Chapter 2
Kirsty
Dom called me 2 days later with a job. I was so excited, I had prioritized my bills in order of urgency, yeah, I’m a bit of a dork. Dom explained that he would send everything over via email. He sent it over later that afternoon and I quickly got to work. I had instructions not to call him once I had finished, he would see it himself.
I only had one rule to follow, do not call him. He would be in touch with me. However, if there was an emergency, I could email him and ask him to call me. I did find that a bit odd, but I just assumed it was because he was constantly busy. I still wasn’t sure what he did and what his company did either, all I knew was that my job was ridiculously easy. I was sent a name and was told to dig up as much information as I could. First name sent to me was an Owen Reed, age 38 from New Jersey.
I typed the name into one of the databases I used whilst in college and a heap of names came up. I had to decide which one by finding more information. I then used the information given to find the person I was looking for. 3 results. The first, born in February 1982 in Saint Peters hospital to David and Susan Reed. Next was born in April 1982, also In Saint Peters hospital to Steven and Melanie Reed. Last was born in September 1982 at home to Harry and Cheryl Reed. I cross examined each one to find the one Dom could be talking about.
The first one was a window cleaner who now lived in New York City with his wife and two sons. I couldn’t see him being of any interest.
The second one had died around 9 months before. I looked into his death; he was hit by a car. No foul play involved. He was unmarried and had no children. There were no signs that he would even run in the same circles as Dom or have anything to do with anything shady.
The last one, however, bought something to my attention. He lived in Ohio now, was made redundant from Telfords a few months back. I decided to look into him further. By the time I had finished, I knew everything about Owen Reed, from his previous job role, to his best friend from middle school. I even found out about an ex-colleague of Owen’s called Dominic Travers. I wondered if this was the Dom who I had spoken to. I sent everything I had to Dom.
I couldn’t do anymore work so I closed my laptop for the night and headed to get some food from the kitchen. I grabbed the frozen pizza from the freezer and threw it in the oven. My cell phone rang.
“Hello?”
“Ah, Miss Brooks. How are you this evening?”
“I’m very good thank you, sir. And yourself?” I asked politely.
“Very good. Thank you for asking. Well done on your findings about Owen Reed. He assures me they are all correct and you even found out things that he wasn’t aware of. You are very good at finding people, so I would like to offer you the job.”
I stared at the phone confused, what? I thought I already had the job.
“You had a different job.” He explained, as if he sensed my confusion.
“I’m sorry, I don’t quite understand.”
He chuckled. “I need someone who can find everything out about people. I needed to test you before you were given the name of someone I actually needed finding- I had to make sure you were as good as I had thought. Turns out, you were even better.”
I blushed at the praise. “Thank you, Mr. Travers.” I added sneakily. He laughed out loud this time. “And you have found me too! Even better!” he cried in delight. He struck me as someone slightly eccentric.
He told me he would be in touch with my next task and to look out for his emails. I would also be paid $300 for my work tonight. The same sort of emails came through every week. I would then have $300 or sometimes $400 transferred into my bank account within minutes of me sending over my findings. It was the easiest job.
It was around 6 weeks after I met Dom when I received the name Tom Jackson. He was the old CEO of a company, Telfords. The same Telfords that Owen and Dom had worked at. I didn’t know if this was another test, but it was very coincidental. I ran though the financial and property searches for everything in is name. I found a hell of a lot on this man, he sounded like a piece of work.
I sent the email off to Dom.
“MR THOMAS OLIVER JACKSON, AGE 36, FROM KENTUCKY. FORMER CEO OF TELFORD’S. MARRIED TWICE, CURRENT WIFE IS MRS HOLLY JACKSON, AGE 23 FROM RHODE ISLAND. SHE IS 13 YEARS HIS JUNIOR. HE HAS 3 CHILDREN, TWO FROM HIS PREVIOUS MARRIAGE TO SARAH JACKSON, ALSO AGED 36, FROM CALIFORNIA. SHE WAS A FORMER BEAUTY QUEEN. HIS FIRST CHILD IS ONLY 4 YEARS YOUNGER THAN HIS CURRENT WIFE. HE HAD A GIRLFRIEND BACK IN COLLEGE, A CALLIE HOLDSWORTH, HE KNOCKED HER UP WHEN THEY WERE 17 AND THEN DUMPED HER. SHE HAS FILED NUMEROUS COURT ORDERS FOR HIM TO PAY MAINTAINANCE, BUT HE HASN’T PAID SINCE HIS DAUGHTER WAS 4 YEARS OLD. HE DEFINITELY HAS THE MEANS TO PAY, HE HAS JUST UNDER $12.7 MILLION DOLLARS IN HIS BANK ACCOUNTS, 3 PLATINUM CREDIT CARDS, A YACHT, A BEL AIR MANSION, 6 LUXURY CARS, 3 HOLIDAY HOMES AND HIS EX-WIFE CURRENTLY RECIEVES $250,000 A YEAR IN SPOUSAL MAINTAINANCE. HIS CURRENT RESIDENCE IS IN THE BEL AIR MANSION WHERE HE LIVES WITH HIS WIFE. THE OTHER TWO CHILDREN, AGES 11 AND 7, LIVE WITH THEIR MOTHER, SARAH, IN A 6 BEDROOM CONDO IN LOS ANGELES. SHE TOO, HAS A BOYFRIEND WHO IS A LOT YOUNGER, AGE 26.
JACKSON HASN’T WORKED SINCE TELFORD’S FILED FOR BANKRUPTCY. HE IS CURRENTLY TRYING TO FIND FINANCING DIRECTORS FOR ANOTHER COMPANY HE IS TRYING TO SET UP, USING HIS OWN NAME AS THE COMPANY BRAND. IT WILL BE THE SAME AS TELFORD’S BUT HE WANTS TO SET THIS UP CLOSE TO HIS HOME IN LOS ANGELES. HE HAD OVER 400 STAFF AT TELFORDS, MOST OF THEM WERE NOT GIVEN THE CORRECT AMOUNT OF MONEY WHEN MADE REDUNDANT, SOME, NEVER RECEIVED ANYTHING, DUE TO REASONS THAT DON’T SEEM TO EXIST. ONE NAME THAT CAME UP THAT DIDN’T RECEIVE A PAYMENT WAS DOMINIC TRAVERS, FORMER EMPLOYEE WHO WORKED AT TELFORD’S FOR FIFTEEN YEARS. WAS FIRED FOR REASONS NOT STATED, BUT HE WAS FIRED ONLY ONE WEEK BEFORE THE COMPANY FILED FOR BANKRUPTCY.”
I sent files along with the email, documenting everything I had found. My cell rang a little while later.
“I would like to meet up tomorrow at 11am. In the same place as last time. I have a proposition for you.”
“I can do 11. See you tomorrow sir.”
-------
The next morning, I woke up early. I decided to wear something professional, I wore a pair of skinny black pants and a sleeveless shirt, same heels as I wore last time. I called a cab from my apartment and waited for it to arrive. The yellow cab pulled up outside my apartment 15 minutes later, I hopped in, giving the address of the café I was due to meet Dom in around 45 minutes time. I planned on arriving early so I brought my laptop with me. If I needed to find some extra information, I had it then.
Dom arrived at exactly 11am. He glanced round, looking for me. I held my hand up, grabbing his attention. He smiled, nodded once, and headed to the counter. He came to join me after placing is order. “I hope you don’t mind; I am hungry so have ordered a bagel. I have ordered one for you too as I would rather not eat alone. I also ordered some coffees for us both.” “Thank you, sir.” I smiled gratefully. I was too busy trying to get prepared for the meeting that I had forgotten to eat any breakfast.
“Let’s get to it shall we?”
I nodded.
“As you have found, my name is Dominic Travers. I was an employee of Tom Jackson for fifteen years until he dismissed me unfairly. I would have fought the dismissal, but the company filed for bankruptcy only a week later. 4 others were also dismissed unfairly, Owen Reed, Tony Elliot and Matthew Bentley. We were all head of our departments and he fired us all within weeks of the bankruptcy. We are owed around $105,000 between the 4 of us.” My jaw fell open with this information. He continued. “I want Jackson to pay and we need your help. The $100 an hour will not be your wage from now on. Every time you work for us, we will pay you $10,000.” My jaw fell open again for the second time in as many minutes. Just then, the waitress bought our drinks and bagels over. “Cream cheese and smoked salmon. I hope it’s to your taste.” Dom offered.
We ate in silence while I tried to digest everything Dom had told me. He continued, “I must warn you though, what we will be doing is illegal. We will try to keep your name out of it as much as we can. We have another computer hacker, I can’t disclose his name, but he will be on one end, you on the other. I need you to hack into his accounts and transfer money across. It won’t be the whole lot, it will be a strange amount that will be transferred into an offshore account, you will have to do the work to make it untraceable. What do you think?”
I sat perfectly still in shock. He wanted to pay me $10k? I know it was breaking the law, but Tom Jackson thoroughly deserved it. “Can I think about it?” I asked.
“Of course, I will contact you in 24 hours to see if you want the job. I will give you my card which has my cell number on it. Call me if you have any questions.”
He finished off his coffee and stood. I stood also, I shook his hand and he quickly left out of the doors. I sank back on to my chair. I had a lot to think about.
Chapter 3KirstyI had decided to do the extra work with Dom, the illegal kind. I desperately needed the money, and why the hell not? The bastard who we were targeting deserved it. Dom had told me about the other guy, didn’t mention a name, but it shouldn’t be too hard to find. I needed to know he was as good as I am. After a bit of digging into Dom’s search history, I found the name Ryan Cobain from Texas. Moved to Ohio for a job, that is how he met Dom. He also worked for the prick, Jackson. It had been three weeks since we started the whole thing. It was going to be the last time tonight. Dom said he didn’t need us anymore, which was fine. He had paid me $10k every time, which meant I had $30,000 currently sitting in an untraceable account. I would be able to pay my debts off and be able to support myself whilst searching for the next job.I was sitting at my laptop, waiting patiently for the ca
Chapter 4TankIt was around 9pm when Bella, Axel’s girl, came running through the clubhouse. Axel running behind her, shouting for Ink. One of my brothers pointed to Ink’s office, he was frowning at Bella and Axels’ behavior too. I sat up straight, something was up. Bella didn’t tend to flap like this. Her and Axel barged into Ink’s office without even knocking. Whatever it was, shit was serious.Ink came to the door a few minutes later and shouted for Buzz. Buzz had been upstairs in his office and was unaware of Axel and Bella’s panic. One of my brothers went and banged on Buzz’s door to tell him Ink needed him. Buzz then entered Ink’s office too.At this point, I had enough. I was concerned, same as my other brothers. I decided to find out what the fuck was going on. I heard the bikes first. Then I heard the gate being smashed open. “Everyone get down!” Ink ye
Chapter 5TankI had been in the hospital for four weeks now. It was driving me insane. My beautiful nurse, Jenny, was on her way to speak to the doctor for me to find out when I could get out of here. Jenny was a great nurse, and she was gorgeous too. I had asked her to go out with me a few times, but she just smiled and told me that she couldn’t as I was her patient. I knew that wouldn’t last forever though, the moment I was discharged, I was making her mine. The door to my room opened, and the doctor and Jenny entered. “Mr Wright. How are you feeling?” he asked. “I’m good thanks Doc. Just wanna get outta here now.” “I understand.” He picked my file up that was at the bottom of the bed and flicked through it. “Everything in here tells me you are healed now, but I just want to do a quick examine myself before I release the discharge papers. Shall we get started?”
Chapter 6KirstyIt had been six months since Dom’s arrest. I hadn’t heard from him since. I hadn’t heard about anything since then either. I had gone back to living my life. I had spoken to Ryan about a month after, he had told me what had happened to him, that he was also arrested but released without charge too. He told me to save his number in case I ever needed him, claiming he owed me one after I ‘saved his hairy ass’ as he so eloquently put it, making me laugh.I paid off my debts as I promised myself I would, using the money I was paid for working with Dom. It took a while before I wanted to access it, and even then, I only did small amounts each time. I assumed the police would still be watching me, so I didn’t want to do anything that would make them suspicious.I finally found another legitimate job two months after Dom was arrested. I was living in an apartment half a mile a
Chapter 7 TankJulia and I had been seeing each other for a few weeks now. It was easy, fun. She would call me up on her way home from work and ask me to meet her at her place. I’d fuck her, giving her the release she desperately craved, and then I would go back home. There were no sleepovers, no cuddling, nothing. It was brilliant.I was working out in the clubhouse’s onsite gym when I heard my name being called. “Tank!” “Down in the gym!” I called back to Axel. I still smiled every time somebody called me Tank. It reminded me of my mom and dad. I was a big baby when I was born, a 9 pounder. Solid. My dad would say I was built like a tank, and its stuck with me since.Thinking of my parents made me feel down. They died a few years back in a car accident. A truck hit them, the driver of the truck had just lost control of the vehicle. There was no foul play, just a case of wrong place,
Chapter 8TankWe drove back to my place in silence. I was beyond exhausted. I needed to make sure Julia was safe from now on though. I decided to have a few hours sleep and then go to the hardware store in town to get what I needed to fix the door. I worked security at the club and knew how to make places more secure. I knew Buzz had wired his place in computers and cameras, but that didn’t stop people getting in. I kicked myself when I realized I could have stopped them. Why the fuck hadn’t I already done this?I lay in bed for an hour struggling to find sleep. My mind wouldn’t stop racing. I was blaming myself and that was the wrong thing to do. I blamed myself when Wolf died and barely got out of that guilt alive. I wouldn’t have if it weren’t for Axel and my brothers at the club. And when my parents died, I blamed myself too. Why? I have no idea, but it helped me avoid the guilt at being the on
Chapter 9KirstyThe guy Ink told me he was sending was on his way. His name is Tank. Buzz called me to tell me about Tank, he is his girlfriend’s brother and one of his best mates. He also told me what had happened to him and Julia on the night that I spoke to him, I got a rose stapled to my door again that night, so Ink doesn’t think it’s the same 3 men who have been coming after me. Besides, Ohio is over an hour away from North Carolina by air. Jackson probably hired another group of men for them. The man who wanted to fuck me, Mike, had never so much as suggested violence, and never made any threats about hurting me, he just wants to fuck me. Then again, would he turn violent when he realizes I don’t have the money.I realized I was shaking when something grabbed my attention, pulling me from my thoughts. “You Kirsty?” a southern voice drawled. I turned slowly, coming face to face with a f
Chapter 10TankJenny dumped me.I know we weren’t exactly in a relationship, but that was her thing. That was what she wanted. And here’s the kicker- she met someone else! Someone who she decided she wanted a relationship with. Apparently, he is on the board at the hospital and they met when he was being given a tour. Anyway, that’s it.In the last few days, my sister was beaten up, I almost lost my place in the club for hitting her boyfriend and my brother, and then got dumped. I was in a fucking foul mood. And because I was in a foul mood, I lost my shit at Axel and then had to move to this fucking god forsaken town to look after her. She was fucking stunning. Long dark hair, big dark eyes, curvy. Fuck me. I hoped she hadn’t noticed me adjusting my jeans when I saw her.I don’t know what came over me before. I heard her sobbing and knew she needed me, so I broke down yet an
EpilogueKirstyOur beautiful son, Archie Ryan Wright (after his uncle Buzz) was born on June 6th, weighing 7lbs 9oz. My waters broke and only 3 hours later, he was in the world.Bella and Axel had welcomed their baby into the world only 5 weeks earlier, a beautiful little girl they named Mollie Rose Warner.James was already planning what he was going to teach his son. James was the quarterback in high school but didn’t want to pursue it in college, so he wanted to teach Archie how to play. Then he wanted him to play Ice Hockey, then Baseball. It changed every few months. He had already bought a kid’s motorcycle that he could play with when he was a bit older. He had taken to being a dad so well. He would get up in the night when he heard Archie crying. Bella had shown him how to change a diaper when Mollie was born so James knew what to do when our son arrived. He was amazing.
EpilogueTank‘My wife is smokin’ hot.’ I thought to myself, as I watched her dancing with her friends. I sat on the edge of the stool watching her. Her gorgeous dress, made me rock hard again, thinking about what we got up to in (and under) that dress only a few hours ago.We had made it back to the clubhouse just in time for the meals. We apologized to the party, not needing to give them an excuse as to where we had disappeared to. They took one look at us and knew. We had decided to start trying for a baby as soon as we were married. Kirsty had come off her birth control last month, and we had been using condoms since then. Today was the first time in a while since I had been buried deep inside her pussy, bare. Nothing coming in between us, I could have just knocked her up. I thought. I urged my dick to stay down, now wasn’t the time to have a hard on.Just then, Axel sauntered up to me. “
Chapter 33KirstyI stepped round the corner, the music had restarted again as I had been talking to Ink and missed our queue. I looked up to James, his face sagging in relief. “I’m so sorry.” I mouthed. “It’s ok.” He mouthed back.I ran. I dropped Inks arm and ran to my fiancé, my soon to be husband. The crowd chuckled but I completely blocked them out. As soon as I reached James, I leapt and landed in his arms. “I’m so sorry.” I told him, kissing him everywhere I could. “It’s ok baby, I understand.” He said, stroking my hair. “I love you. I’m so excited to marry you. My stupid brain.” I tried to explain. “Hey, I happen to love your brain and I would appreciate it if you didn’t insult it.” He smiled, making me laugh. “I love you.” I promised. “So, I’ll go and sit down now my jobs done, shall
Chapter 32KirstyEighteen months laterIt was the day before our wedding. In the last year, we had witnessed our friends, Axel and Bella tying the knot, and the birth of our first niece. Lexi Jade Cobain was born on the hottest day of the year. She was almost one.James and I decided to get married in July. We had been back in Hollingbroke for eighteen months now. Ink offered me a job on the same day he gave James his cut back. I had been working alongside Buzz since and I loved it.We had planned to have the big white wedding. I wanted to walk do the aisle and had asked Ink to walk me down. Axel and Buzz were to stand as James’ best-man and groomsman and Bella and Julia were my maid of honor and bridesmaid. Sammy was almost 2 now and he was going to be our pageboy. He looked so incredibly cute in his little suit and hat.Bella, Julia and I sat in the bar in the clubhouse. Rider was n
Chapter 31TankIt was the day of the wedding. Our tuxedos hung in my closet. Buzz and Axel had stayed here last night, Tina and Ink had Sammy overnight, leaving both Axel and Bella on edge.Axel made breakfast while I showered. He was a trained chef and had his own restaurant in town. “How are you feelin’ man?” I asked Buzz when he came down. “I’m feelin’ good. Can’t wait to marry your sister.” He told me. I told them what Kirsty had told me the day before. I called them and confided in them when she told me she didn’t know if she wanted kids or not. I know I sound like a chick, talking about my problems, but tough shit, we were there for each other. “That’s fucking awesome news!” Axel declared. “Yeah, man, I’m really happy for you.” Buzz chimed in.It was soon time to leave, we all left my house, dressed up in our tuxedos, looking
Chapter 30KirstyThe last two weeks had flown by, making sure everything was perfect. I’d done a few video calls with Angela; she was making sure I was still doing the exercises she told me to. I was going to be discharged soon, she told me. I was walking a lot better, I still had to use a stick to help me balance, but I was so much quicker. We stayed in one of the gorgeous spa hotels in Greenville. We arrived the day before, Buzz had surprised the three of us with treatments to help us relax before the big day. Julia opted out of the massage, saying she didn’t like them. I wondered why Buzz would send us to a spa resort when his bride didn’t like massages, but I let it go.Bella and I had massages and we all had the facial, pedicures and manicures. We sat in the spa afterward. “Excuse me,” Julia called one of the staff. “Can you tell me how hot the hot tub is please?” Bella and
Chapter 29TankWe had booked flights for the following day, I wanted us to start our lives together right away. I called Axel, asking him to pick us up at the airport. We would be staying for a few weeks now, until the wedding was here. As Kirsty was maid of honor, she needed to be there in the run up to the wedding. We hadn’t told anyone about our engagement yet, Kirsty didn’t want to tell anyone until Buzz and Julia were married first, she didn’t want to ‘steal their thunder’ as she said. They didn’t know she was walking either; we were going to tell them tonight at the clubhouse. She was still using her chair half the time. I wheeled her out of the airport and straight to where Axel was waiting. “Hey!” he called. “Hey man.” I replied, hugging him. “Hey Kirsty, how are you doin’ sweetheart?” he bent down, hugging my girl and kissing her on her cheek
Chapter 28KirstyIt had been four weeks since we arrived back from North Carolina. I had upped my physiotherapy to five times a week and it had worked.Yesterday, I walked from Angela to James with just one stick. James lifted me up and spun me around as I cried. I couldn’t believe it. We had two weeks left until Buzz and Julia’s wedding and I had just taken my first steps without the use of both sticks and Angela holding on to me. “You did it, baby! I’m so proud of you!” James told me, still twirling me around. “That was amazing Kirsty! Well done!” Angela proclaimed. “Thank you.” I smiled.I hated the celebration going on around me for something as trivial as walking. I wasn’t even walking properly; I still had a stick. Yeah, it was a massive achievement, one that my parents already celebrated when I was a baby. It made me feel sad, celebrating something that s
Chapter 27TankI realized how much I had missed everyone being at the clubhouse. Kirsty was hanging out with Bella and Julia and cooing over Sammy. I wanted to kick myself after what happened before. We have enough going on at the moment but, seeing her holding Sammy just made me think about what it would be like if she was holding our child in her arms. We hadn’t talked about having kids. I told her I wanted them, but Kirst has never mentioned having children.Buzz came to join me at the bar. “Hey. How are you holding up?” he asked. “I’m fine.” I smiled. “You miss it don’t you?” he asked. I looked round at the clubhouse, seeing my brothers and the clubhouse again had hit me harder than I thought it would have, “I made the right choice.” I argued. “Yeah, I agree. You did. But do you ever think about coming home?” “All the time,” I admitted
