CHAPTER 40: ALL BY MYSELF

I was worried. Deeply worried, I had not seen Killian for three days now. Everyone seemed unbothered. It felt like there was a signed agreement to keep his whereabouts a secret.

Walking out of the house, I met Killian's beta, Jared driving in. He looked happy to see me, or so I thought. He'd come to the house twice a day since Killian was gone and he also refused to let me in on the Alpha's location, telling me it was an immediate official engagement.

“Who leaves a pregnant woman, who is his mate for ‘an official engagement,’ without letting them know,” I thought to myself.

Something didn't seem right also in the pack house, the guards seemed to be having the times of their lives and would not be about their duties except when Jared was around. “What if something went wrong, would they be able to give an account of their actions,” I thought again.
