After agreeing to talk about the dreams at a more appropriate time, we finished getting ready and went up to my grandma and grandpa’s suite for breakfast. As we got up to door, I started to knock but Luke stopped me to kiss me one more time. I blushed as I smiled at him. He whispered in my ear, “Just needed one more to tide me over for a bit.” I laughed and just shook my head as I blushed even more. He smiled, “That blush is going to be the death of me.”

I knocked on the door and dad opened it. I asked dad, “Dad, I don’t recall if you met Luke last night. Luke, this is my dad, Conri.” Dad nodded, “We have met before. I am glad to see that you’re my sweetie’s mate. She needs someone strong to be her mate.” Luke smiled, “I will always do my best for her. I always prayed that she would be my mate.” Dad smiled, “That’s exactly what happened to me too. I met my mate when we were kids at a party and I fell in love at that moment. I was ten.” Luke smiled, “I was around eight. I was fascinated with her. Everything I did after our first meeting was in preparation for her.” I blushed as dad laughed, “I did the same thing.” Trying to change the current topic of conversation, I pulled Luke away, “Time for breakfast.”

We sat at the table as mom was putting the biscuits on the table. As Luke was reaching for one, I reminded him, “You might want to keep it light. We’re going to my great-great-grandparents’ house for lunch. Trust me, you will want to wear pants with a drawstring or shorts. There has never been anyone who left my grandparents’ house with less than a miserably full belly. Those who walked in wearing jeans ended up leaving with their zippers down.” Mom laughed and nodded in agreement. Dad chuckled, “She’s telling the truth. I still have to wear sweats when I go there, but it’s worth it.” Luke smiled, “Dually noted. I will change before we go over there.” I smiled, “Good idea.”

As he started eating breakfast, he took a bite of his biscuit and his eyes rolled back in his head. I giggled as he asked, “Are these homemade?” My grandma smiled, “They are. Your reaction tells me you like them.” He smiled, “I’m only used to whop ‘em biscuits. These are way better.” I laughed at his term for refrigerated biscuit dough. My grandma asked, “What kind of biscuits?” He smiled, “Whop ‘em biscuits. You know? The refrigerated can of biscuit dough that you have to whop them on the edge of the counter to make the can pop open.” Everyone at the table laughed hysterically as grandma chuckled, “I love that name for those.” Everyone else nodded in agreement. We finished eating and I went to help mom and grandma clean the kitchen while Luke, dad and grandpa sat in the living room.

As we cleaned the kitchen, my mom asked, “How is it going?” I smiled, “It’s going great. He’s not just a werebear. He’s a warlock too. We both have magic. When we get to his place, we are going to practice our magic together and see if our magical abilities match as well as our personalities do. We have a lot of the same interests too. We both love to cook, so we agreed that we would be cooking together.” Mom smiled, “That’s perfect. I’m so glad that he is the perfect match. There won’t be a rejection for you. I’m so happy for you.” I smiled, “Thanks mom.” Grandma put her arm over my shoulder, “I’m so happy for my sweet Sylvie.” I smiled as I hugged her, “Thank you grandma. I am so happy with him! He’s super patient with me.”

After we were done, we still had a few hours before it was time to go to my great-grandparents. I asked Luke, “Would you want to go for a run? We have a few hours to kill before it’s time to go over there.” Luke smiled, “I would like that. Are you ready?” I nodded, “Why don’t we go to your room first and you can put on the clothes you want to wear to grandma’s?” He replied, “I’ll go like this. I want to be able to keep my stretchy clothes clean.” I laughed, “You got it. Let’s go then.”

We walked out the back door and approached the tree line. We each hid behind a tree and got undressed. I shifted into my grey wolf and heard the loud popping of Luke’s bones while he shifted into his huge, brown bear. He roars loudly while I howl and I lead the way. We run fast, dodging tree branches, jumping over tree roots and dead logs. When we got to the small lake, I stopped. Luke was going so fast; he couldn’t stop as fast as I did and ran into me. Luckily, I had stopped a good distance from the lake, so we both fell to the ground, just inches from the bank of the lake. I landed with my arms and legs sprawled out and he landed in the same position, with his arm over my back. I rolled away and walked to the bank of the lake. I took a drink and watched as he did the same.

We sat back and I nuzzled into Xavion. He picked up Nicona and he held me close to him. I never thought my wolf could purr, but she made a sound that sounded like a purr. I lovingly licked the side of his face and rubbed noses with him. He nuzzled his nose into my neck and took a deep breath. I smiled, knowing that he is taking in my scent. I love that he can’t seem to get enough of that. After sitting there for about thirty minutes, he stood up and put me on the ground. I stood there, staring at just how unbelievably huge and majestic my mate is. Damn, I am one lucky woman! When he dropped down to stand on all four feet, he crouched down to a playing stance, and I followed suit. I took off running and he followed as we retraced our previous route all the way to where our clothes are hidden and shifted back to our human forms.

I came out from the tree line and waited for Luke to come out. When he was done dressing, he came out of the forest and walked up to me. He immediately wrapped his arms around me, “Nicona is beautiful. I am so lucky.” I chuckled as I enjoyed the sparks, “I thought the same thing when Xavion stood on his hind feet. I am one lucky woman. Not only is my mate’s human form unbelievably handsome, but so is his bear. There is no way I could feel unsafe.” He buried his face in my neck and inhaled my scent.

We went up to his room and took turns taking showers. I dressed in a sundress and a pair of sandals while he wore a pair of basketball shorts. We walked up to my grandparents’ suite and met everyone as they were preparing to leave. My mom asked, “Ready to go?” I nodded, “Ready. We had a really good run, so now we are hungry again.”

We followed my family to my great-great-grandparents’ house. When we got out of the truck, grandma was waiting at the front door, “We have new muscles in the family! You get up here, hug me and then I’ve got a job for you."

We all laughed and dad chuckled, “She wants you to crank the ice cream maker.” I laughed, “You won’t be sorry. Her homemade ice cream is the bomb! Especially when she makes a pie or cobbler with it.” We all walked to the door and grandma gave me a huge hug, “Grandma Honi isn’t doing well, sweetie. I’m glad you’re here.” I asked, “Where is she?” Grandma sighs, “She’s in one of the guest rooms. Second one on the right.” I smiled, “I’ll go see her.” Luke asked, “Would it be okay if I come with you?” I took his hand and we walked to her room. When we got to the room, we walked in and grandma was laying in bed, watching television. She looked at me and held out her arms, “Come give me a hug.” We both walked to the bed and I sat beside her, taking her tiny body in a gentle embrace, “Grandma, how are you feeling?” She smiled at me, but I could tell she wasn’t feeling well, “I’m okay, nihˀoːteibeihi.” I smiled, “You have always called me that, but you never told me what it means.” She giggle

We walked out of grandma’s room and I pulled Luke outside. I pulled him to the side of the house and pushed him up against the house. I jumped and wrapped my arms around his neck and my legs around his waist. He smiled at me with his eyes turning black, indicating his bear is taking control, “Well, little mate, what did I do to deserve this beautiful torture?” I kissed him gently, “You treated my grandma with such love and care. Thank you.” He smiled, his eyes going back to normal, “She’s a beautiful woman with a beautiful personality. I could listen to her stories of while she was growing up all day.” I smiled, “She has seen a lot in her life. Some good, some bad, but everything contained a lesson for her to learn. She learned each lesson well and never repeated the mistakes again.” We heard mom and dad come out and Luke groaned, “Ugh! I was enjoying this a lot.” I laughed, “I’m sure you were. We can continue this when we get to our home.” Luke smiled as he eased me back to the grou

I can’t stop looking out the windows, enjoying the scenery as we go. He asks, “What are you thinking, love?” I smile, “I’m not really thinking anything. Just really enjoying the scenery.” He laughed, “I guess I’m just used to it. It’s not such a big deal for me.” We continue on our way and I ask, “Do we live at the top of a mountain?” He smiled, “Not at the top of the one we live on. We live at nearly nine thousand feet. We are going to stay in a hotel at a lower elevation for the first night. It will help with your acclimation. Some people have a hard time breathing on our mountain for the first week or so. I think if you have a night at a slightly lower elevation first, you might breathe a little easier at our home.” I smiled, “Thank you so much for thinking of me.” He chuckled, “You are all I think about.” I gush, “Aw, you’re so sweet.” We get to a town called Canon City. We park in a hotel parking lot at around eleven pm. Luke goes in and gets a room for us while I grab my bag. I

I’m looking around and I smile as I spread my arms open wide, “Are you kidding me? I love it!” I can not believe this is my new home. The entire main floor was my favorite design… Modern rustic! It had whitewashed hardwood floors, reclaimed wood wainscoting and antique white walls. The kitchen cabinets were white with black marble countertops. All of the appliances are stainless steel. I kept looking around and smiled, “This house is absolutely perfect, Luke.” He walked to me and wrapped his arms around me, “I’m so glad you like it. Do you want to unpack and then go for a run?” I nodded, “That sounds awesome.” I followed Luke to his truck then grabbed a bag and took it up to our room. I started folding items and putting them in my drawers. Luke continued to bring stuff in the house, while I continued to unpack. I had everything unpacked in no time and walked downstairs to find my mate in his office, “Hey, ready for that run?” He sighed, “I just got a message to call one of my assistan

I sighed, “I did see it. I take it that’s the suspicious activity?” He looked up and nodded as he took a bite of his peach cobbler and his eyes rolled back in his head, “Oh. My. Goddess. Baby, this is really good. It’s just like your grandma’s.” I laughed, “I’m glad you like it.” He sighed, “Can we talk about the books after I enjoy this? I can’t form a coherent thought right now.” I laughed and nodded as I ate my cobbler too. I smiled, “We should buy the stuff for homemade ice cream next time we’re in Canon City. This cobbler is really good with homemade ice cream. But it’s also good cold for breakfast.” He smiled, “I will be eating this for breakfast and probably after every meal.” I laughed, “You don’t want to burn out on it right away, do you?” He laughed, “That can never happen. I’m a bear. We love our fruit and berries.” I asked, “So if I found a place to pick some blackberries?” He gasped, “I would love you forever if you made this with blackberries! Well, I already will love yo

I woke this morning feeling happier than I have ever been. I tried to get out of bed, but there was a heavy arm draped over me. I laid back and thought over last night’s events. Luke had been so gentle and loving with me, it brought tears to my eyes. Not because it hurt, but because I could literally feel how much he loves me. When we marked each other, the feeling of euphoria was more intense than anything I have ever felt in my life. Our marks! I look at my mark on his neck and see a bear curled around a sleeping wolf with a silver full moon in the background. I can’t wait to see his mark on my neck. I gently moved Luke’s arm off of me and walked to the bathroom. I’m looking in the mirror and see our marks are identical. I smile in admiration and I love how the simple thought of him being mine makes me feel. I never thought that I could feel this loved or that I could love someone this much. I’m smiling more than I ever have in my life as I start the shower. I get in as soon as the

I giggle as she runs to me. She hugs me as soon as she reaches me, “I am so happy to meet you!” I chuckle, “I’m happy to meet you too. I just finished making dinner. Have a seat at the table. We can visit and eat together.” I started putting the food on the table when Luke came in the kitchen, “Can I help you bring the food in?” I smiled, “You sure can.” I took the hot-hot out of the refrigerator and grabbed a spoon. I stirred it to make sure all the flavors are melded together. I grabbed a smaller spoon and let him try a bite, “Spicy enough?” He chewed it up and nodded while he swallowed, “That is awesome! My dad is going to love this.” We finished taking the food to the table and sat down. We started filling our plates and Luke smiled, “Dad, you need to try this. Sylvie calls it hot-hot. It’s her grandmother’s recipe.” Luke’s dad took a bite of it and smiled as he ate it. When he swallowed the bite of food, he moaned, “Sylvie, that is amazing. You must teach my mate how to make this

Luke must have overheard me, because I heard him agree, “Now that’s a sight I can’t wait to see.” He wrapped his arms around me and I leaned into him, enjoying the sparks. Zara gushed, “I just love watching you two. I can tell you already love each other.” I smiled, “We do.” Zara laughed, “This guy has loved you for most of his life. He never even wanted to date while he was in high school.” I smiled as I looked at him, “What would you have done if we weren’t mates?” He blushed, “I have no clue. I always just counted on you being my mate. If you weren’t at this ball, I would’ve come looking for you.” I chuckled, “You’re so cute.” He laughed, “Thanks, I think.” I chuckled, “It’s a good thing to be cute. Especially by me.” Zara laughed, “And your mama.” He laughed, “I will always be cute in your eyes.” Zara replied, “Of course you will.” And now it’s my turn to gush, “Aw, you guys are too cute!” Luke smiles, “Okay. Enough with the girly shit. I’m going to go sit with dad and take back my

I smiled as I watched my kids get out of Alex’s car. They are eighteen now and are now in college and they are home for spring break. Luke and I had two more girls, twins, who are twelve now. Lizzy and Emily ran out to greet them. Lizzy yelled, “Adele! You’re home!” Adele hugged her sisters, “Hey, ladies, how are things going?” Lizzy growled, “I can’t keep Emily out of my clothes!” Emily scowled, “I would stay out of your clothes if you would stay out of my makeup!” Lizzy sneered, “Don’t leave it out where I can get to it.” I laughed, “Girls. Stop. Both of you have the same exact clothes and makeup. You should each be using your own. You even have your own bathrooms and bedrooms to keep your own stuff in. Use your own rooms.” Lizzy whined, “But, mom, why can’t we share anything? We’re twins, we already share your beauty.” I laughed, “I’m not giving in. You two need to stick to your own things.” Lizzy was right. All of my girls inherited my light blonde hair and blue eyes, while our bo

I was feeding Zachary when Adele’s highchair starts to float off the floor and she starts giggling wildly. I laughed at the little boy with the mischievous eyes, “Micah, put your sister down. You’re such a naughty boy.” Alex was just minding his own business while eating some dry cereal all by himself. These babies are now one year old and I am positive that these babies communicate in their own language. I know they conspire against me daily. Luckily, I helped my mother raise triplets. I know Micah is running the show that I am currently witnessing. He knows that Adele’s sweet giggles crack me up and distract me. However, I know to watch Alex. He’s about to make a big mess with his cereal so that I will have to pick it all up. I shook my head, “Nuh-uh ya’ll. I know what you’re up to. Micah, tone down the magic.” I looked up and saw my daughter’s highchair had nearly ascended to the ceiling. Micah gave me a guilty look and she suddenly started slowly descending to the floor. The next day, the babies and I were discharged from the hospital and Luke and I took them to our house, where everyone was waiting for us. When we got home, Luke carried two baby carriers into the house, then came back outside, carried two more babies into the house, then helped me. I asked, “Is anyone in the house right now?” He chuckled, “Everyone is in the house right now. Including grandma.” I smiled, “That means grandma has been cooking!” He laughed, “Our island is full of cookies, cakes and cobblers.” I laughed hard while holding my abdomen, “She is so predictable. I’m sure she won’t be cooking as much once she gets her hands on the babies.” He laughed, “I think you’re right. She ran from the kitchen to the baby carriers as soon as I was in the door with the first two.” I was smiling widely as soon as I walked in the door. I looked around and saw a house full of family. I mean FULL… my parents, all of my grandparents, all of my siblings, Uncle Nico, Brenna, King Parker, Queen Za

Sylvie’s POV When we got to my room, the nurse already had four little cribs with four tiny babies in them sitting beside my bed. Nurse Holly smiled, “Well, princess, you have a bunch of people outside who are looking to see you and these little sweeties. You should feed them soon, but breast feeding will be impossible for all of them. I would rotate babies to decide who will get the breast milk… at least for the next few weeks. There are some prepared bottles of formula under the cribs for the ones who don’t get breast milk.” She showed us where they are as well as the diapers, wipes and blankets. Luke handed boy A to me and I tried to get him to latch on. As he started suckling, I noticed Luke was watching and beaming. I smiled at him, “Are you happy, my prince?” He sighed, “More than happy. I can’t wait to show you all off to our kingdom.” I laughed, “Should we invite Beagan to the house for a couple days to take a bunch of pictures? We can choose a few to send to the media.” He s

Two weeks later, mom and I were making cookies and cupcakes to freeze. Luke reminded me, “Don’t forget, we have a doctor appointment today.” I asked, “What time?” He looked at his watch, “We will need to be there in an hour.” I smiled, “Okay. Do you mind if mom comes with us? I’m sure she would love to see the babies.” He smiled, “Of course. I wouldn’t have it any other way.” We finally got everything together and left for the castle hospital. When we got there, the nurse led us to a room and I sat on the exam table. When Doctor Kelvin walked in, he smiled, “It won’t be long before our prince has an heir.” I chuckled, “A few heirs. I’m feeling it too. They are super active. Sometimes it feels like they are wrestling around in there.” He chuckled, “They probably are. I’m sure their elbow room has diminished greatly.” I asked, “I’ve been having a ton of back pain lately. It feels like my belly has dropped too. Do you think they will be coming soon?” He raised his eyebrows, “We should ch

I actually only got to work another month before King Parker put me on maternity leave. I was not happy about it, but I accepted it with as much grace as I could muster. Luke tried to comfort me, “Love, he only cares about your health and you are getting so close to giving birth.” I sighed, “I know. It doesn’t take much to hurt my feelings these days. It’s just the pregnancy hormones.” He shrugged, “That doesn’t mean it bothers me less to feel this feeling. It hurts me when you are hurt.” I smiled, “Okay. I will try to block off those feelings.” He laughed, “You will do no such thing.” I laughed, “I’m kidding, love. I will do my best try to keep my emotions in check.” As we sat in the living room, I picked up the current blanket that I’m working on. I have already completed a Cape Cod blue and white blanket, a royal blue and white one, and I am currently working on a pastel blue and white one. The last one is going to be a pastel pink and white. They are all eight-point stars. Luke wat

It has been a month since the dinner with Benny and Cayenne, and I’m starting to get very uncomfortable. My belly is getting very big now and my doctor is threatening bed rest for the last three months if I don’t start taking it easy. That means no more going to the apartments and helping with the remodel. I’m not very happy about it, but my awesome mate has made it well worth my while. He found out that I learned how to crochet when I was young. He asked, “Would you be happy about taking it easy if I bought all the stuff for you to start crocheting blankets for our babies?” I acted like I was thinking about it, “Well, if I had something to keep me busy, it might help. Crocheting is something I can do and see progress. I guess that would help. Can I go with you?” He chuckled, “You will have to come with me. I wouldn’t know what to get.” I laughed, “I would also like to try to find some maternity clothes.” He responded, “Okay, but we need to make sure you aren’t on your feet for too lon

When we got home, I realized that it was time for me to start dinner. I asked Luke, “How does chicken parmesan sound for dinner?” He asked, “Are you going to make your homemade garlic bread for it?” I laughed, “Of course. I also want to make a triple berry cobbler with homemade ice cream for dessert. What do you think?” He asked, “Triple berries?” I explained, “Strawberry, blackberry and raspberry.” He smiled, “That sounds really good.” I started making the bread for my garlic bread and smiled, “I think I’m going to make dinner rolls slathered in homemade garlic butter. I think that would go over better.” He smiled, “That would be great, love.” I started the bread and kneaded it until it was ready to rise. I covered it with a clean, damp, tea towel. I went to the office while I was waiting for the bread to rise and checked my email. I didn’t see anything new, so I checked for more receipts and purchase orders and only found four of each. I was able to enter those in a matter of minute

I decided to cook fried chicken, mashed potatoes, gravy and green beans for supper. I had the chicken, mashed potatoes and green beans ready and was working on the gravy when Luke walked into the kitchen, his phone up to his ear. I heard him tell someone, “Just do what I wanted to do. Stop thinking about what he wants. He doesn’t know what he’s talking about.” I furrowed my brows, “What was that about?” He tossed his phone on the island and sighs as he runs his hand down his face, “My business partner is an idiot. He wants to waste money on redecorating all of the apartments in a newly acquired complex, but most of them already have renters in them.” I asked, “So why not redecorate each one as it becomes vacant? It’s less of an initial expense. You can charge more for the newly renovated ones and keep the rent steady for the ones that are currently occupied. That way you will keep earning money while you are spending it. Plus, the newly renovated ones will attract renters much faster.
