Demi's pov
I didn't hear right. I was sure I didn't hear right. My hand ached to pull out a chair and drop myself on it while I let my mind wander around their words but instead, I stood because the option of taking a seat was out of it and I wasn't given a chance to think about the words before another bomb dropped. "You are leaving tomorrow," Logan added reaching out his hand to grab his drink. He took a sip from it before speaking further, "And you are leaving Haris behind." "No." My voice came out frail even when I intended it deeper and firmer, "I can't do that." "Do what?" The other man who I still didn't know his identify spoke, "Leave your brother behind?" "I meant killing the Alpha." I stated firmly sharpening my gaze at them, "I don't know what is going on here or what this is about and I am very confused." "You don't need to know." Logan glared at me, "Just do as you are told." "I ca-" "Demi!!" Logan growled getting up from his seat, quick long strides brought him towards me, "Do not disrespect me in front of the him! I own you and you will do as I say even if it means taking your own life!" I stood there silent with my head bowed as he spoke . "You are going there tomorrow and before you are sent off, you shall be briefed on what to do." He instructed, "Don't even think of defying me because Haris will be the one to pay the price! Now follow the rogue king and attend to his needs." I was mute all through, not saying a word knowing that my brother would be in pain for it. I did as I was instructed following his guest to his room waiting for him hand and foot and hoping to be released soon and with his Identify now being confirmed as the rogue king, I knew they were up to no good and it was something I didn't want to be part of. As I ran errands for the rogue king, I realized that I had to think of a plan that would enable me to escape their treacherous schemes for me even while I fully didn't understand them. Why would they want to kill the Alpha King and why pick me to do it? And why was an Alpha friends with a rogue and a rogue king at that?! I raised my fist knocking at the door and when he pronounced for me to enter, I did. I didn't look at him as I walked to the table to place the food he requested and when I did, I turned to him and bowed so I could take my leave cause it was already night and I wanted to meet Haris. "Strip." The man stood up with his fingers going to his shirt unbuttoning them slowly, "Now!" He repeated when I just stared at him without a response. "I am sorry, I wasn't required to do that." I gave another bow and turned to leave when he caught me by my hair fisting the mane and pulling me back, "Let me go!" "Didn't your owner teach you submission?" He questioned in my ear, "You do as I say!" "I am not doing that." I twisted to break free from his hold, "I will not lay with you!" "I wasn't asking your consent." His hand moved to my neck, pulling me back and pressing me against him and he dug his hips agaunst my back. I turned my neck sinking my teeth in his arms to bite him. He screamed and let go of me shoving me to fall over the food that I had placed on the table. It came crashing down with me on it along with its content and I winced as shards of gas pierced my skin from the broken water pitcher. "You dare defy me." He was walking towards me menacingly but I was faster and I grabbed a piece of glass squeezing it in my palm, it sliced me with blood oozing out but I didn't mind, "Come here!" He barked grabbing my arm and pulling me up and before he could act further I aimed stabbing the glass in his eyes and he let go of me screaming in terror. We are in trouble! Harlyn caved in fear as we heard footsteps immediately after he screamed. I could smell Logan as well. Soon, the door was flung open. I didn't even bother running. I just stood there watching as the man clutched to his eye where I had stabbed gritting against the ground in pain. "What happened-" Logan's words stopped when he looked at his guest on the ground and a large terrifying growl came from him suddenly his gaze turned to me staring daggers into my soul, "You did this!" "He was about to-" "Shut your mouth!" He was before me in a flash, hands gripping my neck wringing it cutting off my air supply and I tried to fight grappling at his arms so he could release me, "I don't want to hear anything! You were to serve my guest not blind him." "Please," I begged scratching at his arms as he dragged me out of the room. He threw me on the ground and called for a guard to bring a rope. The rope was brought and he tied it around my neck squeezing it tight, he hooked the end around his hand dragging me on the ground against the carpets and I struggled kicking and fighting as he dragged against the cool tiling, my already blistered skin rubbing aggressively against the floors. He pulled me outside the pack house dragging me against grass and dirt and to a building that looked very familiar. No, no, no... I couldn't shake my head as he tugged me into the building. My insides revolted, twisting in disgust and my stomach turned as I scrunched up my nose at the stench hitting my nostrils. It smelt my rotten flesh and feaces, I should be accustomed to the smell by now as I spent most of my nights here in punishment but I wasn't. He flung me by the rope and I landed on piling bodies coughing at the strain on my neck and wheezing at the terrible rotteness. "You are going to regret this!" He yanked me across the bodies, my face being buried in decaying flesg as a result and then he threw me on the ground. "Please!" I begged attempting to scamper away from him when he pulled a dagger out of his pockets. He waved it in the air, the sharp blade glistening in the dim light, "No please Alpha!" Logan's laughter peeled through the air. He went on his haunches and grabbed my hand, the same one he had cut a finger from. "Please Alpha." I had begun to weep louder knowing what he was about to do, "Ple-?" My pleas were silenced when the blade sliced through the air, the sharp metal glinted as it struck my hand in an aching crunch, a scream tore from my throat as the blade sliced through my skin biting deep into my flesh. Red crimson liquid sprayed between us as my severed hand fell off, I could see my fingers twitching through my tear-clouded eyes like a dying creature, it looked like when a gecko lost its tail and the tail kept moving. The bleeding stump was filled with an agonizing pain as it pulsed with a rhythmic gout of blood while the very life force escaped from it slowly. "Serves you right!" He growled before walking out the door and shutting it hard behind him leaving me alone in the dark room. Alone with piles of rotting bodies of pack traitors that have been killed and weren't properly buried. I have been here almost all the time, anytime I did something severe he threw me in here to spend nights with the rotting bodies, and that contributed to me being stinky. I shifted closer to the wall like I always did, muffling my cries holding onto my arm stump and staring at the hanging skin with blood flowing from it. My gaze went to my dead hand but it wasn't there anymore. It was gone, it was gone and nothing could suppress the pain in my heart knowing that he was going to force Haris to eat my hand. ______ My eyes cracked open and I could see the stream of moonlight coming into the dark room. My gaze followed the trail to see that the door was slightly open. It's your chance, go! Harlyn said immediately and I stood up letting myself out quietly. Logan usually locked the door after throwing me in and this time he didn't and I took the opportunity. Ignoring the pain in my arm, a dull ache that flowed beating aggressively like hot white agony searing through the parts left of my limb. It was consuming pain that almost halted my will to live but I had to go on. I had now bandaged the stump with the torn hem of my dress, I rushed to my room where I knew Haris would be with only one thing in my mind, escape! Escape! Escape! I got to the room and let myself in only to see Haris huddled close to the wall with teary eyes and blood-stained lips. He had his hands around his legs and was sitting in a fear-stricken state. "Demi." He cried out but I put my hand over his mouth to shush him telling him through the mind link that we were running away, "I am sorry for eating your hand, he forced me." He mentioned in tears when I got my hand off his mouth. "It's okay." I comforted him as we snuck out of the room and headed quickly outside the pack house and soon we were nearing the borders of the pack house. Immediately we got there, I stopped and looked back at the place that had brought me nothing but misery and lost limbs and then I pronounced the golden words. "I, Demi Carson accept your rejection, Alpha Logan of Darkwater pack, and I forever sever the bond between us." The moment of I pronounced those words, I instantly felt like a weight was being lifted off my chest and I felt free. I took Harris's hand in mine and made a run for it crossing the borders without looking back and making us rogues.Demi's pov The darkness of the night sky descended enveloping the area just like the fear in me did, encasing my heart and sending prickles of anxiety shivering down my spine. I could feel Haris's small fingers on me, they gripped at my skin causing indents as he clung onto me for dear life, his heart racing as well, I could hear it as it was louder than the sounds of the nights with the crickets chirping and the distant hooting of the owls. The sky was starless and the moon was shy, hiding behind the clouds. It was a night as dark as our lives, a night that represented everything we had been through.I had my hand over Harris's mouth, pressing my palm against his lips so as to stop him from screaming when I heard movement in the bushes. I could feel the mud on my body drying up and on Haris's as well. My wolf had suggested rubbing ourselves in mud to mask our scents since Logan would be looking for us by now.We had only made away for a day and a night and now
Demi'spov Mate. Harlyn repeated, purring in a low voice. The aura emanating from the wolf atop me enveloped us and I bowed my head in submission before looking up at him. He didn't say a word, his deep green inviting eyes bore deep into my browns captivating me in the most intense gaze I had ever found myself locked in. I couldn't stop myself, I raised my good hand moving it to touch him but he recoiled immediately leaping off me like he was disgusted. I quickly sat up and Haris ran to my side to join me as the brown wolf, my mate let out a terrifying growl that reverberated through the forest causing me to tremble in fear. As he continued to growl, he prowled backward assuming a defensive stance and I moved towards him, "What happened?" I whispered softly stretching out my hand in an attempt to touch him again. "Back off!" The wolf barked letting out another terrifying growl causing Haris to cling to me. And almost immediately, the other wolves followed suit, their g
Demi’s povAs we walked, I could hear a rustle in the bushes and I held Haris close stopping him while paying close attention to if I would hear it again when I didn't, I moved forward but each time we did, we heard the rustle."Maybe it's squirrels." Haris shrugged as we went on, "Where are we going sis?"Before I could answer, loud growls filled the air, and wolves jumped out from the bushes. They didn't look like the ones we had encountered before. These ones looked mangy and horrible, with red eyes and dirty fur.Rouges!I moved back taking Haris with me and they followed suit keeping their eyes on us."Please, let us go." I pleaded, "We mean no harm.""Get her!" The one who looked like their leader growled and just as they leaped another wolf leapt from the bushes and landed in front of us halting their attack. He growled and bared his canines prowling in front of Haris and I.Where did he come from? I stood there looking at my mate as he growled menacingly at the wolves shieldi
Demi's povIt was a beautiful dream.A beautiful dream of freedom.I felt softness around me, the enchanting smell of fresh flowers teasing my nostrils, a contrast to the odor I was accustomed to. I could feel warmth and a hint of slight discomfort from something that was stuck in my arm but it wasn't a big deal.I slowly forced my eyelids open, wanting to catch a glimpse of my environment and my gaze was rewarded with pure white ceilings with carefully illustrated designs that were drawn out in flower patterns beckoning my fingers to trace their outlines and marvel at the art work. When looked to the side, I could see the sunlight streaming through the large window, its warm rays illuminating the room and creating an inviting atmosphere, and my gaze extended to the lush view of a castle on sight. It was gigantic, its walls and towers standing tall and Magnificent peeking from within the greenery surrounding it.I looked back to the room, the incandescent space with walls painted of
Demi’s povI felt the person's presence by my bedside, humming to herself.I could feel the line connected to my arm being moved and then she proceeded to check my other vitals."Oh, I know you are awake." She whispered sounding so soft yet audible. She released the line from my hand and brought it down, "Rest well dear, you will be back on your feet in no time."She kept the arm gently and soon I heard retreating steps and the door being closed. After waiting a while to be sure that she was gone, I opened my eyes and carefully let myself down, my feet touched the soft plush rug creating a soothing feel to the skin and a contented sigh left my lips.I stood firmly, marking my balance before going over to where Haris lay and my eyes softened when I looked at him.I couldn't remember him being this peaceful in his sleep, his breathing was normal, his face looked calm and he looked like he had enough to eat these past few days as evidence for my thoughts, I could see his hand with his fi
Demi's pov After, the cruel she-wolf who I was yet to know what name she went by took her leave. I stayed on the floor, my head buried between my knees with tears rolling down my cheeks at the thought of me being a problem to my mate.I stink.Months without a proper wash, being injected with different potions to weaken me, poor living conditions, no food or rotten food, and terrible punishments all contributed to my bad smell which will definitely take a long while to wash off if I could ever wash the stench off.I was ugly. The scars were there and evident on every part of me, marking my face, back, hands, and entire body creating a hideous look to my being.I was weak.I didnt have my wolf, I was twenty-two and I hadn't Shifted. My wolf was only present in my head which led to people calling me a wild loony.I could feel Haris's hand on me as I cried, his small palm rubbing my back in attempt to soothe me, "It's okay sis, it's not your fault." I smiled through my tea
Demi’s povAfter waiting a long while, the door to my room creaked open and the woman came in giving me an opportunity to look at her for the first time. She offered me a smile, one that matched her dazzling angelic face. Her hair was white, pulled back and tied in a bun. Her blue eyes twinkled when her smile widened and she walked over to where Haris was."Oh, my little cutie is asleep already." She rubbed her hand over his head, "Sleep well dear."She sounded like a fairy godmother and her presence eased me."I am Elara And how are you doing today dear?" Her attention was turned to me as she got closer to my bedside, "I know your hand was hurt, do you mind telling me all about it?"In as much as I found her calming, I cowered away in fear as she brought her hand out to touch my forehead and she dropped it to her side, a sad look on her face."You know I have a daughter your age." She began to speak in her sweet soft tone, "Sweet girl she is, just like you are. But she's away for her
Demi's pov Elara's words had sparked a flicker of hope in my mind and I found myself grabbing the bag and heading out to find the bathroom with the prepared bath.I entered one of the rooms and my nostrils picked up the scents of lavenders leading me to the bathroom and when I opened it I saw the most luxurious bath I had ever had the opportunity to lay eyes upon.I hurriedly stripped out of my patient clothes.I wore the cover she had talked about over my arm wincing at the dull ache before sliding into the bathtub, a contended smile came across my lips and I sighed as soon as the warmth of the water grazed my skin and the scent of lavender drowned my nostrils."This is divine," I muttered using my fingers to play with the bubbles that formed on the water then I reached out to the washcloth so I could clean myself.I had difficulty wiping myself because of my arm but I still managed to do it.I scrubbed my hair, and my face, and dragged the clothes across my armpit
