letting in light to compensate for the lack of electricity. Nora’s voice broke the silence. “Jack, where did you and George disappear to for all those months? And why did you guys make everyone think you were dead?” A masculine chuckle escaped his lungs. “We didn’t fake our deaths, Nora.” He said, shaking his head. “It was a bizarre twist of fate. We were attacked on our way out of the pack, and now that I think about it, the attacker was probably Dante.” Her mind raced through a thousand questions and possibilities. “That does make sense. Dante would want George out of the way to make kidnapping the kids easier. He must have seen him as a threat.” She muttered and frowned a little. “I still can’t believe George left the pack behi

But the cold was relentless, and soon the heat that followed was just as unbearable. Discomfort climbed up her spine, and heat scorched her skin. “I know you have a boyfriend, but we are in our heat period, and he is not here. You will have to ask your mate for help.” Ariana suggested in her head. “How can you suggest such a thing? If I ask him for help, he will have to have sex with me. And I can’t... I am with Leo now, and I can’t cheat on him,” she replied, with emotion roughing the syllables. “I know you don’t want to cheat on him. But this is a matter of life and death, you will die if you don’t let him help.” Ariana said in a sad tone. “I…I can’t. I just can’t. I know how much it hurts to be cheated on, I have been there a f

AUTHOR’S POV The day dawned crisp and clear as the sun poured through the streets. Alicia stormed into the grocery store, her presence as chilling as the ski mask that covered her face. The assault rifle in her grip was not just a weapon, but a representation of her desire to kill. “Put your hands where I can see them,” she hissed at the store owner, who obeyed with a tremble. “Please don’t kill me, I just opened, I haven’t earned any money!” He pleaded, but his plea for mercy fell on deaf ears. A cold laugh escaped Alicia’s throat and echoed in the cramped space. “I don’t want your money, old man, I just need to grab some supplies.” She replied and obtained a coil of rope from one of the shelves. She kept the man caged in the sights of her rifle as she closed the distance. “Stay here and don’t make a sound, if you try to act smart, I will have no option but to kill you,” she threatened as she used the rope to tie his hands behind him, securing him to the shelf like a display of h

Mr. Williams looked up, a dark smile playing on his lips, shadowed by the room’s gloom. “These are petitions I gathered from the pack members. I’m securing our son’s legacy; I am no longer turning my back on him,” he replied, sincere regret laced in his voice as he looked her in the eyes. “I shouldn’t have... I shouldn’t have supported the council. Rick must be Alpha again. I cannot let our line fade; after all, I went through it to keep it in our family.” She shook her head, her hand darting out to seize the document from his grasp. “Stop this madness,” she begged, her voice rising. “You are losing yourself in this grief. Guards hustled across the yard, their faces covered with concern, while the urgent wail of alarms pierced the air. He watched closely as two guards emerged, dragging a protesting couple out of the prison’s grand gates. “Come back another time! Visiting hours are over!” One guard barked, tossing the woman’s bag to her feet with a dismissive flick of his wrist. The woman, her face painted with frustration and desperation, clutched her bag tightly. “Why are you being so unfair? Visiting hours end at 10 p.m., and it’s only 7 p.m.,” she pleaded, her voice cracking. “I haven’t seen my niece in ages! The walls of the rooms whispered memories of laughter and learning, and though he was firm in his decision, a part of him mourned the awaiting goodbye to the children he had come to adore. The sound of footsteps snapped him back to reality. He peeked outside his room to see his boss walking purposefully towards the office. He took a deep breath and secured the zipper on his bag. A pit formed in his stomach as he grasped the resignation letter that lay on the nightstand. George entered his boss's office just in time to overhear a phone conversation about him. “Like I said earlier, it’s unprofessional for a teacher to date a parent of the kid he teaches.” His boss said in a serious tone. “I’m sorry, but no amount of money can make me help you. I respect the privacy of my teachers and stay out of their personal lives."

The shower area itself was just a single room, blocked by a small door. There was no cover between the five or six showers, so they both had plenty of space to mess around and get each other clean. The whole shower room was tiled, so the two would have to try hard not to fall over because of how slippery everything was. “I have always wanted to do this with someone, but I haven’t had a proper girlfriend in a long time.” His voice was silky as velvet. The guard pushed Alicia against the cold tiled wall, his body squishing up against hers. Her nipples were hard and almost carved into his chest, but he didn't care. Her breasts squeezed and contoured around his chest as they both continued kissing. Their legs were moving constantly, trying to find a good footing, before eventually finding a good rhythm.
