VULNERABLE

King stared at her with wide eyes, completely taken aback by her reaction, although he supposed he should have seen it coming.

“Emilia…” He paused, unable to continue with the words he wanted to say. Her name on his lips felt so loaded, so heavy on his tongue. What was he to say that would make everything better again?

She was right. He had offered her vague promises over and over and when the time came for him to fulfill his promises, he had tucked tail in fear.

He placed his hand on her thigh and froze as she watched him, just as frozen as he was, and they looked at each other. The feeling that he had felt before that feeling of love, warmth, and comfort, the content feeling of being with his mate was going haywire in his chest inside of him just because he was touching her again.

‘Calm down, Radar. We need to give her time to adjust to us once again or we will lose her. You don’t want her to run away, do you?’

Radar whined inside of him at the thought of her running away from them.
