HERA

Heads turned.

There were the elders in the room, their faces startled and confused as they stared at me, but I ignored them all. My eyes were locked on Atticus, who stood at the head of the table, his expression unreadable.

“What the hell is this?” Elder Ayo growled, rising from his seat, but I didn’t spare him a glance.

I stormed toward Atticus, my body trembling with rage.

“You!” I spat, my voice echoing through the large chamber. “What the hell have you done?” I snapped at him.

Atticus’s eyes narrowed slightly, but he remained calm, his gaze steady.

“If you have manners, you'd know that this isn't…”

“I don’t care!” I cut him off, my voice shaking. “You think you can just strip me of my powers, have me beaten, and throw me into some maid’s uniform like I’m nothing?”

The room fell silent, the elders exchanging shocked glances, but I didn’t care. I was beyond caring. All that mattered now was the man standing in front of me.

Kai, his beta started to make his way toward me but

My head was filled with anger, frustration, and the burning need to figure out how to regain my power. But right now, all I wanted was a hot shower and some peace, even if only for a moment. But when I opened the door to my room and entered, the faint hope of rest was immediately shattered. Two bull dogs greeted me with a low growl. Their fur was matted with dirt, and the stench of their mess hit me before I could even process what was happening. Food and faeces were scattered everywhere—on the floor, on the bed. My stomach turned. What the fuck? But what caught my attention even more was Lilith. She sat on the corner of my bed that was unsoiled by the faeces of the dogs, casually stroking one of them, her lips curled into a smug smile as if she’d been waiting for this exact moment.I stood froze

ATTICUSI pushed the door open, expecting the silence I craved after a long, exhausting day. All I wanted to do was have a cold shower and sleep. But when I entered the room, there she was—Lilith, standing in the middle of the room, completely naked, a sly, seductive smile curling her lips. Why am I not surprised? She stepped closer, her hips swaying, confidence dripping from every movement. “I thought you might want to relax after such a long day,” she purred, her voice dripping with suggestion. Her hands reached out, brushing my chest, fingers sliding up to my neck as she leaned in to kiss me.I caught her wrists, stopping her. “Don’t.” I growled out dismissively. She blinked, surprised, but her smile didn’t waver.“Oh, come on,” she chuckled. “Don’t act like you didn’t enjoy it last time.” Her tone hinted suggestion, taking my mind back to what happened last time in this same room.Last time. HERATwo days. That’s how long I’ve been rotting in this filthy, dark dungeon with nothing but the stench of mould and decay has my company. My throat was dry, my stomach felt like it was caving in, and my body still ached from the pain of being beaten days ago, as well as the cold, hard floor pressing into my bones. I have never felt this weak in my life. Maybe physically, yes—but my mind? It was still sharp. Sharp and burning with rage.Hunger for food and thirst for water gnawed at me, but it’s nothing compared to the hunger and thirst for revenge that fueled me, that kept me alive, that whispered in my ear every second I’m trapped in this hellhole.Shadow Claw. My pack. My throne.I will get it all back, and when I do, every single person who has ever crossed me, who has ever treated me like I’m nothing, will pay. They will beg for mercy, and I will show them none. Not Lilith, not Wanni, not anyone. Their suffering will be slow, their pain will be exquisite and excruciatingly,

HERAI kept my head down as I moved between the tables, my mind racing. The room was thick with tension, and I could feel their eyes on me. Every step felt like it stretched on for hours, each second heavier than the last.“Hera,” Atticus’s deep voice cut through the silence, commanding attention. “Raise your head.”My stomach twisted. I didn’t want to meet their eyes, not here, not like this. But I knew there was no way out of it. Slowly, reluctantly, I lifted my head, my gaze sweeping across the room. There they were—all the Alphas, watching me with expressions that ranged from mockery to something even darker. Their eyes locked on me like predators circling their prey.I could recognize all of them, and they could recognize me. This was all a set up. “Well, well,” One of the Alphas spoke, his voice laced with mockery. I turned to look at him and recognized him immediately.Logan, Alpha of the Midnight Howlers, a tall, dark-haired man with a cruel smile. He had once tried to chal

ATTICUSAs soon as Hera started dancing, something shifted in me, something primal. I hated the way she moved—No, that’s a lie. I hated how much I wanted her as she moved. Every slow, deliberate sway of her hips, every roll of her body ignited a fire inside me that I couldn’t smother. My eyes were locked on her, even though I could feel the gazes of the other alphas crawling over her. I growled, fighting the urge to tear every single one of their eyes out for looking at her like that, but I couldn’t react. I had to sit there, stone-faced, feigning nonchalance, acting like she didn’t affect me. Like my member wasn’t rock hard for her. It disgusted me, this twisted attraction I had for her. She was supposed to be my enemy, the one responsible for Rachel’s death, and yet here I was, gritting my teeth and fighting back the desire to drag her out of that room and slam my hard cock into her tight pussy. The worst part? She knew exactly what she was doing. She locked eyes with me all t

ATTICUSI marched to my room. As soon as I pushed open the door to my room, I was met with the sharp sting of a slap across my face. For a brief second, I froze, more out of shock than anything else. My jaw clenched, and I slowly turned my head back to face her. Hera stood there, her eyes blazing with fury, her chest rising and falling in anger. “This will be the last time,” she hissed, her voice laced with venom, “the last time you embarrass me like that in front of those animals.”The sting of her slap faded, but the effect it had on me didn’t. If anything, the rush of heat it caused coursed through me, lighting up something primal inside. She had fire, no doubt about it, and damn it, her defiance did things to me I hated admitting. I wiped the corner of my mouth with my thumb, smirking as I stepped closer, closing the space between us. "You will regret doing that, Hera," I said, my voice low and dark. Before she could react, I turned her and roughly pushed her towards the wa

ATTICUSThe door had barely clicked shut behind me when Lilith burst in, her eyes blazing with fury.“How could you, Atticus?” Her voice was sharp, slicing through the air like a blade. “You’re disrespecting Rachel by sleeping with her murderer!”Anger blinded my common sense at the accusation, and before I could give it a second thought, I had her slammed against the wall. My hand gripped her throat, not enough to choke her, but enough to remind her who the hell she was talking to.“Watch your mouth, Lilith,” I growled, my voice cold and dangerous. Her eyes widened, a flicker of fear passing through them.Good!“You’re betraying her memory,” she hissed with a strained voice, struggling against my hold. “Rachel died because of that bitch, and now you’re crawling into bed with her like none of it ever happened?”I tightened my hold around her neck, my patience wearing thin. HERAMy mind was racing, every rational thought scattering like ash, yet I couldn’t stop. I couldn’t pull myself back, couldn’t pry myself off him. I was supposed to be furious at Atticus, to despise him for the way he made me feel so unimportant, so insignificant. How he doubted me at every turn, pushing me away as if I were nothing but a complication to him. Yet here I was, kissing him like he was the air I needed to breathe. What the hell was wrong with me?His hands were on my waist, fingers digging in as if he couldn’t bear the thought of letting me go. His mouth was relentless, heated, moving over mine with an intensity that left me trembling. It wasn’t gentle or soft; it was hungry, wild, and so damn raw that I felt every ounce of his anger, his frustration, his need—all of it, consuming me. His lips pressed firmly, his tongue sweeping over mine in a way that made me feel as if I were about to come undone right there, pinned between him and the wall.A quiet whimper escaped

ATTICUSLilith smirked, taking her time to run her gaze between Hera and me, clearly savouring every second of the tension she just caused. This might not have been why she came here, but she was definitely thrilled by the fact that Hera walked in on us too close for comfort. “I’ll let you two… talk,” she said, her voice smooth as silk. With a knowing look in her eyes, she backed out of the room, her heels clicking out of the room and her smirk lingering in the air like the trail of cheap perfume. The door shut, leaving Hera and me in a silence so thick I could choke on it.Hera’s eyes bored into mine, fury flashing in every line of her face. She stood tall, arms crossed, lips pressed in a tight line as we locked in a silent battle of wills. I was the first to speak, voice sharp."How’d you get out of the room?” I demanded, trying to keep my tone steady.A harsh, humourless laugh escaped her, and she shook her head, her expression twisting in disbelief. “That’s what you’re worried

  • THE ALPHA’S HATED CONTRACT MATE   58: Turmoil

ATTICUSI stormed down the corridor, fists clenched so tightly my knuckles ached. My mind was spinning, torn between anger and the raw, biting jealousy that had clawed its way up my throat the second I walked into Hera’s room and saw them together. I couldn’t unsee it—Ben leaning toward her, close enough to… He was going to kiss her, and she was letting him.Fuck! I ran my fingers through my hair. I have never felt this twisted in my life, and all over a woman. But this wasn’t just anyone—it was Hera. She was the last person that should make me feel this way, but yet, here we are!For the life of me, I couldn’t shake the image of her with Ben, the two of them close, almost kissing if I hadn’t walked in. And then his smug, arrogant face when I threw the first punch, and he just smiled, pushing every single one of my buttons, daring me to lose control. He enjoyed the fact that I unravelled, proving his long standing claim that I hated him. For the first time, I’d actually hit him.

HERA“Can you believe him?” I threw my hands up in the air. “He tells me to stay away from you like I’m some child he can control. One minute, he’s distant and cold, and the next, he wants to pull me in like nothing’s changed. It’s… it’s infuriating.”Ben and I were in my chamber, sitting by the fireplace, Ben simply watching me as I vented, that smile of his plastered on his face.“What?” I frowned at him, crossing my arms. “Why are you smiling?”He didn’t look fazed at all, his grin only growing. “Because it’s kind of endearing, how passionate you get about things. Even when you’re pissed off, you look…” He hesitated, as if searching for the right word. “…beautiful.”I blinked at him, caught off guard. Then a small, nervous laugh bubbled up from deep within my chest, surprising even me. “You’re ridiculous,” I muttered, shaking my head, though I couldn’t suppress the smile tugging at the corner of my lips. Ben chuckled, his eyes twinkling. “I’m glad I could make you laugh, especia

  • THE ALPHA’S HATED CONTRACT MATE   56: Green Eyed Atticus

ATTICUSThe fresh air hit me as I stepped into the garden, but it did nothing to dispel the tension coiling tight in my chest. Just up ahead, Hera and Ben strolled along the path, Hera laughing at something he must have said. Her laughter was soft, light, that carefree sound that I’d only heard a handful of times… and never directed at me. It was like hearing something forbidden, something meant for someone else—and that only made it worse. But then she noticed me. Her laughter faded, replaced by an uneasy look as her gaze met mine, and for a split second, her mood shifted entirely. She seemed… conscious, guarded, the brightness in her eyes dimming. The swift change hit me like a punch to the gut. I forced my gaze to remain steady, though the twist in my stomach tightened. Her smile faded because of me.I ignored Ben’s raised eyebrow, as he looked me over with that easy, unfazed expression. It made my irritation increase even more.“Hera,” I said, my voice low and clipped. “We ne

  • THE ALPHA’S HATED CONTRACT MATE   55: Sneaky Little Bitch

HERAThe grand hall where the reception for the coronation and wedding will be held was buzzing with activity as decorators hung drapes of deep crimson and gold. I watched them closely, nodding here and there, making slight adjustments to placements. The scent of fresh flowers lingered in the air, adding a softness to the atmosphere that did little to calm my nerves after the last few days.I was acting like the perfect trophy Luna even though I was anything but. It was beginning to get exhausting to play this part. I just can’t wait for the wedding and coronation to come and go, so that I can go back to my life. That’s if I even survive it. Just as I was about to oversee the floral arrangements, a commotion near the doorway caught my attention. Lilith had arrived, her presence commanding as always, chin held high and eyes flashing with annoyance. The guards moved immediately to block her path, crossing their arms and positioning themselves like an unmovable wall.“Out of my way,”

  • THE ALPHA’S HATED CONTRACT MATE   54: Fire and Ice

ATTICUSThe scene outside my window felt like a thorn in my flesh, one I couldn’t seem to ignore. I have been watching Hera out in the garden from the window of my study for more than twenty minutes, watching the way she shot arrows at the target, a deep scroll crossed over her forehead. But it had changed.Hera was now wearing that beautiful smile of hers that I hardly see, and there, right by her side, was Ben. The way she’d rushed to him, her arms slipping around his shoulders, the ease with which he held her in return—it dug under my skin like ice.Why the hell was he back? He should’ve been halfway across the mountains by now. The time he went was strategically planned for weeks, and nothing short of a blizzard would’ve delayed it. I turned from the window, jaw tight, just as Kai stepped into the study.“Why are you back?” I demanded, my voice sharper than I intended. Kai paused, sensing the edge in my tone.“A snowstorm,” he said, steady as always. “Hit out of nowhere, block

  • THE ALPHA’S HATED CONTRACT MATE   53: Ben's Return

HERAThe palace was buzzing with energy as I made my way down the corridors, Anisha trailing just a step behind, taking note of every correction I had to make concerning the wedding and coronation preparations. Everything had to be perfect, and it was my duty to make sure it was—even if my mind was somewhere else entirely. We stopped in the main hall, where a small group of caterers waited with plates of cake slices lined up on the table for tasting. They straightened as soon as they saw me walk in. I walked up to the table, looking at all the cakes. “Which flavour would you like, my lady?” one of the servers asked, gesturing to the neat line of miniature cakes on the tray.I glanced over the selection, catching sight of chocolate. The rich, dark swirls called to me and I leaned closer, picking up a piece of the chocolate cake. The taste was rich and decadent, melting on my tongue, and for a fleeting second, I felt a flicker of happiness. “Chocolate,” I murmured, savouring it.My
