VEGA

She opened the door to her room to peep outside to see what was going on around the house, but all she saw were busy pack workers in a haste to entertain the guests.

Strangely, she wasn't called out by Victoria this time to do chores, since it was a given for her to be involved in activities like this. Her sister must be trying her hardest to please this Lycan Alpha King.

Just as she was about to go out due to Jackie's restlessness, she saw Victoria with her friends, they were trying to fix her makeup so she would be looking beautiful in front of the guests as she had said.

Vega couldn't help but wonder how old the Lycan King might be to make her sister this busy trying to look attractive. From what she knows about Victoria, she isn't Someone who falls for an ugly duck, but then she's sure Victoria hasn't met the Lycan Royal before.

Suddenly, she walked past her and headed to the gathering where guests and pack members were chattering.

Victoria gave her a harsh glare before walking towards the hall, with high heels which made a click-clack sound on the hard floor.

Vega decided to walk behind her, knowing her sister was off to make a triumphant entry into the party.

"Don't walk slowly, Vega, follow her..."Vega heaved a long sigh before doing as her wolf had commanded. She wondered what Jackie was up to this time.

Just as she approached the hall, Jackie became more restless. She urged Vega to walk faster into the hall, and so they did. Vega could sense something was going on, and so she hastened her step.

Just as she came into view, the smell of vanilla mixed with a minty kind of scent hit her nostrils, and Jackie immediately said the words "Mate!"

Vega's heart fluttered, so just as she had thought, her mate really came, he came for her. Vega walked faster in the direction of the scent, the more she approached, the stronger the scent.

All of a sudden, she saw Victoria 10 metres ahead of her. She stretched her form to see to whom the scent belonged, but Victoria was blocking her view.

Vega became very nervous, she wondered who he was; she needed to see her mate and what he looked like. Why was Victoria in her view?

Suddenly, the scent peppered her nose as she noticed it was getting closer, she turned around thinking he was behind her, but there was no one behind, and so she turned back to her previous direction only to be shocked out of her wits.

Vega opened her eyes wide at what was in front of her, her supposed mate was holding Victoria lovingly. Vega shifted backwards, her heart beating so fast as though it were going to chatter any moment.

Horror, sadness, pain, and heartache overshadowed her at that moment. All of a sudden, Jackie was telling her to lunge at her sister to make him see her, but she shook her head.

At that very moment, Vega took to her heels and ran out of the party. She ran as fast as her legs could take her, into the woods. Tears dropped to her face like rain battering her. She screamed at the top of her voice and immediately shifted to her wolf.

Vega growled in pain, suddenly the weather changed, and a heavy storm came, bringing with it thunderstorms and lightning.

Her last hope was gone; her mate was gone. How could life be so unfair to her, just why......?

Vega stayed in the woods for hours, not wanting to go back to the pack house until the party was over. After she was tired of running, she came back to the tree where she normally kept her backpack, but today she didn't bring any supplies with her.

Vega shifted back to her human form and rested behind the tree, her white dress torn and dirty from her shifting. She took a glance at the dress her mom had made for her now messy.

She regretted ever wearing the dress to the party, she regretted ever dressing herself up for the party. If only they hadn't bothered about going out in hopes of finding her mate, maybe she wouldn't have found him in the arms of her sister.

"We should make her pay Vega," Jackie said, still in a rage.

"No, we can't, She's still my sister."

"You Still see her as a sister when she did nothing but steal your mate?"

Vega couldn't stop the tears from escaping her eyes, it was really painful that Victoria could do such a thing to her. Suddenly, an idea struck her.

"Could it be that we are mated to the same person?" That could be the reason he went to Victoria instead of her.

"Hell no, it's not her destiny to be mated to a Lycan, it's only yours!" Jackie replied in anger.

Then why did she do that, she knew he wasn't her mate, then why did she let her mate hug her? Did Victoria hate her this much?

Well, there was no need to stress over the issue; she would set things straight with Victoria and let her know the man she hugged was her mate.

Another thought struck Vega instantly. If she could remember clearly, Victoria was only looking forward to meeting the Lycan King, then why did she allow herself to be hugged by another Lycan?

Too bad she didn't even get to see her mate's appearance properly, so she could tell how he looked if only she wasn't blinded by emotions and ran away from the party.

Just as she was about to head to the house, a sharp pain hit her on her chest and sent her down on the ground writhing in pain.

"Jackie! What's happening to us?" Jackie was also whimpering in so much pain like she was. Jackie let out a muffled sound of something she could barely understand. The pain surged through her heart like it would burst at any moment.

"Our mate has marked the wrong person...!" Jackie muttered distressed.

Vega gasped in horror. Could it have been worse? How could he mark someone else? Vega writhed in pain as more tears flowed freely from her eyes.

Indeed, she was truly an unlucky one, the whole coming of the Lycan king had brought nothing but more pain to her. Why was the moon goddess so cruel to her, why....?

Vega remained on the ground until darkness enveloped her with pain.

Vega woke up to a bright morning, only to find herself in her room with the pack's healer by her side. She tried to remember what happened last night, but all that came to mind was the pain she had felt the night before.

"Thank the goddess you are awake Vega, I thought you wouldn't be awake until a week". Vega took a glance at the pack's healer, confused about what she was talking about.

"How long have I been asleep for?" She asked.

"You've been out for three days now."

What three days! How did she black out for that long? She tried to mind-link Jackie, but her wolf was not in the mood for a talk. It was clear how saddened she must have been after what happened to them.

"Vega, I understand what happened to you was unfortunate, but you have to be strong." Healer Petra said, looking at Vega in a concerned way.

Vega couldn't just sit back. She had to know what happened and who the girl was who was marked by her mate. Her mind drifted to Victoria, but she wasn't so sure about it; a confirmation about who it was was the only thing to keep her sane.

She tried to get up from her bed, but couldn't, not because she didn't want to but because she still felt the impact of what happened to her.

"Where are you going?" The middle-aged lady in front of her looked at her.

"To find my father," She said, trying to stand straight.

"I'm afraid you can't see him now." Vega raised a brow at Petra suspiciously.

"Why can't I?" Petra seemed to be nervous about what she was about to say.

"Tell me why I can't." Vega asked in a little panic.

"Because there's going to be another celebration, and he's busy preparing for it." Vega couldn't believe her ears, what kind of celebration could take him away from his daughter who had been unconscious for three days? That led to her next question for Petra.

"What are we celebrating?"

"Look, Vega, it's best you rest and don't think of anything." Is Petra kidding her right now? How does she expect her to be calm when things are not going right for her?

"Tell me what's the celebration for Petra?" When Petra saw the anger in Vega's eyes and her commanding tone, she had no choice but to reveal what was happening.

"It's... yo...your sister Victoria."

Vega's heart skipped, this wasn't right. Whenever Victoria's name was mentioned, it never meant anything good.

"What about her?"

"She happened to be the chosen mate of the Lycan king, so he had decided to marry your sister and take her back to his kingdom with him." Petra said in one go, knowing this would only worsen the situation.

Vega immediately left her bed and marched outside, her head was in shambles. Her sister Victoria was mated to the Lycan king? Who was this Lycan king? Could he be her mate? The man she saw hugging her?

Vega ran to her father's bedroom but couldn't find him there; she looked as though she had gone mad. She kept asking herself who her mate was, who he marked, who she was that he marked, and what the Lycan king had to do with all this.

After searching all possible places for her father without finding a trace of him, she decided to go to his study room; yes, that's where he would be.

Vega raced down to her father's study room, and fortunately, he was there. She made her way into his study room, even though she never did in the past without him sending for her.

She found her father, writing out the names of dignitaries on what seemed to be a wedding invitation card. Her heart constricted in pain, but she had to compose herself. She hasn't confirmed anything yet, and so she had to keep her heart in good shape.

When Alpha Blake saw his daughter storm into his office, he knew she must have found out something. That blabbermouth Petra, he had strictly warned the healer to keep what was happening at the pack a secret from Vega.

Ever since the night he found his daughter passed out in the woods, he knew something had happened. He had rushed her to the pack healer, who told him her problem was within.

Luckily for him, his late mate was a witch, and so, she had so many books about the lives of the werewolves. He skimmed through some books and found out what happened to Vega was a result of her mate marking someone else.

When he knew about this, he initially became confused, but then Victoria came in and broke the news to him about her getting marked by the Lycan Alpha.

Alpha Blake knew more about his daughters than anyone. He had seen his daughter's wolf, and from history, he knew only the white wolf was mated to a Lycan.

Alpha Blake didn't have to be told twice that his daughter Victoria was marked by the wrong mate. Now he understood the reason for Vega's unconsciousness, but how could he tell his daughter she was marked by the wrong mate?

In order to keep the secret well hidden, he had to go on with the marriage preparation because he knew chaos would fall upon his pack and Victoria if the Alpha found out about this.

VEGA "Can you please tell me who this Lycan king is?" Her father did not reply to her, but rather continued with what he was doing. Vega knew things wouldn't go as she planned, if her father was this quiet, then it only meant there was something fishy going on. "You knew that what happened to me was related to my sister's new-found mate, right?" This question seemed to have worked as her father raised his head to face her. She could tell from his expression that he wasn't expecting such a question from her. "Why don't you go get some rest?" "Rest?" How could her father treat her this way? when he knows fully what she was talking about? "I can't rest, father, please tell me Victoria isn't getting married to my mate!?" He froze, and the look in his eyes made her realise that she had been right all along. Uncontrollable tears flowed freely from her eyes at this knowledge. This was heart-wrenching, it was bad enough that he preferred he

REYNOLD After getting the much-needed information about the white snow Alpha and his pack, Reynold decided to set out with his men. Arriving at white snow pack with his beta and some of his followers, he felt different the moment he got into the pack house. His wolf had gone crazily excited for reasons he couldn't tell. He was warmly welcomed by the Alpha and his pack members. They didn't waste time getting into business the moment he came. Fortunately, Alpha Blake had promised to be of help to him in searching for those unknown assassins. Reynold appreciated the help Alpha Blake was willing to give him—not that he trusts him to the maximum, but for the reason that his investigations about him came out positive, he decided to give him the benefit of the doubt by trusting his help. They were each given an executive guest room, which they resided in for the time being since the pack house was impressively gigantic and spacious inside. Later that

VEGA "You will know when you meet him." Her father said, making his face expressionless. She wished she could ask more questions. Was she in trouble? Could it be that he had actually seen her? For goddess' sake, can she stop putting herself and her pack in trouble? "Don't forget to act natural, Vega; I believe you know what I mean." This made her a little confused, if she was in trouble, her father sure wouldn't say that to her. Immediately she ran back into her room, she showered as quickly as she could, not wanting to delay him. As she was thinking of what to wear, she couldn't help but wonder for what reason the Lycan king requested her presence. She thought of what to wear; she initially picked up a blue flowery gown but immediately dropped it back down when she realised she had no reason to look good in front of him since he'd already mated to her sister. She had to understand that there's nothing between them anymore, even though it still

VEGA Vega concluded that leaving home was the best option for her. She packed up a few of her belongings and left the pack in the middle of the night. FIVE YEARS LATER The alarm on the table clock buzzed at 6 a.m., and a sleepy Vega lazily stretched forth her hands to put it off so she could get a good sleep. It worked the first time, since she slept for another hour. The alarm buzzed again, and this time, in trying to put it off, she fell with a thud, carrying the bed cover with her. "Ouch!..." Vega immediately stood up from the floor, rubbing her back, which hit the cold hard floor. Suddenly, she heard a knock on her room door. "Vega, are you okay?" Came Sandy's voice. "May I come in?" "Yes, you can." Vega muffled, still feeling the impact from the fall. She only just realised it was morning when she picked up the alarm clock. Just as she stared at the clock in shock, Sandy came in. "Oh my... you are late again..." San

She asked. "To White Star." Vega froze. She thought she might have heard him wrong. "To where?" "White Star, that renowned magazine company." Immediately Vega paled, her hands trembled, and beads of sweat instantly rushed to her forehead. Why was this happening to her? She thought she had escaped from her past but she was wrong; her past had suddenly started hunting her. "What's wrong, Vega? You are scaring me." She tried to compose herself, but her hands wouldn't stop shaking. "I'm fine." She managed to say as she wiped off the sweat on her forehead. "Why do you want to go there?" She asked very curious to know. "Well over the years, the Lycan king was known for rejecting the offers given by other companies." "This time, I b

REYNOLD For a werewolf, finding their mate was the best thing that could ever happen to them, but for Lycan King Reynold, it seemed to be a different story entirely. He had thought having a mate would complete him, but from the day he left white snow pack, his emptiness and loneliness grew worse. His supposed mate wasn't what he wished she would be, and to top it all, she had completely brought nothing but shame and disgrace to him. In times when he needed her, she was either partying with the mateless she wolves or going to one club or another; she didn't act as a Luna should. Reynold had tried to understand her by giving her the benefit of the doubt that this behaviour was due to her being in a different environment, but that seemed to be wrong. Whenever he called her to attend business meetings with him so she could be by his side as his Luna, she would always give excuses not to attend. This had brought him immense sadness and sorrow; somet

VEGA Vega could not believe her ears—did the Lycan Alpha just request to have her in his company? This can't be; when she saw how he looked at her, she could tell that those eyes held hate for her, but for what reason? She wondered. When Rafael and her were leaving the company, it was as though the company employees had just seen her for the first time; some glared at her, while others looked very surprised. She shivered badly, she never expected things to end up this way, never thought he would make her the bargaining chip for a partnership with Rafael. When they finally got outside, Rafael pounded his fist so hard on his car. "You knew, didn't you?" She asked Rafael between shivers. He didn't say anything but heaved a sigh. She moved closer to him, and anger surged through her system. "You knew I have a twin and that twin is his Luna." Rafael just stared at her with a guilty expression. REYNOLD Reynold could not believe how daring Vega was to talk back to him, not only that, she fucking yelled at him. How dare she! Thinking about how she walked out on him, made him mad with fury. She was really rebellious like he was told, and how dare she make him feel guilty? Those tears came from her eyes when he told her about how wild she was. She had cried, and he felt bad. He wondered what type of spell she used on him to make him feel so sorry for what he had said? No one had dared to be that rude to him before, not even Victoria. He couldn't understand why he suddenly became soft and speechless whenever he saw her. Seeing how she stared at his wolf portray him feel so good, he has never felt so good about anyone staring at his portrait like Vega did. This was alarming to him, he had better shut her out of his memory, though he wished she had agreed to work for him. Her smooth skin and her silky hair were how he wanted his model to be.

The reason he didn't bother to be with her yet was because he wanted her to accept him of her own free will. But he noticed that the more he delayed and waited, the more obvious the possibility became that she would never ask for his attention or accept him anytime soon. Reynold stared at his gold wristwatch, which was perfectly tied around his wrist. The time was now 4 p.m. already, and this meant that he had to be on his way home soon. While he was in the office getting things done, his beta walked into the office. "Stanley, perfect!" Reynold immediately left his desk and directed his beta to take a s

Vega, with the officer in front leading her, got into the section of the cell where Victoria was. The moment she got to the entrance of the cell, Victoria immediately strode to the gate of her cell, made with iron rods of equal size. "So you are finally here, prodigal sister."
